Good food! Great service! Dog friendly! Driving through Lampasas after Thanksgiving with the family. My fiance was in the mood for barbecue. We stopped in this BBQ establishment and we're pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly. The portions were good. The chopped beef was not fatty at all. The tangy sauce complimented the meat perfectly. Thevprices were a little high for a small town but I guess that is common these days. The restaurant had sold out of a few items earlier but we will stop back on our next drive through town.

This place is the full package--fantastic food, genuine hospitality, and people who truly care about their customers. They treat every single person like family, and it shows in every visit. It's such a treat to have them in the community! Thank you guys and Shiloh also gives you 5 paws up (even though she only has four)

Great bbq spot in Lampasas that I found craving after hiking in Colorado Bend state park. Only bbq spot I found open late and dog friendly with outdoor seating. Service was very kind and asked if it's our first time which it was. Opted for the 3 meat plate to try a little of everything. The brisket was so juicy and moist, the pulled pork was flavorful, and the ribs fell right off the bone. The sauce was the perfect pairing to go with the meat. Not too sweet or thick, right amount of acidity. Great prices too and nice and clean outdoor seating was available.

My breakfast was delicious, the service was quick, and the booth was comfortable. All at a great price!

I've been to Lampasas 3x in the past month and the first two trips were early in the week when Youngs is closed so I was super excited to try it today. My fiance and I split a 3 meat plate with pulled pork, brisket, and jalapeño cheese sausage. For sides, we got potato salad and beans. The meats were all fantastic! The spicy, sweet, and sour sauce complemented them perfectly too. Potato salad was solid and beans were ok. Will definitely go back!

On the way to our Airbnb at Fredericksburg, we wanted to stop by and get a light snack. We got a brisket sandwich, cole slaw, and a pickle. The sandwich was great. We enjoyed the delicious smoky brisket, and the portion was very generous. We also loved the cole slaw as much as the sandwich. It was fresh, and had the perfect amount of sugar and vinegar. So good! The serve staff was very friendly. I am sure there are a lot of other items I could try if I come back again. If you are passing through here, stop by and give it a try. In fact, the recommended their turkey, but it was out. So give it a try and let us know.

Lady behind the counter was grouchy and my chopped beef sandwich was full of fat. Very disappointed.

Overall good BBQ for the price and location. Brisket was moist and decently seasoned. The sausage had good flavor and texture.

Fabulous barbecue! Drove to Llano on SH 29. It's on the right before you get in town…read more Inconspicuous signage says it's only open Saturday and Sunday. Opens at 11. You get to Tumlinson's before you reach the much more popular and more crowded Cooper's in town. Arrived around 1:30 on Saturday and there was only one car in the parking lot. No one else in the restaurant but no matter, the food is incredible! I don't believe there is something as the "best" barbecue. I think that there is a sort of supreme level that has a great smoke ring, a great bark, quality meat and basically melts in your mouth. So tender you can break it up with a fork but I might use a knife so I can create smaller pieces. THIS PLACE IS ALL OF THAT with perfect rendering and a master class in what a brisket should be. 5 out of 5. As good as any I have ever had and what I expect as the top of what barbecue brisket can be. The ribs were cooked perfectly with bountiful meat on the bone. The rub was not noteworthy but they were tasty and led me to use the sauce. The sauce is excellent - thick and vinegarry with a hint of sweetness. Only ordered one side - the potato salad. Much better than most. Not what I would put in the best category but totally worth eating. The pickles and onions? Wow! I wouldn't bother mentioning unless they were amazing. (Or terrible.) These were amazing! What I loved was that they cut up the onions in chunks rather than slices. The pickles were chunks of whole dills and not canned sliced pickles. Finally, I'll get to the ambiance. It's spacious with lots of seating inside. Good a/c. Two small windows that look out across the beautiful Hill Country for miles. Since the wildflowers were in epic form on the drive, the view was amazing this day. But it would be excellent without them. I should have taken a picture but I was too busy eating. We left Tumlinson's SmokyTop and went to Cooper's and as a comparison, I give the edge to Tumlinson's. The briskets were both in the same top echelon of what I expect a smoked brisket to be, but I think Tumlinson's was just slightly better. But where Tumlinson's crushes Cooper's is in the ambiance/atmosphere. Cooper's seating is indoor with no real outdoor tables. So you eat in a confined, windowless room that is not inviting. No music playing. Tumlinson's with no one else in it was memorable. I couldn't wait to get out of Cooper's. Felt a little creepy. Finally, Tumlinson's was selling brisket at $24 per pound while Cooper's was $26.99. This part is insignificant to me for the most part but there is a real price difference. Final verdict - Tumlinson's 5 out of 5. Cooper's 4.8 out of 5.

A small town TX BBQ that can hold it's own! Passing through town for a late lunch / early dinner…read more We were greeted as the door opened! We had brisket plates. Fried okra and mac&cheese on one. The classic potato salad and hot pinto beans on the other. Brisket was tender and flavorful. Not dry. A good 8-8.5 points on the 10 point scale! The beans were a 8.5-9! Flavor, spice, texture were quite good. One would be surprised as how some place mess up beans. Potato salad was as good as any and exactly what one should expect. Fried okra was made to order! No soft heat lamp mush here. Flavor wise, it was also as one would expect of traditional fried okra. Mac&cheese was average flavor but good portion. Was ok. Nothing to rave on, yet no complaint. Simple/basis type so a little more pop to the recipe could be a good future tweak. Traditional onions, pickles, & jalapeños can be added to the plate if you like. Also sauce and bread available on the side counter to suit your needs. Overall, a great lil place to stop in! Didn't take a pic before starting to eat but this get the gist.
