    Tres Leches Cake
    Scott S.

Rancho Seco is a Mexican Restaurant in Lometa, TX. I enjoyed lunch around 2pm on a Tuesday. The server greeted me immediately and told me to sit where I wanted. Since the lunch rush had passed, I had my choice of tables. Each table was draped in a black tablecloth and had a vase of fresh cut flowers! I chose a table facing the TV which was playing La Música Romántica. Specifically Con Ese Corazón and also La Telescopio by La Maquinaria Norteño among other selections. I ordered water with lemon to drink. A basket of chips and a bowl of salsa was immediately presented along with a menu. I chose the Chimichanga plate which came with refried beans and Mexican rice. I requested a side of Charro beans also and a side of shredded cheese. My meal was brought within 10 minutes. The chips were crispy and the salsa was flavorful. The beef chimichanga was hot and crispy. The refried beans were a little cooler than I usually like, but acceptable. The rice was hot. The Charro beans were very hot so I had to take my time eating them. The server checked on me a couple of times. As I was finishing I was invited to order dessert. Churros or Tres Leches cake? I chose Tres Leches. About 10 minutes later the Tres Leches Cake was brought out. The piece was much larger than anticipated. It was topped with fresh strawberry slices, whipped cream, and caramel sauce. Very delicious! I will definitely come here again next time I am in Lometa!

We drove in from Brownwood, and our friend drove in from Austin, to meet up for Sunday Lunch. We had a wonderful experience. The food was tasty, the hospitality & attentive service genuine, and the conversation lively and joyful. What more could we ask for? Left satisfied and ready for our next #meetmeinlometa meet-up. The drive over from Brownwood was exceptional with wildflowers in abundance on both sides of the highway. This was a very good day!

I highly recommend this place!! Open for breakfast early Sunday morning. We arrived just before 8:00 am and was able to seat ourselves. Server was immediately over and took our drink order. I ordered the Migas with bacon in it and my wife ordered the avocado toast. I had plenty of food to eat. This was one the best Migas plates that I have ever eaten. Highly recommend this place!

Probably about the 6th time. I need to try other options. Service is definitely getting better and the food is still wonderful. Chicken flautas again. And the elote was simple but very well seasoned, mayo, queso, cilantro n tajin. Mmmmmmmm

This place was delicious! A little gem in Lometa. Service was amazing and the *free* margaritas were a nice surprise.

We stopped here as we were passing through. Everything here was great--the chips, salsa, queso, lemonade, and the food too!

Very good! Highly recommend the tamales! The only thing I wish they had fountain drinks, but bottles is WAY better than cans!

After the lunch rush there were only two occupied tables so I was seated immediately. The server led me to my seat, handed me a menu, and asked me what I wanted to drink. I chose water with lemon which was quickly brought along with chips and salsa. The salsa was flavorful and not too spicy. I ordered TexMex Enchiladas from the lunch section of the menu. My food was brought to the table surprisingly fast! The beans and enchiladas were hot. The rice was a little on the room temperature side but still warm enough not to complain. I finished my food pretty quickly and lingered a bit munching on chips and salsa. No complaints from the staff. I asked if they happened to have churros and they do! The server said that they come four churros to an order so I asked for an order for dessert. The churros took about 7 minutes or so to cook. They were served extremely hot since they just came out of the fryer. They were served on a plate arranged like a hashtag with five dollops of whipped cream. The plate was sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and drizzled with honey. Each churro was filled with a cream custard. They were very tasty! Total came to $22 with tip. Not too bad these days!

Again, the reason I gave 4 forks rating is that they really need to get a liquor license to service beer, wine, and especially margaritas. Their food is too good to not have this. And please don't say bring it myself. The other recommendation is that they need a Del Mar Enchiladas and En Mole.

The parking seemed to be pretty full but I was still able to find a spot. I was seated immediately even though they were pretty full. I will say they are very clean and the staff is very friendly/attentive. The chips and salsa come out pretty quick. The chips are just okay; taste more store bought than anything else. I am used to chips that are a little saltier. I know I can add salt, but it isn't the same as putting salt right after they come out the the fryer. The salsa is really just a red sauce. It is a bit spicy but not like having a good salsa. Checking the photos, the "Flag Plate" seemed to be a good idea. It's three different enchiladas with rice and beans. And when they say "hot plate" you really need to heed that warning. I don't think my plate ever cooled to a point where I could touch it with my bare hand. But this I did appreciate. Most places, the plate goes cold so quick and the food does as well. For the Flag Plate, one enchilada is cheese, another is a sour cream chicken and the third is "Beef Spanish" whatever that means. I tried the beef and chicken and really wasn't impressed so I just ate the cheese. But speaking of cheese, there certainly is no shortage of that for the entire dish. I'm not not used to enchiladas with the amount of the cheese that goes into theirs. When I have had chicken enchiladas, all my life it has been shredded chicken in a red sauce. This was chunky chicken and some sour cream sauce and again, the heaps of cheese. I was disappointed to find out when I arrived that they are "cash only" and did not see that before. I see now some people did comment on that, but it very rare to encounter a place that is only cash. They do have an ATM inside, but of course, you have to pay a service charge for using the ATM. All in all, it was almost $30 for one person with no drinks (I only had water). For that price and being forced to pay using an ATM I would not come back here. Even had I known the cash only policy up front, I prefer to pay with a card. Less hassle than carrying cash and if you have a card that awards miles or rewards, it's always nicer to use the card. The food was okay but nothing I would go out of my way to eat as I did.
