I found Fern through his five star reviews on Google and Yelp. The reviews were all spot on. Fern and his team were here for 10 days and beautifully transformed my entire yard. My yard was overgrown and a mess. The sod from 2000 was done and full of weeds. The planting areas were in terrible shape. Fern and I talked and together we put together an idea of a combination of sod and DG. I mentioned to him that I always ask for more than discussed and to make sure he added the additional expense. They showed up on time every day at 6:30am and worked nonstop until dusk. They removed two big truck loads of dirt, old sod, weeds, roots and old plants by loading the truck using wheelbarrows. They put in new drip irrigation, new sprinkler lines and valves and repaired my outdoor electrical outlets. They built three paver borders and used cement to make a paver border fence I built by stacking blocks permanent. He cleaned out a raised planter not in the quote, fixed the drip lines and mulched and used my old fountain to build a bird feeder space in the planter. The quote was very fair and the addition price for the added work was very fair also. I will definitely be using him again for my next project. He also installed new ceramic tiles with my address on the front of the house and cleaned out part of my gutters and fixed the leaks to keep them from dripping on the DG. Use Fern for your landscaping needs and I'm sure you will be very satisfied! read more

It was a pleasure working with Fern. He was very responsive and gave me quotes for exactly the type of retaining wall I wanted. Some other people that I reached out to gave me ridiculous quotes or would give me other options that were way out of my budget. Once I proceeded with Fern, his team came out as scheduled and worked diligently. The entrance to my backyard is very narrow, making the use of any wheelbarrows or dollies not an option. Fern and his team carried heavy retaining wall blocks one by one into the backyard as well as gravel by the bucket without any complaints. I feel they even worked longer hours each day to try and get the job done in a timely manner. They did an amazing job and did exactly what I was requesting for. I would highly recommend working with Fern for any landscaping projects. read more

Amazing service!!!!! Completely recommend. Very flexible and will work with you in regards to schedule and pricing. Will be hiring in the future. He even went above and beyond and offered to cut additional trees. read more

Fern's Complete Landscape & Construction Services just completed a 2 week project for us. Amazing contractor from start to finish. I was totally impressed with every phase of their work. The project included removal of a concrete patio slab ( severely damaged by palm tree roots) as well as a connecting slab, approximately 12 yards. Excavation of another 12 yards of dirt and palm tree roots. Brought in, spread and compacted 14 yards of road base as a base for the 11.5 yards of new concrete. Also did grading and set up drainage as needed. All work was done by hand and wheel barrows as access was not big enough for equipment. Communication was excellent, on time every day, very flexible to make changes during the process, pricing was very fair. The finished product was everything I expected. read more

Fern and his team were great on our backyard landscaping project. He came out and provided a written quote the same day with fair pricing. They removed the dying plants on the hillside above the pool and replaced them with new boxwood, drip lines and rocks to cover the weed barrier. He also replaced the valves for our sprinklers as well as installed a new irrigation timer. Finally, he sanded and painted our fence replacing rotten boards. All this was in a very short timeframe. They were courteous, friendly, and cleaned up. I would highly recommend Fern! read more

I just wanted to say a massive thank you for the incredible job Fern's landscaping company did with our yard. The in ground trampoline he helped me install looks absolutely amazing! His team's attention to detail and expertise really shines through in the final result. We are beyond thrilled with how everything turned out. Thank you for making our outdoor space so fantastic! From now on this is my go to company for any help in our yard. Currently getting quotes for building a play set, putting up a fence and re-doing our front yard with Fern. Not only is his team's work amazing but he is very easy/comfortable to communicate with. read more

I am really happy about my decision to ask Fern to rebuild my back yard. It was filthy with old railroad timber and weeds everywhere. Previous owner didn't care about the backyard. I requested multiple quote to the company that I can find in Yelp but Fern is the only guy not to exaggerate how my back yard is bad. He just listened what I need, gave some suggestion, measured the yard, and sent me the estimation in 1 day. And I was surprised how him and his crew works, they were diligent and keep his promise to finish the job. Even they clean my yard after the work done which was not the part of scope. If I have another yard or my friend asked me about who did my backyard, I will definitely ask Fern to do it. read more

We are in the market selling our home and needed to add curb appeal to the front(we previously took out prickly bushes and trees that blocked the window view). We needed it done as soon as possible. Fern is incredibly professional. His work was absolutely perfect. He doesn't leave a mess and he truly went above what I was expecting. I am beyond pleased with the work he did and how beautiful our home looks from the street. It makes me sad to move after putting it in. If you are looking to have your landscape done/refreshed, I recommend going with Fern. read more

Fern and his team did a great job landscaping our side hill and the planters in the front. His recommendations on plants and ground cover were on point based on the soil, amount sun and drought tolerance. We also had him put in new drip systems and tune the lawn sprinklers. It's been a few months since he finished the job. Our water bill is about 15% lower and the slope is filling in nicely nicely. He made sure we were satisfied with the job and came back a couple of times to make sure the sprinklers were perfect. I will definitely have Fern and his crew back for our next landscape project. read more

The last time I had sod installed was the year prior to the drought. Been kicking myself ever since. Frustrated with lawn maintenance to keep it green and inordinate amount of water, I had been considering drought tolerant landscaping for long time. When the guy across the street moved in this year, he hired Fern for a landscaping makeover. I was able to watch Fern and his assistant methodically complete the job, hardly ever stopping for a break. Fern always kept his word, arrived daily at 7am for two weeks. Always cleaned up the work space each evening. Impressive. Fern is a DG (decomposed granite) subject matter expert. He also installed a 10 x 6 feet concrete slab for future shed, no imperfections. Also removed the original narrow cement walkway to backyard and replaced it with 3.5 foot. He follows instructions and kept to the design I had in mind. I recommend Fern for your landscaping requirements. read more

