We wanted landscaping, hardscaping, irrigation and lighting to do a front yard make-over that complied with OC Water District's rebate requirements. We had to have drought-tolerant plants and a tree to replace an old olive that was a focal point of the yard. It all started with Oscar's love of plants and his ability to visualize a solution. Surprisingly, the design was much more lush than anticipated. The flowering plants and tree met our needs, provided beauty, a variety colors-textures and attracts humming birds, butterflies and bees. We were so impressed and happy with the job that Caliscapes did and can not recommend them enough! From the initial meetings and quick responses from Oscar, he worked hard to understand our design aesthetic and come up with the perfect plants, and design. Any questions we had he was so knowledgable and even accommodating to my unique request of integrating a vintage bathtub into the design. The crew was one of the cleanest, efficient and respectful trades that I've ever worked with. At the end of every day they would clean up and it would be cleaner than when they go there. Victor was great at making sure everything was perfect before going onto the next step and collaborating on a few design aspects while in process. The whole team was a pleasure to have around and you can tell they are passionate about what they do and are a great company to work for. My husband and I were a little sad to see them go as they had been here for a few months and unfortunately did the whole property so we shouldn't need to have them back. Every detail was so thoughtful and intentional, even down to the light choices and Victor knowing that the modern light would be the better option for our house. I feel other companies would have just thrown whatever one they normally do and call it a day. We did get a quote from another company, but it was similar price, but a very boring and basic design and didn't have the same enthusiasm for the project. Victor and Oscar really take pride in what they're doing and want it to be perfect. Now that the weather is nice, it's such an amazing space to relax in. We have gotten nothing from compliments, even having people stop to knock on the door and ask about it. As a way of passing time in the pandemic we spent a lot of time plant shopping. We got to know the team over at Seaside growers and they got to know the types plants we liked. When we asked for a recommendation of a designer, they didn't hesitate. "I've got a great guy for you." and they gave me Oscar's card. A quick email to Oscar, within hours we had our first meeting set up and week or two later Oscar showed up with a design that we loved. (We didn't change the existing hardscape) When they came back with the pricing, it was more than we wanted to spend. Oscar was undeterred. He changed his design around, decreased the size of plant, and worked with us to get the perfect design - One we loved and one we felt comfortable spending. At no point did we feel any pressure to spend more than we were comfortable spending. We signed the contract and set a project start date. Oscar Introduced us to Victor a couple of weeks before the job started and I liked him immediately. He is focus, direct, punctual, honest, fair and incredibly hard working. He had a team of between 3-5 each day for two weeks, and to a fault, all of them worked hard and fast, but never sacrificing quality and always paying attention to detail. Every day the work site was left spotless and every morning the team was back on the job working with focus. Oscar came by every day, at least once, and personally placed every single plant. My wife and I recently remodeled a home in Huntington Beach. When it came time to landscape the property, we sought a recommendation from Moon Valley Nurseries. They recommended Caliscapes. On a 1 to 10 scale they turned out to be a 15. Remodeling is tough. We had contractors that were horrible and some that were were awesome. Victor and Oscar were awesome plus. Before giving us a detailed and itemized quote, they came out a couple times to measure and remeasure so their quote would be accurate. Measure twice, cut once right? I was completely happy/satisfied with my experience with this company. I needed to get all the plants/trees removed from my backyard and wanted to hire someone that could help me figure out what should go in there (instead of just a mismash of plants, like there was currently), but also needed to keep the price into consideration. Landscape designers can be EXPENSIVE...but didn't want to hire just a gardener/company to put in plants with no real layout/plan. This company did both - they helped with a layout (drawn out), picked out plants that would work, and even had me meet them at the nursery to review the plants and make any changes I wanted. Then once approved, they installed them, including changing out the sprinkler system to a drip system. The end result was EXACTLY what I wanted...and was in the price range I could afford. I had gotten a few bids and they were more reasonable than 3, a bit more than 1, but overall for what they offered, did way more than the 1 that was a bit cheaper. I wanted to do a simple landscape improvement at my home to fulfill a HOA requirement. Caliscapes was able to give free estimates for multiple options. They didn't have a high minimum cost - which would effectively eliminate the project but they gave a reasonable price. Also Caliscapes was able to provide a plan drawn to scale. You might think that's something that should definitely be provided but some other contractors might not be willing to do so or might want to charge an unreasonable amount for it. In any case, I submitted the plan to the HOA, it was approved and Caliscapes came to do the work on a date that we agreed on. So far the implementation looks ok. In addition I wanted to do some adjustments afterwards and Caliscapes was able to do that as well. read more

The price quoted was competitive and they were able to complete the job the following week. We absolutely love our new front yard! And honestly, garden walks have become a new ritual every morning :) Victor, Oscar and team did a wonderful job and were such a pleasure to work with.
