Jimmy On Down Today this ol Chef decided to take a trip to get some breakfast. But not just any breakfast, we were seeking something with an elevated home style food menu, in a dinner like environment. That's what you get at this location. Keep reading. Upon arrival to the Killeen location, I immediately noticed how packed the parking lot was, with many more pulling up as we were. Normally this is where I'd turn around but I was curious to see how long this busy restaurant would seat us. The answer? No time at all. The hostess was warm, funny, and welcoming. She immediately engaged my children and gave them their menus as she led us to our booth. This place was BUSY. I'd expect an extended wait judging by the amount of people, but the team here seemed to not be bothered by the pace. Our waitress quickly surprised me, in the sweetest southern voice, with our drink requests. She was personal and very friendly when taking the children's drink requests. Kids change their minds a thousand times before they land on.....milk lol. No wait, chocolate milk lol. This is a test with any hospitality person, and she passed with flying colors. Extending both grace and patience as the kids finally placed their orders. As we waited for our drinks to arrive, I noticed how well this place was running. Being an open kitchen, you can observe everything from where we were seated. Every one was moving with a purpose. Back of the house was communicating orders, and constantly checking tickets and times. Servers were quickly moving out orders as they came up and keeping everyone's drinks topped off while serving smiles at each interaction. This should be the standard everywhere you go but if you're reading this, you know that's not always the case. Our food arrived rather quickly. Hot and properly prepared. I had the chicken broccoli egg white omelette with sweet peppercorn bacon. Don't knock it til you try it. I didn't think I would like the omelette but it's actually quite delicious. Not a single brown mark on my omelette showed me the cook knows how to control temp. The bacon though is always the star. The sticky sweetness in every bite, followed by a slight aromatic kick of crushed black peppercorn wrapped in the smokiness that is bacon. PERFECT side and app.My only issue was I ordered two sides of sweet peppercorn bacon, and was expecting them to be served as pictured, but because my waitress was on top of her game, she put them in as two sides instead of two appetizers. Saving me a few bucks. I call this excellence in hospitality and serving. If you made it this far you can tell we had an excellent experience on a very busy Saturday morning. I would give it maybe a 2.5. The service was great. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food had ok flavor. Some of our dishes were in need of a bit of salt and what I ordered is not exactly what I got. I ordered the "meat lover's" skillet and it was more like a potato and cheese skillet. I could barely identify pieces of ham and the taste was bland. The pictures look great! Like the food is really vibrant in color and rich tasting but it did disappoint after the first bite. Stopped in for breakfast on Easter morning and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. Our table was dirty, service was extremely slow, and the staff appeared untrained and overwhelmed. We didn't even get the chance to try the food due to the poor customer service. On our way out, we spoke with a staff member who pointed out the manager and suggested we walk over to address our concerns, which added to the frustration. The food is great! The staff is polite, but my biggest issue with Jimmy's egg is cleanliness. Not meaning the floor or the walls, the booths...all of those are pristine. Sitting at the bar today, i got an upclose look at how the food is both handled and prepared. I watched a guy grab bacon and arrange food on plates after touching his glasses and uncleaned areas. He also went to the back and didnt change his gloves. I then watch servers yell back to the kitchen over food that was sitting under the burners. Being immuno compromised, this is an issue. Food service should be taken seriously and should be handled as if you yourself was dining out. read more

I don't know how I've gone so long without reviewing Jimmy's Egg as my dad absolutely loves going here when I visit him. It's a clean little chain diner with the usual breakfast fare with other items. And like every other chain diner the weekend mornings to afternoons are going to busy as heck! Take that into consideration when you decide to eat here. Service is great. All the staff are friendly and helpful. They stay on top of your refills and check in just right. The food is pretty good. Nothing spectacular, but I've yet to be disappointed. I'm a fan of the build your own omelet options. I've heard the bacon is really good and the burger is fine. My Mom called me one morning and she offered to order take out before left Jimmy's egg for breakfast for me to have. I asked her if I could try their Breakfast Burrito. She brought home a platter with an egg burrito that tasted like there were cheese and tomatoes. There was also some wedge potatoes. Overall the dish was ok. I guess I never expected to have this type of eggs. For me it wasnt my preference. I would probably want something dryer than creamy type of eggs. The salsa was good. It was still good to eat. Had an amazing breakfast here, it's easily the best breakfast joint in town. The restaurant has a home feel with lots of booths and tables. Service was extremely pour. Waitress had to come to the table 4 times to clarifybthe order over a 25 minute span. That's what we saw of her. We even had other waiters/waitresses/and them/they bring food to the table. And ask if we needed anything. I had to go to other staff to get the check. I personally couldn't eat my food because it had become so hard for waiting to be brought to the table. I observed other people be sat, after we ordered, received food before us and finish the meal, be asked for a to go box and pay before I even got up and went to the podium and asked for our ticket. I had to use the qr code to pay because I couldn't get her to the table. Left with no to go box for the bad food to take to a dog, but still had to pay for it. 1 glass for me in over an hour. This was crazy. But apparently killeen has gotten use to this kind of service because of how many stars it has received. read more

