Came to Bafang Dumpling one weekday night and they were pretty busy. At first there were no seats, so we ordered to go, but then a table opened up so we ended up staying to eat there anyway. We waited about 20 minutes for the food which felt a little long, but not terrible considering how packed it was. They are more of a togo kind of place The potstickers were my favorite. The thin size and the texture make them so fun to eat, and they had a really nice crisp on the bottom. I could honestly just eat those on their own and be happy. I got the special Lunar New Year set which came with their signature dumplings in beef noodle soup. The broth was really good, rich and comforting, but I actually preferred the potstickers over the dumplings in the soup. Still tasty, just not my personal favorite style. We also got their signature noodles which had a nice kick to it and really good chewy noodles. Super satisfying if you like a bit of spice.

For being a dumpling place, there wasn't anything special about these. Got the signature dumplings and signature potstickers, and both were on the blander side. Definitely reminded me of frozen section dumplings and potstickers. Sauces were also underwhelming. Didn't eat in, so can't speak to service or ambiance, but I won't be back.

This is our go to Taiwanese restaurant on busy nights. They recently added pork chop rice to the menu and it's only $10 and it's delicious, authentic, and homey. Their pork chop, in my opinion, is the best tasting in California, reminiscent of the Pork Chops King in Taiwan that I really missed but have retired. They are not the same but closest to my ideal favorite that I can find in California. I love their spicy noodles and perfectly fried dumplings as well. I love their sauce of the spicy noodles. It has a very unique taste that's different than the spicy Chinese noodles at other stores. Their place is always kept pretty clean. The people there are usually pretty friendly. I've visited a few BaFang's in Taiwan as it's a popular chain in Taiwan. I like the owners spin on their version of BaFang for US.

Bafang Dumpling is a well known franchise started in Taiwan, now with several locations in the US. Located in the same strip mall with 99 Ranch Market at Jeffrey and Walnut near Fwy 5, this is a convenient location for people in Orange County. While I'm here for pot stickers today, but their braised beef noodle is equally famous. I'm also interested to try the new item on the list: pork chop with braised pork rice. I arrived 2:30 to avoid the lunch crowd. They have several tables of guests but no long line. The young man taking orders was courteous and efficient. The hardest part was waiting for my order as they are made to order. I'm glad I have a Bafang nearby.

Easy parking + no wait time + casual dine-in/takeout + cheap prices for good food. Ordered their signature noodles ($8) and pork chop with braised pork belly rice ($10). Noodles were okay, but we were surprised by how good the rice bowl was. The pork and veggies had the perfect flavor and texture. Would recommend the rice bowl.

There are plenty of parking spaces, but if you want to park in front of the restaurant, it may be limited. Inside the store, has limited seating as well, but it doesn't get packed where it's hard to find a spot. I ordered the Number 2: 12 Signature Potstickers with Wonton Soup. They have a small station where you can get vinegar and soy sauce. The potstickers were crispy and delicious. The Wonton Soup was also good, with the wontons and surprisingly in a decently sized bowl. I thought it was a smaller portion, but it wasn't. It was a good meal! Update to my earlier reviews of this place. Many of you probably have never been to Taiwan in the summer. I have many times, and I do not miss the heat. What I do miss is my go to staple: pork chop and rice. Yes, the working man's meal for millions of Taiwanese workers. They are stuffed into little metal lunch boxes with a fancy chip on the end to keep the food fresh. The working man's lunch is a pork chop, rice, meat sauce, tofu, pickles, and a veggie. Oh, if you have lived in Taiwan, this is making complete sense to you. Guess what? I have good news! Bafang has now created this meal and is selling it for just $10.00 It is as authentic as it gets. The line should be out the door for this. Thank you for restoring a memory in my life.

tried bafang and it was pretty yummy! I liked the old fashioned noodles the most bc it was chewy and simple~ not too crazy on flavor but it was comforting in a way. potstickers were good! tastes like home cooking. pork chop Lu rou fan was also pretty delish. would come back again bc its cheap and cozy and tasty :D it's mainly self service bc you order first at the front and then pick it up when its ready. you also get your own sauce and drinks on the side. and at the end, u have to put your own trays, dishes, and trash away

