    Brisket, really sub par....
    Michel F.

I'm not going back. The brisket was dry,.tough and came with a big blob of inedible fat. The beans were horribly salty. And that was $27 for one and I threw more than half away. Sorry, reputation isn't going to be sufficient to change my mind. Has this place gone terribly downhill?

Cooper's has good food, decent tho not so cheap prices anymore, and friendly service making this one of my go to places for bbq when we visit family in the Austin and the surrounding area. Pretty much a chose what you want as you go thru the line kind of place, it's a no frills donning experience in a casual room setting with a roll of paper towels and a gallon sized container pickled jalapeños on the bench seating. They even have a pot of beans and a pot of their bbq sauce, pickles, onions, and white bread, all self serve. We had the usual brisket, pork chop, and jalapeño and cheese sausage. All were good. The pork chop was really good last time, so we got it again, and it didn't disappoint. The pork chop was the highlight of the meal. The brisket was not. Little over cooked and dry. We finished off the meal with cobblers, peach and pecan. Will we be back, most definitely next time we're in the area. Only thing I wish they'd provide is a different bbq sauce. Theirs is different, very thin, and not huge flavors.

100% I recommend this place. Best BBQ in all of Texas. Your life will never be the same...

Every time I get a chance passing through Llano, I always stop in for some good bbq. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a good lunch. I especially love their brown beans.

Stopped in and grabbed Cooper's BBQ to-go when I was passing thru from Fredericksburg to San Saba. First, you order your meat out by the pit. They sell it by pound and order fulfillment is cut my eyesight (a little heavy handed in my opinion). They slap it on a tray then it is weighed inside. When you walk up, the smoke smell is exactly what pit-smoked bbq should smell like. Your mouth waters immediately. How's the taste? Okay. Here's my take on Cooper's. 1. It's expensive but thankfully, they offer 0% financing for 6-months so we decided to order anyway. I'm kidding of course but bring your wallet!! 2. The brisket is VERY tender. Literally falls apart. Good flavor but needs more bark. 6/10 3. Turkey had a good flavor. Closer to the skin had better taste. 7/10 4. The sauce is runny and more vinegar taste. 6/10. It's just not my thing. 5. Ribs were good too. 7/10 6. Potato salad was good. Beans were EXCELLENT. Had some kick. Really flavorful. Bottom line - Would we eat it again? Yes. Also, if you really want to fit in, don't forget your cowboy hat.

Chicken, brisket, cole slaw, corn on the cob and delectable cornbread!

We were new to this restaurant and needed training! Everyone was so warm and happy to explain their process. Each employee greeted us when we walked in and when we left...even one of them that was eating his lunch! It's family style picnic bench seating. They have all the condiments you could need on the table and at a couple stations. Also have complimentary beans, which my husband said were fantastic. We loved every bit of our meal and the southern hospitality just put it over the top!

Stopped in on a suggestion from a friend. WOW! Great Texas BBQ. They cut into that turkey breast and you see the juices shoot out, they're doing it right! Had brisket and green beans, family style seating. Spoke with a retired couple from Kansas City, KS. The husband said Coopers beef ribs changed his life. Will be back again soon!

My Husband Played a round of Golf at Llano River Golf Course. He decided to pick up a pound of Brisket to take home, we live in Kerrville, Texas, it's not like where we live is around the corner. I must say at the price he paid and I asked about Bar BQue sauce he said they dip it in Barbeque sauce. My question is which was heavily Salted? The Brisket or the Sauce. It wasn't the Barbeque sauce. Lay off the salt. It was edible but the salt overwhelmed the taste of the brisket.

It was lunchtime and it was quite busy. Nonetheless service was impeccable. Everything was organized and spotless. Our server was a cousin to the owner. It seems that it's family owned and operated. I believe everything but the desserts are scratch made. My friends Chicken Alfredo was super creamy...like velvet. My Eggplant Parmigiana was fantastic-perfectly cooked and the Marinara was better than my own!!! We should've stopped then, but we just couldn't ...so we shared a generous slice of Italian Cream Cake. This restaurant is dynamite ....well worth the scenic drive!

They bring a basket of freshly baked rolls and butter to the table, which was a nice touch. They had a nightly special but we ordered the italian sausage Rigatoni Arrabiatta and the Lasagne, both of which were delicious- seasoned well and portions were generous. The prices were reasonable, with each of the dishes being under $20. The wine choices were fairly limited but we each ordered a Pinot - both went well with our meals. The service was great, too. There are other options if you just want pizza, but if you want a solid Italian meal, I'd recommend Gio's!

