Enjoyed an amazing dining experience last night at Bacquet's. The French Onion soup is incredibly flavorful. I agree it's the best I've ever had. I don't have the words for the sauce that accompanied the prawns and kobe beef----delicious, fantastic, amazing, exquisite may come close. The ambiance is the perfect mix of rich and casual. I would be comfortable dressed up or in jeans/shorts like we were after a day of sightseeing. Our little dog was welcomed with his own water, meal and sitting area. The owners and wait staff were very friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to visiting again soon to try the recommended seafood pasta and rack of lamb. read more

A little French wanna-be in the middle of nowhere Boise Idaho! I was there for a business trip and stumbled upon this little restaurant. I was intrigued with all the 5 stars on Yelp. I had to try it. I started with the escargot. It was on the chewier side and darker in color than I expected. The size was definitely much larger than the ones in France...possibly a completely different breed. The flavor was butter butter and extra butter. Perhaps they tried to cover up the less than superior quality of the escargot with extra butter and garlic. The next course was the restaurant's self claimed "Famous French Onion Soup". I'm not sure who proclaimed that title but it didn't live up to it. It was over-baked. The cheese was burnt and inedible after the first bite. The bread was soggy with no texture. The broth was watery with no flavor depth. It was almost as though they opened up a can of Campbell's Beef Broth and poured it over torn up Wonder Bread and topped it off Velveeta Cheese and threw it under the broiler for 15 minutes. Voila...French Onion Soup! The next course was Garlic Shrimp. It lived up its name...shrimp and garlic! Nothing to rave about other than don't order that on a date unless you're avoiding that good night kiss. The final course was Creme Brûlée. It was as expected...creamy, sweet and a little burnt. They could have torched the sugar more to allow for my spoon to crack the top shell. Instead my spoon just sunk in without the initial thrill of the crack. The wine selection was subpar. They take pride in taking you to their "wine library" to show you their collection. It was no different than waking down Safeway's wine aisle. There was nothing spectacular. Just overpriced usual suspects. I opted for a glass of their "French" Chardonnay. When I saw the label, I laughed because I saw the same label at a gas station called Tom's Thumb in Scottsdale, Arizona (not France). I think it was selling for $14.99. Its really, really cute. To create such ambiance in a strip mall in eagle is really amazing! How you order your wine by walking yourself to the wine bar and sampling everything is really unique. The guitar singer is romantic. Its nice... That being said the food has to back up all that ambiance and it falls short. Not because its not good, but because its overpriced. The $15 french onion doesn't work Im sorry, its ok/good- not great, and not the best ever as the menu claims. The pork gorgonzola- delicious sauce, is it a $27 entree? No more like $22. The seafood pasta was a stand out! Huge portion of so much seafood, delightful flavors. I will say the opera cake was executed perfectly. I am familiar with the technical standard of how its supposed to be and this was spot on. Its a place you would visit a few times a year. If the pricing were slightly better it would tip the scales to visit more often as it is a special place in the area. read more

I visited Bacquets on a Thursday evening with a reservation. During this visit, I got the worst service I have ever received at any restaurant. We arrived just before our time, waited for a table to be prepared and everything was going well - ordered appetizers, dinner and picked out a bottle of wine. We didn't get bread with our appetizers until we reminded our waiter. But once our entrees came out, we were checked on within a few minutes of receiving them and then ignored for over 30 minutes. We tried to make contact, but our waiter and the other staff almost seemed like they were actively avoiding us. We saw tables all around us getting service by our waiter and others. It was busy and they were a bit understaffed, but there was no interaction with us after that first check-in from the entrees. Once our waiter finally came by, no apologies or anything - it was almost like he totally forgot we had been ignored. It really soured the night, and made our visit really upsetting. We had visited previously about a year ago, we got stellar service, but that was not what occurred this Thursday night. In total, we were at the restaurant for almost 2 hours, with most of that time just waiting for service. It is really unfortunate because the food was wonderful, but because of the total lack of service, I cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

