Tree(s) Removal 1-2-24 It was the hardest ordeal due to backyard issues from a previous tenant. There were several things that were not managed! Joel was the second out of 4 people who gave me an estimate to do the following: Remove 6 podocarpus, a lemon tree, an avocado tree, so much ivy that overgrew to 3 ft in width! Plus a calamansi tree that needed much needed trim as it stood at least 12 ft high+! It was a jungle out back ! Out of all the tree trimmers, Joel smiles and introduced himself and very confident. So the price was also very good and competitive to others, but I knew he should be the one to do this project. He ran late when it was time to do the work, so if you are punctual like me then just call him. He picked up and has some machine issues, but he delivered as promised to haul off and remove all the following as stated. When I asked for certain things to be trimmed like the ivy, he kept up with Moses to trim it right. Haha ... Plus the calamansi tree was a last minute project but he was still able to do it with no problem. He completed everything in 4.5-5 hours! Plus made sure it looked neat and clean when completed. I liked the fact that he spoke to my mom over Facetime making sure all the worl was going well, too. If you need someone to help you with your trees or backyard grooming Joel is the guy! He loves what he does in helping you decide, and why I chose him because he seriously walked the property and really tells you why a certain tree can't grow in a spot. There is something to be said for honoring your quote, showing up on time, having the materials delivered and completing the job when promised. Joel and Jesus were excellent. I have three separate plots of glass. They replaced and resodded 2 of the 3 and then removed grass and spread rock in the third area. I also had Joel demo and pour concrete in two separate areas. The height and location of our 36 trees were beyond what the majority of the tree experts could handle (nearly 30+ feet high, and next to a busy street in Fountain Valley) he was able to start the SAME DAY as the estimate! We were walking around the neighborhood and saw Joel working on a neighbor's yard. We stopped to get his card. We compared many quotes and he was by far the most fair and professional. Joel cleaned our yard of weeds and uncontrolled crab grass. He treated it and put down plastic and gravel to prevent regrowth. I hired Joel to remove a dead bush, trim an overgrown bush, remove a weedy patch, and trim the lawn. At the end of the day, my 2-year-old fescue lawn was nothing but a patch of dirt. Joel says this is a "trim." I say this is going to be nothing a breeding ground for nutsedge and oxalis. And he was so concerned about not using poison on the Bermuda grass because it would damage the lawn as well, and then he does this??? I was trying to make my lawn less of an eyesore, not more of one. I feel like I went to the hairdresser for a trim and got a buzz cut instead. So unless your goal is to have your lawn decimated, I'd take your business elsewhere. ETA: I've been on the internet all day trying to figure out how to salvage my lawn. I've learned that the term for this is "turf scalping," that cool-season grasses (such as red fescue, which is what our lawn was) do not tolerate scalping, and that removing more than 40% of the grass's overall height may irrevocably damage the lawn.
