My wife and I have a new-build that required additional landscaping of our backyard. We eventually decided to go with California Outdoor Living after reading all their positive reviews on yelp. In addition their quote was very competitive if not the best when looking at other contractors. We already had a design in mind for JC which made the process very quick. Although there was some misunderstanding with the design and drains throughout the process, JC was always responsive with his texts and quick to make adjustments. The moment we got our design approved by our HOA, the construction happened VERY FAST. We emailed California Outdoor living on a Wednesday evening of our approval. The very next day (Thursday), JC arrived to go over the outline. I do appreciate how fast things were done, but it was almost to a fault at times. They were ready to go by the next day but my wife and I didn't feel like we had discussed the plan and execution thoroughly enough. On Friday the construction workers were already digging out our backyard. They spoke only Spanish so communication was very difficult to ensure if our plan was executed appropriately. By Saturday all of the pavers were laid out. Construction was incredibly fast but because of that some details were lost in translation. We discussed with JC that we wanted an 11x14 ft paver island. However the final dimensions was 12.5 x 12.5 feet. We also wanted all the walls of our backyard to be lined with turf. However the paver border ran too close to one of the walls, that putting turf did not make sense. They only left 1 inch between the wall and the paver (see attached image). We appreciate how fast the work was done. The overall work was great BUT not exactly what we wanted. We felt rushed with the whole construction process. However everything was done in less than a week which was incredible! In addition, once the turf was laid out JC noted that window reflections from both our neighbors and our own windows would cause damage to the turf. He informed us this can happen sometimes. Going back to rushing things and not being thorough, we wished JC took the time to look at our backyard and factor in this possibility. If we had known the reflections could damage this area we would have changed our turf design. At the end of the day they are just executing our design, but it's these minor things that left us feeling like our backyard could have been better. However we are still very thrilled with the overall speed and communication done throughout the process! Would still recommend this company. But these small critiques are definitely something to keep in mind for future clients.

The drainage tube was installed with the slope going the wrong direction, and the walls were not properly covered before the concrete was poured, leaving concrete splatter all over the side walls. The concrete also cracked less than three days after it was poured. It was poured on Monday morning, and on Wednesday the artificial turf guy was using a large plate compactor right next to the two-day-old concrete. I believe the vibration from that equipment contributed to the cracking. When I spoke with JC about the issue, he told me that concrete will crack sooner or later and that is why they do not warranty cracks. Concrete was poured directly on top of the soil, no gravel was brought first. While I understand that concrete can crack over time, I did not expect it to crack before I had even made my final payment. Despite my disappointment, I paid the remaining balance. After that, I never received any follow-up confirmation that the payment was received , or even a simple thank you.

They were also able to make quick adjustments when our neighbor had some concerns with the hedges we wanted to plant. The scope of the work included adding a concrete pad, extending our concrete patio, planting privacy hedges with drainage and auto watering system, installing artificial grass with paver walkways, and adding pebbles along the exterior wall of our house. Since we have a soft watering system, we also had them install a separate line from the main. Overall, Caliscapes OC was professional, friendly, and accommodating. Out of all the places we contacted, Amosa responded to us the fastest with the most detailed estimate . Other companies took much longer to get back to us. We didn't have to wait an entire day or more for a response. His responsiveness and punctuality was only a few reasons why we chose to go with him. Amosa priced the job fairly and was easy to deal with. Communication throughout the process was clear. The foreman on the job, Joe, was very friendly and easy to speak to. Joe let me know if his crew had any questions and confirmed if there was anything that needed to be clarified before proceeding. Furthermore, Amosa would text me periodic updates and let me know beforehand what the schedule was. We had a hiccup after the plumbers had capped off the outside gas line which shut off the water heater. I contacted Amosa to let him know that our hot water was not working and he was able to get the plumber to come to our house on a Sunday to fix the issue. This type of responsiveness and sense of urgency was appreciated (especially for a family with kids). The work was completed on time and the concrete is a welcome upgrade to the old uneven walkway that we had before. Amosa and Joe's team rerouted some electrical conduit, capped gas lines that were no longer being used and poured new concrete. I recommend AM Masonry & Concrete.

