This is my revise review on P&R Lathing…read more To save time I won't go into all the details, but I hired P&R Lathing to remove and replace the weep screed and replace the black waterproofing paper at my home. When the work was finished, I believed everything had been done correctly and I initially left a positive review. I cannot remove the review so I am updating it. Later, I hired a mold remediation company to address a separate issue. During their work they removed a full wall of drywall. When they finished their process, the owner showed me that daylight was visible through multiple gaps at the bottom of the wall by the weep screed. If I didn't have the drywall removed I would have never known that the work was done improperly and would have ended up getting mold again. He explained that if the problem is not corrected, Moisture and pests can enter and mold will return. It appears that when P&R Lathing installed the weep screed, there are many gaps where you could see daylight from the outside. Because of this, insects came inside the house and had moisture intrusion entered the wall cavity, and during rains my mudsill, 2x4's and the interior of the black paper was wet. I had to run air blowers and a dehumidifier to dry the area to prevent mold from returning. I contacted Richard Warren, the owner of P&R Lathing, and asked him to resolve the problem. He said just put some caulking on the inside and outside. That is a band aid I paid almost $5,000 hired a licensed contractor because I wanted it to be done the right way! You are not supposed to put caulking on the outside or else you will get mold. I even offered to pay for the removal and replacement of the weep screed as long as it was corrected properly, without any additional profit to him since the original work had already been paid for. He had a worker paint on the foundation a cement sealer that didn't work. As a result, I filed a complaint with the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) and am currently waiting for them to resolve the issue. In my opinion, I would recommend hiring a different contractor. While the workers were doing the work, Richard never came by to check on the quality of the work. He only came at the beginning to show the crew where to do the work and returned again when the job was finished to collect the payment.

For the 2nd visit in March 2026, unfortunately the company did not meet the same standard. We communicated via the same number, so they were aware of that we were interested in the same work as before last year (weed removing, trimming of tree shrub) This time, a different employee (H.H.), performed the work. He trimmed the trees and shrubs a bit more quickly than Francisco did, which was not an issue in itself. However, he didn't remove the overgrown roots, but rather just trimmed them, which caused the plants to grow back much faster than before. He also didn't apply any weed killer. After we paid via Zelle, we noticed that our 24-hr security sign had been snapped in half and left on the same spot it was planted. No shrubs were around that area. The employee didn't mention to us at all, but when we asked him what happened, he initially said he didn't know. Only after we saw pictures showing that the sign was intact, he apologized. Additionally, another blue security sign next to our AT&T fiber box was missing. The sign had been in place for months and was clearly visible from the driveway since the shrubs didn't fully cover it. The worker claimed he never saw it. We understand accidents can happen, but the lack of communication and transparency is unfortunate. We are likely moving on to another company.

Summary: Pleasant, honest, hardworking, and timely. I would recommend Aloha Concrete to anyone. Context: My expertise is in law and finance; and my roots are in small developments in the LA area. Thus, I have a strict but fair grading system for contractors. Aloha Concrete continues to exceed my expectations. Review: Aloha Concrete is an experienced team with Wesley at the head. He is much more than your average contractor, so if you treat him with respect you will walk away with a friend. There is a 50/50 mix of their work for me coming in either at or below market price (but never above) and I have not received one change-order. More importantly, their projects have given me peace of mind that they are on track regarding: productivity, efficiency, and timeliness. This doesn't mean that there are not obstacles to overcome, but the obstacles are the nature of construction because land, materials, and supply chains are imperfect. When an obstacle is encountered, Wesley does two very important things: (1) he explains the matter without creating anxiety and (2) he explains the options for resolution. Final thought: Wesley and Aloha Concrete have good energy and good momentum. Other contractors are nice and tell you what you want to hear in the beginning of a project, but Aloha Concrete can go the distance because their engagement and conduct is genuine. read more

