My initial plan was to repair the area but soon became clear that aesthetically, it would not be the right decision. So I reached out to several businesses via Yelp. The first company that came to my home was Dave Pratt Designs. It's a family business, Dave is the dad and his kids are in college and are EXTREMELY involved in the business as well. They were the ones that initially came to my home. They showed up on time, dressed professionally and were extremely knowledgeable. They set the bar EXTREMELY high as most other companies were not as professional and I did not feel comfortable with their presentation. Also, the price point was more than fair with Dave Pratt. Once my HOA approved the drawings they provided, we scheduled a mutually convenient time for the install. There was a crew of 5-6 people at my home for 2-3 days working in 90 degree heat from 8:00am - 6:00pm non stop. They were incredibly professional and the quality of work EXCEEDED my expectations. I cannot recommend this business enough. Just absolutely fantastic in every aspect and every way imaginable. Much appreciated Dave, Andrew, Matthew, and the crew.

Victor and his crew worked quickly and efficiently. When the job was complete, everything looked and worked great. Upon completion of everything, I received an email from Anthony providing me with the irrigation schedule and aftercare instructions. This company was very easy to work with. Anthony, Victor and the others were very diligent and friendly. I highly recommend this company for your landscape needs.

Complete scam, absurd prices, and terrible communication!…read more STAY FAR AWAY FROM GROWSCAPES. A BUNCH OF CROOKS. Do not waste your time with this company. They will only waste yours and try to rip you off in the process. The guy who came out to my house tried to make the installation seem super complicated, like it was some massive technical job. In reality, the Rain Bird controller only costs about $230 to buy, and the installation takes maybe 20 minutes to do yourself! Yet I received an outrageously inflated estimate of $1,390 total, with $1,195 allocated just for that controller installation. On top of that, they slipped in a $195 charge for an irrigation audit that they originally quoted me $150 for in person. When I sent a reasonable email simply asking for an itemized breakdown of the materials and labor, as well as questioning the surprise price markup on the audit, I got zero answer. Complete ghosting. Zero customer service, zero transparency, and absolute radio silence when called out on their shady pricing. Save yourself the headache, money, and time. Look elsewhere or do it yourself. These people are price gouging scammers.

They were very competitive on pricing as we got several quotes. Oscar was very easy to work with as we described our needs and he came up with great designs that took very little adjustments to get exactly what we had envisioned. Oscar took us to several nurseries to select plants that would compliment the project. Victor took care of the demo and construction side of the project and was he amazing! The crew shows up on time and the site is thoroughly cleaned up each day. Communication was awesome, if we had any questions about products or how things were being laid out Victor answered them right away. As the project went along if Victor thought something might look better a certain way he would ask us what we thought before proceeding. Victor's crew were very courteous and professional at all times! When the project was completed we received a plant care and maintenance list that was very detailed allowing us to take proper care of the plants. We highly recommend Caliscapes OC. You rarely see a company that is so attentive and caring about their end results in today's world! Quality craftsmanship! Oscar and Victor run a very professional business and it shows! He also created documents to submit to our HOA for approval, and he was able to make changes quickly when needed. Victor and the crew were on time, efficient, and timely with the work. It was greatly appreciated that everything was washed down and cleaned by the crew at the end of each day. They were also able to make quick adjustments when our neighbor had some concerns with the hedges we wanted to plant. The scope of the work included adding a concrete pad, extending our concrete patio, planting privacy hedges with drainage and auto watering system, installing artificial grass with paver walkways, and adding pebbles along the exterior wall of our house. Since we have a soft watering system, we also had them install a separate line from the main. Overall, Caliscapes OC was professional, friendly, and accommodating. We even had one of the hedge plants not doing well. We reached out to Caliscapes OC to advise us on how to revive it, and they said they would replace it. We had a good experience and would recommend!

To be honest, it really restored my faith in landscaping contractors. I submitted an online request for a quote and the next day Mike emailed me requesting pictures of what our project wanted to include. Originally we just wanted to pull out our front yard plants and redo just the front but there is a $5000 project minimum. After deciding to redo our turf and also include our backyard, Mike came out the next week for a free in person consultation and got me a detailed quote within 2 days. The turnaround time for everything was just amazing, I've never seen anything like it. Our lot is about 3615 sq ft to give a reference point. Our project included: all the labor to demolish/uproot all of our plants including a very large 20 year old tree in the backyard + all the roots (completed in 2-3 days), redid our front and backyard turf (completed in 2 days by Backyard Golf Company), added a veneer stone and cap on our retaining wall (1 week) and replanted all our plants/installed a drip sprinkler system/installed lighting front and backyard (1 week). We have an HOA and Mike had a complete detailed plan and diagram ready for us within 3-5 days. Once HOA got back to us, the project was started within a week and finished in the estimated time frame. Workers came promptly at 8 AM and they were actively working all day not just sitting around. Very respectful, even blowing all the dust at the end of the day to keep the area clean, no garbage left anywhere. The entire project was $30,000 and there weren't any surprise or unexpected costs. Invoices are sent every week on a reasonable schedule and I just loved our experience. I'd recommend Seabreeze to anyone wanting to do their hardscape landscaping in a heartbeat!

