I have been here numerous times for drinks and it's a good spot if you can manage to get a seat at the bar.... Which isn't likely unless you show up when they open at 5. Tonight was the first time I actually ate dinner here and honestly 4 stars is generous and based solely on food and drinks. Service is always something to be desired, they are connected to Red Apron and need to enter through that entrance. You will then need to find someone to give you permission to take a seat at the bar if you don't have a reservation. There is no host stand so really up to you to connect with a server or bartender. Tonight we were greeted very fast a first honestly, and then after we were seated for our reservation it was about ten minutes for a server to come take our drink order. We got our drinks about 10 minutes later and our waitress took our order. We got our food about 30 minutes later, waitress did not come back the entire time to check on drinks or anything. When food came it was really good I ordered the New York strip and my date ordered the pork chop. The strip was melt in your mouth good. I had a bite of the pork chop and was blown away by how close to the strip it tasted haha. We also got a side of the beef fat fries, which I've had before and are always amazing! Honestly, even though the food is really great and they take pride in their meat selection from local farms which I love but for the service and atmosphere (really loud, club like where you are screaming at your dinner companion) it's just not worth it to me. But if loud cramped spaces with mediocre service and good food is your bag.... This is the place for you! read more

As a vegetarian, I was skeptical I could get anything here but a salad. To my delight, B Side changed out their menu and offered a new brunch menu on Saturday. The buttery grilled cheese oozing with cheese was delicious! It would have been nice if it came with a side salad, some chips, or veggies. I would like to see more vegetarian choices on the menu. If you love beef, this is the perfect place for you! Our table devoured the beef fat fries and quickly ordered a 2nd round. A lot of my friends liked their burgers and steak and eggs. I love the cocktails here. I ordered the Sunday Afternoon Weightlessness tequila and ginger-beer based cocktail and the Love Street Gin citrus cocktail. I went with. coworkers for lunch; we all got sandwiches and shared the beef fat fries. I ordered the hot pastrami sandwich and really enjoyed. My coworkers also liked their selections. You can tell the quality of the meats is superb. They mention in detail how they source their meats on the menu--locally sourced, grass fed, etc. These sandwiches are very "hearty", so come hungry! I came here on a Saturday afternoon with my friend. 1) the food was not impressive at all. They literally had 10 items on the menu with not much selection at all. My veggie burger was meh! We got beef fries and it was too greasy. 2) we went down the mixed drink list and got most of it. They were all decent. 3) our first server was not that friendly and not efficient at all. We figured that we would get to B Side at some point. Upon entering, the bartender told us to sit wherever we liked. So we chose a 4 top at the end of a long banquette. Our server was prompt in getting to us. She was friendly and knew the menu quite well. They have quite an extensive beer menu so she said should we get beer to point to the one on the menu that we wanted. My husband chose a beer called Devil's Backbone which is described as being "crisp" on the menu. He liked it and said he would have it again. I chose a mixed drink called "love street". This drink consists of: " citadelle gin, simple syrup, lemon, basil, black peppercorn". It turned out to be a very well made drink. My husband, who usually doesn't order mixed drinks, took a sip and said that he liked it. The lemon and basil went well together without one overpowering the other. That said, I didn't taste any black peppercorn but I didn't mind. Of course, we both ordered the Red Apron burger which consists of: "cheddar, iceberg lettuce, island sauce, onion, pickles, tomato". I asked the server what island sauce was and she said it was similar to Russian dressing. So we both asked if we could get the sauce on the side and our request was honored. As an aside---why is it that so many places have a special sauce for their burgers and that sauce always seems to be a riff on Russian dressing?---I ask rhetorically. We shared an order of beef fat fries which consist of: "garlic confit, Rosemary, ranch aioli". Much as I looked forward to trying these fries there's something about hearing they are cooked in beef fat that has you just about feeling your arteries clogging. Ah...but everything in moderation... We both got our burgers cooked medium. I must say that when we bit into them, we noticed just how juicy they were and we enjoyed them. Yet, I found myself thinking that they weren't out of the ordinary---decent and tasty, yes---but top 10 worthy? We didn't think so. Still, if we were in the Mosaic District and wanted a burger, we would go again. The fries were, indeed, tasty---of course they were---most high fat foods are LOL! There was a generous amount of fried garlic cloves and fried Rosemary which went very well with the fries. