Was staying at the Doubletree and decided to go here for breakfast for the convenience. We thought of driving to a local breakfast place but figured prices now are comparable so might as well eat her for one breakfast. Even though I'm a Hilton Diamond member, breakfast isn't complimentary. My wife decided to go for the buffet since after looking the menu, she could get more food options she was craving. I went with the menu item and got the NY steak And eggs. Steak was okay. Very meaty and was served with 2 eggs and hash brown. No complaints so 5 stars. Coffee was $2.95 and the funny thing right in front of the Players restaurant, there was complimentary coffee you can make yourself as a guest at the hotel. So advice- get the free coffee and bring to your table. Service was excellent. We got served by a man and a woman (Maria) and they were very attentive and got us all the condiments we could ask for without asking.. tobacco , cholula, ketchup and A1 sauce. They checked on us often and asked if we wanted coffee refills often. 5 stars Overall, a good breakfast and was able to put the charge to our hotel read more

Stopped for a quick bite and was hoping to sit outside but I guess it's only open for seating seasonally. We sat in the lounge which was ok. There were random sports on TVs and many families due to the dance competition in town. We ordered cheese pizza and fries. I was surprised that the fries were so good and you get a ton. The pizza was OK. Nothing to write home about. Returned to the dining area the next day where breakfast was really good. Eggs were cooked well. Portions were decent sized. As for service - Breakfast service was awesome. Dinner was busier so the bartender had a lot on his hands. Not bad service just a little slow as a result. Taking off a star for ambiance, but it could be nicer on the patios. read more

Situated inside the doubletree hotel by the bay club, the Players Restaurant features some upscale food. After spending the night, I decided to give it a try for breakfast. I was impressed with the generous portions and fair prices. As a Hilton Gold Member, I was also able to receive a credit on my meal, so it was essentially free. Can't beat that. At the time I dined, it wasn't incredibly busy, so I got served rather quickly. I'd even consider just dining at the restaurant and foregoing the stay in the future! read more

It was a rainy work evening and we didn't wanna go far from the hotel with this rain. Well, I wasn't expecting a great meal from a hotel restaurant, however, I wasn't expecting being that bad either. Even though the service was great, the food was pretty bad. I felt almost everything was store-bought items, they kept in the freezer. I got crispy calamari and 7" pizza. The calamari was okay, store-bought calamari rings were cooked and put in a basket. It came with 2 dipping sauces. As for the pizza I selected 7" of the build-your-own pizza. It was also pre-made cheese store-bought pizza. They just added black olives and mushrooms on the top, as I requested. My husband ordered the New York Steak for his meal. The steak wasn't cooked properly either. It did have a sear at just for the one side and definitely did not rest before serving. Once you cut all the bloody juice made a mess in the plate. I/We normally don't mind paying a good amount of money for a good meal. However, this restaurant was overly priced for this kind of experience. read more

I stay at this hotel a lot for work when I travel from the east coast. When I stay here I come down to the restaurant bar for dinner/drinks every night instead of going anywhere else because the food is good, but more importantly the staff is amazing. Shout out to Ricardo, Rafael, Gustavo and Nicole for being such welcoming faces. They have created a home away from home environment. read more

Came here for late afternoon snacks. My daughter wanted mac and cheese. She got a large apple juice. I thought it was going to be served in a little cup. I went with the cheese quesadillas. It came with sour cream, guacamole, and salsa. I got an iced water to drink. The cheese quesadillas were really good. I tried my daughter's mac and cheese. It was too bitter for me. More of the cheddar taste than the normal cheese flavor. Our server was awesome. I didn't get his name but he told me he's been working at this hotel for three months. My mom was making the server laugh because of my mom's facial expression on her face when she heard the soup of the day. The server and I just laughed. I told him my mom is picky when it comes to soup. He was very nice and friendly. I told him we are from San Diego visiting. Made some friendly conversation. He even advised us on the area and traffic. The dining area was cool. There's a big screen television up front where you can watch baseball or sports. Other television screens were across the dining area. There were restrooms near the corner of the dining area. Pretty good place to eat with great customer service. read more

