This is the first time we've used B&J Tree service and they did great! Phil is very professional. Initially the soonest available appointment was a few weeks out. However, he stayed in touch with me and was able to get me in the next day. I don't expect this to happen all the time but it's good to know these guys always do their best. Once they came, they did an excellent job! We only have a couple trees but they make a big mess if we don't trim every year. Phil's team were in and out in less than 15 minutes! Don't even think about using this company! I hired them to remove a couple trees, including the stumps, and they failed miserably. They used a stump grinder for at least an hour but still failed to get most of the stump. Then they covered up the remaining stump so I wouldn't see it. Don't be fooled by this company. Update*** the owner was able able to get ahold of me regarding the mess and blocked lines and cover those for me. I appreciate a company taking ownership to make something right. The tree trimmers came back to finish cutting and did a much better job and cleaned the mess up including from the pool. My mom hired B&J to trim her backyard tree and privacy hedges. It was a big job, as the tree had grown over the electrical wire. The team came and worked very quickly and listened to her thoughts and suggestions. I explained to B&J that I would be out of town when my work was performed and if it was OK to phone in my credit card for payment. I was told "sure, no problem." When I phoned in two days later they said they were adding 3.5% to my bill because I wanted to use a credit card. When I explained I didn't want to pay the fee and would pay them when I returned in a couple days, a guy comes on the line and asks "How come you're refusing to pay us?" I explained I was given a quote for the work and that is what I expected to pay. I wasn't informed of an additional fee when I asked about the credit card. His reply was "So we get screwed because you don't want to pay" and proceeded rapidly turn into a raging you know what lecturing on that's what everyone will do in the future anyhow. If you don't mind a bunch of men staring at you... Please use a different company. The employees smoke, don't have any masks on when not working, and absolutely love to stare. This company parked in my designated parking spot and when asked to move the lead guy gave such a hard time, saying he had every right to park his truck in my spot. The company claims to have informed their employees of the residential rules, regarding parking but completely ignores the rules. Just now, I walked to at my car at 2:15 to pick up my daughters from school, they are sitting next to my spot, smoking and staring at me. I come back at 2:50 and they are still sitting there, STARING. My daughter asked me why all the men are staring at us. So disgusting and unprofessional. They have zero work ethics. This middle aged heavy set guy with a gray beard was driving, a white truck with your logo, west on Whittier Blvd and got angry at a lady in a gray Mercedes because she blocked his ability to use the shoulder (not a lane) to turn right on Hacienda. He sat on his horn for at least 25-35 secs as the lady desperately tried to get out of his way. He squeezed by and stopped next to her and her young daughter who was in the car and menacingly stared at them. I thought he was going to get off his truck and I was ready to call the cops. I tried calling your business but there was no answer. I think you need to let your people know they are not anonymous and this behavior is not acceptable. read more

Neighbor hired them for some work. Parked on our side of the street and stood in our lawn smoking cigarettes. I have a two year old daughter that gets dropped off and had to put her blanket over her face. I'm also pregnant so cigarettes are very offensive. I have Queen Palms, four of them, and they can be a drive-you-up-the-wall nuisance: the fronds expire early, and the berries that fall require A LOT of cleanup. The owner, a very personable guy, came out to my house that afternoon and gave me a quote: I'm sure it depends upon your trees, but it was $200 to trim and prune the palms and to haul away the refuse. By the way, I also asked for a quote concerning the complete removal of the four palms, and I found the cost very reasonable as well, considering the expansive root system that had established itself throughout the yard. So when the time comes to finally say goodbye--and believe me, it will--I'm sure I'll see them again. read more

Phil came right over, and gave us a very competitive quote. I had multiple quotes that were 50% and even 100% higher. We scheduled the work for a few days later. They showed up with a large crew (+/- 9 guys), all the necessary equipment, and completed the work in a fraction of the time I have experienced with other smaller crews.