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. We found that sharing a side of them was just enough. Before the tip, dinner was $46 + change. My drink cost $2 more than the burger. Since I've recently moved into the neighborhood, my goal is to try every restaurant in Mosaic District (that I haven't already tried yet). B Side is attached to Red Apron Butcher and next to Mediterrafish, in the same vicinity as Mom's and Floyd's 99 Barbershop. I'm not really a big fan of cocktails (I'm more of a beer and wine girl) but I decided to start off with Don't Let Me Down. The heat and muskiness was felt with every sip and I regretted my choice after seeing their extensive beer menu that I'll try next time around. But like I said, I'm not much of a cocktail drinker and my roommate finished my drink and said it was tasty. We started off with the roasted cauliflower, risotto fritters, and beef fat fries to share amongst the 6 of us. All of the appetizers were a hit - especially the beef fat fries! I ordered the sweet corn spaghetti and everybody else ordered the Red Apron Burger. The portions were small (we shouldn't be overeating anyway) but the overall quality and taste of the food was great! The décor is rustic and intimate, and the lighting is dimmed throughout the whole restaurant. There aren't any TVs at the bar which was a nice touch for those who would like to have their next date night here. A restaurant that is actually attached to a butcher? It's GOT to be awesome. And yes, it was! Starting with the charcuterie menu. Pick from the eight or so options, ranging from sopressata to prosciutto to different types of sausages. I can't recall what I had but wow, this was terrific. Served with an appropriate condiment. I do remember that one of them was a super spicy mustard (the waiter told me that when the menu says "spicy," they mean it) and the other was a pickled mustard seeds. It was all heavenly. For mains, I went with the classic Red Apron Burger. Nothing special here - pickle, lettuce, tomato, cheddar on a quality beef patty with a great tasty bun. I say "nothing special" but it was still really delicious and held together very well. The burger doesn't come with a side. But there's a menu of sides and who could say "no" to the potato fries done in actual beef fat. OMG. So very tasty and the horseradish dip that came with them was terrific (I even put some on the burger). One of the deepest/widest/best organized beer lists I've seen in a while. I managed to find something local that I'd not had before that was perfect with the burger - a pilsner. Yum! Very easy to go spendy here with the food, but it's really good food. read more

B Side is a really cute addition to Mosaic! I came here with some girl friends for dinner and drinks last night. B Side is a fairly small restaurant, so all the tables were full around 7pm, even on a Tuesday. I definitely loved the intimate feel of the place. We were feeling adventurous; so I was glad that B Side offered a variety of beers, wines, and spirits to choose from. The beers we got were very unique and delicious! I believe we tried hibiscus, passionfruit(?), and pumpkin beers on tap. They were all great. However, be forewarned (and our server warned me), the pumpkin beer is "a little boozy". It is 17% alcohol and comes in a huge wine glass! It was deep in flavor and reminded me a little of coffee. Regarding the food menu, it is very simple but the food was good. We ordered a few small plates (steak tartarte, the pork pupusa, beef fat fries), and split them as appetizers. Everything was flavorful. The fries were our favorite. I also ordered the Italian beef burger as an entree. I thought the au ju would come on the side as a dip, but the bottom of my burger's bun was soaked and soggy... It was a little unappealing to eat the wet bun that fell apart everywhere. That was the only downside. My girl friend ordered the Butcher's Cut (steak in herb butter and wine sauce). We all tried a few pieces; the consensus was it was a tad chewy, but there was some good flavors in the dish. Overall, B Side is still working out some kinks probably, but they did well for being a new restaurant/bar by being attentive, and answering our questions. My husband and I booked a reservation here for Mother's Day. We showed up with our four-year old daughter and were escorted to a hightop table with back-less stools. I felt fairly certain I'd noted we'd have a small child with us when I mad the reservation. Regardless, the seating was obviously unsuitable for our kid and we said as much. My friend and I came here one night recently to try them out. I had never gone but everyone had told me great things about them and my friend went here once a long time ago . It was only okay. It was SUPER crowded and WAY overpriced. I was surprised you didn't get free bread either... I liked the interior but it was just way too loud. They should either have more servers, or not let as many people dine there. We ordered drinks and they didn't come out until HALFWAY through our appetiser. That was kind of weird. We even came fairly late hoping the dinner rush had died down a little. We were wrong! The menu is pretty limited but everything looked interesting. I really didn't like how you had to order fries on the side. That is absurd. The prices of the meat were so expensive as is. I feel like half the cost of the meal was just branding. We started out with the hash browns, then