Found this little gem for our road trip on "Yelp!" came just for the mug for my father in-law whose name is Jimmy James was our waiter he was awesome, very sweet and patient. Food was okay my husband and son like the burgers they ordered, my ordered quesadillas which he did not eat until later on down the road, my dad has the patty melt he too wound up taking half his to eat later and finally I ordered the BBLT. The BBLT had fresh ingredients and looked good but I am not sold on the bacon aoli I took the sandwich apart and just ate the bacon & tomato. The fries we all had just didn't do it for us they were very bland. I gave four stars because it just felt like it took a long time to get our order and to pay. The food was okay but I can tell that this place is a family favorite because Jimmy's Egg was super busy. If I ever come back to Killeen I would definitely give this place a second try. read more

Absolutely delightful coming here. The staff were impeccable and the food was just beyond delicious! The environment was family friendly and open to having small to large groups. Since it was just my husband and I we didn't wait at all. We ordered the Almost healthy skillet and the Very Veggie Omelette. I came here for the first time about a month ago now and we were happy with our service and food was decent. It was on my mind today so I tried calling to place an order. I was asked to hold for a minute which turned in to 9 minutes so I finally hung up. I tried back a little while later and once again was asked to hold which I was still on hold when I pulled up so I went inside. I did notice it was very busy which I completely understand, I just wish the process to place an order was actually followed through. Aside from that, I was quite disappointed in my sad looking salad today and the few fries that came with the chicken sandwich. The chicken was a tad chewy, the lettuce was a bit wilted and it was just a handful of lettuce with some shredded cheese tossed on it. The meals were very underwhelming. I Will say they have great hot chocolate. Also, the bacon was at least cooked and was good. There was supposed to be onions which I'm assuming are the tiny few things on the top bun but I didn't taste anything. This is my second time coming to Jimmy Egg's and it's always packed for breakfast. Today I ordered Chicken and Waffles and it comes with eggs your way. So I ordered them scrambled with cheese. My boyfriend ordered grits with cheese, scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon and sausage patties with a side of toast. Now I never had chicken and waffles from here. I'm use to bone-in chicken with waffles but they offered chicken tenders. Tenders were so crispy, loved them. Unfortunately I didn't like anything but the chicken tenders, the waffle was too crispy. I ordered online a very berry waffle meal. I got home and there were no berries so when I called to tell them, the lady said OK do you want me to put your name down or do you want to come pick up the berries? I said pick up the berries and she then put me on hold. She came back to the phone and said OK. You can come pick them up whenever you like... there was no apology of like I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but you can come whenever you'd like to come pick up the berries. We used to love going to Jimmy's egg for breakfast. This Sunday we were looking forward to going again to have a Father's Day breakfast, knowing that on top of usually good food we were also supposed to get a coupon for a free entrée up to $14 for our next visit. When the food came, we were disappointed because the portions were really small and when the bill came and we were looking for our coupon. We were told they ran out of coupons, no substitution for a coupon or anything was offered. The advertisement that you were able to receive a free Father's Day coupon was on every table throughout the whole restaurant. Those coupons advertisements were out there for weeks, so either make sure that you have enough coupons when you advertise something or don't advertise it at all. So basically not only did we not get a coupon, We also did not get a lot of food. We're not sure if we will be returning if your portion sizes don't go back to what they used to be. read more

Waffles seemed to be popular and I enjoyed the plain one but if you want any of the fruity ones then don't expect the flavor to be in the batter but only topped with it also they weren't fresh blueberries either.
