For a professional contractor to not have addressed access to the property previous to showing up, probably should've been considered. Some ownership by the ownership would've been great... and then to hang up and scream at your customers probably not the best thing, especially after calling 30 minutes after the video was reviewed that they were on property, full story helps. After Ray and his crew did a great job replacing all of our backyard concrete and doing cement and brick wall work in the front, we were ready to start landscaping in the back. Brandon of Seaway Electric is doing our lighting and noticed that part of our cinderblock wall on the east side had come loose from the post and was unstable. We all felt it needed to be fixed. After receiving the green light from our neighbor, Ray came out and took a look and we scheduled for his crew to come out and replace that section. Ray, Miguel, and Miguel's two crew members came out, starting at 7 am as promised (Ray and one of the workers was out front at 6:30 am). They got right to work and finished up around 1:30 pm. I have never seen anything quite like it. They blew through work I was quoted 2-3 months in 2-3 days! All within the same price point and actually even cheaper than some companies. They did a great job and definitely something I wouldn't want to ever do personally. It is hard work that takes a lot of skill and patience to do right with stone. During the project they even asked multiple times about situations. Did we want them to work around a drain or did we want them to chisel the stone to match the other pre-existing stone? They also were experienced enough to know about our Koi pond and advised us to make a tarp around it to avoid dust from killing the fish. We did and happy to say we didn't lose a single Koi! Had an issue with pipe breaking under the pad and they took care of it immediately without any issues. A company can always be judged by its follow up and I am happy to report they do seem to care about the job after the fact. Very easy to work with and I could always get a hold of someone. We were referred to Coastline Masonry by a local contractor who spoke highly of the company, stating many of his own clients used Coastline for backyard remodels and similar. I reached out to Coastline and was able to schedule a meeting with the owner, Bill, a few days later. We had some ideas and Bill added some of his own. In less than half an hour he sketched out the plan and provided us with an estimated cost. He indicated he had a few other projects but would likely be able to start in less than a month. He was ready a couple of weeks later. A few days prior to the start of the project, Bill met us at our property to confirm the layout of the new brick patio and adjacent natural gas fire pit. He used a spray can to paint the future construction right on our lawn, adjusting until we all agreed it looked great. Bill then ordered the utilities to confirm there is no gas line underneath the construction area. They showed up a couple of days later to confirm all and construction started a couple of days after that. Team Coastline normally starts at about 7AM, but they were willing to delay their start to 7:30 out of sensitivity to our neighbors. The team was always super professional, worked hard all day, and cleaned up at the end of each day as if the project was complete. Very professional! Periodically, Bill would stop by to confirm all was going according to plan. Less than a week later the entire backyard looked great. Bill did a final walk through to confirm everything was completed to our satisfaction, which it was. He provided a few pointers re keeping the bricks & firepit in great shape for the decades to come. He asked his team to leave a dozen extra bricks just in case future repair was needed. This way we'd have an exact color match. We've had numerous construction and remodel type projects over the past 30+ years. Bill and his team differentiated themselves by under promising and over delivering in all aspects, including timing, flexibility, and even cost - Bill threw in some brick repair work needed on our front porch without charge. I emailed plans together with permission to enter the property due to the fact it is down to frame and easily accessible. This was also discussed over the phone. Waited for 2 weeks - no emails; no phone calls. Called the office - Allie said- will call me back with information when the estimated will be sent. Two days later - no calls or emails again. Calling them again - Allie is asking me if someone went out to the property? She doesn't even know if anyone went out. 3 weeks wasted to nothing! We had our front yard and porch redone by Coastline a few years ago, and now that we were ready to do some work in our backyard there was no question as to who we would call. Once again, I am beyond pleased with the entire process from the initial bid through the completion of the project. Ray came out to give us a bid and was polite, professional, and extremely helpful with the many questions I had. In addition, he remembered our front yard project and talked about many of the details from that project....which made me feel appreciated as a return customer. He did not simply state that he knew they had done the front yard, but he talked about the details and remembered small details and changes that we had made during the project. This project got started even before the timeframe I was given, the crew, once again, was punctual, extremely respectful and polite, and all experts in their field. We contracted the Coastline team to do repair and modification work on a ~900 ft^2 red brick patio and could not be happier with the outcome. This is not a review on work. I can only speak to the attempt at scheduling. I started my inquiry via Yelp and got replies within a fair amount of time followed up by a phone call. During the call I was told the girl was leaving in about 30min however someone would for sure call me back by EOB to figure out appointment day/time, we were shooting for a Saturday best case, but she needed to confirm with scheduler. Simply put nobody ever reached back out 3 days later upon posting review. I am local to this company maybe less than 18miles North and was looking for a 50ft block wall. I see a reply which is FACTUALLY inaccurate. As stated the girl in office said a call would be returned "for sure today" and that never happened. Please do not post LIES! You never again attempted to contact me to setup any type of appointment. Read other reviews with same issue from this companies poor communication. read more

Found Coastline on Yelp cross referenced Angie's List. Owner Bill is straight forward and his crew does good work having a lot of experience. I got 6 quotes and his was on the lower end. Appreciated Raymond trying to get a permit but the City of LA wouldn't issue (silly rule about 2 front yards). Then I tried and was finally able to get permit after 2 months of jumping through hoops with both City of LA and DWP. Once work started the masonry was finished quickly. Inspections and tenant issues were dealt with professionally by Coastline. One of the inspectors was a manager and told me the work was well done by professionals as he sees a lot of shoddy work in the field. I needed to stay on top of communicating with Bill, Raymond and his office but always got my questions answered to satisfaction. The owner came out and did the quote with us, answered all of our questions and was very straight forward. No sales pitch and didn't try to up sell us on anything. He listened to what we wanted and guided us in the right direction. He met up with us another day and spent almost an hour with us helping pick out the perfect stone and explaining the difference in all the choices that were available. Once the work started the workers were on time every day (3 days total) and kept everything clean and organized while they were working and made sure to leave things as neat as possible during the time they were working. We were told the job was going to be done in 3 days and it was which is amazing to me after all the construction we have done on our house. We needed to do some brick repairs under our bay window and two planters. I first had Bill out in August to give me an estimate. I didn't even waste my time talking to other people. We hired Coastline Masonry to demo existing planters and all concrete walkways around pool and deck. They then poured new color stamped concrete and built three separate stone planters and a BBQ pit. Bill was professional from first contact all the way to the completion of the project. At the time of the estimate, he providing a list of local property references, which we spent a day going around and checking out. Once the project started, Bill met with us at his suppliers warehouse and assisted in picking out matching stone and brick. His workers showed up on time and got the demo done quick, in about two days. The construction commenced soon after and was done in a timely fashion. To date, everything looks good aside from a few cracks which are inevitable in a project of this size. He worked with us on pricing and had the most competitive bid. He also provides good input on yard ideas and does landscaping and irrigation as well. His knowledge can save you a few hundred dollars on hiring a landscape architect.
