Before choosing a contractor, we met with roughly 15 different companies, and from our very first meeting, Nir stood out from the rest. Unlike many contractors we spoke with, Nir never made us feel pressured or rushed into making a decision. He took the time to thoroughly explain the entire process, what to expect, and answer all of our questions. We made a few design changes throughout the project, and Nir was always willing to meet with us, come back out to the house, review the revisions, and make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. Throughout the entire project, he was always just a text or phone call away whenever we had a question. One thing we were especially happy about was how quickly they were able to get started. Within just a few days of signing the agreement, the crew was onsite and working. We wanted the project completed in time to enjoy our backyard during the summer, so that was a huge plus for us. The demo phase moved quickly, and throughout the entire project it was clear that everyone on the crew took pride in their work. There was always progress being made, and nobody was standing around waiting for something to do. The entire project took about 2-3 weeks, with a few days of delay due to an existing plumbing issue we discovered with our old galvanized main line. This was not related to their work, but once the issue was identified, Nir and his team were able to handle that project for us as well, including permits and inspections. After the plumbing work was completed, they got right back on track and finished everything quickly. As with any construction project, a few small items and details came up along the way that needed clarification or adjustment. Construction projects rarely go perfectly, and we had a few misunderstandings and unexpected issues come up throughout the process. What impressed us was that whenever something needed attention, Nir took ownership of it, communicated with us, and made sure it was resolved. In the end, everything was completed to our satisfaction. One of our biggest concerns before starting was who would actually be working on our property. We work from home and have kids, so we wanted to feel comfortable with the people who would be at our house every day for several weeks. One thing we really appreciated about Unique Home Builders was that they used their own crew. We got to know the team, everyone was respectful, and it made the entire experience much more comfortable. There were also a few design details that we changed while work was already underway. For example, around our palm trees we originally planned to do circular paver borders, but once we saw them taking shape, we decided we preferred square borders instead. We mentioned it to the foreman, and the team made the adjustment without any issues. That flexibility made a big difference. The job site was kept clean and organized throughout the project. During the demo phase there were naturally some days where material and debris accumulated in the front yard, but everything was organized, contained, and safely coned off. We also appreciated the little things. Whenever we were leaving or returning home while the crew was working, they would move equipment and materials out of the way for us, and they would even sweep up before leaving for the day. Those details did not go unnoticed. Pricing was very fair. Nir wasn't the cheapest bid we received, but he also wasn't the most expensive. Given the amount of work involved and the quality of the finished product, we felt the value was excellent. Just as importantly, the final cost matched the agreed contract price. The true test of a contractor isn't whether problems arise, it's how they handle them. Nir and his team consistently communicated, addressed concerns, and delivered a finished project we're proud of. We are extremely happy with the end result, would absolutely hire Unique Home Builders again, and would not hesitate to recommend them to friends and family.

The quoted price was alright but the details were missing such as exactly whats covered in the job. later, had to pay more to get the originally promised job. Work was done pretty quickly but the overall quality of work isn't professional. I have some of the paver stones loose with in the first week and more now only after a year. The weed barrier isn't working 100% but overall getting the job done. would not recommend them unless you ask many questions and have every little detail written on the contract. ** made a huge mess on the driveway with the material and did not clean it afterwards.

Amosa priced the job fairly and was easy to deal with. Communication throughout the process was clear. The foreman on the job, Joe, was very friendly and easy to speak to. Joe let me know if his crew had any questions and confirmed if there was anything that needed to be clarified before proceeding. Furthermore, Amosa would text me periodic updates and let me know beforehand what the schedule was. We had a hiccup after the plumbers had capped off the outside gas line which shut off the water heater. I contacted Amosa to let him know that our hot water was not working and he was able to get the plumber to come to our house on a Sunday to fix the issue. This type of responsiveness and sense of urgency was appreciated (especially for a family with kids). The work was completed on time and the concrete is a welcome upgrade to the old uneven walkway that we had before. Amosa and Joe's team rerouted some electrical conduit, capped gas lines that were no longer being used and poured new concrete. I recommend AM Masonry & Concrete.

