I made a DoorDash order and I was excited to try them out. I've never been to Bafang, based on what I heard about the congested parking situation and the crowded patrons, so I'm really glad that I can give them a try without the burden. The experience with the food was just ok. I ordered a mini wonton soup and a pack of 6 signature dumplings. The wonton soup tasted ok, the soup got the umami flavors as you get from MSG, but I had no MSG reactions afterwards; unfortunately, all the wonton were broken. The wrappings were thin, but they all broke, leaving the meatball fillings floating around. The steamed dumplings also tasted ok. Although the wrapping looked thick, it didn't have that chewy gluten texture that I dislike. I found the fillings tasted fine, but there's this sense of air and space b/w the wrapper and the fillings. My friend echoed my feelings and said she always felt like not eating enough substances when eating their dumplings for hot pot. I also tried one potsticker, not bad, but potstickers are just not great for take-out, as they easily lose the crispiness, and the oil could overwhelm the dumplings. I'm not happy with their take-out packaging, as all the potstickers were left in various boxes without markings. We were so confused by which was which, and my friend had to sniff inside each box to find her kimchi potsticker. lol I also tried a piece of beef from the beef noodle soup. The beef was soft, but it lacked flavor compared to Flaming Ox.

Bafang Dumpling is a popular restaurant chain from Taiwan. This location has been open for a couple months now. I recently got the chance to dine here for dinner with my SO and friends. ORDER/REGISTRAR The staff are pretty busy. The employee that took our order was friendly and professional. SEATING After you order at the registrar, you find your own table to sit at. Also, you clean up after dining with several trash stations with tray carts, etc. FOOD - Bafang Signatue Potstickers x12 - Pork Chop with Briased Pork Belly Rice Bowl - Wonton Soup Everything was made fresh to order. We waited about 10-15 minutes for our food. Everything was delicious and tasty. The potstickers were crisp and the filling was well seasoned and flavorful. The rice bowl I ordered was comforting and tasty -- I love the pickled mustard greens and sweet pickled cucumber slices. Overall, it's a solid spot to enjoy Taiwanese comfort food. Next time, I'd like to try the Taiwanese beer noodle soup and explore other flavorful dumplings on the menu.

Decided to try Bafang after some of the hype died down and in the late evening to avoid any potential waits. Two of us had: combo 7 $14.50 -mini wonton soup -bafang signature noodle 6 signature dumplings $6.95 fried pork chop $9.25 OVerall, OK meal. Wonton had too much wrapper. Noodle was way too saucey and overcooked. Dumplings were ok (too much dough) and pork chop was avg. Pricing wise, relatively reasonable. Nice ambiance inside. Food came out really slow for some reason, but maybe because we went in late. Limited parking in the plaza.

First impression of this place is open, spacious and bright. It's a cafeteria-style that you order at the counter and find your own table. When your food is ready, you go get it at the counter on your own. Food is so-so, not as good as the hype. All the food we received are not served hot (temperature-wise). They're slightly luke warm and seems like it's been sitting around for awhile, and not freshly made. We ordered: - Signature Potstickers: They're not crispy at all. We can tell the pot stickers bren sitting around after being cooked. They're not freshly made to order. Very disappointing. - Signature Dumplings: They're ok, nothing special that I can't get anywhere else. Dumplings I got from other restaurants were served piping hot, but not here. - Pork Chop with braised pork belly rice: This is probably the best dish out of all. The pork chop is flavorful and tender. It comes with a little bit of preserved veggies. There is some sauce that flavor the rice too. However, the dish comes in room temperature and the rice is too hard (may be because the rice isn't served hot) - Bafang Signature Noodles: It's slightly spicy with a kick to it. Noodles are cooked well and chewy. There is no meat in this dish. The garlic sauce at the counter is very good to use as a dipping sauce for the potstickers and dumplings. Overall it's a big disappointment. Was hoping this to be a great dumpling place with a convenient location. I really wish all food were freshly cook to order and served piping hot.

