I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Petty's Barbecue. I placed an order and was treated very disrespectfully by an employee at the window. The employee called me an inappropriate name and threw my food toward my vehicle, causing it to fall on the ground. I went inside to address the situation and try to understand what happened, but instead of receiving an apology or having the issue handled professionally, the situation was dismissed. I contacted management hoping they would take the complaint seriously, but I felt my concerns were ignored and the employee's behavior was defended. The situation escalated to the point where the police were contacted, even though I never threatened anyone or acted aggressively. A customer should never be treated this way, regardless of the circumstances. I expected basic respect and professionalism, but unfortunately that was not my experience. I will not be returning and hope management takes this feedback seriously. read more

Amazing pinto beans and French fries I have to say! Clean throughout, a great place to grab barbecue and a beer.

Flavor, smoke, spices, tenderness...all amazing! Great trimming on the no fat brisket. The smokiness was done just right to allow the meat flavor was there, but you get the smoked meat Flavor with every bite! I also had the dark meat chicken. The flavor was balanced as well, juicy and tender. I had coleslaw smd potato salad for my sides. The potato salad really stood out for me. The recipe they use is amazing. When I tasted it, it knocked my socks off it was so good. The cornbread was also good. It's was moist and slightly sweet, and bot dry and crumbly. Recommendations would be to add a couple once to the portion size on the sides. Other than that, I was very satisfied. read more

Coming from CA, we were looking for some good bbq and luckily we found this place. We really liked the baby-back ribs and the brisket. Paired with mac n cheese and green beans, topped with spicy bbq sauce. I literally want to back to tx just for this food. Also don't forget the banana pudding, literally the best I've had. Service was fine, two people behind the counter and prepping the food so it was a bit slow but we weren't in a rush. Got the 4 sampler plate the brisket was hard and dry very inedible the pulled pork was very dry even with the sauce which was overly vinegary the creamy macaroni tasted very watery and lacked flavor the only decent things were the sausage and the ribs all in all a very poor first experience would not go here again unless for the ribs and sausage. read more

20 August 2025 at 9 pm. I was just at Pettys BBQ. My order was taken at 8 pm and i sat in the drive thru for 45 minutes until i got my food. I could tell that the staff were working really hard to fulfill the orders. One of the staff said that the reason they were running behind is that they were let a worker go. I saw the owner who is an older man wearing an orange T-Shirt walking around behind the cash register area. It appeared he went to get a cold drink. I saw him walk past his struggling staff without blinking an eye at them. I know that he had to have realized how backed up on orders they were. He never stopped to check on his two employees that were running the place and obviously struggling. Ive worked in a food establishment where the managemement has gone off and left myself and a cook to run the whole business and we struggled when it became un believably busy like it was tonite at Petty's. During the 45 minutes i sat in the drive thru i observed the owner casually sweeping his driveway while he very casually chatted with another guy thst was sweeping as well. The owners lack of concern for his employees and customers reflect extremely bad on himself and his business. I would think that short of an emergency he would have been helping his employees take care of his customers. Food was good but he lost my business. read more

I haven't had Petty's BBQ since I moved to Utah three years ago but am reminded WHY I love eating BBQ here in TX. I'm REALLY picky when it comes to BBQ as I come from California and BBQ is ALTOGETHER different back west. There are only a couple of TX BBQ places I like but when they do it right they do it RIGHT. And Petty's is def one for the records. My office is right around the corner and I know I'd be - massive 300 pound mama if I indulged more often but I Do treat myself once in a while. Perry's knows how to do brisket CORRECTLY, as well as fall off the bone ribs. I had a little mixup the first time I ordered Thru Door dash with a receipt mix up and I think the guy on the phone thought I was attacking him (I was NOT!) I was just tryna make sure neither of us was being scammed, but no matter -the food was FANTASMIC!!! I will def be back! read more

We actually found it by accident trying to find a barbecue place but maps kept taking us to food trucks and places inside of H-E-B and we wanted barbecue in a restaurant. My friend and I got the brisket barbecue combo and it was amazing. Best barbecue I've had since I moved to Texas 2 1/2 years ago.Petty's barbecue was very clean. The owners came by to see how we were doing and if we needed anything, the staff was very friendly. I especially enjoyed the family style tables where strangers can come up and sit with you. We sat with a group of people that were incredibly friendly and they told us that they've been coming here for the last 2 years and it's the only BBQ place they will eat! This restaurant was very busy( on a Tuesday at 1:00) and loaded with military from Fort Hood, and they give special rates to our military, which is wonderful! I've been here twice and the food was so good each time. The baked Mac & cheese is better than the creamy Mac & cheese but both are very good. The potato salad reminded me of my mom's (and hers was amazing). The ribs fell off the bones. I couldn't eat all my food there was so much food on the plate. I had chicken the second time I went. The chicken is good - tender & juicy and well seasoned. The barbecue sauce is so good. The staff is friendly and efficient. For the amount of food they served the price made sense. My husband and I were able to share a plate and had plenty to eat. Can't wait to go back and try something else. read more

I tried the 4-legged plate. Asked for moist and got 1/2 fat, 1/2 meat slices. Beans lacking any flavor. Potato salad and bread was good though. Pulled pork looked chopped and not pulled. We rarely eat in downtown Killeen due to documented violence. Sure enough, while eating, a homeless dirty guy came in begging. That ruined the meal, so we left.
