We visited again today and were delighted as well as filled. Service was good but the food was fantastic. I have had a lot of Mexican and Tex-Mex food and then there are those who attempted and fell short. Our server was on her game for during our dinner, food was hot, tender and well seasoned and the portions were very filling. Owner came out to talk with some tables and made everyone feel that we were appreciated. We have been looking for a truly Mexican, Tex-Mex place for and we found it! Thank you! Y'all! Seriously! I didn't realize I had been eating so much mediocre Mexican food until we came here! The enchiladas were soooo good!! The chips and salsa were great, the ambience is nice, the service was on point and the charro beans, my measuring stick, were delicious. I had the Flag Plate (3 different fantastic enchiladas) and my wife had the Alfredo Plate and loved it! Anytime we come near here or hell I would drive from Georgetown for this food! I'm a stickler for steak tacos and steak quesadillas. My street tacos were legit ! Charro beans mmmmmmmmm. The salsa they give you with the chips is SPICY! The green salsa with the street tacos hit the spot ! Very quick service. Food came out super fast as we dined outside at 530pm on a wed day night. We heard it was byob, which it wasn't. Consistently good Tex-Mex food! Chips and salsa are so yummy! The drinks are in huge cups. Attentive waitstaff and Alfredo is usually on site managing things. I always get the chicken chimichanga with queso instead of the red sauce. The flautas are good. Fajitas excellent. The solpapillas are delicious! "The Day of The Dead, 24/7/365. " When this restaurant was located between Kemper and Lampasas, on HWY 190 it was fantastic, excellent food, always packed with customers. They didn't have weirdo Idols strewn about. I have nothing against the Day of the Dead, it's great giving homage to past generations of Families, Friends, but 24/7/365??? After they moved to the current location off HWY 281 everything changed. At first it was ok, they had traditional dancers, etc... but the food was not the same. It tasted frozen, pre-made, tasteless like fast food vs. Homemade Tastes. This is probably way I got sick the last 2 times, making my experience awful.... no, I will never return there, I prefer to enjoy my meals going down, not coming up. Following the advice from The Daytripper (a guy who does Texas tips and info for travel) we stopped for lunch at Alfredo's in Lampasas as we passed through while on a work trip. My colleague and I ordered the Compueso (queso with ground beef and guacamole in it) and we each ordered the #6 as an opportunity to try more items. At glance the food looks amazing... the salsa they serve with their chips is a little spicy, so I was excited to have great food with good flavor. Sadly, it was not the best. When we got the queso, it had an overwhelming flavor of processed/American cheese. Where as it wasn't the best queso flavor over all, I wasn't overly surprised to find that flavor profile in queso. When our lunch came, again it looked AMAZING - sadly that is where the amazing stopped. The cheese used in/on all three items was processed/American cheese. What a true disappointment! The flavor profile of processed cheese is completely opposite of real cheese (usually cheddar or Cotjia cheese). Beyond the cheese issue, the sauce for the enchilada had very little flavor and tasted almost watery. Service was just so so, which was expected as we ate at off time of day- I'm sure it would be great during peak times. I took a ride with my Family out to Lampasas, to eat at Alfredo's. The restaurant was busy but they were able to seat our party of 11 immediately. The menu has all of the usual Tex-Mex meals. I opted for a burrito plate which was really tasty. Of course anything covered in Chili Con Carne and cheddar cheese is delicious in my book. The rest of our party had enchiladas, flautas or fajitas. Everyone enjoyed their meal and were satisfied. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was very clean. This place is conveniently located off of HWY 281 in Lampasas just as you are leaving town. I have stopped here a few times for lunch on my trips back home. They have a great space with an impressive outdoor seating area. This restaurant is no frills on the inside and gets down to business. Their chips and salsa are well done, and will be refilled as quickly as you can hope for. I have only ever had their enchilada platter, with either the red or green sauces on my cheese enchiladas. Both sauces are tasty and authentic. The beans and rice are tests - tests of your discipline and willpower - do you taste them or just give in and inhale them? You decide. Beware, they ONLY take cash. They have an ATM by the door that charges you to use it plus whatever your bank charges you to use this unaffiliated janky ATM. After 10$ in fees, I Didn't even want to leave a tip after all that.... But I did. When I took the tab to the cashier there were tip jars for every position there... the cooks, the waitress and the cashiers.That is just crazy to me!!! The place appeared to be clean. I was in town for work, looked up local restaurants, found this hidden gem, as soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile. I ordered some enchiladas, great flavor and temperature hot. Just the way I like it, while I was having lunch I saw many locals come in and chat with there favorite waitress. Stopped here for a bite while on the way to Austin from Montana after getting a recommendation from one of the locals and it did not disappoint! Service was great-very attentive. You can tell the owner genuinely cares about his customers and the quality of their food--which is not always easy to find when you're looking for a quick bite on the road. I had the Tilapia and my boyfriend had the beef fajita nachos and it was the perfect amount of food and delicious! Delicious Mexican food in a gorgeous setting whether you eat indoors or out awaits you at Alfredo's on the 281 just south of Downtown Lampasas. We enjoyed every bit of our delicious Tex-Mex dinner here this evening. We stared with the queso with pico de Gallo, and smooth, creamy, cheesy white queso dip with delicious pico de Gallo stirred in. Served with fresh greaseless corn chips, this was a great start to our meal. I had the stewed chicken platter, which was a generous helping of delicious tender chicken on top of a lot of iceberg lettuce, that was studded with fried pickles jalapeño. I am not a fan of iceberg lettuce, but I will definitely get this again (without the lettuce). I asked for a side of corn tortillas to make my own tacos, which were quickly brought. My daughter got the two tostadas plate, which were very generously topped with large portions of guacamole and smeared with flavorful refried beans. IMPORTANT: THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS, so BRING YOUR CASH MONEY, HONEY! Service is quick and professional. The owner is always here so the staff are on their toes and everything runs smoothly. Next time we hope to sit outside, in the beautiful landscaped harden by a little spring-fed pond. I learned a curious lesson about small town restaurants on a recent visit to Lampasas. My mom tried to dine here a few years back only to arrive to an 1.5 hour wait on a weekday. Only Tex-Mex in town? New hotness perhaps? Well, a few years later my car club arrived to check Alfredo's out. Hadn't had much luck at finding quality food in the area with our last visit to Toupsie's. And, not much luck here despite the beautiful setting along the river. I will give Alfredo's credit for trying to get our entire group into a table. I called ahead while on our run to advise of our arrival. Service for being such a big group was pleasant and attentive. Cash only folks, you've been warned. Food was just OK. Our sour cream enchiladas suffered hugely from lack of flavor. It was as if they just scooped on plain 'ol sour cream and threw it under the salamander. Rice and beans were decent. I noticed barley blanched green peppers on a quesadilla across from me. Back in the parking lot the chatter was about the great roads; consensus was't favorable for a return to Alfredo's. Well, two strikes for Lampasas grub.
