We spent a few weeks looking for contractors to redo our driveway, expand our approach, and add some drainage/concrete walkway to our side yard, and landed on Concrete Plus. Paul is the sole owner and operator of Concrete Plus, and he is ho is a stand-up character. Very humble and knowledgeable. Paul provided a very reasonable quote that was on par to other concrete contractors I contacted. However, what set Paul above the rest was his ready/willingness to go into detail about the demolition/construction process. Paul pulled the appropriate permit for our approach widening. Working with Concrete Plus was very easy. Generally one of his guys (Cooper) was on site coordinating work with other laborers. Paul was also present most days working the heavy machinery, giving direction, and other foreman tasks. The first few days were spent demoing the existing hardscape/softscape. Then, they laid down appropriate formwork and rebar. Due to weather and the weekend, pouring was delayed.. but everything was poured and finished within one day. They also repaired/replaced sprinkler lines and heads as they needed to be moved as part of the work. Like most contractors, Paul invoices based on progress payments, which were very fair. There was one instance where Paul requested payment ahead of schedule, but I had no fear of him not completing the job... though others may not find this palatable. They cleaned up very well after construction was completed, and even power washed our driveway. I am also waiting on him to pick up 3 pieces of 20' rebar he left behind... and maybe one day he will... or I'll just keep it on hand for another concrete project. To-date there are a few small hairline cracks in the new concrete, but all concrete cracks so I'm not fretting it. All said, I'd gladly recommend Paul and Concrete Plus to others. read more

We bought a fixer-upper = lots of work. The backyard was a mess. We're usually DIY and although concrete demo and laying concrete is within our realm, it's hard back-breaking work. We decided to leave it to the professionals. Cue in Concrete Plus, a family-owned and operated business (thanks to Yelp!). They are licensed, insured, and a legit company. Paul (aka Polo) was my main contact and he was friendly, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. We contacted Paul through Yelp and scheduled him to give a complimentary estimate on the job. I got estimates from a few other companies and by far, Concrete Plus came in lower at price and we felt comfortable with Paul. To be honest, when we were getting estimates for concrete demo/hauling/installing, we were shocked by how much it is. It is hard and messy work, and we felt it was well worth our money. This review is for concrete demo, removal, hauling of existing concrete, and installation of concrete (light broom finish, concrete scored every 8ft, steel reinforced with 3/8" rebar every 2 ft on center wire tied with 4" thickness). Paul also made sure the concrete is sloped in certain areas for proper water drainage (you wouldn't want the concrete to slope into your house, but out towards the grass or drainage system, etc). What's nice about getting professionals to do the job is that they get it done so much quicker than we would have ever done it. Paul and his team finished within the estimated amount of days he told us (3-4 days). We're so happy with how the concrete turned out. (See photos) Also note, the finished photos have white marks. I took the photos during the time the concrete needed to "set". The white marks are gone by now and the concrete is so smooth & gorgeous. We received at least eight estimates from Yelp recommended concrete contractors to install a 600 square foot patio in our backyard. I had several contractors decline to do the work due to a large amount of grass and dirt to be removed and a possible drainage issue! Our project was either too small for them or they were too busy! Just based upon my photos, posted on Yelp, Paul immediately emailed me a detailed estimate and then drove from Anaheim to the south bay to look at our backyard. Paul and his team were fantastic! We had a relatively large project, and we thought we'd have to have multiple vendors come in to get it all done. Paul and company were able to do it all!! Our goal was to extend our driveway, which meant pulling out a couple of large garden areas with tons of plants and leveling everything down. We wanted a new walkway to the front door, which also meant ripping out another large planter (you can't see it in the picture, but it was along the house leading up to the front door) plus the existing walkway so that it could be repoured and widened. A bush and small front ironwork "fence" was taken off, and the entire front lawn was graded so it would end level to the front sidewalk. Paul & team relaid our sprinkler system to accommodate the new layout & walkway, and they sodded the front yard. Finally, we wanted a small side patio extended to accommodate a jacuzzi, which meant tearing out a ~12' tree/bush plus stucco wall (you can't see it because of the giant tree/bush!) and laying a pipe for an electrician to come in and add a 200v line for our jacuzzi. They also laid brackets into the concrete so that we could build our wooden fence without having to worry about bracing those ourselves. Paul himself is terrific to work with. He was super responsive, in fact he was the only contractor who both came out to look at the scope of the project AND get us a quote (of the four contractors we reached out to, one did not respond, one said they were booked through 2020, one came out and never sent us a quote even after repeated follow ups). The work was done so rapidly and so well. I could not believe the amount of work they got done every day! Everyone was masked up and took great COVID precautions, they cleaned up the site every day leaving it in good working condition, and Paul let us know when he had to turn off water as he knew we were working/schooling from home. Paul is the best! He and his crew went more than above and beyond from the work I hired him to do. First off, it was difficult finding a contractor to take the small job of 150 sq. ft. walkway I needed installed. Most would outbid themselves or flat out not respond but not Paul, he got back to me in 10min with a fair quote. They were on time, did great work, and it became obvious he knew what he was doing when he recommended to install drainage piping before pouring. The best part is he did this at no extra cost and even brought the extra materials himself! The icing on everything though was when in conversation I just mentioned I had some stucco in the area they were working that I needed to patch afterwards, and Paul offered to take care of it again at no extra cost. Paul even came back a third day with more stucco to repair an area in the front of my house that was badly peeled, no added cost, no strings attached, just the best customer service. I couldn't find it mentioned anywhere in other reviews, but Paul is fully licensed and bonded. The best decision was to hire Paul. Hands down Paul and his team were hardworking and did such a wonderful job. This is after I interviewed many companies and received many quotes. I am very picky and expect things to be done correctly and on time. Paul was the last estimate on a Saturday afternoon. Once my husband asked questions and Paul knew every single one to codes, permits and what would be best for our home. My husband is a licensed electrician and knows codes and has a construction background. The work that Paul and his crew have done to our backyard far exceeded our expectations!! Every other company said minimum of 2 weeks, Paul had everything done including clean up in 9 days. Paul demoed a 55 foot retaining wall with a large slope 36 feet high, demoed the side of our house and redid with stamped concrete, also removed thousands of pounds of dirt. I hired Paul late last year. I am very disappointed in the quality of his work. I had cement work done, and BBQ island, and a fire pit done by Paul. Three weeks after the job was completed, the cement cracked!!! Three weeks later! I called him and he cane out to survey the damage. He was apologetic and said he did not recommend that it be fixed because it would make it worst. To make up for it, he said he would do some other work on my property. I contact him to make an appointment for him to do the other work. We made an appointment, and he failed to show up. I texted him and he said he got busy and and we scheduled another appointment. Again he did not show up and he did not text or call. I have been trying to reach him for the last couple of weeks and have been unsuccessful. I've called, texted, and messaged him on Yelp, but he has not returned my messages. We paid him $14,000 and the quality of work was not good. There's has been another crack on the cement, a crack in the fire pit, and a crack on the island countertop. Paul comes off as a nice guy who tries to help you to get you the best deal, but it's just to take your money. When you try to contact him for issues about the quality of the work, he disappears. Be careful when hiring him and make sure you get everything and any warranty in writing. He should be ashamed of himself for taking advantage of people. If I could give zero stars I would. read more