we each got a drink and a burger. The hash browns came out super fast. They were the highlight of the dinner. What they mean to say is, they put the slightest bit of avocado puree in it.i could barely taste it. That was super misleading. it is also supposed to have chimichuri in it and iceburg lettuce. The menu makes it seem like a hearty veggie burger, when in actuality you get a tiny Patty with like 3 mediocre pieces of lettuce. My friend got the red apron burger and he didn't like it that much. Apparently here they only cook burgers at med-rare and med-well??? Like what is that? How can a chef not know how to make a medium burger. Three words: BEEF FAT FRIES. These are the BEST fries my mouth and tongue have ever been in contact with. I could eat these fries every single day of my life. They are fresh, crunchy and oh so flavorful. I wished I ordered two servings of this just for myself. We came here as a group of 8 for a dinner last month. It's located right in the Mosaic District so we anticipated a wait but we were luckily seated right away. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and I like the idea of a one page food menu. I got the pork meatball which was good but the fries are a MUST get. I forgot the name of our waitress but she was very unfriendly and the service was not up to par. She didn't have many drink recommendations for my friends and couldn't really describe the drink flavors to them. When it came to our under cooked chicken (we pointed out to why it was raw looking) she stated that was how they did it there and confirmed it was normal. Excuse me? When a customer points out any food problem, please address it immediately instead of telling us your opinion when it was clearly under cooked near the bone. The manager was able to comp the chicken entrees, take off 1-2 fry orders which was expected but they also gave us one free dessert to take home. Just wished our waitress handle the situation better. The love street has black pepper in it, which I was a little thrown off by at first, but it really added a little somethin somethin. The polenta underneath the meatball was cooked really well and was really tasty. I also really enjoyed the presentation of the food. The meatball (singular) comes out in a little mini dutch oven and the beef fat fries came out in a mini cast iron skillet Cons: the service was lacking somewhat. My group had to ask about our food/drink 3 times, which was a little annoying. 1 time isn't a big deal but 3 times? They also never brought out our last order of beef fat fries. In addition I was unimpressed by the happy hour menu. They only had 1 cocktail and only 2 food items. Our waitress was nice enough but not very attentive so I had to ask a hostess who happened to walk by to grab the waitresses attention. I am already a fan of this small and intimate place next to Red Apron Butcher in the Mosaic District. They are known for their bar and drinks menu. But my husband and I arrived literally 5 minutes before the kitchen closes, not for drinks, but for food! The kind bartender grabbed our server and we were able to order last minute. Our server was fantastic throughout the night and we ordered his recommendations of beef fat fries and rotissifried chicken. I could literally eat those two dishes everyday! The rotissifried chicken has been brined for 12 hours, roasted for 3 hours, and then deep fried; hence rotissifried. The result is moist and tender chicken with thin and crispy skin. The thigh piece was literally fall off the bone as I ran my fork through the meat. The skin was very seasoned, almost a bit too salty with certain pieces. The dipping sauce with honey, paprika, and other spices was delish with the chicken. The beef fat fries were very flavorful. You can't go wrong with beef fat! I love the whole garlic pieces in the dish and the ranch aioli dipping sauce was also delish with the fries. We also ordered the kale and mushroom salad. I'm a fan of mushrooms so the shavings and pieces of different mushrooms with fresh greens was nice. I thought the dish was overly dressed and would like less dressing. I thought some of the dishes were overpriced. We ordered half chicken portion for the rotissifried chicken and for that price, that's a mighty small chicken. They have this griddled bread they server with all their charcuterie that taste AMAZING. Bonus points bc the charcuterie is from next door. I usually sit at the bar, but if you are coming with a party of more than 2 people, I would suggest either getting there super early or super late because 6-8 especially on weekends gets pretty packed. The mixologist are alcohol heaven sent. The fellas have skills and you taste every ingredient in those well make/mixed cocktails. I don't even know where to begin with B Side... from the staff, the vibe, and the food. Everything was spectacular! I've been there twice now and it was Ah-mazing! both times. their wines, cheeses, fries, and everything in between. Just delicious! Even their meats according to a friend (I'm vegetarian:)! They had me at beef fat fries....A-MAY-ZING! B Side is my new favorite place in Mosaic! It feels very hipster when you walk in, but in a good way. The decor is cool and you realize this place is about the meat when you walk in and look at the walls. It's dimly lit and they have a record player playing real records. This place is pretty