I haven't written a Yelp review in quite a while, but I had to log in to review this wonderful restaurant! Yesterday was my husband's birthday, and I wanted to surprise him with a special dinner date. I was nervous and wanted everything to go well as we rarely have evenings out since having our daughter. After doing my research, Bacquet's looked promising! We started our meal out at the small bar and were able to taste a few wines before making our selection. Our waiter was wonderful with his suggestions and found us the perfect wine based on our preferences. Shortly after, we were treated to lovely live music with an adorable set of romantic songs. The singer was a delight. We were served a nice crusty bread with butter for the table. Next, we ordered apps! We selected the pate and scallops with saffron. Oh my gosh. They were amazing! The pate was savory yet smoky, with a wonderful richness. The scallops were cooked to perfection, and the sauce was its perfect companion. For our entrees, we ordered the duck confit and etouffee. The portions were generous and again, a total slam dunk. I had the etouffee and the shrimp was tender, the vegetables still had a nice bite to them, and everything was seasoned and sauced perfectly. Our dishes arrived to the table piping hot and fresh! For dessert, we ordered the opera cake and chocolate mousse. Again, perfection! Our entire evening we were also provided with excellent service. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and just lovely. I'm so glad I chose this restaurant for our special evening! We have traveled to France and this establishment is an excellent representation of the amazing dining France has to offer. Two words. HALIBUT CHEEKS. Being a well traveled foodie in her fifties, it's a freak incident when I come across something I've never eaten before. Had an incident last night here while celebrating my mom's 86th. Ate the cheeks of an unfortunate fish prepared piccata style with roasted veggies and fingerling potatoes. And loved every outstanding bite of it. Contributing equally to the wonderment of our evening was the service. We were treated like friends. I always appreciate the opportunity to meet the artist behind the food and was honored to do so at the end of our meal. We have been about 5 times. Always had excellent service and good food. Different and unique seafood specials offered. I had salmon belly but there was a lobster pasta that also sounded delicious. I really enjoyed the seafood pasta on the regular menu. I did not take a picture but I see other people posted pics of it. It comes in a big Paella pan. I took the leftovers home and ate it for 3 meals, thats how big it is. My husband got the veal picatta twice so he obviously liked that. We went in the summer and sat on the patio and had wine and appetizers also, which were good. They don't have a wine menu. They ask you to go to the bar and pick out wine, but both times we ate dinner I just asked the server to bring me a glass of something that would go with my dinner and they did. Great French restaurant in Eagle, ID. Been open four months. Chef Bacquets is a wonderful Chef and his wife and team are outstanding! Food choices from Ribeye steak to Monkfish to Pasta were to die for. The food is appealing, delicious and comforting. Our server Amy was fun to work with. Professional, funny and she knows her food and wine. Chef comes out regularly to talk to the restaurant's patrons. He is a larger than life character, and is an accomplished chef and gives you great suggestions on wine to pair with dinner. So did our server. The restaurant is done up in a warm, French inspired decor. Tasteful and fun. A great place to dine for sure. read more

