We have a 45 year old sycamore tree we planted when our first son was born. It is the tallest tree in the neighborhood. Peterson trimed it several years ago, great work, great crew. Now it needed all those shoots that pop out at each cut thinned out. The supervisor used his lazer pointer to show us what was needed to inhance the tree and to help keep it healthy. Once again the crew was gtreat and so was their work. They sycamore has leafed out for the spring and it is gorgious. Its not too thick, we can see the sky through it, the shade pattern is phenominal. read more

We had used Peterson's once before and had been pleased with their services to remove a tree and prune a few others, even though they were quite pricier than other arborists. We decided to try them again. I was truly disappointed with their customer service. I scheduled a consultation with an arborist and they scheduled a 4-hour window. On the day of, the arborist called and left me a message saying they were on their way. I waited and waited for a call for when they arrived, and no such call. I had been in the back of my house property doing some work and so I figured I would call the arborist back since I would not hear a door bell. He did not leave a number so there was no way to reach him. I called the main Peterson's number and there was no answer. I tried again and left a message. I waited and waited and no one showed up so I called again. I finally spoke with someone and she said he came and rang the bell and since no one came he left. I was frustrated that he didn't try to call me before just leaving. The customer service person I spoke with gave me the option to reschedule for another day and another 4-hr window. I said that I was not ok with having to schedule for such a long window and asked if she could offer a shorter one. She then blamed me for not having told them when I scheduled the appointment that I might not be inside my house at time of arrrival. She ultimately hung up on me. I called back and left a message asking to speak with the owner/supervisor. I had hoped to find some sort of attempt on their part to find some compromise. But I never received a call back. I was able to find another company that made an appointment for a smaller window and that had better customer service. I will be taking my business elsewhere and will never recommend their services again. read more

I have worked with Peterson's for many years and they always provide great service at a reasonable price. The crew is very nice and clean up after themselves. Pete is terrific and has given great advice throughout the years. Highly recommend! read more

Fast, courteous and reasonable prices! I've used them several times and will again! They took down a tree in 10 minutes!!

I had my Chinese elm laced and balanced with Petersons done recently and they did a phenomenal job. I didn't want too much removed and wanted it balanced so it wasn't too heavy on the bit leaning over the house. Everything went smoothly and I appreciate that an experienced arborist came to the house beforehand (Pete) who was very nice and i felt relieved and assured that he knew how to handle our tree. The office was very quick to send us communication and the estimate was lower than I expected. The crew were very nice as well and David made sure to go over the instructions. They definitely know what they're doing! The tree looks beautiful. Thanks read more

Arborists are different from gardeners. Of course gardeners offer a great deal, but I've been rejecting their offers, as I kept seeing other neighborhood trees being chopped and hacked too stumpy. I don't know much about trees, but knew enough that I wanted my tree to still look like a tree when it loses it's leaves in winter... Called PTW, Tanner came by for free quote, was very professional, answered all my questions, and their tree care and biology expertise really showed. Customer service was excellent! - Detailed quotes, conveniently sent by email, courtesy calls to schedule, and they were even willing to wait 2 months later to trim after the Lunar New Year festivities. So happy with the service I received, will definitely be back! read more

The guys who do the physical work are great, especially the lead. But I was stood up three times over a one month period by the owner for quotes on new work so I won't use them again. Kinda looney because the guy would act very interested in the new work but would then go silent and ignore us. No more, done with them read more

This was the 4th time in 8 years Peterson's has pruned the 2 major trees (Eugena & Cassia) and Giant Bird of Paradise on our property. As always, special care was taken to protect our patio awning from falling branches, twigs, and the like. David, Jose, Mauro and Angel worked carefully and professionally. The job was completed in just two hours. I'll be calling them back in another two years.. read more

UPDATE: Most reviews with this company were positive, so after speaking to my husband and letting some weeks pass I had him call and ask for the same thing and he had no issue at all. Today Jeff "Pete" came by and he was professional, pleasant and intently listened to my concerns with the backyard and provided me with some light feedback; exactly what I was expecting out of an initial visit for an estimate. He promised to come back with a quote tomorrow. I'm grateful that I didn't let one bad experience dissuade me from reaching out again and hope that we can commence a long term relationship. I was forthcoming with my original experience and found him to be understanding and apologetic nonetheless, which I greatly appreciated. Looking forward to hearing back from them on our quote. read more

Had Peterson's come out and trim a number of trees on our property. Excellent, professional and extremely thorough. Crew of three were courteous, careful and meticulous. If I could give them 6 stars I would. Thanks for being a company that gets the job done. Bravo, I will be calling you again in the future for our tree care and maintenance. read more

These guys were great! They dropped off a huge load of mulch for my backyard and I will definitely contact them again in the future. Thanks, Tanner! read more