Nice location, very clean, and workers were helpful as a first timer. Everything I ordered was delicious but my favorite dish I have to come back for is the wonton soup. The broth was light, flavorful, and had a hint of lemon. The wontons were great as well. Sesame noodles were good, a little thick and heavy but great flavor almost like peanut butter. Potstickers were great and crispy too.

Good place and location for those who work across the street at a tech company too cheap to provide you free food. Also, why the vaulted ceilings? I kinda wish a KBBQ or smoke-heavy restaurant moved in here instead to take advantage of that. You could totally eat dumplings and do acrobatics in here, no problem. There is so much space for it. The beef noodle soup was okay. The dumplings soup was pretty good, I like how extra savory/oily the clear broth was. The dumplings were alright. The dry noodles were very good. Overall 3 stars, I wasn't wow-ed by their food offerings other than them having a Pepsi soda fountain that was self served and that the place was very nice and very clean. I heard about this place a year or maybe two ago when they opened one in Irvine. I didn't have the chance to get to try it because it was hella packed and that plaza down in Irvine just gets absolutely slammed at certain times of the day (they had also just opened a HEYTEA across from it down there as well).

Everything is just okay; nothing was bad but I felt like it was mediocre comparatively (to Taiwan lol). You order at the front, get a buzzer, and sit down. Food comes out on a tray for dine-in, but in to-go containers. Pretty casual which is nice. It's bright and relatively large inside, which is good because it got packed on a Saturday night. I would consider this fast casual Taiwanese food - potstickers, dumplings, a variety of noodles (cold and hot), etc. There are a few combos where you can save .50 to a buck ish, compared to ordering individual items if what you want to order happens to be in a combo. We got a few combos to try, the only item we didn't try was the beef noodle soup. Pork chop was pretty good; sweet, pounded flat, not too tendon-y. Chicken wasn't great, lots of tendon-y pieces. My parents liked it more than we did so they said they'll be back for the beef noodle soup. My corn chowder was completely cold, which was disappointing. Mala noodle was also bland; I tried to doctor it up myself with the sauce bar. Mala flavor was weird, not numbing or mala whatsoever, I should've stuck to their classic noodle. The dumpling/potsticker fillings are simple; we got the classic pork cabbage, but there is also corn, kimchi, etc. Relatively bland. The dough wasn't anything to write home about either (not QQ or anything). They just tasted like run of the mill decent frozen potstickers - hence - I was surprised that there were people buying their dumplings in bulk (they sell frozen bags in bulk at the front) There is a sauce bar with garlic soy, chili, soy, vinegar. Garlic soy was not garlicky whatsoever - thought there would be more flavor to the sauces. Overall, not bad, just confused as to why it's so packed for the mediocrity. Seems like everyone is nostalgic for Taiwanese food (most of the patrons seemed to be Taiwanese).

Amazing place, we were impressed after a long time with many disappointment. Service is self serve but the food come out relatively fast. The inside is very clean and bright, smell good. Even with other crowed group I didn't feel suffocated. Food are amazing, my husband is very picky about food and he loved everything. He usually hate potsticker but he loved this one. The skin are thin and the filling are fragrant. The corn and chicken dumpling were great too, I think I like them the most. The wonton skin are also thin and the spicy sauce is not too spicy. I think the hot and sour soup can be more sour. But overall everything were amazing.

Fast food style Chinese food. Good portions for low prices. Lots of seating inside and packaged nicely to take to-go as well. However don't have high expectations because the food is mid; it's just meant to fill you up. If you're craving something like din tai fung but don't want to splurge or wait in line then this place is for you.

