The cutest little road side diner you'll find. Awesome food & service. One of the best burgers in Texas crazy enough. Fries were as well.

Chicken Fried Steak with onion rings

When eating at a small town diner I just have to get the chicken fried steak. I'm glad I got it here. Really good. The batter was just right and the steak was tender. I got the onion rings after reading some of the other reviews. They were awesome. Batter was good and not too thick. Our waitress was very friendly. Clean place. Love the burlap curtains. I recommend this place. We will be back.

Horrible food and service. Small portions and rudeness. They gave me the wrong order and didn't fix it when I told them.

But I was stupid, and hungry, and ordered what looked like the specialty of the house at Eve's Café. In fact, it looked like what they called a Wienerschnitzel was the basis for all sorts of schnitzel variations with different toppings and gravy. That should've been an extra warning for me. To be fair, the description on the menu said that what you would get was a pork chop, and that is what I got. It was a little bit tough, which I suspected in advance, watching the people at the next table, sewing on theirs. The breading was weird in a way that's hard to describe. It was somewhat over-seasoned, a little bit hard, and left an aftertaste that was slightly chemical. An even worse sin by Texas standards, it was small, as in the recommended meat portion size for healthy eating, about the size of my hand, minus the fingers. My side of onion rings had the same breading. And even though I am generally a gravy hog, I didn't especially care for the brown gravy that came with my meal. The German dill salad probably had some dill in it somewhere, but it was all drowned in so much mayonnaise-based dressing, I couldn't really taste it, and the whole thing turned into soup before I finished. This all really sounds terrible, but it wasn't actually terrible. I ate all of it except for the soupy salad, but it just never rose beyond competent, when I had gotten my hopes up for some good German food. As I looked around at what others were eating, I really wished I had ordered one of the fabulous-looking sandwiches, burgers, or bratwurst. Those are harder to mess up. The restaurant itself has a nice location on the Square in Lampasas, and a charming vibe. The Thursday lunch crowd was good sized so it looks like a popular local place. The service was very friendly and pretty quick--maybe little TOO quick, as if my schnitzel might've been waiting for me under a heat lamp. Once I'd finished, I was still a little hungry, and considered ordering a slice of their Black Forest Cake. But I have had Black Forest Cake in Bavaria, and I simply couldn't bear another disappointment.

So this place was recommended, so I had to go. The restaurant is a small establishment, with…read morewonderful vibes. The inside was old fashioned, kind of a western twist. Any ways the waiters was friendly and welcoming. She took our oder quickly and brought us libations. The food looked good and tasted outstanding! The meat was soft and the brown gravy was on point. Furthermore the restrooms are super clean and roomy. Looks like there is only one cook, it might take a minute for your order but worth waiting for. Stay hungry my friends!

Tucked away on a quiet street. Nothing fancy at all about this place. My colleagues and I strolled right in and were greeted promptly by a friendly face. We walked past the bar and were seated right away with. Totally digging the rustic atmosphere and the western decor. We were given menus and drink orders were taken. We perused the menu and drinks were back in good time. Lots of good options on the menu, and a lot of different ways to order a burger. Our friendly waitress was very helpful with lots of other customizations of other orders. (sorry I did not catch her name!) Also quick with a recommendation or witty banter to a couple of smart aleck coworkers of mine. All in good fun of course. I kept it simple. A bacon cheeseburger with mayo and no veggies. I did not chose to upgrade my burger with the "toad bun" and got a side order of tator tots. (That is not a misspelling on my part. That's how they are printed on the menu). After some great conversations with my colleagues, our food arrived in good time. The room got awfully quiet as we got to it. My burger was nothing short of amazing. Very juicy, flavorful, and it did not last long on my plate. Bacon was crispy, cheese was gooey, and all on good bread. Tator tots were crispy and everything a tator tot should be. I did hear some of my colleagues who ordered the "toad bun" say the upgraded bun did not hold up well and did not hold up well to the juicy burger. They said it was tasty, but went soggy fast. So, keep that in mind if you order one. We finished our burgers, and walked up to the front to pay. By this time it was getting busy, and you could see a lot of the "regulars" passing the time with the waitstaff whom were all on a first name basis. Like that, we all were gone in a flash. I was very happy we visited this little hole in the wall joint, and hope to stumble across it again one day. Highly recommend this little jewel if you are in the area. Please drop in and give it a try. You will love it. Enjoy!

The menu leans heavily toward comfort food classics like meatloaf, lasagna, and shepherds pie, but lighter options like a chicken ceasar salad were also available. The desserts were definitely the highlight of our meal. Like the other menu items, the dessert portions are HUGE. My daughter and I split a piece of coconut cream pie, and we still didn't finish it. An amazing view, rustic atmosphere, and wonderful service rounded out the experience. If you're passing through the area, don't miss this place! I can't figure out why it wasn't packed to the gills.

We got the meatloaf, king ranch chicken, two teas and one desert and it cost us $54. And for that price we got served on flimsy paper plates with plastic forks. The food was less than average. Thank goodness we got ice cream with it. I am posting a picture of the Apple crisp. There is certainly a lot going on there. We stopped on The Junk Store (as they call it) and the sign was correct. We were not impressed and will not be back. To answer your response, the words "delicious" and "great" never left our lips.