We are ecstatic with the results of our yard renovations by Wesley and his crew! They are hard workers and are meticulous about making sure the job is done correctly and perfectly. We had ideas on how we wanted the front and back yards to look, and Wesley offered suggestions to enhance some of our visions which really added to the final outcome. Aloha replaced our old retaining (crumbling!) wall with reinforced concrete blocks and added stone veneer and a concrete top to match the colored and stamped concrete patio he installed. He replaced the front lawn with turf, expanded our flowerbeds, added a walkway (matching the patio), and replaced the grass in the parkway with pavers and rocks (so I can have the fun of creating a succulent tapestry!). Please refer to the pictures he posted. Wesley was very patient when we made a couple of changes and additions during the renovation, and he stayed on schedule to meet our deadline. Wesley is knowledgable, kind and honest...and he even brings his crew lunch every day! As you can tell, we highly recommend Aloha Concrete. To be honest, it really restored my faith in landscaping contractors. I submitted an online request for a quote and the next day Mike emailed me requesting pictures of what our project wanted to include. Originally we just wanted to pull out our front yard plants and redo just the front but there is a $5000 project minimum. After deciding to redo our turf and also include our backyard, Mike came out the next week for a free in person consultation and got me a detailed quote within 2 days. The turnaround time for everything was just amazing, I've never seen anything like it. Our lot is about 3615 sq ft to give a reference point. Our project included: all the labor to demolish/uproot all of our plants including a very large 20 year old tree in the backyard + all the roots (completed in 2-3 days), redid our front and backyard turf (completed in 2 days by Backyard Golf Company), added a veneer stone and cap on our retaining wall (1 week) and replanted all our plants/installed a drip sprinkler system/installed lighting front and backyard (1 week). We have an HOA and Mike had a complete detailed plan and diagram ready for us within 3-5 days. Once HOA got back to us, the project was started within a week and finished in the estimated time frame. Workers came promptly at 8 AM and they were actively working all day not just sitting around. Very respectful, even blowing all the dust at the end of the day to keep the area clean, no garbage left anywhere. The entire project was $30,000 and there weren't any surprise or unexpected costs. Invoices are sent every week on a reasonable schedule and I just loved our experience. I'd recommend Seabreeze to anyone wanting to do their hardscape landscaping in a heartbeat!

My wife and I have a new-build that required additional landscaping of our backyard. We eventually decided to go with California Outdoor Living after reading all their positive reviews on yelp. In addition their quote was very competitive if not the best when looking at other contractors. We already had a design in mind for JC which made the process very quick. Although there was some misunderstanding with the design and drains throughout the process, JC was always responsive with his texts and quick to make adjustments. The moment we got our design approved by our HOA, the construction happened VERY FAST. We emailed California Outdoor living on a Wednesday evening of our approval. The very next day (Thursday), JC arrived to go over the outline. I do appreciate how fast things were done, but it was almost to a fault at times. They were ready to go by the next day but my wife and I didn't feel like we had discussed the plan and execution thoroughly enough. On Friday the construction workers were already digging out our backyard. They spoke only Spanish so communication was very difficult to ensure if our plan was executed appropriately. By Saturday all of the pavers were laid out. Construction was incredibly fast but because of that some details were lost in translation. We discussed with JC that we wanted an 11x14 ft paver island. However the final dimensions was 12.5 x 12.5 feet. We also wanted all the walls of our backyard to be lined with turf. However the paver border ran too close to one of the walls, that putting turf did not make sense. They only left 1 inch between the wall and the paver (see attached image). We appreciate how fast the work was done. The overall work was great BUT not exactly what we wanted. We felt rushed with the whole construction process. However everything was done in less than a week which was incredible! In addition, once the turf was laid out JC noted that window reflections from both our neighbors and our own windows would cause damage to the turf. He informed us this can happen sometimes. Going back to rushing things and not being thorough, we wished JC took the time to look at our backyard and factor in this possibility. If we had known the reflections could damage this area we would have changed our turf design. At the end of the day they are just executing our design, but it's these minor things that left us feeling like our backyard could have been better. However we are still very thrilled with the overall speed and communication done throughout the process! Would still recommend this company. But these small critiques are definitely something to keep in mind for future clients.

I would not recommend this company. Their lack of attention to detail made the entire experience…read moreunpleasant. The drainage tube was installed with the slope going the wrong direction, and the walls were not properly covered before the concrete was poured, leaving concrete splatter all over the side walls. The concrete also cracked less than three days after it was poured. It was poured on Monday morning, and on Wednesday the artificial turf guy was using a large plate compactor right next to the two-day-old concrete. I believe the vibration from that equipment contributed to the cracking. When I spoke with JC about the issue, he told me that concrete will crack sooner or later and that is why they do not warranty cracks. Concrete was poured directly on top of the soil, no gravel was brought first. While I understand that concrete can crack over time, I did not expect it to crack before I had even made my final payment. Despite my disappointment, I paid the remaining balance. After that, I never received any follow-up confirmation that the payment was received , or even a simple thank you.

