We've eaten at Sammy's several times for the past couple of years on Fridays to have the fried catfish. When we began going, the service was good and the catfish was the best we had eaten in quite some time. However, over the past six months or so, the service by the same waitresses had become less reliable, and tonight, our fried catfish was just barely warm. The waitress that had delivered it did not return to ask if everything was alright or did we need anything else, as she hurried past us to clear a table right next to ours, and then went to attend to some of her other tables. We have always been conscientious to tip better than the customary 15%, as it is tough to make a living on a what a waitress makes. I can understand that people can have a bad day, or any number of reasons a server might not be preforming at a previous level. It happens... however, this has become more of the norm the past half dozen times we have dined at Sammy's. I would even give positive feedback if we had a surely smart-ass waitress who made sure our food was hot when it hit our table - that's like dinner and a show at a small town cafe. Tonight, I would have to say, this is the closing curtain to the Friday Fried Catfish for us at Sammy's Cafe in Lometa. No encores, and no more mediocre food and service. Very sad. read more

This is a very popular hole-in-the-wall catfish joint, however they have a lot more than catfish on the menu. The catfish seems to be the draw for most of their patrons, and you can get it regular or extra crispy. Their chicken tenders are also quite good, and their burgers are huge. The place can get pretty crowded, but the staff are always friendly. read more

My wife and I visited Rockin K at around 1 pm on a Wednesday. We were asked to pick our own seat so we chose a table toward the back, left side of the restaurant. We were quickly brought our menus and asked what we would like to drink, which was sweet tea for both of us. Our showed about 2 minutes later. My wife got the King Ranch Chicken with potatoes, corn, and a side salad with Ranch. I ordered the hamburger steak with brown gravy fried squash, mashed potatoes, and a side salad with extra Thousand Island dressing. We were almost done with our salad when our entree was brought. The food was hot, fresh, and flavorful. The portions were very generous. We were checked on several times and our tea was refilled twice. We asked for a to-go cup and we're charge 25 cents. I did not finish my food to leave room for Orange Creamsicle Cake for desert. The prices were fair, the service was good, and the food was delicious. We'll definitely be back! read more

Sweet little spot on the way from Abilene to Lockhart. About halfway there. Stopped off for lunch and kids had burgers, fries and onion rings. I had a delicious club sandwich, the ham and bacon were hot and juicy, melted cheese, lettuce and tomato. Very attentive customer service, clean restroom, fast and hot food! Great food and service! Perfect place to break up a 4 Hour drive. We had the frog legs and sweet potato fries. It was delicious.

Today is Friday- it's fresh shrimp, at least 18 large , and fried fish- which tastes very fresh. Only slight negative, the beans were not very good, too thick and gooey. Fries, coleslaw, hush puppy were very good. The waitstaff were great and worked together to see to anything we needed Very good as usual. We'll worth the 45 minute drive!! read more

Best hamburger I have had in years The food was good, way better than we expected. We were staying in the area and thought we might have to go to San Saba or Lampassas for a meal but found this restaurant. I had the bacon cheeseburger and one of my sisters had the chicken friend steak. We loved the food so much, we came back the next day to enjoy again. The hamburgers are made from scratch, generous sized and perfect. Home fries and fried okra were also a big hit. The upshot - people from Lampassas and San Saba need to come to Lometa to eat here. read more

I used to love coming down to hunt and eating here years ago. They had the best waitstaff and even though it takes forever to receive your food.. I'm talking we waited 2 hours one Saturday morning but they were busy.. at least their old waitstaff were great and entertaining. The ones they have now are so rude! I used to come in every Friday, Saturday and Sunday we were down and any day we got to head out there early with 5 or more people and not a single person wants to go back these days so we cook for ourselves now. Don't waste your time on mediocre food that's usually cold or not cooked the way you asked and crappy service. If you walk in to a chubby Hispanic waitress working then just run for the hills. We were just driving through Lometa and saw the restaurant, so we stopped in. Two of us ordered chicken fried steak and one of us ordered BLT. The chicken fried steak was among the best I've ever tasted, with great mashed potatoes. The BLT was great too. Service was awesome and very personable. I'm giving 5 stars because this place is exactly what I hoped for in a road side diner. No linen table cloths or pretentious people, just a bunch of tables and very good food. The prices are also very low, and the portions are big! We now stop in every time we pass by. Burgers, salads, fries, okra, and the list goes on. Super laid back, and friendly folks too. We stopped at this restaurant on 2/21/2015 on our way to Levelland for breakfast. Everything we had was great.I had the chicken fried steak with eggs and grits. i've had chicken fried steaks before,but by far this was the best that i have had. The steak was tender with a great crust and darn good taste along with great gravy. On a 5 star rating it's definitely a 5. The owner was very kind to everyone coming into the place. If you are driving thru Lometa, you have to stop by and give it a try. i am sure you will enjoy what ever you order. i know we did. left the place shaking my head at how good everything is,especially the chicken fried. read more

Traveling and stopped here for a late lunch. Food was tasty and generous. I ordered sweet potato fries and when the man eating at the table next to me saw them, he ordered some, too. They were good! Grilled chicken sandwich was good-nice seasoning. Hubs said the CFS was definitely home cooked --- it disappeared quickly!
