The service was fantastic. Greeted upon arrival. Food was top notch. I had the Ruben and it was amazing (like my mum did the cooking herself). I usually talk while eating but not today. I enjoyed every single bite. It is that good. My husband had the Philly and said it was great. Words we are not used to using. Stop by this gem because everything on the menu looks great. 10/10 recommendation read more

The food here is especially delicious! My family stopped in for a bite on our way to Galveston. I'd give it 5 stars, except we had to wait 15 minutes for our server to come to the table. We were worried it was closed, but there were two other tables waiting. I think with additional wait staff, this would be a 5 star experience. We loved the food! Our favorites were the sidewinder wedges, the whoafers, and the walking taco. read more

Rustic bar and restaurant with delicious homemade dressings! Ambiance & Service: The restaurant is large with lots of wooden tables for seating. Our server was friendly and efficient! Food & Drink: - Prickly Pear Margarita: Way too sour!! Not enough sweetness. Skip! - Southside Poppy Salad: The poppy seed dressing was perfectly sweet and tangy! The candied pecans added a wonderful crunch. TL;DR: Great stop for lunch, but skip the drinks! read more

I've now eaten here a few times when in the general area visiting Sarah L and family. The staff at Southside Tavern are simply the friendliest. They make you feel like you're at home - or their home - even though you're in a happening spot in town. The interior feels like a modern pub - no frills, but plenty of space. The food is very good - I've not had anything bad here yet. The menu has plenty of options. They use tallow oil and everything seems to be prepared to order. I definitely wouldn't turn down the opportunity to eat here again! read more

Southside Tavern - Friday night special: chicken fried steak - Burgers Near Me - Goldthwaite, Texas

See all

This cozy bar/restaurant was tucked away in Goldthwaite and the atmosphere was very small town bar vibes. I ordered the prickly pear margarita (which was a bit saltier than preferred) and the crispy chicken tenders. The tenders were delicious and best with a side of ranch. Overall I found this place enjoyable. read more

Steaks are the Saturday Special so a 16 oz Ribeye, cooked Outside on the open flame is the way to go! Garlic Cheese Curds come out hot and fresh with a dipper of ranch. Crunchy Golden Bites of breaded deep fries cheese. Oh Yeah! Don't be in a hurry but enjoy the music and the atmosphere! Lo e it. Potato Wedges are the flippin bomb! read more

If you're anywhere near Goldthwaite, this place is absolutely worth a stop. The Whoop & Holler burger is easily one of the best burgers I've had. The beef was cooked perfectly, and the combination of beer-braised onions and grilled poblanos on jalapeño sourdough brought everything together with incredible flavor. You can tell there's real thought put into the menu. It has that perfect country feel - laid back, comfortable, and the kind of place you can bring family or meet up with friends. Great food, good drinks, and a spot that feels like it belongs in the community. Highly recommend! read more

Southside Tavern - Wings - Half Order - Burgers Near Me - Goldthwaite, Texas

Stopped here briefly on a road trip, and I wish we could have stayed longer! We called in our order - cactus country wrap, and the turkey trap (made into a wrap instead of the normal sandwich), with regular and sweet potato fries. The location is charming and inviting, with a gorgeous bar. When we arrived our meals were all packed up to go. Both wraps were absolutely delicious. Turkey was smoky and juicy... never knew a turkey wrap could be so tasty! Hubs was more than happy with his wrap as well. The fries are out of this world - super fried on the outside and soft and wonderfully potato-y inside. Whole length of the potato. Great fries. Highly recommend. There was a side patio where we could have stayed to eat with our dogs, but we ended up eating in the car to continue our drive. We will look forward to future stops here for sure! read more

It's so nice having a fun place to go when we're at our family ranch in G-Waite!! The food is always good! We all ordered the chicken friend steak special and it was amazing!! It's huge so you can definitely share! Great atmosphere and last night they had a couple singers that were awesome! They have a nice bar and tvs that we're playing sports! Definitely check it out when your visiting town! read more