He removed the roots carefully, paid close attention to detail, and surprised us by applying weed killer between the pavers and shrubs. Our family was impressed. For the 2nd visit in March 2026, unfortunately the company did not meet the same standard. We communicated via the same number, so they were aware of that we were interested in the same work as before last year (weed removing, trimming of tree shrub) This time, a different employee (H.H.), performed the work. He trimmed the trees and shrubs a bit more quickly than Francisco did, which was not an issue in itself. However, he didn't remove the overgrown roots, but rather just trimmed them, which caused the plants to grow back much faster than before. He also didn't apply any weed killer. After we paid via Zelle, we noticed that our 24-hr security sign had been snapped in half and left on the same spot it was planted. No shrubs were around that area. The employee didn't mention to us at all, but when we asked him what happened, he initially said he didn't know. Only after we saw pictures showing that the sign was intact, he apologized. Additionally, another blue security sign next to our AT&T fiber box was missing. The sign had been in place for months and was clearly visible from the driveway since the shrubs didn't fully cover it. The worker claimed he never saw it. We understand accidents can happen, but the lack of communication and transparency is unfortunate. We are likely moving on to another company.

I didn't need much, as my planter is only about 7' by 2' max, and I was afraid that maybe they didn't do small sales - but they did and I was able to fill 2 5 gal buckets when what I needed :) I was able to find small/ medium white rocks and also brown lava rocks. The Only thing they don't have is small black lava rock but they do have that in a medium size :) The younger guy that works there also offered to help me get my stone together. Chivalry is not dead folks LOL! So that was appreciated. I don't know what I was thinking, by showing up without a shovel, but they let me use one of theirs.

The first visit cost $1,133 and covered the initial setup and repairs to both my front and back yard sprinkler systems. They did a good job and I was happy with the results. I brought them back a second time for $1,716 to handle wiring, fix some broken sprinkler components in the front yard, and extend the system to cover additional areas. The wiring of both the front and back systems was done perfectly, and I appreciated that part of the work. That said, if you have fruit trees or citrus in your yard, be aware that they do not have the expertise to handle specialized watering needs for those plants. The sprinklers near my fruit trees were set up incorrectly, and a professional arborist I later consulted told me the configuration would overwater the trees. I called OC Sprinkler Doctor to come back and fix the issue, but they never returned my call. Now I am in a position where I will need to hire a professional arborist who also can do landscaping to come back and fix the sprinkler system again, likely at a cost of $3,000 or more, when I am able to afford it. They are reasonably priced and capable of handling standard sprinkler lawn work, but the lack of specialized knowledge around vegetables, fruit trees and citrus trees, combined with the complete silence when I tried to get the issue resolved, may end up costing me far more in the end.

