We use to go here once a week. With this new situation we have been ordering lunch curbside about once a week. We went for dine in tonight and they rocked! The bartender moved so fast and efficiently we never knew where she was until we needed something and she was right in front of us. She was social and professional to a point where she should be held to the highest standard of management. We thank you and appreciate the sacrifice you've made in this time and hope you are receiving the support you need. One thing I cannot stand is impatient morons. We are supposed to be in this together. Run on sentence below: When a moron comes in to complain that they cannot believe they sat in a drive thru after ordering an hour earlier and had to sit in a drive thru for 30 minutes waiting but could not get to the window and they are barefoot and have kids in the car (when you can clearly see the line is out to the street) and they have to announce it to the entire establishment....get a grip...get a clue...this world is not about you!!!! Reviews used to be good but not so much anymore so I shouldn't of stopped by but I did. Chicken was soooo dry I couldn't eat it. Brisket was very moist but no flavor or seasoning. We ate there with some friends on 1/7/22 and the experience did not disappoint. It was a Friday evening and they were busy but not overly busy. We were able to get a set and our waitress was awesome. I usually get the waitress's name but totally spaced it right now. She was very cheerful and made sure we were accommodated during our visit. Due to the pandemic there were many items that were not available but they were open and up front about the items missing. We all ordered burgers and the food was good. The fries could have been a little more crisp or fresh and I do not care for their hamburger buns but it was just as easy to eat the burger without it. The other three liked the buns so it is just my opinion. I got the fried motz burger and it was really good at first but as the cheese sticks cooled they became a little gritty but that was because I was talking too much and not eating fast enough. They used to have decent food. Today it was gross. Cool didn't read or waitress didn't listen. Asked for no tomatoes, no onions. Burger came with tomatoes and onions. Bun was stale. French fries were very undercooked - never seen anyone mess up frozen French fries. Soft drinks had no carbonation. Flies and gnats were everywhere. I have been recommending this place for years. But my experience last night would lead me to never go back. The total experience was not good from the food not coming out in the timely manner the service was not good and when requested for a manager she wanted to know what our problem was. Then proceeded to tell us that it was our fault for expecting appetizers before our meal. The food started coming out of the kitchen and took over 25 minutes from the time the first came out of a table of 9 to the last of the food. I consider this place to be one of the best places to go get a burger but last night the 3 burgers were dry and the buns were cold. I have owned a restaurant before in my life and I would have fired the manager on the spot absolute worst behavior of a manager. And even after the terrible experience there was no compensation whatsoever not that we were looking for compensation but it is what is expected with a good manager. How about an apology on the behalf of the restaurant not doing its best job again there was none of that. read more

The place was easy to find and there are several routes to and from the main Scott & White area. I liked the decor and especially the family style dinning room (picnic benches). The dinning hall was decently filled, but not too full. We were greeted promptly by Bobbi Joe. She was really sweet and super attentive! She even filled our drinks several times. I had the patty melt plate with bacon and a side of green beans. The butter toasted rye was dang on point! Gosh, that bread takes the patty melt to another level. The beef was perfectly seasoned and cooked excellently. Them onions were completely caramelized sweet, and not burned and bitter! The best part was the "real" Swiss cheese they melted on the masterpiece. Whataburger uses that fake processed cheese; that is not remotely real cheese. The bacon was done perfectly, browned, and crisped. Huueyeee The green beans had terrific fixings in them such as, ham hocks and raw onion. But, the beans were not braised in a flavorful broth; as they normally should be. They were still eatable. My husband's Bubba burger was amazingly massive, with fresh lettuce, tomato, onion and mustard. The taste was great! And, the cheese was all real, and plentiful. The roll was like a huge Kaiser. My husband enjoyed his Bubba burger, but he agreed that mine tasted way better. His fries were fresh, crisp and had a lovely little seasoning sprinkled about on them. Delicious!!! I was extremely impressed with their burgers; we had been craving a perfect burger and read the Yelp reviews on Backyard's and felt that we had to try it. I'm a veryy picky eater so I don't usually try new places. Here for the week for work and just happened to stop by the drive-thru to pick up some food. Brisket is amazing! I had the 3 meat plate with green beans and slaw. The pulled pork had really good flavor, and was moist. The sausage had a nice consistency, with good flavor. The sliced brisket was bland, dry, with no visible smoke ring. The green bean tasted like canned green beans, with bacon and onion added. The cole slaw was interesting. Good large servings, friendly people fair prices