Recently, Felipe reimagined our entire front yard landscape, and transformed it into a true work of art. All new ground cover, drought tolerant/resistant plants, block wall extension, some additional lighting, and new (realistic) synthetic grass. No more sprinklers as all plants are now watered via "drip irrigation. Truly a work of art by Felipe, whose creativity and imagination has no limits. As we currently live in the age of AI fact checking, I did verify the points and he was indeed honest and helpful :) On the day of appointment, Anthony and team showed up around the time scheduled and got the work done quickly and cleanly. For the 2nd visit in March 2026, unfortunately the company did not meet the same standard. We communicated via the same number, so they were aware of that we were interested in the same work as before last year (weed removing, trimming of tree shrub) This time, a different employee (H.H.), performed the work. He trimmed the trees and shrubs a bit more quickly than Francisco did, which was not an issue in itself. However, he didn't remove the overgrown roots, but rather just trimmed them, which caused the plants to grow back much faster than before. He also didn't apply any weed killer. After we paid via Zelle, we noticed that our 24-hr security sign had been snapped in half and left on the same spot it was planted. No shrubs were around that area. The employee didn't mention to us at all, but when we asked him what happened, he initially said he didn't know. Only after we saw pictures showing that the sign was intact, he apologized. Additionally, another blue security sign next to our AT&T fiber box was missing. The sign had been in place for months and was clearly visible from the driveway since the shrubs didn't fully cover it. The worker claimed he never saw it. We understand accidents can happen, but the lack of communication and transparency is unfortunate. We are likely moving on to another company.

Steve and his crew are regular people that treat others with kindness and respect not because they have to, but because that's who they are. They fixed a leaky pipe in my backyard without having to pull up my pavers and then they fixed a pipe in my front planter that solved low pressure on my drip lines. No fuss, no extra charges or unnecessary parts and labor. Steve's team obviously have deep knowledge and experience but what makes them so great is that they communicate clearly and are enjoyable to work with. Highly recommend them.

Sincerely, I cannot say enough about Pacific Pavers and Jeff's performance. As a home flipper with over 250 properties sold, we interface with contractors frequently. I will NEVER contact another hardscape specialist again. Jeff's crew was professional, conscientious of neighbors and always showed up on time. While these mentions would seem expected, it is certainly not the norm. Again, we were just blown away by the execution and results. Jeff drove across the county each day to ensure each daily milestone was accomplished. If your experience with Pacific Pavers was or turned any different, frankly, I would not believe you. Jeff would not let that happen. Period. He is just one of those guys you enjoy referring to your friends and family. We recently got our patio done around our pool area and it made our backyard look like a DisneyLand Resort. But really it looks so much nicer. The Pacific Paver crew came out wrote us our estimate for our patio which was significantly lower than the other local masonry and paving companies. When it came time for the construction they came on time and worked the whole time, you never saw people just sitting idle like you do very often. What was the best is how clean they are. We are so happy with pacific pavers. We didn't know where to go in regards to artificial grass. We were tired of watering our grass and treating the dead spots. But now with our artificial grass we don't have to fight that battle anymore. We get compliments all the time and people are always asking where we got it done. I got estimates from 3 paver contractors and Pacific Pavers was not the cheapest but they are the best. They were here every morning around 8 am and worked until 4-5 pm. Sam came by twice a day to answer questions and give me a progress report. My patio looks great and the walkways all around the house are perfect. Great Job! read more

