Our experience at Hopdoddy was wonderful! We sat at the full service tables attached to the bar. Ben was our bar tender/server. He was conversational, prompt and attentive. I had an El Diablo with GF adaptations and sweet potato fries. The fries were HOT (temperature wise) and well salted. The EL Diablo is not for the faint of heart. I sat at the table literally crying it was so spicy. For most, that sounds unappealing, but for the spicy food lover, this is a compliment! Now, for the, meh part. I ordered my burger with pink (as much pink as they would allow). My burger was well done. The general consensus on reviews is, the "degree of doneness is about the same all around". I too have to agree. If the kitchen cooks everything to the same temp just say they are all served at the same temp. I my recent visit I was a little disappointed with the service and food. I had never had the sliders before so I ordered them for happy hour. When they were brought to my table I opened the one closest to me and it was mostly bread with a corner of a piece of burger pattie on it. When I took it up to the counter and asked one of the girls if I could get that one slider replaced with one that had a pattie on it, she said that's how they come from the way they cut it. So I asked for a refund and she was happy to process the refund. She wasn't rude or a anything, but she seemed as though she didn't want to be there. If you are looking for a burger with a definite kick to it, this should be your go to burger. The habanero peppers added to the jalapeno peppers put it in the extreme heat range. I managed to eat it all even though my mouth and tongue objected vehemently. Next time I'm going to order fries. Definitely a good value burger at less than $15. read more

I had the classic but substituted the 100% grass fed patty. We did have it delivered, and when I opened my container, it smelled a little gamey. However, it didn't taste gamey so that's good. I grew up with on a farm that had grass fed pasture cows, so I was a tad worried about the smell, but it was fine. I did miss pickles in this burger but the rest of the ingredients were good, and I really liked the soft egg bun! How you go about ordering is confusing. Besides myself I saw other first timers confused as to the process. This needs to be rethought. If it's fast casual place, put the menu on the menu board above cashier area. I had the classic with bacon and cheese. Good burger, nice size and good flavor. Fries were average, I think it was the lack of flavor. Tables need to be cleaned regularly, I was placed at a table that needed to be wiped off. At time of payment it asks for upfront tip, I find this annoying as I've not received anything at that point. I'd come again since the burgers are good. Ordered two burgers, two mini shakes, and Parmesan fries to-go. The shakes were absolutely incredible. The flavors I tried were the tres leches and the brownie one. The mini size is so perfect for trying the shakes and flavors out and if you are having a bunch of other food. The burgers were absolutely massive and we probably could have spilt one between two people. Very high quality ingredients and the burgers were perfectly cooked. We somehow hadn't been here yet, so we went in cautiously optimistic, which was a mistake, as it turns out. We kicked things off with the Holiday Sour, which sounded great on paper: Brother's Bond Bourbon, Disaronno, black cherry purée. What showed up was... pleasant juice. If there was alcohol in that glass, it was merely a suggestion. Festive? Sure. Sour? Barely. Spirited? Absolutely not. The green chili queso fries arrived next and briefly convinced us the night might be salvageable. Shoestring fries, nicely salted, and a queso that's clearly made in-house and actually knows what it's doing. Easily the best thing we ate. The fries could've used another 30-45 seconds in the fryer, but the queso was working overtime and nearly carried the entire meal on its back. Then came the Double Bacon Jam Burger, and any remaining optimism quietly left the building. Two ¼ lb patties, American cheese, mustard-grilled onions, pickles, mayo, and a tomato "bacon jam" that had apparently never met bacon. It was all tomato, zero smoke, zero depth, more marinara-adjacent than bacon jam. The patty was cooked fine but had strong frozen-puck energy, and there's no option to choose the cook temp, which explains why everything felt aggressively average. Service didn't help. This is order-at-the-counter fast-casual, which is fine in theory, but not what we were expecting. Everything came out immediately. Fries hit the table in under a minute, drinks followed seconds later, and the burger arrived before we'd even processed the fries. It felt rushed and impersonal, like we were on a timer. By the time we tried to juggle everything, our food was already going cold which somehow matched the overall vibe. Bottom line: not the worst burger I've ever had, but that's a very low bar. In a town full of genuinely good burgers, this one barely competes. Plenty of better options nearby, and we'll be going back to those. read more

I don't think I'd ever been to a Hopdoddy before, but I was in the area and decided to try it tonight with my sister for a quick eat. I got traditional fries, which were pretty standard, but the burger was good. Usually I think burgers are heavy, but this one was strangely pretty light, so much so that I probably could've downed another one even though I wasn't hungry. I think it was mostly because the bun was like a softer brioche type of bread. I had also cut the burger in half and it didn't fall apart, so it was pretty sturdy. Couldn't tell if it was juicy or oily, maybe both, but regardless it was yum! Had to order at the cashier and from there we were assigned a place to sit, where they later brought the food out. I have found delicious burgers at different restaurants around the Phoenix area. One of those special restaurants which has a lot more than burgers is Hopdoddy (though it is called a burger bar). Hopdoddy offers burgers, sharable fries, fried chicken, loaded brussels, boozy drinks, beer, wine, salads, kids meals, shakes, and non-alcoholic drinks. My favorite are the burgers, fries, and shakes (all classics). I prefer the Classic Burger, Parmesan Truffle Fries, and a Chocolate Shake (just in case you want to surprise me with something from Hopdoddy). All of the items I've ever ordered from Hopdoddy are tasty and delicious! Today, I just ordered a milkshake on the app, which was ready when I arrived minutes later (in the middle of the work day). The Phoenix location in Arizona is one of many locations among eight states. There is a large indoor area with a big bar with many seats and then plenty of indoor tables with chairs along with an outdoor seating area. When you walk