I love Schoepf's BBQ- and miss it ever since I moved back to Houston. Every meal was perfection and their potato salad is what I compare all others to. I dream about it and sadly have never been able to replicate it myself. Food costs are insanely high and margins are slim- their prices are fair for the quality you receive. To compare their prices to that of a mid BBQ chain restaurant makes no sense. If you want quality- you have to be willing to pay for it. Complaining about loud chairs, limited choices close to the end of the day , or a less than five star service is wild to me. If youre looking for a quiet meal with a highly attentive wait staff- a BBQ joint probably shouldn't be your first or even third choice. If you want great food , friendly (and busy) staff and a lively atmosphere- here's your place. They stay busy for a reason. read more

I spent $111 for 2 adults and 2 kids. 1/2lbs of brisket, 1 sausage, 1lbs ribs, 3 sides. Was it worth it? No. I cannot stand when BBQ is reheated and served. The ribs were dry and luke warm. The brisket was ok but the smoke flavor was gone because it had obviously sat for too long in the warmer. At least it was cut correctly. I don't know if we were just unlucky because we came earlier but to me to serve reheated BBQ especially at this price point is unacceptable. The corn and potato salad were good. Mac and cheese is runny. Oh and they charge extra for jalapeños. Will we be back? No. When I am spending over $100 for lunch I definitely expect better quality. read more

Stopped by Schoepf's while making the drive from Austin to Dallas. They had really good brisket but I the pork ribs really stood out big time. The ribs were one of the top ribs I've enjoyed in a while. They were really high quality ribs, very meaty and not a lot of fat, cooked perfectly. I also had scalloped potatoes as a side, they were only ok. Overall vibe is a traditional Texas BBQ joint. The staff were friendly and service was good. Enjoy! read more

Second stop on our BBQ tour and it was a hit! I was hoping to try some brisket and chicken, but they were out of chicken and I wanted more than just brisket. I pivoted to the brisket philly sandwich (which I secretly wanted anyway, was just thinking I should give the plain brisket a shot on our first stop). Sandwich was DELISH but the bread did not hold up well. It collapsed a bit and I had to continuously put the meat back onto the roll as it fell off. Husband got ribs and pulled pork. I tried some of his ribs and LOVED the dry rub. I just had a small bite and was a fan, but Zach said they weren't as tender as they could be. He did agree that the flavor was top notch. Baby boy had the brisket mac and cheese. He rarely turns down any food, but he was VERY enthused by this dish. It was his first time having brisket and he was picking it out of the mac and cheese and then shouting for more when it ran out. I sampled his dish, as any good mother would, and the mac and cheese was super creamy and delish. We also both enjoyed the street corn. They were out of a few different things which was kind of a bummer, but I guess is also probably the way BBQ joints work due to the prep time needed. I was a little confused by the way you order - you go through the first door, order your mains, and then go through to the next room and order sides. But, things like my sandwich or the brisket mac and cheese were brought to the table. The staff figured out pretty quickly that it was our first time there and walked us through the process. They were very patient and helpful. I just had a water, but they had some really fun sounding sodas. Coconut cream, orange dreamsicle, sarsaparilla root beer, etc. Cool vibe, the main dining area had kind of an old-timey saloon feel. This place is a clown show. I ordered 2 Brisket Bowls. Each one is advertised as having chopped prime brisket, Spanish Rice, Charro Beans, Street Corn and Pico. What we were given - in a bag so we did not see the garbage until we got home - was a greasy mac and cheese bowl with 3 slices of meat oozing on top. Look at the photos - it was so bad we tossed the "food" into the garbage and ordered a pizza. We should have known better - the people working there - there were 7 - are running around, nobody in charge, everything screwed up - and when we were there the place was close to empty. Avoid this rip off - go to Miller's down the street. The food is great, they have wonderful service and they do not steal your money and give you garbage you have to throw in the garbage. read more

