The bacon burger with tots was good.

This is a very popular hole-in-the-wall catfish joint, however they have a lot more than catfish on the menu. The catfish seems to be the draw for most of their patrons, and you can get it regular or extra crispy. Their chicken tenders are also quite good, and their burgers are huge. The place can get pretty crowded, but the staff are always friendly.

My wife and I visited Rockin K at around 1 pm on a Wednesday. We were asked to pick our own seat so we chose a table toward the back, left side of the restaurant. We were quickly brought our menus and asked what we would like to drink, which was sweet tea for both of us. Our showed about 2 minutes later. My wife got the King Ranch Chicken with potatoes, corn, and a side salad with Ranch. I ordered the hamburger steak with brown gravy fried squash, mashed potatoes, and a side salad with extra Thousand Island dressing. We were almost done with our salad when our entree was brought. The food was hot, fresh, and flavorful. The portions were very generous. We were checked on several times and our tea was refilled twice. We asked for a to-go cup and we're charge 25 cents. I did not finish my food to leave room for Orange Creamsicle Cake for desert. The prices were fair, the service was good, and the food was delicious. We'll definitely be back!

Bacon cheeseburger and Buffalo ranch chicken sandwich

Stopped here on a road trip! Yummy mozzarella sticks, bacon cheese burger, and Buffalo ranch chicken sandwich. Nice staff too :)

Club Sandwich with chips

Sweet little spot on the way from Abilene to Lockhart. About halfway there. Stopped off for lunch and kids had burgers, fries and onion rings. I had a delicious club sandwich, the ham and bacon were hot and juicy, melted cheese, lettuce and tomato. Very attentive customer service, clean restroom, fast and hot food! Great rest stop to eat at!

Eve's Cafe - Chicken salad on sour dough special

Eve's Cafe

A warning: If you eat Weinerschnitzel in Vienna, you will be ruined for life on most of the…read moreversions you find elsewhere. But I was stupid, and hungry, and ordered what looked like the specialty of the house at Eve's Café. In fact, it looked like what they called a Wienerschnitzel was the basis for all sorts of schnitzel variations with different toppings and gravy. That should've been an extra warning for me. To be fair, the description on the menu said that what you would get was a pork chop, and that is what I got. It was a little bit tough, which I suspected in advance, watching the people at the next table, sewing on theirs. The breading was weird in a way that's hard to describe. It was somewhat over-seasoned, a little bit hard, and left an aftertaste that was slightly chemical. An even worse sin by Texas standards, it was small, as in the recommended meat portion size for healthy eating, about the size of my hand, minus the fingers. My side of onion rings had the same breading. And even though I am generally a gravy hog, I didn't especially care for the brown gravy that came with my meal. The German dill salad probably had some dill in it somewhere, but it was all drowned in so much mayonnaise-based dressing, I couldn't really taste it, and the whole thing turned into soup before I finished. This all really sounds terrible, but it wasn't actually terrible. I ate all of it except for the soupy salad, but it just never rose beyond competent, when I had gotten my hopes up for some good German food. As I looked around at what others were eating, I really wished I had ordered one of the fabulous-looking sandwiches, burgers, or bratwurst. Those are harder to mess up. The restaurant itself has a nice location on the Square in Lampasas, and a charming vibe. The Thursday lunch crowd was good sized so it looks like a popular local place. The service was very friendly and pretty quick--maybe little TOO quick, as if my schnitzel might've been waiting for me under a heat lamp. Once I'd finished, I was still a little hungry, and considered ordering a slice of their Black Forest Cake. But I have had Black Forest Cake in Bavaria, and I simply couldn't bear another disappointment.

So this place was recommended, so I had to go. The restaurant is a small establishment, with…read morewonderful vibes. The inside was old fashioned, kind of a western twist. Any ways the waiters was friendly and welcoming. She took our oder quickly and brought us libations. The food looked good and tasted outstanding! The meat was soft and the brown gravy was on point. Furthermore the restrooms are super clean and roomy. Looks like there is only one cook, it might take a minute for your order but worth waiting for. Stay hungry my friends!

Inside you'll find some booths along the perimeter of the room and large, round tables with wonderful upholstered chairs in the center. Can't say enough about the comfort of the chairs- very upscale. Our server was very sweet and efficient- there when we needed her but not hovering. The food is glorious. They are a bit on the expensive side, but the food is so good we did not mind the prices. I had the chicken and waffles - nicely crisp chicken breast with very tasty waffles. My husband and granddaughter-in-law had the steak and eggs - with really good potatoes and onions; both were SO impressed with the flavor and the preparation. (I will be having this next time!). My grandson had 'Hong Kong' French toast, which I believe was made with Japanese milk bread and had berries and a custard. Also came with eggs and bacon. He could not speak highly enough about it. The portions are LARGE. We all took food home. I shared my plate with my great granddaughter (2 yrs) and still took food home! Honestly, we had booked another restaurant for the weekend of Mother's Day (day before) and we canceled that reservation so that we could go back to Farmers Commons! It's that good. Also, all the folks working when we were there were very sweet with my great granddaughter; we appreciated that. HIGHLY recommend for brunch. Now i want to try dinner too!

The Farmers burger is deliciously tender and smoky in flavor. The grilled Caesar was a gigantic portion with all the traditional flavors with a twist! The truffle & mushroom pizza was delicious! For dessert we split a slice of lemon cake and we were stuffed!!!