They encourage more Formal which is refreshing in a town where most restaurants invite casual. We were on time for our reservation, but waited a few minutes in their small waiting area. The hostess/manager had a bit of a school principal attitude, but overall was pleasant. We were seated in a small room amongst several other tables, but still felt intimate. The lighting is a bit on the dark side, but the candles bring out a great atmosphere. A violinist and cello created a romantic feeling (Enchanted Rock Orchestra Strolling Duo). We started with cocktails, which were crafted beautifully. The menu has old classics as well as innovative ones. For the appetizers, we had the focaccia bread which was delicious as well as the stuffed mushrooms which were delicately made and quite tasty. The wine list is short but encompasses Old world and New World wines. My wife had a Bordeaux while I had a Tuscany blend. Both delicious. For our entrées, we shared the filet mignon with peppercorn sauce with candied brussels sprouts and hand whipped mashed potatoes as sides. The food was surprisingly delicious, well presented and portioned. We truly enjoyed our entrées. For dessert we had the bananas foster cheesecake. Unique, not too sweet, delicious ending. If you come to Fredericksburg, definitely try this restaurant. You will enjoy the experience, the ambience and most definitely the food.

Wagyu should taste highly flavorful! - Mashed potatoes were authentic, yet also bland and lacked flavor. - Great cocktails and wine options. - Very limited space inside. It's difficult to walk to the bar or bathroom without running into multiple people, so if you prefer spacious areas, lookup pics of this place first! - Charging around $20 per person to book a reservation (refunded at check-in) and being unable to change a reservation the day before, even when the restaurant still shows availability, is ridiculous. I've visited tiny islands where the locals truly depend on tourism for every dollar of their livelihood, so you can't tell me this restaurant needs to charge for reservations to survive. I've never experienced this anywhere as a frequent traveler! - I respect their strict NO ball caps policy, but it was odd that my husband and I had a large naked Marilyn Monroe portrait on the wall for our main view. That's not exactly classy either!

Once you're inside, you can explore a lot of the house and it blew me away how much you're able to walk around and see. There's art everywhere, tons of movie memorabilia, and it kinda feels like a Texas Chainsaw museum that just happens to serve food, which is pretty awesome. The theme isn't subtle either (in the best way). One area had a bar with a severed head behind it! There are so many little details, displays and photo moments that other horror fans are going to be obsessed with too! Even the menu is fun, with stuff like the Chicken Slaughter sandwich and the Hitchhiker's grilled chicken. I know it's cheesy, but I love it, especially when the whole place is packed with memorabilia. Food was pretty good too. The experience is definitely the main event, but the food held its own as a bar and grill, and mixing that with how cool the place is made it feel like a full stop, not just a novelty visit. Service was fine but not super standout. There were only a couple staff members actively helping people while others were cleaning up, and everyone was nice enough, just not really "above and beyond." Our food also took a while for a burger and a turkey sandwich, but honestly those are my only real complaints, and I'm only even mentioning it because I'm also here to talk about the food. It was great regardless of the wait. Upstairs has a few more Leatherface items plus some gory/spooky decor, and there's a cool little location map where you can stick a pin in to indicate how far you've visited from! They also have a creepy skin looking guest book to sign, which is such a perfect touch. One real warning though: it's an old house. In Texas, Prepare for the heat, and I mean that seriously. If you want to explore outside too, come ready. I had a UV-blocking umbrella and a face mister and I was still feeling it. Sunglasses for the grounds are a must too. Also, there's a kitty living on the porch named Tuxie, and he's a precious little buddy who loves attention. Make sure you say hi. If you're a horror movie fan or you just love weird, memorable places you'll be talking about after, this one is absolutely worth it.

Most of my pictures are of the place, but the food and drinks were satisfying too. They offer standard American fare and our waitress did a great job juggling our orders all while being efficient and kind. I made a reservation online easily which is recommended because they can get busy, especially on a Saturday. I tried their artichoke dip which was decadent and served with chips. I got so full from that that I just had a stuffed baked potato as my main course which was really good too. Their beers were reasonably priced even for drafts. They also have fun specialty cocktails aptly themed to the history of the restaurant. We're planning to go back another time for brunch and to enjoy the town of Kingsland a little more. We were treated to a gorgeous Sunset on our visit but left before we lost too much light given we all drove from San Antonio and didn't want to be on the smaller hill country roads too late at night. We passed a few deer so you do want to keep an eye out for the local animals on the way there and back if you're coming from a different city.

The menu said penne pasta, but what arrived was a different pasta shape, rigatoni maybe, that actually worked better. The sauce filled the pasta, so every bite had plenty of flavor. The salmon was cooked nicely with a crisp exterior that added great texture to the dish. My husband ordered the shrimp po'boy, and unfortunately his experience wasn't as positive. The first sandwich had to be sent back because the shrimp were so overcooked they had the texture of chicharrones. The staff quickly remade it, but the second sandwich was only slightly better. Part of the issue seemed to be the size of the shrimp. They were quite small, which makes them much easier to overcook. Considering this is a seafood and steakhouse restaurant, we were surprised by the size and quality of the shrimp. That said, both our waiter and the manager were very kind and responsive when addressing the issue. We chose not to send the sandwich back a second time, and my husband simply didn't finish his meal.