Very spacious with high ceilings, quick service, takeout concept but indoor seating, self-serve drinks and sauce station. Food: . Set 4 (Signature Noodles, Signature Potstickers) - flavorful, tolerable spice, noodles can be a bit oily from the chili oil near the end. Wish the dumplings was crispy on both sides. . Beef Noodles - flavorful, savory, would definitely get this again~

Pork Chop with Braised Pork Belly Rice

It's been a little while since I've popped into a BD - but was a nice surprise here in San Jose area. This was much larger than the one in SoCal (Torrance) near my home - and it was filled nearly all tables at 2pm on a Thursday afternoon- always a good sign! I tried the rice bowl with braised pork belly and it was quite delicious- since I hadn't seen that on my local home menu recently. Food was ready in 2-3 minutes and service was quick and efficient. A great alternative to get something "fast" and yet feel bit healthier than most other places and options. Will be back to try the noodles next time (and some dumplings which I know are always great!)

Tried a lot of their items and most turned out to be just okay, with only the bafang taiwanese noodle soup to be the best of the bunch and the one that is worth getting. The beef noodle soup had lots of beef and tendons, all cooked down nicely. It was tender and flavorful. The soup was rich and hearty, with pickled veggies (suan cai) to balance the flavors out and bring in authenticity. The noodles had good chew to them. Getting spicy on the side was nice as you can add to your liking. The signature potstickers were okay, not really crispy or flavorful filing. The signature dumplings were better and had a nice chewy dough wrapper. Good with sauce. There was a sauce station for vinegar and soy sauce, etc by the drinks area. The mini wonton soup had tasty wontons, but the soup was kinda bad and very greasy with no flavor to it. The corn chowder is such a skip, very bad, thick starchy consistency and flavor overall. If you ever go to Taiwan, the McDonald's corn soup is leagues better in taste and consistency. The bafang pork chop was okay; tender. Not the crispy type of pork chop, more like a braised texture. The old fashioned noodle was flavorful and chewy. Maybe like a soy sauce noodle? It was good, but very oily. I was hopeful more things would taste better, but unfortunately a little disappointed. If you order a number of combos, be sure to check if you got everything, as one of our items was missing. The staff was helpful and fixed it no problem.

I got the Combo 4 that came with the noodle and the 6 potstickers and for ~$16, it's an okay deal. Maybe I would just eat a bowl of pho or something but the food here wasn't that bad. Everything was up to par and I would come back if I suddenly craved potstickers. It's a pretty light lunch too. It's also kind of like a fast food setting, which I didn't expect.

We knew to go early, since they don't take reservations and we often see lines outside. We arrived at 10:30am and the front manager said if we can be done my 12:30, that they had a table for us. Party of 12, since we got there early, we agreed. The side room had the biggest round table for us. They ask you what kind of tea you want, we like chrysanthemum tea. You order the items on the paper menu and it comes to your table. So we got going on the orders and TBH, we must be hungry, because we did a lot of orders (we had plenty of left overs). Tried some favorites and a few new items that we thought were unique to their restaurant. My dad has to order crispy noodle and chow fun, and we also ordered chicken fried rice. The service was prompt and attentive, with enough servers to take care of the side room. Since it was the "sun room", the sun was shining through the windows and it was bright. Review from my parents: it was just meh, they prefer the other place near our house. I think the food is good, but probably won't come back again with a big group of us, since they don't have many big round tables. And personally, I prefer the whole experience of the ladies coming around with their carts. Perhaps their dinner menu is also worth trying. Bonus for us is that we can literally walk to this restaurant. Parking could be an issue if you come later.