I heard of Bafang Dumpling for a while now but when I went myself I was really surprised to see how they're basically a casual fastfood concept of a dumpling restaurant that originatd in Taiwan. I cross-checked with my Taiwanese friend and they mentioned how this cheap eats in Taiwan is a big rip off by compare over in the states. Not that it's expensive but it's low quality and not that cheap. I ordered the Combo #3 ($14.95) that came with 6 Signature Potstickers and 6 Signature Dumplings and my choice of a soda or soup. I opted for the hot and soup soup. They give you a pager that goes off when your food is ready. There was limited seating and it was really cramped. Self serve on sauces and utensils. I didn't see staff cleaning my whole time there. When I got my food I initially excited to try it... but biting into it was disappointing. Both fillings were more cabbage than meat. Super blandddd. The hot and sour soup was on the chunky side, which I like in texture, but I did not like in taste. I am definitely not coming bad. Doesn't look like I was missing out on anything.

You know, if the fast food chains that we have around here were more like the fast food chains in Asia, I imagine that the typically negative reputation that so many of them have would be rosier. I know that might sound hyperbolic, but much less so when you consider folks in Taiwan get to enjoy having the likes of Bafang Dumplings so readily available! Funny enough, even though my gf was already familiar and a fan of Bafang from her previous visits to Taiwan, what actually brought us here was the fact that they were one of the only places in the area that was still open for us to grab a late dinner when we got into town. That being said, despite our circumstances being the main reason why we came here, I certainly would've been curious to check out a "fast food noodles and dumpling chain". Of course, it didn't hurt that the menu didn't look too shabby. Although it may not be ridiculously extensive, it has all of the important things - beef noodle soup, sesame noodles, dumplings, potstickers, and more! -- SIGNATURE POTSTICKERS with Pork and Napa Cabbage Filling These were terrific! Each piece was pretty sizable and had a perfectly golden brown crust on the bottom. Also, I really liked how juicy and delicious the fillings were. -- BEEF NOODLE SOUP I was cautiously optimistic for this one and it didn't disappoint! The noodles were cooked well and I thought the beef was really juicy. I do wish the broth had a bit more body/richness to it, but it was still rather beefy and quite flavorful. -- OLD FASHIONED NOODLES Ehh...this was fine. The noodles had a decent bite to them with a subtle sesame flavor. Personally, I thought the taste was too subtle, but it was a plus that it did help offset the soy and chili oil when I would dip the potstickers into them. -- BAFANG PORK CHOP Not bad, but a little uneven for me. On the plus side, the texture of the batter was far more soggy than crispy. On the other, the pork was surprisingly moist and the seasoning and overall flavor was great. -- BAFANG SIGNATURE DUMPLINGS with Pork and Napa Cabbage Filling Just as classic as it is good. The dumplings were pretty plump and the filling had a good ratio of pork to cabbage. However, the best thing about these were the skin - just the right thickness and they weren't the least big soggy or overcooked. -- CORN & CHICKEN DUMPLINGS Not as good as their Signature Dumplings, though, to be fair, I'm not as big of a fan of corn & chicken dumplings. While the skins were still fine, the filling wasn't as impressive - somewhat bland with a stronger taste of corn than chicken. Compared to what you can get from one of the many Taiwanese restaurants around, Bafang's noodles and dumplings do have a bit of a "previously frozen/mass produced" feel to them. However, the food here is still pretty solid for what it is and undeniably convenient for a quick meal, whether you're looking to dine in or grabbing your food to-go. This may not be the first place I'd look to hit up again when I'm back in town, but I definitely wouldn't be opposed to coming back for more. Can't wait until they open in the Bay Area so I can try their frozen dumplings at home as well!