In planning to redo the backyard, I requested estimates from a number of landscaping companies. Almost every time, the estimate was a handful of high-level tasks: Scrape, sprinklers, sod. It wasn't enough detail to give me confidence that I was going to get what I asked for at the expected cost and timeline. Roy immediately stood out with prompt callbacks and keeping commitments. The estimate was top notch - each task called out in detail, with the cost and any options to consider. How many plants, what genus and species, installed where, in what pattern, etc. The work, once I gave the green light, appeared to be well done and executed according to plan. There were a couple detours, such as pre-existing sprinkler valve wiring that was in rough shape, but Roy contacted me in advance each time so I could decide whether to leave it, fix it, or upgrade it. After the work was complete, Roy provided guidance on keeping everything green and happy, from the sprinkler timing transitions to fertilizer. Lawn Master OC helped us transform our backyard in a big way. We had a large trellis and gazebo with dry rot and the paint was chipping. Roy and his crew came out and demolished it in record time at an affordable price. This was no small task. The poles for the trellis required concrete to be cut delicately so that it didn't damage our pool deck tiles. The gazebo was on a concrete slab 5 inches thick and required some serious jackhammering to get it out. These guys worked non-stop and performed all day long. Lawn Master OC also fixed some irrigation issues we were having and installed a new wifi control box so I can control watering times from my smartphone. Love it! Everything was done quickly and professionally and we couldn't be happier. One thing I always look for is clean up after the job is complete for the day. Each day the crew would clean up and even blow the pool deck so that it was pretty much spotless. I have used Lawn Master a couple of times now. About 3 years ago, Roy and his team updated my front yard planters with new plants/trees/shrubs tearing out all the old stuff and planting new and he also treated the grass and fixed all the irrigation. Then a year later I had him come add irrigation to the back yard, add new plants and treat the grass. This year, I decided I wanted a redo on the backyard. I wanted more flowers than shrubs, so I turned to Roy again. Roy is mindful of your budget and he really does go over and above expectations when it comes to spending time with you designing and plant selection. He really does want you to be happy. The Lawn Master team is friendly, respectful and they leave the job site clean. I get a lot of compliments on my yard and I have one of the nicest in the neighborhood thanks to Roy and his team. We had Lawn Master renovate our front and back yard lawns. They were in sorry condition after the drought's water restrictions. Roy and his crew stripped the lawns, conditioned the soil including the soil of the flower beds, and re-did the sprinkler system. The company is not cheap but the work is satisfactory. He helped us pick the best choice of grass for our southern California sun. He set up our sprinkler system so that it can be managed over the internet, if we want to. Now we can adjust the watering schedule using an app in our cell phone. Roy and his guys did good work and were always accommodating of any modifications that we wanted done. Roy and his crew completely redid our backyard 10 years ago. We were extremely happy with his work. After 10 years we needed the yard to be "tuned up" and wanted to replace some plants. We had Lawnmasters redo our sprinkler system, replace numerous sprinkler valves and install a new online sprinkler controller. And it all went seamlessly. My yard was overgrown and a mess. The sod from 2000 was done and full of weeds. The planting areas were in terrible shape. Fern and I talked and together we put together an idea of a combination of sod and DG. I mentioned to him that I always ask for more than discussed and to make sure he added the additional expense. They showed up on time every day at 6:30am and worked nonstop until dusk. They removed two big truck loads of dirt, old sod, weeds, roots and old plants by loading the truck using wheelbarrows. They put in new drip irrigation, new sprinkler lines and valves and repaired my outdoor electrical outlets. They built three paver borders and used cement to make a paver border fence I built by stacking blocks permanent. He cleaned out a raised planter not in the quote, fixed the drip lines and mulched and used my old fountain to build a bird feeder space in the planter. The quote was very fair and the addition price for the added work was very fair also. I will definitely be using him again for my next project. He also installed new ceramic tiles with my address on the front of the house and cleaned out part of my gutters and fixed the leaks to keep them from dripping on the DG. I submitted an online request for a quote and the next day Mike emailed me requesting pictures of what our project wanted to include. Originally we just wanted to pull out our front yard plants and redo just the front but there is a $5000 project minimum. After deciding to redo our turf and also include our backyard, Mike came out the next week for a free in person consultation and got me a detailed quote within 2 days. The turnaround time for everything was just amazing, I've never seen anything like it. Our lot is about 3615 sq ft to give a reference point. Our project included: all the labor to demolish/uproot all of our plants including a very large 20 year old tree in the backyard + all the roots (completed in 2-3 days), redid our front and backyard turf (completed in 2 days by Backyard Golf Company), added a veneer stone and cap on our retaining wall (1 week) and replanted all our plants/installed a drip sprinkler system/installed lighting front and backyard (1 week). We have an HOA and Mike had a complete detailed plan and diagram ready for us within 3-5 days. Once HOA got back to us, the project was started within a week and finished in the estimated time frame. Workers came promptly at 8 AM and they were actively working all day not just sitting around. Very respectful, even blowing all the dust at the end of the day to keep the area clean, no garbage left anywhere. The entire project was $30,000 and there weren't any surprise or unexpected costs. Invoices are sent every week on a reasonable schedule and I just loved our experience. I'd recommend Seabreeze to anyone wanting to do their hardscape landscaping in a heartbeat!

Not even the decency to share their vehicle insurance information. Its sad that I have to file a CHP report and take them to small claims court to get them to take care of this. So far they very low integrity.

After going through the process ourselves, I can absolutely see why they spoke so highly of the company. From the beginning, Byron made the design and estimating process feel very clear and professional. One thing I really appreciated was that he used an iPad on-site to draw out the design, calculate measurements, and price everything very accurately. It was not a vague "ballpark estimate" type of process -- it felt transparent, exact, and easy to visualize, which gave us a lot of confidence moving forward. Byron also helped us finalize the color choices, especially for the walkway, and his suggestions made a big difference in the final look. Roberto, who supervised the on-site construction work, was also excellent. He really listened to my concerns, took the time to discuss details with me, and most importantly followed through in the actual work without any issues.
