I had spoken with 3+ contractors who all said the entire wall would need to be rebuilt, and gave me double digit estimates to do the work. A friend engineer-construction person took a look and said the rest of the retaining wall was fine. I then consulted Angi's list for masonry business's willing to do smaller repair jobs. Called a couple and they visited. WCD Masonry gave the best bid. William has good communication skills. He was able to understand the problem and quickly formulated a plan to fix it. There were also gardeners involved, and he was able to coordinate with their timeline. He stayed true to his word. He was also flexible in making adjustments per the relevant neighbor's desires. He and his right-hand man, Manny know their masonry. They were highly efficient in; evaluation; accommodating the inconvenienced neighbor; demolition of damaged wall; purchasing appropriate replacement materials; putting everything together and finishing it all up with a beautiful matching paint job that caused me to say "It looks like it's been there for years. That's a beautiful wall!" They also patched up an adjacent damaged wall without mention or extra charge. Didn't see it tell later the night of their project's completion. They were focused on repairing a 'breakdown problem', and kept with that priority. William is an artist. This is an excellent company. If you like intelligent, qualified, able, efficiency, with good stable priority's, this is the place to go. This positive experience changes my attitude about hiring help. If I thought up some other needed masonry projects, I would want them to do the work. Side note; also, they are very likable people.

He came to my house for the scheduled consultation and gave me the best price. After seeing my lawn, I asked if he could fix my sprinkler and lay out landscape fabric and mulch to prevent weeds and maintenance. He said he would measure what I need once he finishes the lawn cleanup, which I liked. The day came, and he cut my grass and cleaned up the weeds in my lawn. He also capped a broken irrigation line I had from the previous owner of the house without any issues and installed the new sprinkler I had mentioned. He measured my lawn and gave me the price for the mulch with a landscape barrier. I agreed, and he went to Home Depot to pick up the materials in his truck. When he came back, he laid down the barrier and mulch to perfection. He also went the extra mile by removing the sprinkler heads that aren't needed anymore, which I appreciate about him. All in all, Tony is the man for the job. He's easy to communicate with, and he works hard. I will recommend him to my neighbor, who is looking for a new gardener, and will hire him again for my next lawn project. Thanks, Tony!

We recently had a complete front and back yard makeover done by Campos Landscaping, and we couldn't be happier with the results! From the beginning, they worked with us to design a space that fit our vision and our home perfectly. In the front yard, they removed and completely redid our concrete walkways and front porch. The new layout is updated and fits the historic look of our Craftsman-style home beautifully. The fresh plants and new drainage system have completely transformed the space, and the added lighting along the driveway looks amazing at night. The backyard was a big project--starting from a dirt lot--and now it's our favorite space in the house. They installed a new concrete patio, a gorgeous redwood and canvas patio cover (which is adjustable!), and a concrete pad for our shed. The new white vinyl privacy fence looks fantastic along the back, and they planted privacy trees that complete the look. They also added lighting along the trees, creating a beautiful, illuminated backdrop. The backyard porch was also painted, making everything feel fresh and cohesive. The side yard got a facelift as well with a new white vinyl fence and gate, plus gravel so we now have a place to park our trash cans. If we ever had a concern or needed any tweaks, they addressed it right away. The entire process was smooth, and they went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right. The final result is exactly what we were hoping for: a clean, updated, and functional yard that complements the historic charm of our Craftsman home. I highly recommend Campos Landscaping both for their landscape design and monthly gardening maintenance. Jose and his father, Gorgonio Campos have been my landscapers/gardeners for the past 3 years both at my house and a rental house of mine. I am very pleased with their expertise, professionalism, and genuine concern for my home's landscaping. The first job I hired Jose Campos to complete was at my rental unit, a small California bungalow. Jose and his crew did an excellent job demo-ing the old and worn out landscaping and replaced it with a beautiful mix of bamboo, mondo grass, a japanese maple, and fluffy white flowers. The combination of plants accented the architecture of the home perfectly! He went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy. He even repaired a wooden fence and moved some stone when