I had a drainage problem. In heavy rain the water came up in my bedroom. I needed grading in my backyard and drainage so the water would flow away from my house towards the yard. Fern came and gave me an estimate and did the job two days later. That was yesterday, and today we had heavy rains. I was so grateful that Fern and his team came out and fixed my problem. Fern is pleasant and easy to work with. I got great value for my money! I will be calling him again because he does all kinds of jobs. I will be calling him to install a ceilingfan. Thank you, Fern. You did a terrific job. I appreciate you and your team. I highly recommed Fern's Services!!! read more

I hired Fern to fix some cracked tiles in my patio that had broken due to a tree root lifting the concrete. Fern's pricing was very fair. He is licensed but his pricing was in line with other quotes I got from people who were not licensed. Additionally, he gave me options and did not pressure me to go with the more expensive one. Communication was great, the process to get a quote was easy and the work was completed in two days as promised. It looks great. I highly recommend Fern! read more

Fern's company just finished his third job for me this year. As always, everything was great. Fern is great to work with - he does amazing work and has great communication skills. He has re-done my entire patio (demolishing the old patio, pavers on the front and one side, and cement on the other side), and just finished replacing my fence. Everything looks amazing. My neighbors hired him as well to replace their fence. Fern's high-quality work really stands out. read more

We had issues with our sprinkler leaking even when the water wasn't on. Each time we had it "fixed" it soon began leaking again. Fortunately, our neighbor had Fern doing her landscaping (which looks great by the way!) and he agreed to come have a look at our system when he finished that job. Fern knew exactly what needed to be fixed and gave us an honest and fair quote. He was able to fix the broken valve, replace the unusable/old pieces, and installed a new wifi sprinkler system for us. **Note: Our old system was very temperamental so we thought this was a good opportunity to just have it replaced. Fern is great to work with! -- responsive to calls -- communicates well on what needs to be done -- friendly -- understands his craft We are planning to use Fern's services for landscaping at a future time! read more

We've hired Fern for two projects now, and are very happy with the results. The first project was to install a new irrigation drip system and DG in an area of our backyard. He also planted some plants we purchased around the permitter, and made sure that they were placed next to drips. The second project was a refresh of an atrium area, including removing and trimming some plants, removing several large overgrown birds-of-paradise trees, installing a drip irrigation line (and connecting to our smart irrigation system), and leveling soil and refreshing river rocks in the planters. We appreciate his flexibility and wide skillset. He will definitely be the first person we call for future landscaping projects. read more

Fern did an exceptional job on our DG and stepping stone installation. He sent an email proposal promptly after assessing the property, communicated throughout the project, and completed the work in a timely manner. He is meticulous and made sure that the pavers and DG were symmetrical. He went above and beyond to make sure that everything was executed as we envisioned. He and his crew also left the area spotless. We are looking forward to having Fern complete more projects on our property. Thanks for your excellent work Fern! read more

Just had my old BBQ Island with grill torn down and hauled away by Fern Alvarado who is owner of FERN'S Landscape & Constriction. He is very knowledgeable of his craft. Fern came out to do sort of an odd job for us in leveling out our lawn where it was sinking. He also added a few sprinklers for us. Highly recommended. He is always on time and did the quality job for my block wall. It was completed on time as promised.

Fern and his crew worked hard during the summer heat wave. They demolished a crumbling railroad tie retaining wall and build a block wall 80 ft total and also repaired and replaced the stairs up the back hillside with the same matching blocks. It's beautiful and very sturdy and solid. I saw how Fern spent a lot of time prepping since the solid base secures the wall. I thought he did a very thorough job and the results show. Love it! He also cleaned up an area full of rocks and old vines and installed DG, decomposed granite, and it's now clean and level. Fern worked closely with my requests and my budget, and although there were some small surprises (not his fault), he always consulted with me on how to proceed. He went beyond what I asked. After finishing, he and his crew cleaned up everything very nicely. read more

We were completely happy with the work Fern did for us. He showed up, on time, when he said he would. That right there is a plus. We had three contractors not even show up to give us an estimate. He was able to make us a priority because he wasn't working around multiple jobs. He was helpful when it came to suggestions and he never left before cleaning up the work area. He also gave us the best estimate. We would definitely recommend Fern. read more

I was very impressed with Fern. He was both professional and personable. A pleasure to work with, and I've asked him to put in a bid on a much larger set of projects i hope to do in the coming months. His price was VERY reasonable. I felt I got great value for my money. He arrived right on time. I appreciated that he wore a mask and was careful about distancing. I couldn't believe how quickly and expertly he did my project. He tore out a tree and some bushes for me and then expertly used layers of sand and gravel for drainage, tamped things down repeatedly and put in pavers at the EXACT level of my other patio tile. All in one day. He left my area cleaner than he found it! I highly recommend him read more

We hired Fern to remodeled/re-do the rear yard of a newly purchased home. The backyard was a mess and the wood fencing was falling apart due to wood and termite rot. From the 1st call to Fern, he was easily accessible by phone and text. We agreed on a plan and a fee. Fern was true to his word and started work within 3 days. He and his workers were on site every day and withing 3 weeks, he demo the yard, installed new fencing, installed a new concrete deck, raised planters, irrigation, plants and installed artificial grass.