After tolerating several different fencing companies and the variety of job estimates, we were…read morepleasantly surprised when we met Josh Tucker of AJM Construction. A Company that his father founded over 40 years ago, providing a variety of construction services. Josh made an appointment within a few days and was extremely professional and knowledgeable in providing an estimate via email the same day. The terms of partial payments were in accordance with State Contractors law and regulations. I mention this because we had two estimates that wanted 50% or more up front which is a huge flag and also illegal. Having a shared rear yard fence replacement done means coordinating with your neighbors. Josh was easily agreeable in meeting with our neighbors at their convenience and providing separate billing invoices for the shared costs. After scheduling almost 3 1/2 weeks later we had an installation date. Suddenly I was hospitalized and this meant my wife was very busy. I felt confident, as did she, having Josh and his crew go ahead with the work without any immediate supervision from us. For the 3 1/2 days the crew worked incredibly well in making sure everything was handled. This was a great relief to both my wife and I. Another plus was Josh and his crew handling everything. With Josh on site each day, they removed the old wooden fence, trimmed tree branches that were obstructing the new fence line, and chipped out the older post concrete. The post holes were widened, new pressure treated posts set, followed by new concrete poured to above grade to prevent wood rot. With the string line up, new redwood fencing was assembled after being primed. Once up, the fence was painted with two additional coats of two different paints. White for my neighbors to match his side fences and an off white matching our stucco retaining wall below the fence line planter. Great care was taken by the crew to cover all plant life and trees from paint and damage. We would highly recommend Josh and his family business for any of your Construction needs. The crew of Josh, Trinidad, and Alberto were extremely clean, professional, kind and thorough in their work on our fence and surrounding property.

My wife and I have a new-build that required additional landscaping of our backyard. We eventually decided to go with California Outdoor Living after reading all their positive reviews on yelp. In addition their quote was very competitive if not the best when looking at other contractors. We already had a design in mind for JC which made the process very quick. Although there was some misunderstanding with the design and drains throughout the process, JC was always responsive with his texts and quick to make adjustments. The moment we got our design approved by our HOA, the construction happened VERY FAST. We emailed California Outdoor living on a Wednesday evening of our approval. The very next day (Thursday), JC arrived to go over the outline. I do appreciate how fast things were done, but it was almost to a fault at times. They were ready to go by the next day but my wife and I didn't feel like we had discussed the plan and execution thoroughly enough. On Friday the construction workers were already digging out our backyard. They spoke only Spanish so communication was very difficult to ensure if our plan was executed appropriately. By Saturday all of the pavers were laid out. Construction was incredibly fast but because of that some details were lost in translation. We discussed with JC that we wanted an 11x14 ft paver island. However the final dimensions was 12.5 x 12.5 feet. We also wanted all the walls of our backyard to be lined with turf. However the paver border ran too close to one of the walls, that putting turf did not make sense. They only left 1 inch between the wall and the paver (see attached image). We appreciate how fast the work was done. The overall work was great BUT not exactly what we wanted. We felt rushed with the whole construction process. However everything was done in less than a week which was incredible! In addition, once the turf was laid out JC noted that window reflections from both our neighbors and our own windows would cause damage to the turf. He informed us this can happen sometimes. Going back to rushing things and not being thorough, we wished JC took the time to look at our backyard and factor in this possibility. If we had known the reflections could damage this area we would have changed our turf design. At the end of the day they are just executing our design, but it's these minor things that left us feeling like our backyard could have been better. However we are still very thrilled with the overall speed and communication done throughout the process! Would still recommend this company. But these small critiques are definitely something to keep in mind for future clients.

I would not recommend this company. Their lack of attention to detail made the entire experience…read moreunpleasant. The drainage tube was installed with the slope going the wrong direction, and the walls were not properly covered before the concrete was poured, leaving concrete splatter all over the side walls. The concrete also cracked less than three days after it was poured. It was poured on Monday morning, and on Wednesday the artificial turf guy was using a large plate compactor right next to the two-day-old concrete. I believe the vibration from that equipment contributed to the cracking. When I spoke with JC about the issue, he told me that concrete will crack sooner or later and that is why they do not warranty cracks. Concrete was poured directly on top of the soil, no gravel was brought first. While I understand that concrete can crack over time, I did not expect it to crack before I had even made my final payment. Despite my disappointment, I paid the remaining balance. After that, I never received any follow-up confirmation that the payment was received , or even a simple thank you.