The food and service is amazing however I will never dine there again. My family which was my 85 year old Dad, his wife, a relative visiting from the east coast, my husband and myself (all of us well over 60 years old) had a wonderful meal there last night with one big problem. Apparently the wife of the chef is surprisingly unhinged, unprofessional, and extremely rude. Our dinner party was seated about 10 feet from the restroom Corredor with no other dinner parties or guests in our path. When we were seated none of us were wearing masks even though there was a sign asking us to do so. About halfway through our meal I had to use the restroom and a woman followed me there, waited for me to come out and started yelling at me demanding that I cannot go into the dining area unless I put a mask on. Then she slammed the door which automatically locked us in the Corredor where I felt I was going to be physically assaulted. Thank goodness there was a young man that just so happen to have come out of the kitchen that she shouted at to go out the back door and around to the front and open the door to the dining room. I did put on the mask because I didn't want to be assaulted by this woman who claimed to be the owner of the restaurant about 10 times. Extremely unnerving to say the least. I told my husband what happened and he got up walked to the restroom with no mask and no problems and came back to our table so that kind of was strange as well. Not wanting to make a scene we finished our very expensive meal and left. Around 8 o'clock I decided to call to speak to the manager just in case they were unaware that they had a person that was threatening their customers. I got the woman who actually did that to me on the phone who promptly hung up on me. So enter at your own risk !!! Plus when I was looking them up online a story came up that was on the news about the same type of thing happening in 2020 where the same woman said that she was assaulted by a group of people in their 20s that did not want to wear masks last year so I think this could be some kind of social personality defect this woman has. Treating people that go in for fine dining to an expensive meal like that is just bad business and frankly unforgivable behavior. Never again. We live in Eagle and Meridian so we are local and have lots of friends. read more

The server forgot to put in our order bring our burrata, so I can't say how that was. The sever was very inexperienced at fine dining and was really rushing us to order quickly. I love this place. I had the flatbread with tiger prawns, scallops, pesto, onions, and cheese. It was wonderful. It was my birthday and my friend had the salmon with rice which was also very tasty. I did order the tuxedo cake which I was not a fan of. It was a bit stale. I had tasted it before when I was there for a dinner party. And it was so yummy. This is a delightful European restaurant with charm and excellent service. I've been here for dinner and lunch and found both meals to be delicious. My lunch chicken piccata was tart, but not overdone with a lovely smooth sauce. I'd have licked the plate if I thought no one was looking. A fine dining restaraunt with a casual atmosphere. The French Onion soup is the best in the Valley. The caprese salad is delicious and a work of art. Our son will eat anything on the menu that features truffles and he has never been disappointed. My husband always enjoys the escargot. Salmon and scallops are always cooked to perfection. All food is fresh and cooked to order. Wine selection is extensive, and wait staff knowledgeable and able to make recommendations. My friend recommended we meet here for a 2pm lunch. The reviews were great so I was looking forward to it. We waited quite a while for the one server working. My friend ordered the French Onion Soup, I the Seafood Flat bread. We also each ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. I remember the server stating that was a good choice with the seafood... When our meals came, after a considerable wait, I told my friend I wasn't sure mine was the seafood. I saw a lot of bacon and cheese. I couldn't remember if the seafood included bacon. I ate 2 bites and couldn't detect any seafood. I went into the restaurant (we were outside) and told our server I didn't think I got the seafood flatbread. She stated that no, it was the traditional flatbread. I stated I ordered the seafood. She came out and removed the plate and stated she put the new order in. She came by sometime later to check if we needed another glass of wine. Again, it was a considerable wait. My friend was done eating by the time the correct meal arrived. I did enjoy my meal, as late as it was. When our sever brought our checks she stated she removed the charge for the flatbread I never ordered, like this was a favor to me! Normally with a mistake like this on the part of the server, one of several things happen. At the least they offer to wrap up the food they can't sell. If you don't want it, a complimentary wine or dessert is offered, possibly your dish is even comped. Maybe this is the French way, to just not charge me for a wrong order, and do nothing to make it right. Even if the right food had come out quickly, I would have felt better! My wife and I went to