As a Landscape Designer, I know the value of a professional arborist. They 'speak tree'. Never let your gardener trim your trees, they don't have properly cleaned tools and can kill your trees by hacking them into misshapen stumps (a very expensive mistake). Pete and I worked together on a difficult job where I thought we might lose a very mature tree, but Pete's expertise and optimism brought it back. All of their trimmers are certified arborist trimmers. They have maintained my personal trees for over 15 years, keeping my trees well shaped and healthy. I have a Japanese Maple that's taller then my two story house, so keeping it happy is a priority to our backyard landscape. They are the best out there. I frequently recommend them to my clients. read more

**Read the unpublished reviews** I was shocked to see that Peterson's didn't have all 5 star reviews and then I noticed that there are a bunch of high reviews not published for some reason. My husband is a certified arborist and knows most of the landscape and tree companies on OC. Peterson's is the only company we hire to do the tree work that he can't do himself. They are truly the best around. read more

While not the least expensive, Peterson's completed the job quickly, efficiently and cleaned up. The was no damage to the surrounding landscaping. They were easy to contact and work with. As there were multiple trees over 40' high, the professional consultation was much appreciated. I highly recommend their professionalism. read more

We hired Peterson tree works to remove a tree, grind and hand dig the stump, so we could install a new tree in the same spot. We bought a new tree and hired that Nursery to dig the same hole and install the new tree. New company dug down 6 inches and found the old original tree stump that Petersons failed to remove. The new tree was on a flatbed in front of our house along with a crane to lift it over the fence. Needless to say, they were unable to install due to Peterson's failure to remove the stump and returned our tree to the nursery. We made several calls to Jeff (owner) and Mike (salesman) and received no return calls. We were told by their office staff that Jeff was on vacation and unreachable and no one else in the company could help us rectify the situation (salesman?) I would never recommend using this company. read more

We had Peterson prune 2 trees that we felt that they had the expertise with. Pete was our contact for our estimate and job. I was totally happy and pleased with him. I have used Peterson's for years and always been happy with their service, in spite of its being pretty pricey. This time however, the prices went up and the quality went way down. When my roommate politely asked the crew to keep the back yard gate closed to make sure our dog didn't get out, the person on the crew she spoke to was quite rude to her. In addition, they moved all my backyard furniture around and didn't put it back, tipped over my umbrella, and broke a border fence and never said a word about any of it. For this I paid nearly 3000$? I called and wanted to report my complaint and was told to send pictures to the owner. I did that a week ago and as of now, have had no response whatsoever from the company. I will not use them again. read more

I cannot begin to express how pleased i am with the results on my beautiful 100 year old pine tree. I have had it trimmed before a number of time with your basic tree trimmers.... but decided it was time for a really professional job. Bottom line, You pay for what you get. From the initial consultation with Pete being very knowledgeable as an arborist. The crew was on time, getting set up and cleaning up the many branches and the trimmers cutting where necessary. The yard was left immaculate when them finished. If you care about your tree as i do, you can be assured that it will be taken care of. I have never seen it look as glorious as it does now. Weird company to try to work with. I work for a non-profit and we were hoping to get some mulch delivered. Seemed like a great deal to get free mulch! I had submitted a request online and spoke to the same woman multiple times who continued to tell me that we were the first on the list for a mulch delivery, and yet nothing happens. It has been months and whenever I call she keeps saying we're first on the list. I'm getting the feeling that she just doesn't want to work with us, which is fine. It's free mulch, and we're grateful for what we can get. But the idea that she would continue to waste our time seems unprofessional. It has been a disappointing experience. read more

Today is the second time this company has saved my CA Pepper Tree. A year or so back, I had scheduled them. SA winds came literally the day before they arrived and blew the tree over (young tree). They arrived the next day, pulled it upright, staked it and laced it beautifully. It's much bigger now and SA winds are scheduled for tonight. I had it trimmed in late Sept but it has filled out so fast, I was nervous about how it would do.....I called Juliette at Peterson's and Pete Melin was at my door about 90 minutes later. He trimmed it and staked it beautifully, which isn't easy because it's a multi-trunk. Pete is the consummate arborist, knowledgeable and professional. I really appreciated his service and willingness to respond quickly. I'll sleep better tonight in the winds knowing the tree will be fine. Thanks Pete and Peterson's Tree Works!! read more

I can not be happier with the excellent service provided by Peterson's Tree Works. I had reached out to three companies to get comparison quotes for cleanup of this backyard disaster (see photos), and this is what happened: One company never showed up. One company came out and quoted me a $500 up charge, on top of the regular charge, for a same day cleanup. Then Pete, the arborist from Peterson's showed up. He was professional, on time, knowledgeable, and friendly. He said he would get back to me later with a quote. Within no time, I received it. I called Katie in the office, asked when the work might be done, and waited for her to coordinate. She called right back and said a crew could be there within an hour. I verified that there would be no additional charge for same day service. She said absolutely not. Moises and his crew showed up, and got right to work. I had asked them to please not step on my flowers if possible, and they said they would not. These guys were so efficient, careful, thorough and amazing. I could not believe how quickly they worked their magic. My flowers were not stepped on , and there was literally hardly even one tiny twig left when they completed their cleanup. And, they couldn't have been nicer. The whole experience was A+. Thank you, Peterson's! read more

