We hired Victor and his team to completely redo our front and back landscaping. They did an amazing job! Before we got in touch with Victor, my husband and I spoke with about five different landscapers. Some of them did not seem qualified or trustworthy, while others gave bids that were simply too high. We were stoked when we finally got to meet Victor. He seemed fully knowledgeable on all aspects of landscaping, and he gave a bid that was very competitively priced. Victor and his team did all of the following for us: demo all of our existing plants and shrubs (including a tall queen palm and several giant birds of paradise), installed new drip irrigation to the front and back, built a new planter bed in our back, added landscape light to the front and back, sod installation in the back, and planted new trees and flowers through our whole front. Victor was able to answer any questions we had along the way. When a certain project had multiple options to choose from, he always made sure to send us photos or bring us samples to choose. The team that worked on our house included Pablo, Santiago, Juan, and Pedro. They were all amazing and did everything that we asked. Victor answered the phone and was very nice! I was told that their minimum service fee is $150 per visit regardless of size of lawn and how small the area to be maintained is. I really appreciate the honesty but don't think this would work for our front yard that is rather small and we had gotten quotes for a quarter of the price. I can see this would be feasible for very large plots of land or large lot sizes with lots of lawn work. read more

Victor has been awesome since day one. My husband and I had a string of bad experiences with other gardeners for a few years after we bought our house in La Mirada. At first my husband tried to keep the lawn up by himself but his work got too busy and I didn't know how to garden at all... I've got a brown thumb, no kidding, I kill plants even if I try to nurture them... I could tell you the bad things that have happened to us with previous gardeners but I'll leave it at my last straw being our grass started to die and noting our broken fence ... you can imagine the rest. And then we found Victor!! I think my favorite thing about Victor is that he is extremely genuine and not pushy with services. Just honest and dependable. We have two large Dobies and he has been flexible and friendly with them, even though they still like to bark at him when he initially comes over. Victor always communicates with me about something I need to check and will stop what he is doing when I'm around and have questions. He charges more than our previous gardeners but due to quality and dependability, we had no problem going with him. He also put repaired our sprinkler system and installed a new drip system for the front walkway strip which is more efficient and doing a better job with less water. Victor and the company he runs are knowledgeable and skilled individuals that perform excellent and thorough work. That is when they show up. At first Vera Landscape was punctual and cleanly trimmed the trees and bushes when required and always maintained the yard with exceptional care at the beginning. But he constantly rescheduled due to what he described as a high work load. I accommodated the best I could, constantly rescheduling service days and even accepting only one service stop per month instead of the original two per month. Eventually, he wouldn't even message why he wouldn't show up and I'd have to call and ask what was going on. After finally pinning the last schedule that worked for both of us he didn't show up. I contacted him to ask why and he said he had to take his mower into the shop as it 'broke.' He rescheduled the following day, but still had a problem with his supposedly repaired motor. He rescheduled the following Tuesday, but didn't show up. I again had to inquire what happened as he was not letting me know he wasn't going to make it. When he did get back to me, he explained his backup mower broke down and he had to buy a new one. He said he'd show up the following day but he never did; nor did he explain why or offer an alternative day. Safe to say, I have a hard time believing a professional gardener/landscaper had defective equipment for nearly a week where he would only be able to provide limited service at best to his clients. As to why he wouldn't be up front and explain why he didn't show up I guess I'll never know. In summary, this is one of the most skilled landscapers you can get; but the reliability in the end was left to be desired. read more

My 92 yr old dad hired Vera Landscape to take care of his yard and we've all been very happy. Victor has been so accommodating, even taking out the green garbage can to the sidewalk for him. The previous landscape people did the bare minimum, consequently the plants and trees were not looking good. This is an update on my first review. Victor has been taking care of my yard for six months now and has exceeded my hopes and expectations. For example, I have a long rose bush hedge along my property line that three previous landscape companies failed to maintain properly. The last people almost killed the roses, but after only six months under Victor's care, the roses are flourishing. Aside from having a beautiful, healthy landscape, it matters to me that it does not require my attention. In the past, I constantly had to point out problems and stay on it to get it done. Sometimes it never got done. I do not have to do that any more. If I see a problem, I know Victor sees it, and I know he will take care of it when he can. One more thing: in addition to exhibiting remarkable expertise, Victor has an enthusiasm for gardening such as I have never seen.