I heard the owner is the same one behind 85°C in DJ, so I had high expectations! and they didn't disappoint! I got to sample a bit of everything, but the standout dish was definitely the beef noodle soup. The broth was rich, the beef tender, and the radish? Mind-blowing. You have to try the original dumplings! don't forget to dip them in both the hot sauce and soy garlic sauce for that perfect flavor combo. Game-changer! There was a small mix-up with my to-go order (they forgot the noodles), but the manager handled it quickly and professionally, remade the dish in just a few minutes and even offered complimentary drinks to make up for it. Really appreciated that level of service. It does get a little loud inside during peak hours, but there's plenty of seating. Definitely worth a visit if you're craving bold, comforting flavors and great hospitality.

Was looking forward to potstickers after watching YouTubers talk about how good they are in Taiwan. But honestly quite disappointed. Got the potstickers and wonton soup combo #2...the signature potstickers didn't have much flavors, even after I dipped them into the garlic soy sauce. The chili pepper fried chicken was kind of strange, stringy meat. Pork chop was decent. Maybe the Bafang in Taiwan are better...the Irvine one needs to work on elevating flavors.

I was craving some sort of Asian food and stumbled upon this place. I ended up ordering the #4 signature noodle, signature potsticker and a side of spicy Won Ton. I'll start off by saying how clean this place is even the restrooms service is also very good. Now the food. Everything was delicious. The Won Tons had a slight touch of spice but not bad. The noodles were amazing. I want a larger serving next time. The potstickers were also delicious. I loved my food, and would definitely come back.

Very bad service and experience. I ordered take out for noodle and potstickers. It's not busy hour, the store was more than half empty. I waited in the store for about 40 minutes, and then I get notified by the staff that they forgot to cook my food. Ahh?? Of course I asked for a refund for the food they forgot to cook, two staffs took about 10 minutes to figure out how to initiated a refund. Don't ever come to this place since they even failed the very basic things as a restaurant. BIG NO! read more

Incredible new Taiwanese dumpling spot!! The food was delicious. The service was friendly and helpful. They have vegetarian options. There's also plenty of seating and a neat little outdoor area with grass perfect if you're grabbing dumplings with your pup! I highly recommend the garlic soy sauce with the dumplings. Even with being just their soft opening, they seem to have everything together. We'll definitely be returning soon. read more

Cheap easy fast dumplings is what this place is known for. However, I like its spicy beef noodle soup more than its dumplings. Beef is so tender that you can literally separate with your fork/chopsticks. The soup has just right amount of kick. Service is just like any other fast food joint. Mostly self-served. read more

No one speaks English well enough to take orders properly. This is my third time here and my experience has been consistently poor. Long wait (similar to sit down restaurant not fast food), mediocre food at best, increasing prices in the short time they have been open, bad service that does not communicate, confusing ordering/menu process. Will not be returning, and honestly I'm telling my friends to avoid this place read more

we've been anticipating the opening of bafang irvine for as long as we can remember as we've seen the construction progress from start to finish (not hard to miss on jeffrey rd) and lo and behold the 10th bafang store is finally open! food quality is as good as their original location in HH- where my hubs and i used to drive out to because we loooove the food and beverages. family faves- signature dumpling / potstickers, chili chicken, mala beef noodle soup, and the variety of xiaocais. sadly the only beverage offerings at this location is limited to soda fountain and juices in the cold fridge :( here's to hoping maybe once things are dialed in the soy / boba drinks will make their debut?! if not, looks like soy awesome is still a good reason for us to drive out to the 626. read more

There are many different types of beef noodle soups out there but this is what I have had growing up in Taiwan in the 90s. Imho, this is the authentic taste. Unlike most mom and pop shops that each bowl is a draw of luck, you can really taste the consistency and the meticulous calculation of flavor SOP. The broth is sweet and savory and beef is in large chunks. They give you two types of beef in each bowl, there's the traditional beef shank and flavorful beef rib. Everything in the bowl is like match in heaven. Besides cash box in Taiwan, I'd say this is the second best beef noodle soup out there. $10 dollar pork chop rice is a gift for all working professionals around the area. Where can you find a good size rice bowl for less than 20 these days? And as an added in bonus, you don't need to tip. need I say more? read more

