I have used Vargas Tree Service many times over the years to trim my Chinese Elm. It is 65-years-old, and planted by my father. It is now very big, and I count on the Vargas team to keep it shaped and healthy. These guys go above and beyond with customer service, starting with Sandra on the phone, and Esteban, who comes out to give an estimate. The workers always arrive on time, prepare the work area by covering windows, doors, patio furniture, and surrounding shrubs and perennials. I have lots of bird baths and statuary, and they always cover or move items to keep them safe. Everything is returned to its rightful place when the work is done, because they take pictures of everything before they move it, so they know where it goes! The only reason I'm giving 2-stars is due to the workers who are very kind and courteous and do a good job cleaning up what they've cut down when it comes to trimming. In regards to how much they remove from trees is the reason for the low score. I have to wonder if these are true arborists because unfortunately they remove so much foliage that it leads to tree demise. I've lived in two different neighborhoods now that hired them to trim trees. The first had large, mature birch trees at it's entrance. After three "trimmings", the trees had to be cut down as they stopped producing leaves. Now they are again, removing too much live foliage from trees in my current neighborhood and I fear the same might happen. Trees need their leaves to capture enough sunlight to survive. Even the most amateur individual should know this as photosynthesis is taught in grade school. Its extremely important to keep all, but most especially mature trees around if you like to breathe. They filter and clean our air like nothing else can. I honestly don't know why any trimming is being done and unless there are dead branches that need to be removed or limbs are in the way of electrical wires, they should be left alone. read more

Before starting, they moved or covered anything that might be damaged. They followed to a T the instructions on the estimate (which is always detailed). We could not be happier with the results! Clean-up? You would not be able to tell they had even been here!! They leave your yard and the street immaculate. It is quite impressive. Found Vargas Tree Service And Landscaping looking at the Arborist site and Yelp reviews. With so many positive experiences, it seemed good that they would be able to treat an ailing tree of ours. Initial call was quick for a consultation and the eventual follow-up for service was smooth. The work performed was satisfactory but then after it as if they had skipped town. Leaving messages for a follow-up and on to many instances, it was a message machine. If I did get hold of the gal she made empty promises to call me back with Gilbert's schedule so that a time could be arranged. "I'll call you in an hour", or "I'll call you back in a couple hours once I talk to Gilbert." Even calling Gilbert direct he would state he doesn't have his advanced schedule so once he returns to the office he'd get back with me. This was tiresome to chase them down and the delays came at multi-week intervals and the tree was becoming worse as time passed. The big tree firms tell me straight out they only deal with commercial clients or larger properties. If you are a single tree or small property owner, find another arborist. I look at selecting a tree service as a long term relationship, so I take it very seriously in selecting the right company. First, the bidding process was very informative. Gilbert pointed out what and why things needed to be done to my trees. Identified what was ailing three trees and arranged prior treatment for them. Second, the day of service. They were very prompt, unbelievably careful of all surrounding plants, sprinklers, windows and structures by covering or protecting them with wood, tarps and scaffolding. My trees look beautiful! Have you ever seen trees that look like a coat rack after they have been cut...well it shouldn't! My trees have been meticulously manicured with a shape to them and leaves still on the branch to look like a tree. Sounds so simple BUT I have learned the hard way on previous tree services. I recently contacted Vargas Tree Service to remove 9 palm trees from my recently purchased property. It started off great when I called, a live customer service representative answered the phone and no automated messages were present. She was able to set up an appointment that day to have their estimator come out and meet me at the window time. Esteban met me and gave me a written quote and I agreed to the price. Esteban was able to schedule his tree crew to come out later in the week. When the crew ad equipment showed up they were on time, staged the work area where the trees were going to be removed by setting up tarps and protecting sprinklers and surrounding plants. We've used Vargas Tree Service for year and they have always done a great job shaping the trees as well as trimming them. We do not want trees that look like Lolly Pops, or that have been butchered. That has never happened with Vargas. Also, they have a certified Arborist working for them. The company is family owned and they are all very polite and wonderful people. We have 4 birch trees and on Chinese pistach on the property. Estaban gave me some wonderful advise for the birch trees. He gave me the name of the Tree Doctor who comes out and sprays the birch trees each spring as they are leafing out. This keeps parasites away, and also a treatment to the roots. read more

Recently, I decided to finally give some needed attention to the trees in my backyard. There was a 25-30 foot palm tree that I wanted removed, two 20 foot giant birds of paradise that were out of control, and a row of 7 or 8 ficus trees that needed about 5 feet taken off the top. I got some bids and although Vargas not was not the lowest, Esteban was very knowledgeable and professional. We discussed the job, and he made some good suggestions I had not considered. We agreed on a fair and reasonable price, and on the scheduled day, Esteban and his crew arrived promptly and began the work. Excellent from beginning to the end. I would highly recommend using Vargas they have an arborist who does the initial estimate and knows what they are doing. They came to survey the trees and provided an email quote also as requested recommendations on replacement shrubs. On the day of the job they laid tarps on all work areas therefore when the job was completed, it was a quick clean-up.