into the restaurant, keep walking straight and curve to the left for the ordering counter. You'll pass the bar along the way. The line is designed so that it goes very quickly usually though if there are a lot of orders ahead of you, it does take a bit longer for orders to come out. Feel free to order dishes in advance on the app, and then they may be ready when you arrive. Just look for the To Go area near the register. If you are using a reward, make sure to redeem it and gather the number displayed on your phone and show that to the cashier (though wait until you are at the register to redeem it). Regular hours are Sunday through Thursday 11 AM to 10 PM, Friday and Saturday 11 AM to 11 PM. Happy Hour is Monday through Thursday from 3-6 PM. There are 1/2 of cocktails, beer, wine, and sliders during Happy Hour. I'd also recommend joining the Daddy Rewards program at https://www.hopdoddy.com/loyalty and also download the app. There are three levels of rewards: Level 1: Headliner (The Sometimer), Level 2: Rockstar (The Regular), and Level 3: Legend (The Ultimate Doddy Fan). When I walked in I was confused on what to do, how to sit and order. It looked like a restaurant you are served but it's not. Though they do have a bar you can sit at and be served. I ordered a double bacon jam burger and it was good. I am on an animal based diet so I didn't get the bun. Came here for a casual first date, and this was a perfect spot for it. The restaurant is counter-order, with food brought to your table afterwards. Of the options that sounded the best ( Magic Shroom, Double Bacon Jam, Thunderbird), I ended up going with the Thunderbird. The Thunderbird was absolutely delicious, but the bacon was the true star. It added such a nice saltiness, and was perfectly crisp. I got a side of fries and a Diet Coke to round this entire meal out. The fries were good, nicely seasoned, and so fresh tasting. The food aside, the service was friendly and quick. The only thing that does not give this experience 5 stars, is the pricing. It's misleading cause I thought that's all there was. I walked right passed three menu which was on the back side of a booth. And they have way more than what's pictured in the wall. The dip is awesome. Fries are crispy and passed the crunchy fry test (still crispy after it gets cold is a winner for me). Burgers came out about 8 minutes later. I always forget how much I love this place until we go there again and I keep thinking "we should come here more often". This is a place for burgers and fries, and also has a full bar and boozy milkshakes (cool if that's your thing). They have a somewhat limited menu food wise, but they have chicken tenders with sauce and different types of patties for your burgers. They also have sweet potato fries. It's basically bar food, but done really well. The truffle parmesan fries are my favorite and I've been known to go there for a bowl of those alone with a frosty Coke Zero. I've tried the other fries and never had a bad batch - I love that they are the skinny ones. Their soda machine is set to perfection with the right amount of syrup and fizz so I know I can reliably get a good fountain drink there. You order at the counter then they assign you a table with a number and you wait for your food to show up. They're very quick. Fries usually come out first which is excellent. It's a nice step up from fast food and a clean, open place to sit and enjoy food with friends and family. Parking is in a shopping center and easy to find. The burger was juice and the brussles were nice, crispy and were a delicious component. I loved it so much that ive recreated burger bowls at home with brussels. Vivi, who appeared to be the manager, was dismissive and argumentative when we requested not to be seated at a table facing direct sunlight. Rather than accommodating this simple health-related request, she insisted on debating our seating options. After finally settling at a table, our food was served in a visibly wet bowl. The moisture was not oil, but water--an unacceptable and unappetizing presentation. We requested a refund and no one made any effort to recover the situation or show concern for our experience. The lack of customer service, and accountability was disappointing. Definitely will not return, nor will I recommend. Grabbed dinner tonight after attending the Saturday session of AmericaFest 2025 downtown Phoenix at this place! You walk in and order up at the counter and then they bring your food to you. The service was great as we had never been here before (visiting from Indiana) and were very helpful! Our food was pretty good. My son got the double bacon jam burger and he rated his a 4/5 but he's a tough sell. I got the Wagyu Double Burger and mine was on point! My wife got the double bacon jam bowl and liked hers but didn't love the bacon jam. She rated hers a 4/5. I rated mine a 5/5. They brought out the burgers and then we realized we had to order the fries separately... Oops. I've been going to Hopdoddy for years and used to absolutely LOVE the burgers. They were always juicy, flavorful, and messy in the best way possible -- the kind where the juice drips down your hands while you eat. It was one of my favorite burger spots. Unfortunately, the last two visits have been completely different. Both burgers were dry, flavorless and honestly disappointing enough that I couldn't even finish them. Today I asked the manager if anything had changed because the burgers no longer tasted anything like they used to. She insisted that nothing had changed and that my burger was prepared correctly. She did offer to remake it, which I appreciate, but after being told the dry burger I received was exactly how it's supposed to be made now, I declined because there didn't seem to be any point. What disappointed me most wasn't just the food -- it was being told that this dry, flavorless version is apparently now the standard. Visited June 2025 First time at Hopdoddy and already planning the next! Order at the counter and then they tell you which table they are assigning you and then the friendly staff delivers the food. I had the Classic Cheeseburger which was juicy, no fuss, done absolutely right. My friend tried the Magic Shroom and let's just say... I stole a bite (okay, maybe two). The addition of the grilled mushrooms just took the already incredible burger up another level or three! And yep both buns were lightly toasted which for me is key to a great burger! We split the green chili queso fries and I'm now fully obsessed with that dip. Obssessed enough that I'd go back just for that. Also grabbed the shishito peppers which weren't too spicy, nicely smoky, and shockingly addictive. Ate way more of them than we expected to...they were just that good! Cool vibe, casual, friendly staff, and a menu full of temptations.