Bacquet's last night for the first time to enjoy a Valentine's Day Dinner. We weren't disappointed! The $69 pp five course, price fixe dinner was superb, as was the friendly staff! For a start, the waitress had me walk up to their wine wall to choose a wine for the evening. We usually turn to California Central Coast or Washington wines but the owner steered us towards a French wine of a Syrah varietal type that was excellent and reasonably priced. The meal started with Oysters Rockefeller. I consider myself an aficionado after working at an oyster bar in my twenties. They were phenomenal! Many restaurants that offer Oysters Rock smother them in cheese with a little bit of spinach on top to the point where you don't even know there's an oyster in them. Not here! The cheese and spinach were blended in perfect portions so that one didn't over power the other. Finally they were cooked to perfection where the cheese had just the right amount of crisp and the oysters were cooked to perfection! The second course was a mix of asparagus covered with a fried egg, and a balsamic vinegar reduction, all bathed in what if I remember correctly was a light cream of celery soup. It was amazing! Course three was a prawn pasta with chunks of garlic and asparagus. Again, perfectly proportioned and was large enough to be an entree on it's own. Course four was what I think was a small top sirloin and mashed potatoes in a pomegranate reduction sauce. Again, this could have been an entree in it's own right. There was a name for the steak but I forgot... It was cooked to a medium rare plus with a nice sear, just the way I like it. Finally, dessert was Cherries Jubilee over vanilla ice cream, of course alongside rich coffee. We'll be back next Valentine's Day and can't wait to try some of the sumptuous looking dishes on the regular menu. On a side note, all of their ingredients are fresh and as I recall the waitress telling us, locally sourced if possible and made fresh per meal. Food good to very good, but the service was abysmal. They were extremely slow, and after nearly an hour we had finished a bottle of wine, were ready to open a second, and hadn't even received bread. When we complained, we were met with defensiveness and comments that were obsequious, condescending and patronizing, explaining that "this is the way things are done in France". Several of us have been to France many times and eaten in world class restaurants, and one of our party is an accomplished chef. We were all appalled. We brought two wines and bought a bottle for $112. Despite this corkage was not waived on either of the other bottles. Prices were extremely high, particularly for Boise, with one entree more than $60. Because our party was larger than 5, we were charged an automatic 20% gratuity, including on both the wine and the $60 corkage, making the corkage $72. Unheard of in any of our experiences, and to us, unconscionable. And then they had the audacity to ask if we wished to leave additional gratuity. We wrote on the bill, "are you kidding?" In summary, good food, but worth neither the price nor the attitudes of the staff, including the owner. None of us will ever return. Don't ever eat here. The food is greasy and nasty. Was surprised how fatty all 3 dishes were. French onion soup was a bowl of cheese with a little soup for garnish. A flat bread was similar, heavily cheesed and hard to eat much, no finesse at all. Worst of all just heard that the owners have decided to be mercenaries for the vaccine companies and aggressively force their own healthy customers wear masks in the restaurant, even to the point of telling customers to leave the restaurant in the middle of dinner for not wearing a mask to the bathroom. Smart business. You can keep your nasty food. If you read the insecure owner's bizarre replies to anyone criticizing the quality of the food or service, she blames them for her issues. I guess the joke will be on her when the doors shut soon on this place. read more

Was pretty ok. My wife was not very impressed. The food was good, just not great. Kind of underwhelming. Wasn't bad though, Just meh.

Fantastic food. Everything we order here is top notch. The chef (Franck) and his wife (Michelle) run a lovely French restaurant. The French onion soup is so delicious. The entrees vary by season, and we loved the salmon, the pork roast, the scallops. Just wonderful. Let the servers guide you to find the perfect wine for your meal. It's European style, so you're not being rushed out the door for the next group. And the portions are overly generous. It is not skimpy like French cuisine is known to be. Cozy interior and warm patio on sunny days (and Idaho summery nights!) We have brought many friends here and they loved it. You will not be disappointed!! read more

The food here is just ok, definitely overrated. We started with the frog leg appetizer which wasn't bad. We had the salmon which was "meh" at best (Barbacoa's salmon is much better) and we finished with the flourless chocolate cake which tasted the same as everywhere else that serves it. Overall, we weren't impressed and won't be back. Thankfully, there are other restaurants in the TV to get a good meal. I'd recommend Crave for its upbeat atmosphere and delicious food and drink.