I rearranged my schedule twice to accommodate them during what was already an exceptionally difficult time, as I was preparing to say goodbye to my 16-year-old dog that weekend. Chris did arrive on Friday as promised, but a week has now passed and I have received neither a bid nor any follow-up communication from anyone at the company. Shortly after the appointment, their Thumbtack profile was also removed or hidden. While I can't say why, the timing was odd, as it prevented me from leaving a review on the platform where we originally connected. I've uploaded screenshots with this review documenting the interaction, including Chris's last-minute cancellation, his offer of a 5% discount, and the Thumbtack notification showing the company was no longer available on the platform. If reliability, communication, and follow-through are important to you, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Their pricing was very honest and reasonable, and they left the area clean when they were finished. The floors in the backyard were downright gross with mold and sand. We were however on a pretty tight time crunch with the new tenants scheduled to move in within the next 2 weeks. Originally we had contacted several places which included AM Masonry & Concrete. Right away we got a response from Amosa. After hearing about our strict timeline he was able to swing by the very next morning to take a look at what we needed done. Out of all the places we contacted, Amosa responded to us the fastest with the most detailed estimate . Other companies took much longer to get back to us. We didn't have to wait an entire day or more for a response. His responsiveness and punctuality was only a few reasons why we chose to go with him. From the get go he went above and beyond to make sure we had what we wanted . We ended up having him do a top cast finishing with diamond cuts control joints . He arrived on time every single day, left the work area clean each day , and even finished ahead of schedule. The new floors look absolutely amazing . Ours is one of the oldest houses on the block, my grandfather built it himself in the early seventies so needless to say there is sentimental value here, the years were told loudly in its dated facade ever more blindly as one by one and year by year the houses around us became more modern and desirable and that contrast was ever more noticeable when it became every other house on the block. Before this project, our front yard was little more than a narrow, uninspired strip adjacent to the public sidewalk that functioned more like spillover from the street than usable property. It did nothing to reflect the scale or architectural presence of our three-story, beach-adjacent home. Today, that same footprint operates as a private, structured courtyard -- a defined outdoor living space that feels intentional, modern, and architecturally integrated. The Techo-Bloc paver installation is executed with geometric discipline and clean proportional balance. The contrasting border trim sharpens the layout, and the modular patterning reads refined rather than repetitive. Where water once pooled visibly, the drainage now performs efficiently and invisibly -- The upgraded water line alone was transformative. What used to produce barely a trickle now delivers pressure so strong it rivals commercial output .The underground drip irrigation system is intelligently concealed beneath the hardscape and reemerges precisely within the base of our large entry planters. It is automated, timer-controlled, and calibrated for plant health without visual clutter. For us gardening is a foreign labor, the system removes guesswork and replaces it with precision. It lays the groundwork for what will be Madagascar jasmine and Rainbow's End climbing roses to ascend the custom trellis Speaking of the trellis -- it is a custom design by Byron himself and serves as the architectural anchor of the entire entry sequence. Its linear steel geometry frames the approach to the home, introduces vertical rhythm, and gives the courtyard presence and scale. The black powder-coated aluminum slat fencing, set atop a raised paver foundation, creates privacy without heaviness.The laser-cut gate beneath the trellis introduces texture and artistry, especially when lit from behind at night. And the lighting system integrated along the fence base and entryway is hospitality-grade in execution. The perimeter wash creates a subtle floating effect. The laser-cut gate panels glow from behind in layered depth rather than harsh brightness. With full color customization available, the space can transition from understated architectural white to vibrant holiday displays with precision. It feels closer to a Ritz-Carlton courtyard or private club environment than a residential frontage. Most importantly, the project didn't just improve appearance -- it created usable square footage. It has become the preeminent gathering space of our home. it is upscale functional living space.The neighborhood response has been immediate .Neighbors who we barely knew for years have introduced themselves. We were referred to Hillside Pavers by a close friend who had completed a similar project not long before ours, and that recommendation gave us a lot of confidence going in. After going through the process ourselves, I can absolutely see why they spoke so highly of the company. From the beginning, Byron made the design and estimating process feel very clear and professional. One thing I really appreciated was that he used an iPad on-site to draw out the design, calculate measurements, and price everything very accurately. It was not a vague "ballpark estimate" type of process -- it felt transparent, exact, and easy to visualize, which gave us a lot of confidence moving forward. Byron also helped us finalize the color choices, especially for the walkway, and his suggestions made a big difference in the final look. Roberto, who supervised the on-site construction work, was also excellent. He really listened to my concerns, took the time to discuss details with me, and most importantly followed through in the actual work without any issues. That meant a lot to me because I care about both design and functionality, and he handled both very well. Casandra in the office and Oscar as the business manager were also great throughout the process. They were organized, responsive, and helped keep everything coordinated smoothly, which made the whole experience much less stressful.
