See strains of concrete on the ribbons, was never properly cleaned in the first place. Update: The proof is in the pudding. My pictures should help anyone to make a decision. We're so glad that we were able to have William Dunn at WCD Masonry build our 90' wall between our house & a busy road! We recently bought our house and we're currently in the process of renovating. Throughout the process we've dealt with a number of contractors, fumigators, electricians, etc. At least fifteen of them. WCD Masonry was one of the three companies that was completely honest, helpful and courteous throughout the entire process. Mr. William Dunn never nickel and dime'd us and provided expert service right from the start. Even after a year from my original request, he still held true to his quote. There was a wall in our backyard that needed to be repaired/installed and William and his crew answered the call with ease. William even went above and beyond and dealt with the city giving us a hard time. Long story short, the city didn't have a few of our permits on file and gave William a hard time about getting the permit for the new wall. They blamed him and us for their mistake but William was very professional in handling the entire situation. He took our paperwork back to the office after they gave him the run around and even ate costs for refilling for a demo permit. I was fully expecting to pay the additional cost and deal with getting my money back from the city. Not with William on the job. He's still dealing with retrieving his refund. I don't know many contractors that will pay for something on your behalf. Not too many in my experience...William even played with my 10 month old son while I moved my car across the street on street cleaning day. Along with A1 service and professionalism, he's also very kind and personable. The entire process took 2 days and it would have only taken one day if William didn't have to deal with the city. I needed to build a block wall in my backyard to replace a dilapidated wood fence that had blown over in the last storm. I'm pretty careful when hiring a contractor, so I had 6 masonry companies come out to give me a quote. From the start, I really liked William. He was honest and direct. He talked with us for over an hour and answered all our questions (and I had a lot!). Never once did he seem put out or annoyed. He seemed like a genuine nice guy. His quote was also very competitive and the pictures of his previous jobs were impressive. I had got busy with work and it was a couple weeks before I contacted William to let him know we chose him for the job. Of course he had already taken another job by then and was upfront with me on when he thought he could start. It was only a couple weeks out but he made sure to keep me informed on his schedule, which I appreciated. Throughout the whole process William and crew were polite and courteous, showed up when they were supposed to, worked hard all day, and then cleaned up after themselves. He also handled all the permits and city inspections which was a relief. Any questions I had along the way were quickly answered and things went very smoothly. We are extremely happy with the final product. Also thinking it would be an easy fix, I had asked William if he could fix a broken block on my existing block wall (it was a different color and had scores on it so completely different from the block he was using for the new wall). Well it turned out it was a really hard block to find and William had to go all over to find it. Most would have just given up as I had already paid him in full for the job, but not William. He is a man of his word. He had to drive all over but he found that block for me and fixed it beautifully. Not only that, but he also touched up the missing grout on my existing block wall near the broken block as an added bonus just because he's that awesome! He goes above and beyond. William quoted me $18,0000 on a brick wall but he required $6000 down. He seemed very professional so I gave him the down payment to begin the work. A week later he called me and asked for another $6000 on top of the $18000 for a total of $24000. Basically he gave me a low bid then jacked up the price once we gave him a down payment. When I asked William " why my $18000 wall is now $24000"he gave me a laundry list of excesses including my favorite "it had to be hurricane proof and thus required more material" to which I replied "were in California we don't get hurricanes" . So if you think your getting a fair deal from William make sure you read his contract carefully because although he loves to talk his contracts are extremely vague. Update: William Dunn and his crew did an excellent job and we negotiated the 30% mark up down to about 10%. read more

Over the past 10 years I have worked with several contractors and WCD Masonry is the best contractor I have ever worked with! The reason I feel they are the best is because of William. Will is a person of his word and the quality of his work is excellent. I received several quotes for my block wall project and WCD gave me a reasonable price with the absolute best customer service. Will is very knowledgeable and was great at helping me understand the project process. My project was difficult due to challenges with obtaining city permits and the actual location of the wall. My wall is over 100ft long, abutting a major street on a cul-de-sac. The city initially denied my permit. Will took the time to help me get my project approved by the city and after 4 months of meetings and phone calls, I finally got my permits. I not only got my permits, but we were successful at having the city regulations amended for homeowners with the same issue I had. Will and I ensured that this issue would not be a set back for others in the same situation. My neighbor in particular was very grateful because she is planning to start the same project in a couple years and it's no surprise that she wants to contract Will and WCD Masonry for the project. Will and his employees are professional, reliable and very good at what they do. He gave me a timeline and finished my project exactly on schedule. He coordinated everything from city permits to temporary fencing. Since WCD is so good, they are busy and you may be scheduled for the following month, but the quality of work you will received is A+. WCD is worth the wait!
