The. Best. Burger. PERIOD.
To preface, I've never been a smash burger type of guy... and still don't think I am. Given my aversion to flat burgers, I was initially skeptical when my wife wanted to go for a date night... However, Bad Jimmy's is the exception to the rule.
The vibe is super cool. Phoenix isn't exactly known for it's culture, but when you walk in and you immediately feel this sense of community and heart that Jimmy has put into this place. The decor is unique, and the music is always great too - I've heard Ice Cube, Michael Jackson, reggaeton, Vanessa Carlton, and just about everything in between.
There aren't a lot of menu options... either you get a double burger, or a single burger. You get fries, or you don't get fries. If you want dessert, you get soft serve ice cream or a float. Pretty straightforward - when you do something well, double down on it. They've recently added wings, which slapped.
I always get the double burger. It's simple: bun, cheese, patties, not-so-secret spread, and onions. There is so much beauty in the simplicity. I'm not sure how they do it, but the flavor of the burger is mouth-watering, and every bite is this gooey, melted, cheesy, savory morsel of awesomeness. You get lost in it, and before you know it, you're on your last bite, yearning for more.
The fries are amazing too - waffle style, perfectly seasoned and cooked to a nice crisp.
Recently, they added wings to the menu. Once they're sold out, they're done, but we were fortunate to get an order last time we went. There were two options: dry rub or buffalo, and we went with the buffalo. They were a prefect balance of crispy and chewy, with outrageous flavor.
We went back to get some soft serve ice cream, and I got a twist with the addition of sea salt + olive oil (definitely something I haven't seen before). It was a healthy serving, and the sea salt and olive oil brought out the flavor of the ice cream even more. My only knock is that I've been to BJ's about 4x now, and this was the first time the ice cream machine was actually working. Given, I'm not going there for the ice cream, so I never really minded much... but glad I finally got some.
Overall, this is my favorite burger spot in the Valley, and probably top three of all time. Great for a quick bite, date night, or a nice sit down meal (they have a full bar, too). Can't recommend this place enough! read more