This company is like a well oiled machine. The crew arrived on time, and in a few hours the job was complete. I had two trees replaced. The old trees were removed, including the roots. The new trees were planted with expert care. They amended the soil, each layer of back-fill was patted down and they made sure the trees were straight. If you want to go with a professional tree service you will find it in Peterson Tree Works. read more

We had Peterson's come out to cut back and anchor vines that were bulging out from a slump stone wall. 3 workers were here less than 11/2 hours and did a very POOR job! See photos. They didn't trim off enough and the branches are still bulging out from the wall with no anchoring. They also did not clean out dead leaves in the branches they did cut. See photos! We were charged approximately $900 for this shoddy Work! Don't use this company! read more

Quite possible the worst customer service I've ever received. From scheduling the appointment (no one could tell us a time) to waiting to get the quote back (going on 2 weeks) we've had nothing but a bad experience- besides Arborist Pete who came to our property. I have called every other day for the last 2 weeks to follow up on a quote and every time they say "I'll take your information and call you back." I've never gotten a call back and for a job that can cost thousands of dollars for one tree, frustrated is an understatement. Most of these other reviews are positive and I sure hope you have a better experience than I did. read more

Peterson's Tree Works recently did work at our home. We are very pleased with the results. We recommend them and will definitely use their services again. We had trees trimmed and pruned as well as work done for slope maintenance. The crew bring a high degree of professionalism to the job as well has having an artistic eye to trim and prune trees to enhance their natural beauty. The work on the slope was thorough and much dead wood was removed. From the scheduler to the Certified Arborist to the crew, all interactions were professional and focused on serving the customer. Thanks Peterson's! read more

I needed trees removed from my back yard. A trim to a tree in the front and the removal of two palm trees shoots in front. The last needed to be hand dug due to proximity to plumbing. What I got was the backyard being cut down and chipped. But no root work done. So those pepper trees are still trying. The big tree trim was decent. They did leave a low hanging branch which is a nuisance. There palm shoots were cut just below ground level. So they've come back. Sadly I will not use this service again and will not recommend them. read more

I had several trees replaced 3 years ago and I wanted to be sure they were properly shaped and healthy as they grew. The first time Petersons trimmed my Olive Tree, it was like a work of art...I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. Three years later, it is growing in with a beautiful shape, which would not happen without their assistance. Later, they replaced an Arbutus for me -- and left very detailed care instructions for the first 6 months which helped it grow into a beautiful tree. EVERYONE I've worked with there has always been very polite - from the receptionist to the arborist to the maintenance crew. And, they have always showed up in the time frame originally given, and left the yard in pristine condition. The price is competitive, if not on the low side, compared with other bids. They're not just gardeners, they are professional arborists. And, I can tell the difference in the work. I'm pretty shocked with the recent handful of negative reviews I see posted because they are completely at odds with what my experience has been. Makes me wonder if those reviews are plants from a competitor because my experience has been GREAT!! read more

Great experience from start to finish. Everything from the estimate process to the follow up performance call after the project was fantastic. The crew showed up on time and ready to work. I know its the small things that count the most and when the crew members grabbed our pool net and cleaned the large debris out of the pool I knew that we had a great company that I can refer to neighbors, friends and family. The Crew did a great job and I made sure to let the office know during the follow performance call. read more

They TOTALLY ripped me off. Gave me a quote and i agreed to do only part of the work at this time. They trimmed back about 10' of ivy next to my pool and charged me $400. They sent two guys over and spent 1 1/2 hours, didn't finish the work and left branches and leaves in my pool. I called to ask when they were going to come back to finish the work and clean the pool and they assured me someone would come back to finish the job and clean the pool. No one came back! Now my pool is full of algae. I spoke with Mike and he claims $400 is a reasonable price for cutting 10' of ivy, about 6" back from the edge of the water. I wanted to get the ivy cut back so that my pool guy could get down that side of the pool. My pool guy called me today do say the work they did was useless, he can't get to the pool because they didn't cut enough ivy back and now he has to drain and wash the pool to fix the algae. I'll consider this a preliminary review....if they do good on their word by cleaning up after themselves, like it states in their proposal, and finish the work I'll come back and update this review. At this time I cannot recommend them at all....they are thieves and liars! read more

Unfortunately, I never had an opportunity to work with this company. After no one showed up for the scheduled estimate, I called the office. I was placed on hold for about 10 minutes, after which the receptionist indicated she was unable to reach the arborist. She promised to call back as soon as she was able to reach the arborist. Well, it has been an additional 2 and 1/2 hours since that conversation and guess what? No call....Needless to say, I won't be rescheduling. read more
