Hello neighbors - after rebuilding our patio and having to tear down the brick pillars surrounding the old patio posts (also damaging the walls themselves), we hired Jody to repair / rebuild it. It's a short (5 stack), "L" shaped brick wall on two edges of our patio slab. He was able to obtain new brick that nearly perfectly matches the 25+ existing brick, and then was able to beautifully tie the new pillars into the walls that remained. He also repaired two planters, several other loose bricks, and drilled out and replaced 5 cut-off 4x4 posts in our front brick courtyard and filled them in with a matching piece of brick. Jody's work is beautiful, pricing was reasonable, and he left my yard as clean as he found it. Jody and his helper just completed a job for me this morning. It was a small job for him, but he did a great job. I needed a portion of my driveway poured after having it jackhammered due to a plumbing problem. He replicated the prior driveway and I'm relieved to have it completed. He gets the 5-stars because another contractor did a terrible job pouring a small patio in the back. Jody cleaned up that work. The contractor let the material leak under the forms and I had 2 inches of uneven concrete at the base of my patio all the way around. It looked terrible. Jody grabbed a hammer and chisel and cleaned it up...while waiting for the concrete to settle on the driveway. He didn't have to do it...he offered and I couldn't be more grateful. We identified Jody on Yelp and we recently hired him to build a small block wall raised garden planter. We have two issues with the build: 1. Most importantly, the back block wall of the planter is shorter than the front block wall and is also shorter than ground/patio level. This is an issue because the concrete footing on the back block wall now sticks up higher than the ground/patio level. Thus, we cannot finish the back block wall all the way down to the ground/patio level properly. Jody said this was because the ground was on a slope. However, there is no slope here. See attached photo -- the Yellow level in the back of the planter in the photo is at ground/patio level -- it is clear that the back block wall is about two inches short of extending down as far as it should (the back block wall should actually extend down slightly below ground/patio level just the like front wall does). I suspect he simply did not want to spend the time to clear the ground properly for the footing. If he had just said this was going to be an issue for him, I would have gladly done this myself before he arrived. 2. Even though Jody knew this was a garden planter and so will have water in it for the plants, he did not mortar all of the block joints. These will now need to be properly mortared when we finish the walls with a brown coat and then stucco. When I contacted Jody about my concern regarding the back wall after the job was complete, he started yelling at me and told me that I didn't understand. We have been an active user of contractors for projects and we do actually understand as this is not that complicated. This job was rushed and poorly executed. I do not recommend using Jody. read more

My bf's HOA was requiring him to replace his driveway and that started us on our search for a contractor. Finding a reliable construction company that charges a reasonable price is seriously like finding a needle in a haystack. Before finding Jody, we had actually hired another company that was just the worst. They were bad at communicating, kept exhibiting shady behavior (raised the price twice just in the quotation stage), and didn't seem to care about our business until we replaced them with Jody. Then they had the nerve to say they should get the job since they gave us a quote first and were helpful with recommendations. Jody was the complete opposite from that company. From the start, he was super communicative. Getting a quote was super easy. All we did was email him pics and tell him the square footage of the driveway. He promptly emailed us back with a quote. Everything was clear cut and after giving us the quote, he told us the price wouldn't change. I have never heard of any construction companies giving that type of guarantee. We set a timeframe of when he would be able to start and he actually was able to start the job a few days earlier than scheduled. On the day of the job, he came super early at around 6 am, as he said he would. He showed up every single day on time and monitored everything that was going on. He made great recommendations and never tried to sell on anything like many other places would. I highly, highly recommend him. read more

I was looking for someone to fix my front porch and found Jody on next door, I did not hold out much hope as I had already had 4 various contractors using different means of materials (including cement) look at my porch and tell me it would be impossible without removing existing cement, and more then likely it would crack my texture coating, which was less then 3 years old. Mostly I was mad at myself for not addressing this problem before the texture coating. I had 3 very low spots where the water was draining toward the house, as well as a very small lip up that had been way since the house was built, causing numerous people to trip including myself! I reached out to Jody to get a quote to rebuild the top of my chimney. I thought it was ready to fall apart. I sent him photos and he quoted me $2950. I got a few other quotes and one company came out and looked at it for about 2 minutes and came off the roof and said they would squirt some adhesive in the cracks and repair the crown for $450. another company I called said they would look at it, and a truck from the same company that looked at it the first time came out, and they said they are partners with the other company. They seemed a little sketchy to me, and the price seemed too low. I called Jody and told him what I was looking at, and he offered to come and look at it. After looking at it in person he said the structure was solid, there was rebar holding things together, and he could fix it without rebuilding the whole thing. Someone had previously made a repair where they put some white epoxy or something in some of the cracks that looked terrible. He said what he was going to do was grind out all the loose grout, scrap and grind off all the white epoxy, and re-grout all the bricks for $750. It was more than the other guys, but they didn't mention anything about cleaning the whole thing up and making it look great. I can't really see the top of the chimney, so my expectations were not that high, but I really liked Jody's energy to do it right. Wow, I have to say, I was really happy with his work. I hope I need another masonry repair so I can hire him. I won't say how old he is, but he should be retired and enjoying life, but I think he loves fixing stuff. I get it, I'm kinda the same way. I've attached before and after photos. I'm sure the "fresh scars" where the white epoxy was scraped and ground off will weather in and look like the rest of the bricks after a year or two. I like how he filled in all the grout too. Thanks Jody. Looks better than I expected. Oh, and if you are wondering why you should fix cracks in a chimney, check out some youtube videos on how a chimney structure is and what water does to it...not to mention earthquakes.