I asked him to. Since then Jose has been my gardener as well. He is an excellent communicator and very professional. When the grass is dry, he makes sure to adjust the sprinklers. He also seeds my front lawn in the winter when my grass goes dormant. It's a beautiful shade of bright green all year long. We were introduced to Campos Landscaping through a neighbor. Jose and his crew did a complete landscaping job in our front and back yards. They removed all the grass. In the front, he designed a beautiful natural-looking dry riverbed surrounded by California native plants. In the back, he installed pavers and artificial grass, as well as plants and trees. We were very pleased with the way it turned out. We have gotten so many compliments on the work. Jose was very easy to work with. He brought his own ideas into the project but was very open to ours and incorporated things we wanted. He paid attention to detail, used high quality products and just did an overall great job. I hired Campos Landscaping to finish my corner lot landscaping and I feel they are very competitively priced. I had already completed the hardscape and irrigation, however Jose recommended moving several sprinklers to ensure adequate coverage. Jose also recommended the plants and their placement. the results were excellent and our yard continues to receive compliments from the neighborhood. We did have a couple of shrubs die three weeks after planting. I let them know and they came by two days later and replaced them free of charge. I have been using Campos Landscaping for 15 years and they have provided excellent service in all that time. It is a family owned business and they are very reliable. I have had them take care of my lawn for all that time and they have kept things looking great. They go above and beyond normal lawn maintenance by doing some fertilizing and spraying for weeds. They take pride in the work they do. I have also used Campos Landscaping to to various other jobs over the years like take out huge trees (including the stump), plan and install a sprinkler system and they did some nice sotne and stucco work. The price is reasonable. Other places don't do as much. The other lawn care I was getting charged $110.00 a month for basically mowing the lawn, but for $20.00 more I get alot more service. They take care of flower beds, weeding, mowing, checking sprinklers and sprinkler system, and work on my lawn once a week instead of only twice a month like I was getting. Here are all the things that have gone wrong: I discovered the hardware they used for my lighting and my sprinkler were the base models, despite paying top doller. The owner lied on google maps claiming they put in a higher system. I posted pictures of the base models. No reply. I had to buy after market not so great adapters to get smart access to my lights and sprinklers. They put a chip in my pony wall while installing (years ago) and promised to come back to fix it. They never did. I recently found out from a neighbor who sees a part of my yard I normally don't that I have a sprinkler that is just pouring onto the walkway. That was a few days ago and I haven't had time to look at it. A good company would come out and fix it for me. Given how they haven't fixed anything else yet, I'll have to fix this myself or pay a reputable company to take a look. Half of my lights don't work. Again, I have zero hope that they will repair the lights. I had to replace nearly every plant they chose because it either didn't match my plans or because they weren't suited to the climate here and didn't survive (lest you blame me, every plant I chose to replace it with is thriving. How do you choose plants that can't survive in a region where everything survives?) The owner said on my google review that he had tried to reach me "several times" and I told him not to call.... I have been begging for them to make these things right for years.. I have had no calls. I figured out he was probably calling the wrong number and the person kept telling them that and finally said to stop calling. I sure as hell didn't say it. I would still like them to come fix the pony wall, the lighting, and the sprinklers, and make it right that I paid thousands for plants that had to be replaced within a year. Instead, they are resting on their mostly high reviews figuring mine will get buried and no one will care. Which is why I'm on yelp now as well as google. Here's what you can learn from the reviews. When things go right, MC is great. I do love the layout they created and the work by the actual workers. They were diligent and hard working. The price was high but fair given the amount of curved pavers I had in the plans, it seemed reasonable. (This is assuming there weren't so many problems.) But if you have an issue with them, good luck. Years of me leaving voicemails and reaching out to no avail. They knew about the pony wall before they even finished the project. There is ZERO excuse for not fixing that before they were done. Now years later, any work won't match well. I'm just livid at this company. 75 grand and this is how I've been treated. Unreal.

