My husband and I wanted to remodel our small backyard as it was filled with mostly dirt and overgrown weeds. We did not have a concrete idea of what we wanted at first but Oscar was great with helping us plan by guiding us and asking about how we wanted to use our space. He also created documents to submit to our HOA for approval, and he was able to make changes quickly when needed. Victor and the crew were on time, efficient, and timely with the work. It was greatly appreciated that everything was washed down and cleaned by the crew at the end of each day. They were also able to make quick adjustments when our neighbor had some concerns with the hedges we wanted to plant. Disappointing Communication and Lack of Professionalism ​I reached out to this business based on a recommendation for a project on a property we are currently purchasing. Despite Yelp's "10-minute response" claim, I received no reply to my initial quote request. ​When I called the following day, the experience did not improve. The representative I spoke with seemed disinterested and lacked basic industry knowledge, specifically struggling to differentiate between a California room and a sunroom. Despite asking for extensive details about the project, they declined to meet during our inspection window and failed to follow up afterward as promised. ​If a company isn't interested in a project, I'd prefer transparency over unfulfilled promises to follow up. Overall good experience with Caliscapes OC! Oscar came out and thoroughly listened to what we wanted to do then gave us a detailed and competitive quote with pictures. Everything was digital so it was easy to accept the quote and pay for the services online. No additional fees for credit card payments either which was very nice. The work was completed within two days which was much faster than originally anticipated. Everything was very professionally done, the workspace was clean after each day and they even provided their own portapotty. Communication was and still continues to be a bit of an issue. We had asked for explicit watering instructions for each type of plant since there is a guarantee on each plant for a specific amount of time. It took a few days to long after the job was complete to actually receive the written instructions, something both parties agreed upon well before the job started. Additionally a few of the planted trees in the backyard are very unhealthy looking which we informed the team of right away, well within the guarantee period. It has now been almost three months after completion of the job and we still have not been able to make any progress on fixing or replacing the dead trees. We will occasionally receive a call or text back but it does not seem like the issue is being taken seriously which is unfortunate. Update AGAIN: I recently messaged Oscar regarding the current condition of our plants as they were showing signs of stress and we thought they were dying. At first I hesitated to message him being it has been years so I didn't expect to get any help as we are way past the plant shock warranty, but decided to after-all. Oscar immediately responded and set up a time to come out. We were so amazed at how much time he spent diagnosing our plants. We had the BEST experience with Oscar and Victor while repairing and redesigning our backyard. They are thoughtful, reliable, creative, and mindful of budget concerns. We had a huge sloping/receding yard to bring back up to level so we wanted to improve the entire backyard while we did that without spending a fortune. I wanted to spruce up and and add some curb appeal to the front of one of my rental properties. Without breaking my bank. I could not be happier with the outcome of the entire project!!! Oscar hit it out if the park in design and plant selection. All on my very tight budget. He had to work miracles and he did. He listed to my every concern and wanted to keep a simple look and work with the existing colors on the house, including the colors deep within the front brick masonry, without using the actual "brick" color. Deep inside there were some really cool purple. The window boxes were something that were very special for me. They honestly came out better than I could have even imagined. I am very appreciative of all you did to make these window boxes special, as well as the entire project really come to life. Victor and his crew did an amazing job from demolition to installation. Can't wait until spring when all really begins to grow in. Please note: Due to budget constraints, I did have them do any lawn work, only planters and window boxes. Oscar and Victor were wonderful to work with and we couldn't be happier with our new landscaping project.