We were in town for hunting season to open and went there for dinner on Friday. The place had a singer who was very good. It took a bit of a wait to get drinks and also to wait for food. The bill was 100 bucks for 4 domestic beers and two burgers and one appetizer. A bit pricey I'd say. The waitress was very nice and was apologetic. Plenty of parking. read more

This review is of my first and only time there so far, so probably not their accurate representation. Service was super slow, like they didn't really know we were there. food was mediocre, and I really expected more, so would be definitely willing to give them another try next time I am in town. read more

Great hidden spot in this little town. Service was quick and friendly and the burger was delicious. Will definitely return to try more items on the menu. Also the amount of hard to find whiskeys was very nice surprise. read more

We stopped for a late lunch on our way to Fredericksburg. The food was delicious and the service was great! We had the fried pickles and jalapeños for an appetizer, my hubby ordered the bacon burger with fries, and I had the pulled pork quesadilla. I wish we had taken pictures before we ate, but we didn't think about it until after we ate. The fries that came with the burger are legit fresh cut! Great experience! read more

The Cactus Country Chicken Wrap is a life changer and will make your taste buds dance! It's large enough for two if you're not a heavy eater. I split it with my niece along with the sweet potato fries and we each thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Online ordering was easy and had we not been passing through on a road trip with time constraint would have stayed and visited with the locals and had a couple of drinks because the place just felt homely and welcoming. Bar atmosphere but family friendly as there were lots of kids there. read more

Cool place! Nice people, good service, enjoyed the live music. Better than expected beer and drink selection (several craft beers on tap, nice Texas wine selections, good Old Fashioned). Some of the best fries I've ever had. Smoked chicken salad - delicious, chili - really good. Generous portions. Only con -- took 1 1/2 hours, but everyone was hurrying around, getting food and drinks out ASAP. Will definitely stop here again the next time we're traveling this way! And spreading the word. read more

We stopped here on our drive from Austin to New Mexico and have nothing but good things to say! Restaurant is pretty new, clean, and had a great ambiance especially with the front windows open and a cool breeze coming in. We ordered the fried pickles to start (very tasty, not too greasy), then the Cubano and the Lady Bird, both of which were phenomenal. They season the meat really well with a smoky but sweet flavor. On top of all this, our server was really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone passing through! read more

Goldthwait should pack this place everytime the doors are open. What a hidden gem, awesome atmosphere, excellent food and service. Burgers are Great, Porkchop will feed two people and the Ribeye was fantastic. I've been in town 5 days and eaten her 3 times. I will be back. read more

This place was such a pleasant surprise tucked away in a small town! The hand crafted drinks and DELICIOUS food were amazing! The sangria and watermelon margarita are really tasty!! We started off with the Reuben Tater Bullets. Yum! The were hot and fresh with a great thin crisp on the outside and soft potato/corned beef inside. Complete with thousand island dressing for dipping. We split the Southside Melt. The brisket had great flavor and the green chili queso was the perfect compliment to the meat and bun! The sweet potato and the regular fries are cut and battered in house. They are delicious! Customer service was also incredible! Our waitress was also the bartender and she did a phenomenal job! We will for sure be back! read more

I had the pulled pork and my husband had the Plain Jane burger. Both meaty and delicious!

We had a large group (had reservations to let them know to expect that) of 14 total, mix of adults and kids. One waitress took care of our table. A few food items were a little delayed arriving to the table, but overall I thought our waitress did an excellent job. She took care off special requests for the kids w/o batting an eye. The food was very good. Lot of burgers and fries ordered. Everyone had good reviews for those items. I had the meatloaf and roasted potatoes. Meatloaf was bacon wrapped w/ a Sriracha glaze. That glaze added a nice bit of spice to an already good meatloaf. Roasted potatoes we way better than average as well. Price paid was much less than expected for the quality of food and service received. I'll definitely be a return customer should I have a need to be in the Goldthwaite area again. read more

Wow what a find. We're new to the area and ran down to see if we could find "our new spot". Springtime, band was playing, doors were open with an amazing breeze. The waitstaff attended to us immediately and were so friendly. We had a filet and a ribeye and both were great. What a little gem in the middle of nowhere.