They quoted us $450 for the repair, which entailed cutting off our sprinkler where it was rusted galvanized steel and replacing it with PVC pipe. This in turn ended up re routing our system, rending a large chunk of our sprinkler system useless, due to the steel not being able to be connected to the original system unless we wanted to pay for more repairs. We were quoted around the same (around $500) to connect our sprinkler system again so it would work, on top of the original repair, in which we did not move forward. At first, I was fine with a quote of $450 assuming it was going to be a complicated repair with fancy parts but when I saw the work that was done, it changed my mind. Total labor time was maybe 30 minutes and it was simply digging up where the sprinkler was broken and rerouting the pipe with about $15 worth of PVC and that was it. The gentlemen who came out were kind and helpful so I don't like to leave bad reviews however I feel like we were totally ripped off and charged way more than appropriate to the point where I feel extremely silly I didn't call around to other places and feel like we got played. And now we have a system that does not work. I would highly suggest you call around before going with these guys.

I would love to give this company a better review and am happy to edit it if things change…read more So let me tell you the reason for the 2 star review and why it may be so different then the norm. I hired De'Guerrero Design in late October to do a front year makeover. What was requried in the makeover is as follows: 1. taking out a lot of dirt, some big rocks, and some dead plants from our front yard. 2. prepare the ground and put pavers along with rocks in 2 area, and in the third area (largest) put in artificial turf. 3. build a fence with a gate (3 foot tall) made of metal supports and wood slats. 4. Putting in a larger gate to replace one we already had to match the new fence going in. (what I thought was part of the project but ended up not part of it... see later notes on this) I also made it very clear when in conversation with them and other competitors that everything needs to be 100% done and fixed by Thanksgiving as we are having a large gathering at our place and we wanted it to look great by that time. They agreed to this and said it would be no problem to have everything done and good before then. First day they said they were going to start they showed up at around 3 pm and were there for a few hours before finishing. This isn't a bad thing, just a note. As long as things finish when they say the are going to, all is good. Things proceeded pretty well for the most part. 1st problem came when they started bringing the fence in. It was made as I said, but they said they they "added" a bottom horizontal slat (which I stated from the beginning saying I wanted) and because they added that from the original design, it was going to be an extra $400 from quoted, which I didn't quite understand because that is how I explained I wanted the fence originally. This wasn't a huge deal though, as I am used to changes in costs as construction is done. 2nd problem: As stated in point 4 of original plan, I expected that the quote included replacing the larger gate door to match the fence that they were putting in. They put a gate into our contract but they argued that that was the small gate in the front of the fence and adding a matching gate to replace our gate would cost an addition $1,500-$2,000, which was outside of our budget so we declined. Even with those two things, everything else seemed to be going well, they were working fast, and replied quickly with their communications. They have said many times that they would not be done till we were completely happy. They finished Friday, November 7th. Well I say finished in the sense that everything was put in. However, there were a few problems. Problems they said they would fix as it was their fault. Here are the problems that have happened only a few days after installing the fence. There were a few other problems, but they fixed them, like they installed the door handle incorrectly and they forgot to make a hole for the handle. The following problems have yet to be fixed 1. Bent boards. There are two boards that are bent out about 4 inches past the rest of the boards. 2. Before staining and installing the boards, they didn't think to take off all the labeling on the wood, such as skew marks, company labels and the such. There are 7 on the outside and 6 on the inside. This totaled 13 in all. 3. the metal has already started to scratch and rust due to normal wear and tear. like closing the door. This is 1 week after installation. There was another spot they scratched up from their installation as well. I communicated this from 11/6- 11/8. I was promised multiple times that it would be finished before Thanksgiving. The first promise was for 2 weeks before Thanksgiving, Then they said, they were busy with other clients and would help me the following week (1 week before Thanksgiving) and still promising it would be done before Thanksgiving. That week before (11/17-11/24) they didn't reply till Wednesday saying they would be there later in the week. They never came. I asked several times with no response till the day before Thanksgiving (11/26) asking for specific numbers and pictures of what needs to replace and to send it to another number. I sent it to both the new number as well as the one I have been in communication since. After this, they have been ghosting me and for 5 days now I have tried to call and text (leaving voicemails as well) trying to get a hold them but have received nothing back. I have not been rude in any of this and have been asking kindly and they have yet to fulfill many of their promises. It is now 12/1 in the evening and no response from them as of yet. I will update this post as well as change the stars if any of this changes and if they are able to fix their mistakes. Here's to hoping they will. I guess my lesson for the day is never give final payment before they have fixed the issues they have messed up and in that I will say that was my mistake.
