And half of the drink selections were out of order with handwritten notes stuck to the dispensers. Our order was 2 pork ribs for me and tea to drink; a chopped sandwich and tea for my lunchtime companion... nearly $35 Never, ever again. By the way, the kitchen lady came out wearing a gray tee-shirt with a word across the front -- It said, "BULLS***!" I had to wholeheartedly agree. But that's about all they got right.

I decided to follow the exact same footsteps as they did in the Episode that Lampasas, TX was featured. I found myself at this charming, beautiful family owned restaurant. What an amazing find. The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor area that reminds you of the outdoor areas of resorts in Mexico. The food is fresh, light, great value and absolutely Delicious! The service from the time I walked in to the time I left was top notch. Everyone was very friendly and I love how when a local came in, they were welcomed as family and if you were new to their establishment, they took the time to greet, welcome you, talk about their menu and gave you suggestions. I had a Mango Winerita (they can only serve beer and wine since they're close to a school and a church) which was super refreshing. The usual chips and salsa came to the table. The salsa had a nice flavor and just the right amount of heat... That your taste buds response to but than the heat goes away. The Queso was liquid gold... Smooth and cheesy... Perfect consistency that coats your chips but doesn't drip all over the place. I was treated to a different salsa that isn't normally brought to the table unless you asked for it. Woww!! Chunky with a nice roundness of smokey flavor, freshness and again the perfect touch of heat. The Jalapeno Fried Chips are beyond words... Thinly sliced, fried golden perfection with a Ranch Dipping Sauce to accommodate them. I couldn't stop eating them! So addictive. Than my main course... The Mexican Steak plate. Thinly sliced perfectly tender cooked meat with onions, peppers and tomatoes tossed all together. Rice and beans rounded off the plate perfectly. Everything was cooked right, everything was fresh and surprising light. The portions are generous and the prices are extremely reasonable. It was a perfect way to end my Day Trip in Lampasas. I look forward to going there again and exploring more of their menu. If you are from that area and have never been... Go support your local businesses! Absolutely YES. I just can't resist it! Everything goes together so scrumptiously, and I know I'm definitely not the only one who considers it an all-time favorite. Yeah, prices have gone up, but guess what? They've gone up everywhere. That's life. If you want good food and you want it done right, just pull on in and pick something off the menu.