First time I went I ordered a salad with a fried okra, sausage and brisket plate. When eating the salad there was a large lettuce core in it. How can you not see a 5 inch core in a small bowl of lettuce? The second time I ordered fish basket with fried okra for a side. The okra and hush puppies were burnt. This place is awesome! The staff is super friendly, the food is delicious. We ordered bubba fries for the appetizer and they were SO good. The BBQ is very authentic Texas BBQ and even their sauce is delicious. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the BBQ chicken was a bit dry. But the flavor of it was so good and the brisket and sausage were perfect. Even though central Texas is known for good BBQ, it is a lot easier to find terrible BBQ than good around here. I've been a customer for 10 years and while the service has been hit or miss, the food has usually been great. Tonight was a disaster though. I called for 10 minutes straight, a total of 15 times, each time getting a busy signal. When someone finally answered, I was greeted with "Backyard BBQ, please hold" and placed on hold.....where I remained. Since I was already on my way there, I held. I arrived and pulled up to the window. When the lady opened the window, I let her know I was there to pick up an order. She asked for my name and I let her know that I hadn't ordered yet and was still on hold....for 22 minutes! She apologized and then asked to take my order. I asked for a three meat plate with double brisket to which she promptly informed me that they were out of. A BBQ place out of brisket?? That's like a seafood restaurant out of seafood. I asked about the owners, Shanna and Kyle Grote, and was told Kyle was there. I shook my head and drove off. Why bother? If the owner didn't notice the phone wasn't ringing and allowing his staff to place people on hold for excessive amounts of time, I didn't figure he would care. Well, I hope he cares that he lost a decade long customer. Word of mouth goes a long way, and I won't recommend them to anyone again. I won't be back after the slap in the face tonight. Okay. This place is the fucking bomb. Nestled in the back of the function room off the main drag in Morgan's Point, Backyard BBQ would have been referred to as a Hidden Gem by The Phantom Gourmet back in my old New England stomping grounds. As you pull in the back, you see the smoke coming from the outdoor pits, and the smell of meat instantly whets your appetite. You see outdoor seating, but in this hot Texas summer, you're drawn inside to some cooler atmosphere. And I do mean cool. The inside has as much flair and character as some of those chains who force it upon patrons, but with so much more. It's so cozy and inviting. The serving girls will greet you and direct you to sit where you like. We tend to grab one of the booths. The setting is so intimate, you'll often find yourself chatting with other patrons. Drink selection, they don't offer alcohol, but they will ice your own if you bring it. They do offer Sweet Tea, Lemonade, and standard Coke soda brands in cans. Kids will find Juice Pouches. Now for the most important part. The food. If it's your first time here, Walk, do not run towards the Bubba-Tater, Backyards signature dish, and also the name of the restaurants website. Imagine the most massive potato you've ever seen, topped with your choice of Brisket, Sausage or both, loaded with sour cream, cheese, fresh bacon, chives, and drizzled with BBQ sauce. The things is to die for. I am all that is man, so I always order it with the double meat. The rest of the menu strays away from your standard 3 meat bbq fair, giving you choices of Burritos, Burgers, and Nachos, all of which are good and pass the taste test. They offer Grilled Cheese and Chicken Fingers for the kidlets, which is also a nice departure from some BBQ joints (Honestly, what 5 year old ever chooses to eat brisket?) They also offer a Man v Food style challenge, which I unfortunately can't remember the name of, but its your basic finish-it-and-its-free massive plate of BBQ and Fries. I believe they only give you 30 minutes to finish it, and for the size of it I think it's impossible, and the pictures on the wall prove my theory. If you don't finish it, it's a $40 meal. OMG! I dont even know where to start. We came here for dinner and we are not from here so we had to seek the assistance of Yelp. Boy oh Boy am I glad we did. I had the 2 meat, brisket and pulled pork with potato salad and French fries. I initally wondered why we didnt have knives but then I realized why...that meat was so tender it was insane. So tender and perfectly cooked. The potato salad had the perfect amount of flavor and even the fries were crisy but not too crispy and perfectly salted. I also had a grandmas sweet tea which was amazing. The apple pie and ice cream....whoooooo!! Out of this world delicious. Literally the best experience. Now, we have to remember that a server can make or break our experience. Chelsea made it nothing less than the absolute best! She was so pleasant ans when we thought we were being difficult she reassured us that we were not. We were dying for some homemade banana pudding and when she thought there was no more, she came through with the LAST one and surprised us. Chelsea is the real MVP. BLUF: I'd bring some friends for a family-friendly night without breaking the bank. For a BYOB barbecue joint, the food tasted pretty good and the service was pleasant. My buddy tried The Intimidator, which is a ridiculous pile of meat and fries. For $30, you get 45mins to finish it and it is free. Nobody's done it yet.
