Prepare to linger awkwardly -- there is barely a system customary in other sandwich shops of forming a line to submit an order, wait, pay or order coffee separately. There is nothing better than getting a bagel and coffee from these guys. Super attentive, always friendly. I'm a regular so most of the time I don't even have to ask for my usual. Best bagel/sandwich shop in GP, hands down. Best part...they play good music; metal, punk, rock, and 80's jams. I overheard someone complaining about the music. Bagels are good HOWEVER there services is very unprofessional. I called for two orders 15 mins prior to getting there because I am 9 months pregnant. Did want to wait on there long lines. I got there and I had to wait 10 mins for anyone to help me . Then when I got the order they charged me for two order however only gave me one. Had to go back and had to wait again. It makes you not want to go there because of the service. My advice to the owner get people that actually know what they are doing and WANT to work. read more

Bagels awesome. Service ok. I only care about the bagels. Crispy on the outside and moist and soft on the inside. The price on Wednesdays is $7.00 for a dozen bagels. It's a deal. This is my favorite place to go on a Saturday morning....I rock a righteous Garlic bagel with Jalapeño cream cheese and if I'm feeling like a fatty fat-fresh lox on that mofo too..Have you tasted the pistachio muffins..they are off the hook. I have to take back my initial review and give a "this is why you give someone a second chance" review. I'm not sure if they're under new management, or the workers have taken the negative Yelp reviews seriously, but they've gotten significantly better. The service has definitely improved. I'm no longer waiting around, like an idiot, for one of the seven guys behind the counter to take my order. They've been more attentive and friendly, which is really appreciated. At the chance that there's a problem with the order, they've been way more accomodating and it's not delivered in the condescending manner I previously spoke of. Their breakfast food remains amazing. Delicious bagels, delicious spreads, delicious omelettes and pretty much anything involving egg. I also recommend giving some of their signature deli meat sandwiches a chance, as they can be great. If you're craving a burger or a chicken hero though, I'd recommend going elsewhere. Stick to the breakfast basics. read more

The food isn't horrible if you actually get it. I purchased quite a few items and $8 worth was not included. It took a day to get ahold of the restaurant. I was verbally attacked and disrespected, so much so I even told them I would not be ordering anything else for fear they would spit in my food. Baker's Dozen is the most impressive bagel/baking establishment in all of New York City for 3 reasons. 1. Their bagels and spreads are absolutely fantastic 2. The ambiance of the restaurant is enjoyable. Great music, ample and spacious seating/waiting area. 3. The staff is top of its class, all willing to help out with a great attitude. You feel valued as a patron of Baker's Dozen. Any deli/bagel/bake shop should be compared with Baker's Dozen in the area, it simply redefines the standard of great food and customer service. read more

I gotta say, the sandwiches and bagels are delicious. Anyone who says otherwise is off their rocker. The staff is cool and generally nice. The problem... apparently getting a toasted bagel at this place is the TALLEST order you could ever ask for. It's like asking for diamonds in your sandwich. The last FOUR times in a row and have yet to get my sandwich toasted. The last two times I did but only because I watch them like a hawk. Both times my double-checking was met with rudeness. Me: "It IS toasted right?" Them: "Ugh... it will be NOW!" (as he slathers mayonnaise off the bagel to toast it.) There is some misconception on the part of the staff that maybe the customer has no concept of how they want their bagel. As if I forget EVERY time I order that it needs to be toasted and don't say so upon my initial request. I freakin' LOVE these bagels AND this place. But it's getting to the point when I prepare to walk in that I have to stop and think... Am I really prepared to deal with the disappointment and hostility I'm about to face when requesting a TOASTED freakin' bagel? Since I know I'm not crazy and never have this issue anywhere else, I've come to think that this toasting process is just REALLY annoying for the employees. I don't know why or how because it seems like it only takes about a minute, but it can't just be a constant deafness regarding this one word- "toasted." It must be something they really don't want to do and are hoping to avoid. I really can't figure it out. The food is delicious and the staff is awesome (outside of this one issue.) Yeah, I had high hopes for this place, but they have quickly diminished. Firstly, mostly all the fresh bagel places I have been to before have given a baker's when you order a dozen. This place is called _________ .....Yes, correct, Baker's Dozen! Did I get one? No. True, I didn't ask, but then again, I also assumed it would be 12 + 1 without saying anything. The service was mediocre and would have been better if the person behind the counter didn't look so blank or emptily at me when I was ordering. The bagels are okay, but damnit, I really want access to excellent water boiled bagels as opposed to OK ones, which are all over the place and brings me to my next point, the bagels were not worth the price a paid, which, if I recall correctly, was $12. Gimme a deal on these OK bagels or I'm going to go elsewhere for better. I still haven't found a good place in The Point yet, but I'll tote the bagels back from the bagelsmith rather than give my business to this place. read more

I am very perplexed if the people writing these reviews are ignorant or just unintellegent. The fact is that Bakers Dozen has arguably the best bagels in the five boroughs. This is not an opinion this is a fact. In addition, their store in queens has fantastic reviews and I can tell you first hand, having eaten at both locations, that their recipes are identical. As far as service goes the service is nno better or no worse than anyplace else. I go to starbucks and pay almost five dollars for a cup of coffee and I still wait. Quality takes time. As far as the employees not getting the order correct, well that happens anywhere and everywhere. I know that I have been asked on several occasions, by each of the two owners that are on premise all the time, if everything was ok. Lets not forget that this is not Tavern on the Green. It's a bagel/deli and we can't expect the kind of service that you get at a four star restaurant. Great bagels and fine service and that is the bottomline. read more

I love the Baker's Dozen. It's like watching a movie that is so bad that you can't stop watching it. "Phastasm" or "Roadhouse" come to mind. The service is so horrendous that one could conclude the employees are purposefully trying to screw it up. If you ask for an everything bagel with lite cream cheese, you receive a sesame bagel with butter. If you ask for a toasted bagel, they stick in the toaster (at least 37% of the time) and it comes out colder than when it entered the complicated browning device. Maybe the employees are contrary or perhaps they just know what you REALLY want. It truly is amazing. I love going here every weekend, so I have another tale of unbelievable incompetence to regale my friends with. I highly recommend that everyone go there, especially you masochists. read more

This place is hundreds times better than any deli bagel. Since it opened I have been coming here. Their bagels are fresh. I love when they have a crunchy outer layer but the inside is moist and soft. I usually get their Sesame Bagel with cream cheese and jelly. Not special but the bagel really makes it good. The service is really speedy and they are attentive. When the lines get long on weekends it still goes fast. Everything there just seems good. Its not some fancy 5th Ave. Bagel place but they do have some amazing options. Best bagels ever. My friend and I came here from Australia on a recommendation, oh man, best decision ever. We came back most days we were in NYC for their bagels just to try all the different cream cheeses. The jalapeno one in particular was the bomb. One of the mornings I could only fit in half a bagel, so I squished the other half (cream cheese and all) in my bag in case of emergency. Ate it about 5 hours later whilst waiting in a long line for something or other, still just as tasty, despite looking a bit worse for wear. The guys behind the counter are a bit touch and go with remembering orders but I thought that made things hilarious rather than annoying. Clearly a local favourite, lots of greeting and memorised orders going on around us every morning. 110% recommend for bagels whilst in NYC read more