Overall we've always enjoyed the food here despite it being over priced. But the owners wife has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. After a couple months of going in weekly to grab food in which we would always buy plain tostada shells to take home and make bbq tostadas with. The owners wife happened to be there one Tuesday and basically called me a liar and demanded to know which employees were doing that. She then insisted on doing a price review, pulled out a bunch of binders and then charged me $1.50 per tostada when I had been charged $4 for 5 every week prior without issue. When I got home, this is what they gave me and just 6 slices of bread. For 7 people. I've gotten more when I've gone and gotten food for 2 people. It was so disappointing not having enough for everyone. The bread wasn't a big deal because we had some at home but we didn't have pickles, onions and especially not any of their bbq sauce. I am an avid Yelp user but the reviews got it wrong here. Anyone citing price is used to the dollar menu. A lot of work goes into creating BBQ and this place is no exception. Is it cheap? Not really. Is it worth every dollar?Absolutely. Get what you pay for! I've eaten BBQ from the Carolinas to Brownsville, Texas and all the places in between. This spot brings a culmination of some of my absolute favorites to one plate. Elote and Tres Leche as my sides to my Oaxaca sausage. Give me a break! 5 stars ain't enough. Could eat here everyday. The guy cutting was polite and recommended which cut to take first--top-notch experience. We picked up ribs, brisket queso nachos, specialty brisket street tacos, street corn and cole slaw. Ribs. I also just read the other reviews and I personally don't like when owners respond so defensive. Everyone can leave a review and give an opinion, that's the point of this space. Horrible, horrible horrific. The worst place to get bbq in Texas. First of all you're in Texas not KC. Have Texas bbq sauce. okay now to the food. I asked for sausage... didn't have any. Asked for ribs... didn't have any. Asked for chopped beef sandwich... out of buns. Asked for 1/4 pound of brisket... 1 slice cost 9.00 1 slice of turkey 9.00 Went to the sides, small 5.95 ea. for liquid Mac and cheese, Charro beans. My wife and my meal with Me sweet tea no tip. $67.00. And then on top of all that the service was despicable. Had to wait 20 mins to place our order and only 2 people ahead of us. And the they seemed put out when I asked questions. We missed the plasticware and the cashier said "You're going to need something to eat this with and you walked right by it' and shook her head. Like we were stupid. The worst experience and food I have ever experienced. Will never go back and I suggest to save your money and go to QT gas station and get their BBQ sandwich and bbq chips. Honestly I was really excited about trying Schoepf's but left knowing I would never go back. The brisket tacos were slightly above average but portioned pretty small for the price. The texture of the sausage is not the same as normal Texas bbq. It is very grainy and coarse so fair warning to those who are expecting normal Texas bbq sausage. The sides were the most disappointing. The rice and Mac and cheese were just plain awful. Mac and cheese tasted like frozen Mac and cheese with no flavor whatsoever. I also believed that the sides were very over priced for the portion and quality. The service is what convinced me to never go back. It seemed all the workers had an attitude and were frustrated about being at work. I get it we all have our days. But everyone being upset at the same time? Something has to give and it doesn't come off well to new customers. All in all, make the 2 hour and 30 minute drive to Hutchins in Frisco or really any other bbq place. read more

The place had a lot of business and even though we were new and unsure of how things went there, the employee let us know. We both ordered the BBQ potato and it was good. The meat was soft and moist and they didn't skimp on the cheese. The place is laid out a bit weird but it was easy to get some space to ourselves despite the shared table design. Way more than I could eat, so a bit of it went to waste. The sausages were good but my buddy ordered the venison sausage and it stole the show. For me the street corn side was The show stopper. That. Came on a Friday for late lunch and was almost immediately served. One pro-tip: unless you want to get pure meat, keep going and skip the folks getting sliced protein and enter the kitchen area. After you get your meat, next up sides and then you can place an order if you want something from the kitchen. If the cutter tells you it will take 20 minutes: don't trust him. Took us WAY less time than that. I had the brisket tacos and they were awesome. Three very flavorful tacos with plenty of smoky brisket. Good Lord, I've never had so many food orgasms in one eatery! A friend had heard good things about this BBQ place, so my husband and I joined him on the maiden journey to eat there. My husband ordered the jalapeño sausage, brisket, scalloped potatoes, and mac and cheese. I ordered a BBQ brisket taco with street corn and scalloped potatoes. The street corn was one of the most amazing things I've had in my mouth! I couldn't get enough. The mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. The potatoes were comfort food epitomized. My taco brisket was so tender and good to the last bite. I don't recall what our friend ordered, but he shared his dessert. The peach cobbler was perfection! The only thing it could have used was a dollop of whipped cream or some vanilla ice cream. Service was accommodating, informative, and kind, especially since we arrived 30 minutes before they closed.