small though, which is unfortunate because it fills up on the weekends. We came on a Friday evening around 7pm and they said it would be a 30 minute way and they would text us when our table was read, so we ran over to Target and browsed why we waited. Well we walked back over to the B Side and still waited. We didn't get seated until 90 minutes after we arrived, so that was annoying. But the food totally made up for it. We started with a charcuterie board of meat and cheeses and it was so good. We also had 2 of their house cocktails which we were fans of. They have literally hundreds of beverage options. Then we had the rotisseri-fried chicken and beef fat fries and it was sooooo good. The chicken was so moist and had crispy skin and those beef fat fries just stole the show. Went to B Side a few weeks back and was pretty impressed. Very low-key, sexy, cozy, and rustic atmosphere - a place where you definitely want to kick back for a few hours. And they definitely feature a drink menu that will keep you busy for hours! We got there around 6pm on a Thursday night and by 8pm there wasn't a seat in the house. They have a ton of beers, not only beers that you won't normally see on a beer list (a huge by the bottle selection) but a good number of craft brews on tap as well. In addition, they feature a small, but well-done list of cocktails. Good selection of wines by the glass and bottle as well. As others have mentioned, their food comes from Red Apron next door, so how could I not go for a charcuterie platter? Chose three cheeses and two meats - all were delicious. I like how they laid out the cheese and charcuterie menus, describing the cheeses and meats so even a consumer who isn't particularly knowledgeable about cheese nor charcuterie will be able to decide what they want (and they were very helpful with questions). My only complaint is the bread that comes with the cheese and charcuterie - for lack of a better way to describe, it reminded me of a small, ruffled pita and had an interesting texture. It didn't have much taste, but maybe that was the point, to not take away from the other food? Just a personal preference for me. I'd definitely return! B Side is a sophisticated bar. The craft cocktails are elegant and use made-from-scratch syrups. The wine list is extensive and ecclectic. The beers on draught are not your usual run of the mill mass-produced swill. The beer selection (draughts and bottles) caters to a more discerning taster--- the kind who knows their stouts from their porters, and wishes to try unique/funky small-batch beers from craft breweries. This bar sets itself apart with some good servers (kudos to the lovely ladies behind the bar) and a very sweet host from New Zealand (who said he hasn't tasted the drinks because he's underage. What a sweetie, what good manners). The lady staff are chatty and knowledgeable to guide you through an extensive drinks list. The menu offers a selection of artisan cured meats, served with some toasted flatbread and zingy mustard. It's kind of nice to pick blindly, so I did. I enjoyed the Turkish sweet meat (which was delicious) and the smokier Kant wurst. Our bar tender recommended the Pimiento spreadable cheese which was a winner. My drink was based on Citadelle Gin, with basil and peppercorn. Absolutely on the mark and well balanced. Delightful concoction. The tone and ambience here caters to the eclectic palate. I think this place definitely sets the tone for a sophisticated nosh and drink after a movie at the artsy Angelika Film Center nearby. (The proprietors of this place also run the Rustico chain of pizzerias which are known for their brilliant and extensive brews list and tap takeovers by visiting craft breweries.) I am a fan. I wish there were more unique establishments like this over, catering to the cross section of the population that doesn't want to sit in the average bar, yelling over loud groups of young adult guys who are chugging characterless beers. I would definitely go back here to sample more things off their charcuterie menu and be adventurous with the entire cocktail list. P.S. Their beef fat fries smelt like smoky heaven. I will eat them once I'm done with my college reunion preparation diet. read more

B Side is a meat lovers paradise. If you like meat and lots of choices -- this is your kind of place. Located next to and associated with the Red Apron Butcher, B Side is a small, narrow, upscale restaurant. B side specializes in small sharable plates. This could be a fun, casual place to eat with friends who like to try a number of different dishes. What I don't like are the prices -- they seem exceptionally high -- yes, I know high quality food requires higher prices, but comparable dishes at other places in the D.C. metropolitan area seem more reasonable. Must be the high rents in the Mosaic area. I also did not like the noise level -- it is really loud -- if you like a place with a vibe -- go here realizing you may only get ot look at, not talk to your dinner partner. A nice looking full service bar. Good, but expensive wine by the glass options. Some craft brews on tap. Overall, I am glad I tried B Side -- it has solid credentials as a meat lovers mecca. read more

This restaurant had the most AMAZINGGGGG GLUTEN FREE BURGER I have ever had! I ordered the phatty and it was pure JOY! The chef was 100% +++ . Drinks were also on point!