Ate breakfast here daily when I stayed in the DoubleTree. Always had the breakfast buffet, which included an omelette station. Service was friendly, and only on two mornings did I have to ask for the breakfast bar to be restocked of a few items they were out of. Happy Valentines Day!! I just came here for the Hilton Hotel "Romance Package" including Room, Romantic Dinner and Breakfast. I thought this place was great! Their Valentines Day efforts were perfect. Candlelight, Large selection of wine- (I had the house Pinot, and it was very smooth). The dinner Menu was Prix Fix- Basket of bread with a dipping sauce of oil and vin with shavings of Parm cheese. Hearts of Romaine Lettuce, pears, feta with a raspberry vin dressing. Appetizer platter with spring rolls, Won tons and tempura veggies (with 2 dipping sauces). Main dish choices were- Fillet Mignon, Swordfish, scallops w/pasta, and a chicken dish. All choices came with mashed potatoes or rice pilaf and veggies. Dessert was a molten lava cake with ice cream or a "tropical sundae". Let me tell you, I was pretty disappointed when my husband told me where we were going. I was excited for the night in the hotel (the beds at the Hilton are TO DIE FOR) but I read the negative review about "Players Restaurant" and I was totally bummed. Don't get me wrong, I'm not spoiled..well, not completely spoiled- but my Hubby knows how to take care of me on Valentines day. The bread was warm and fresh, the appetizer was HOT when it came out, my steak was cooked to my request and my husbands swordfish was awesome. We split the chocolate lava heart and each had 2 drinks. The service here was outstanding, attentive and extremely friendly. We had candles on our table and each course was served extremely timely. We finished dinner and went to the room to find that the hotel had surprised us with chocolate covered strawberries! We brought our own champagne, so it was perfect. We opened our presents to each other, ordered a movie and (insert none of your business activities here_______). Then went to bed. BREAKFAST! Players also serves a breakfast buffet. It was "eh". The eggs were kinda crusty and the salmon was kinda squishy. The fruit was good, the sausage and bacon was cooked pretty well-done, but when we got up there, there were no pancakes left so we had to wait..no biggie. They had a guy cooking up omelette's, but I'm a total French-Toast girl...so I was a-little sad. All in all, it lacked in flavor and we ate minimally. Good thing I was still stuffed from dinner! I felt I needed to redeem this place. I'm glad we went and it knocked the Pleasanton Marriott OUT OF THE PARK. That place blows goats compared to the Hilton and they should totally know that. Stopped by the Players Restaurant located at the Hilton for breakfast before attempting to shop at Paragon Outlets. In three words: this place sucks. Our waitress, an elderly woman was unpleasant towards my family and I. I don't want to flat out call her racist, but she did cater toward lighter skinned persons more than us, a somewhat tan Filipino family. She refilled their coffee with all smiles, however when it came to us, her diction and tone of voice changed. This restaurant deserves only one star for the AMIABLE omelette chef. read more

Since this is a restaurant at the Hilton in Pleasanton, probably frequented by tourists so who would review this place? The hotel is conveniently located off the freeway and looks great from the outside. We've been here thrice since we live in the area and wanted a place for my parents" mini-reunion. First try-out was A-okay. The clam chowder was thick, but a bit salty. The next try-out was on Father's Day and with the crowd (waited even with reservations) there was lot of food on the floor and quite messy. Dirty plates just sat at one end of the table.The one and only waitress they had for that shift was way too busy and so what ~ her tip was already billed in as part of our bill ~ she was automatically guaranteed a $40 tip. That's not right. The final showdown was the meal that we had reserved for the mini-reunion. Yuk, the food was so bad, thank goodness, our friends were nice to thank us for the opportunity to get together and celebrate another year of being well. I'm mainly giving it 5 stars because of the service that I would usually get from all the servers/waiters and hostesses because they are all fantastic. Everyone was always so nice. I would love to say that especially about Betty (I think that's her name). Tomorrow is our last day here after about 2 weeks due to my spouse's class and when I came for breakfast here quite a few times, she was mainly the one to have my table. Waitress seated us, and then didn't come back for +15 minutes to take our order, despite helping all the tables around us. Once we finally flagged a second waitress down, she came back but didn't even apologize for the wait. I love the Hilton period, it was a special bonus to enjoy your nice quiet evening in your room then make a unexpected trip downstairs to the restaurant only to be greeted with service with a smile from Paul at the restaurant. It was already 12:15 am in the morning when I arrived, so technically Sunday. I asked if there was cold milk and they mentioned they had just locked the bar and the kitchen was closed. Paul I'm guessing who runs the restaurant or should just because he made me feel at home and welcomed, bent over backwards and asked me what kind of milk my child drank. I said closest to D milk as possible, within a minute he came back out with two ice cold milk, brought back memories of ice cold milk in elementary the small ones, handed them to me. To know that there is still good human beings out there that go the extra mile to help another says a lot, I could see he was exhausted from a long evening of which he hosted many high school grads and a military ball in the same evening, he made the time even when he was not on the clock to help me and help a guest out. I hope and truly pray that Paul will be blessed with a job promotion or a chance to run a management position if he doesn't do so already. You can tell he thinks twice and is two steps ahead, management material. This is another reason why I only stay at the Hilton, not only for their warm fresh cookies but for their loyal employees that help keep this place one of the most respectable places to stay. Ok!!!!! The strawberry Daiquiri looked like strawberrys blended with water. They need to have a bartender at lunch if you don't know how to make a daiquiri just say so. Very nice atmosphere. Relaxed and clean. Large TVs . Restaurant is closed at night but you can get the full menu at the bar area. Vegetables were sautéed perfectly and they were fresh. NY steak was decent, edible although, it would of helped the taste if a little fat was left on it, meat temperature was decent and I would surmise it's regular quality meat and a more than average sized cut. Staff was very friendly and responsive. I see no fault here for what it is, an in-house hotel restaurant and it's better than average. If you are staying at the hotel and and don't want to go out after a hard workout at the gym this is the place to go. BTW the mash potatoes were very good. I don't give 4 Stars unless the food was exceptional world class but don't be deceived by the three star, it was a very nice dinner, nice clean area staff is wonderful, steak was good.