Ours is one of the oldest houses on the block, my grandfather built it himself in the early seventies so needless to say there is sentimental value here, the years were told loudly in its dated facade ever more blindly as one by one and year by year the houses around us became more modern and desirable and that contrast was ever more noticeable when it became every other house on the block. Before this project, our front yard was little more than a narrow, uninspired strip adjacent to the public sidewalk that functioned more like spillover from the street than usable property. It did nothing to reflect the scale or architectural presence of our three-story, beach-adjacent home. Today, that same footprint operates as a private, structured courtyard -- a defined outdoor living space that feels intentional, modern, and architecturally integrated. The Techo-Bloc paver installation is executed with geometric discipline and clean proportional balance. The contrasting border trim sharpens the layout, and the modular patterning reads refined rather than repetitive. Where water once pooled visibly, the drainage now performs efficiently and invisibly -- The upgraded water line alone was transformative. What used to produce barely a trickle now delivers pressure so strong it rivals commercial output .The underground drip irrigation system is intelligently concealed beneath the hardscape and reemerges precisely within the base of our large entry planters. It is automated, timer-controlled, and calibrated for plant health without visual clutter. For us gardening is a foreign labor, the system removes guesswork and replaces it with precision. It lays the groundwork for what will be Madagascar jasmine and Rainbow's End climbing roses to ascend the custom trellis Speaking of the trellis -- it is a custom design by Byron himself and serves as the architectural anchor of the entire entry sequence. After going through the process ourselves, I can absolutely see why they spoke so highly of the company. From the beginning, Byron made the design and estimating process feel very clear and professional. One thing I really appreciated was that he used an iPad on-site to draw out the design, calculate measurements, and price everything very accurately. It was not a vague "ballpark estimate" type of process -- it felt transparent, exact, and easy to visualize, which gave us a lot of confidence moving forward. Byron also helped us finalize the color choices, especially for the walkway, and his suggestions made a big difference in the final look. Roberto, who supervised the on-site construction work, was also excellent. He really listened to my concerns, took the time to discuss details with me, and most importantly followed through in the actual work without any issues. That meant a lot to me because I care about both design and functionality, and he handled both very well. Casandra in the office and Oscar as the business manager were also great throughout the process. They were organized, responsive, and helped keep everything coordinated smoothly, which made the whole experience much less stressful. What stood out most about Hillside Pavers overall was that they listened to our preferences and worked with us instead of pushing a one-size-fits-all solution. The workmanship, communication, and attention to detail were all strong, and the finished project truly transformed the property. During the project and especially after completion, we received numerous compliments from neighbors and friends, which really confirmed for us how well everything came together. To be honest, it really restored my faith in landscaping contractors. I submitted an online request for a quote and the next day Mike emailed me requesting pictures of what our project wanted to include. Originally we just wanted to pull out our front yard plants and redo just the front but there is a $5000 project minimum. After deciding to redo our turf and also include our backyard, Mike came out the next week for a free in person consultation and got me a detailed quote within 2 days. The turnaround time for everything was just amazing, I've never seen anything like it. Our lot is about 3615 sq ft to give a reference point. Our project included: all the labor to demolish/uproot all of our plants including a very large 20 year old tree in the backyard + all the roots (completed in 2-3 days), redid our front and backyard turf (completed in 2 days by Backyard Golf Company), added a veneer stone and cap on our retaining wall (1 week) and replanted all our plants/installed a drip sprinkler system/installed lighting front and backyard (1 week). We have an HOA and Mike had a complete detailed plan and diagram ready for us within 3-5 days. Once HOA got back to us, the project was started within a week and finished in the estimated time frame. Workers came promptly at 8 AM and they were actively working all day not just sitting around. Very respectful, even blowing all the dust at the end of the day to keep the area clean, no garbage left anywhere. The entire project was $30,000 and there weren't any surprise or unexpected costs. Invoices are sent every week on a reasonable schedule and I just loved our experience. I'd recommend Seabreeze to anyone wanting to do their hardscape landscaping in a heartbeat!

To salvage the opportunity, the salesperson, Chris, texted me and offered to come the following day at noon instead, along with a 5% discount for the inconvenience. I rearranged my schedule twice to accommodate them during what was already an exceptionally difficult time, as I was preparing to say goodbye to my 16-year-old dog that weekend. Chris did arrive on Friday as promised, but a week has now passed and I have received neither a bid nor any follow-up communication from anyone at the company. Shortly after the appointment, their Thumbtack profile was also removed or hidden. While I can't say why, the timing was odd, as it prevented me from leaving a review on the platform where we originally connected. I've uploaded screenshots with this review documenting the interaction, including Chris's last-minute cancellation, his offer of a 5% discount, and the Thumbtack notification showing the company was no longer available on the platform. If reliability, communication, and follow-through are important to you, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Our back yard is incredible now. The crew started when they said they would, and those guys worked super hard. I was amazed at the progress they made each day. The pavers went in very fast. The side yard drainage issue I had is no more! That alone was worth a lot to me. The only hang up was the patio cover. We had to get a permit, and the city took forever because of limited appointments due to COVID. Carlos did his best to keep things moving along. It also took some time to get the materials. I think the price was reasonable for all the work that was done. Carlos checked in regularly, and made sure the job was progressing. Everyone on the crew was very nice when I went out to check on progress. We are very satisfied. I will not hesitate to recommend or use West Hills again in the future.

I would not recommend this company. Their lack of attention to detail made the entire experience…read moreunpleasant. The drainage tube was installed with the slope going the wrong direction, and the walls were not properly covered before the concrete was poured, leaving concrete splatter all over the side walls. The concrete also cracked less than three days after it was poured. It was poured on Monday morning, and on Wednesday the artificial turf guy was using a large plate compactor right next to the two-day-old concrete. I believe the vibration from that equipment contributed to the cracking. When I spoke with JC about the issue, he told me that concrete will crack sooner or later and that is why they do not warranty cracks. Concrete was poured directly on top of the soil, no gravel was brought first. While I understand that concrete can crack over time, I did not expect it to crack before I had even made my final payment. Despite my disappointment, I paid the remaining balance. After that, I never received any follow-up confirmation that the payment was received , or even a simple thank you.