Not as good as the ones in Taiwan for obvious reasons, but good enough. Be prepared to wait for seating or buzz around like flies waiting for someone to leave. During the soft opening there wasn't really any process to wait for seating other than standing around which I hope they improve when they officially open. It's a fast casual place where you order and get your food at the counter. Yes, this means it's loud. All food is served in disposable containers, none of them compostable -- for the eco-conscious, bring your own chopsticks and soy sauce containers and water bottle. This makes for a great place to grab a bite for a picnic though. Potstickers and dumplings are served in sets of 6, with a discount for ordering 12 (unlike in Taiwan where you can buy 1 at a time). A few vegetarian options. The spicy wonton dish is good but seems like it contains peanuts for anyone allergic. You can also order online but I haven't tried it. read more

Finally went in and tried it for the first time - and on Christmas Day! Service and ambiance are great. Food was good. Pricing and portions were fair. We ordered dumplings, potstickers, signature noodles, hot & sour soup, and dumpling soup... spent about $50-$60 after tax/tip. Parking is kind of a pain but other than that, positive experience! read more

First time at Bafang- fried won tons were excellent, signature beef noodle broth was amazing, beef was so tender, and loved the white carrot in the mix! The "hand made at the restaurant" signature potstickers and chicken/corn dumplings were delicious as well. Love the garlic soy sauce too. Very clean restaurant as well. Service was excellent and fast! Only downside is that it can be hard to get parking. Will definitely return - and get the frozen dumplings too. read more

The location has limited parking if you want to be right in front of the restaurant but there is ample parking if you park by 99 ranch. Came on a weekend evening and it was busy! The ambiance is clean but tables are on a first come first serve basis. The establishment has some high chairs but not many. The bowl of beef noodles (for dine in) seems massive, the to-go seems like a smaller portion. The beef was nice and tender, the broth was rich but sweet. Dumplings were moist and gently fried. Potstickers were good, I would recommend the dumplings over potstickers. Their special noodles were tasty but needed a protein, I would suggest ordering a pork chop on the side. The price to order online to go is the same as in person. If you are with kids, I would recommend ordering online while on the way there to avoid the 10-15 minute wait. Don't forget to hit up the condiments! They have a sauce area for chili garlic, soy sauce & black vinegar. read more

The potstickers are definitely delicious like the ones I had in Taiwan, the beef noodles had pickled cabbage in it was very flavorful, small bowl of wontons are nice too, we were afraid of the line when we saw their video for grand opening so we went early for lunch, and there was no line, tables are available too! It is clean and tasty. The only thing is that the small side dishes were not worth the price they charge, not tasty. All the rest were good! read more

Ok... I've had enough of nasty Irvine reviewers dropping 1-star reviews after a mediocre experience. Yes, the flood is not great. And yes, some 1-star reviews are legit, but some of them are just downright nasty for no good reason. So I am posting a protest 5-star review. Previous Review: Dumplings were good, not great. Noodle was just OK, and served not-so-hot. Pork chop was a real disappointment. Overall, it offers ok food at a reasonable price. read more

I've been several times and tried all the dishes. The highlight is definitely the beef noodle soup - both the spicy and non-spicy variants are good depending on your preference. It's easily better than A&J's Beef Noodle soup. Almost everything else on the menu; dumplings steamed or pan fried, fried pork chop, wantons, etc are all forgettable. This place has almost no seating and seems to be designed for you to buy to go. There is some limited amount of seating to satisfy whatever minimum standards of being a restaurant but it's otherwise actively non-hospitable for people trying to eat there. read more

Bafang is a clear winner in a sea of dumpling joints. From the team that brought 85c to the Us, this Taiwanese staple is a welcome addition to the Irvine food scene. As someone who enjoyed Bafang in Taiwan I was amazed the flavors and textures here were spot on, that is quite impressive. Their signature potstickers, chicken corn dumplings and signature dried noodles were all delicious, packed with flavor and had the necessary QQ texture to tie it all together. I had no idea this was their 10th location in Socal, I had only been to their Rowland Heights location before. Surprisingly decent for a chain spot. Better than a lot of independent dumpling spots& signature noodles are solid but lack seasoning, always ask for side sauces to add to the noodles read more