Ironically, I'm not a fan of them myself--they're a bit too eggy for my taste. When it comes to dim sum quality and service, I honestly prefer Koi Palace. The food quality there is more consistent, and the service is much more phenomenal. The only things this place really has over Koi Palace are the lower prices and those black sesame custard buns my friend loves! I've been here at least a dozen times, and the food can be hit or miss. Sometimes dishes come out cold, like they've been sitting out for a while instead of being served fresh and hot. That said, there are a few items we always order that are consistently good when brought out fresh like salted crispy pork chops, siu mai, shrimp rolls, and fried calamari. Be prepared for a wait on weekends since it gets crowded. If you're coming with a large group, it's best to arrive before noon. The restaurant is located next to a hotel, and finding the restroom can be confusing since it's inside the hotel. Service is also pretty minimal--they seem understaffed, and I almost always have to flag someone down just to get basics like soy sauce, chili, and water. I don't understand why they don't just have the sauce on the table for guest to dip, but I get that they're saving $ on controlling the cost down. On my most recent visit, the experience really went downhill. Our table had food but no soy sauce, chilli nor water, and when I flagged a waiter multiple times, he got visibly annoyed and irritated. It was frustrating--we shouldn't have to chase someone down repeatedly for basic condiments. Being met with attitude for that honestly left a bad impression. That experience alone makes me reconsider coming back. Good food at a good price is one thing, but poor service--especially to that extent--can really ruin the overall experience.

We arrived around 1 PM on a Sunday and were told it would be a 20-25 minute wait. That was fine. But when we were seated we noticed the carts did not have much food. So we ordered 4 dim sum items off the menu. No one told us how long it would take to get these items. We ordered traditional dim sum items and at most dim sum places it would just take a few minutes. But after 20 minutes, nothing had arrived. We asked one of the workers and he angrily told us it takes a long time to prepare them. After 5 minutes one item showed up. But after waiting 20 minutes we decided to leave. As we were paying the bill, another item showed up so we just took it home. What bothered me most was no one apologized for the long wait, offered to somehow compensate, etc. They just acted like another day at Saigon Seafood Harbor.

We had been waiting for an hour and they were not calling anyone for party of 6. So ridiculous. After waiting for 1.5 hours, we were finally seated and guess what? The table that we were seated at has 7 seats -- I looked at the other tables that were empty and they also had 7 seats -- meaning that at any point when a table for 6 or 7 was available, we, party of 6, could have been seated but she chose not to seat us and have us wait. Once we were seated, everything moved rather quickly. We were given a menu to order -- we ordered and within 10-15 minutes, everything was brought out to us. No wait time for the food, it was very fast. The food was decent but nothing memorable. Overpriced dim sum, overpriced food. As much I love Chinese food, I don't see myself coming back to this location because the wait times are crazy even if you come early. And second, the two women at the front counter are very rude, provided very poor customer service. Very annoyed and disappointing experience, wouldn't recommend to anyone.

They probably have a good lawyer telling them how to make mandatory gratuity legal. That is to use phrase "service charge" and print it on menu, which I didn't notice until much later. (From the picture I took.) A small group like us (party of three) should not be subject to mandatory gratuity. No one likes to be forced to tip. Tipping should be at free will. The decor and ambiance is nice - very spacious and elegant. You can join the waitlist from Yelp - always a plus. Highlights: the har gow were plump with large pieces of shrimp and minimal filler. The dumpling skin was on the thicker side (I don't mind it but my wife likes thinner skins.) Maybe that was needed because of how big these were - really packed with shrimp. The mango pudding was delicious and reminded us of childhood, and the shrimp noodle roll was great. Lowlight: I was less happy with the xiaolongbao - there are so many good options for these in the South Bay that this meager interpretation was frankly bordering on blasphemy. I would not order those again. The steamed char siu bao were far better but still could've used more pork in the filling and were slightly soggy and over steamed. The interior design is beautiful, refined elegances, with marble flooring, chandeliers above, bright lighting, big screens where appropriate, numerous private rooms and details even in the bathrooms. It is a banqueting venue with ample space for weddings and large events. Our family particularly love their large round tables that can accommodate up to 12, as sometimes it's hard to eat all together at 1 table. When we were there for Chinese New Year celebration, they had a special menu with different selections to choose from. There was also a large party going on, where they were able to partition off the main space for privacy. Also there was a Tesla test driving promotion out front. Definitely good business to partner with other services like that, knowing their clientele. Overall, highly recommend this beautiful restaurant. Of course, it is on the high end of dining experiences, but for special occasions, I think it's worth it.
