We hired Armando and his crew to remove a fig tree and do tree trimming for $750 on Feb 28. The next week, all our yard light stopped working after a rain. An electrician came today to troubleshoot. After several hours of searching, we found out that Armando's crew broke several wires near the fig tree root when removing the tree (see attached picture). Instead of informing us, they covered it up and buried the broken wires. The rain made the soil wet, which led to the short circuit. We reached out to Armando for a remedy and proposed a small partial refund ($100), which we believe is more than fair considering the trouble and wasted time their negligence caused us. His response was very disappointing: 1) He initially blamed his coworkers for not informing him about the damage. 2) He then blamed us for calling an electrician instead of him. However, since they had buried the damage so well, we had no way of knowing that the broken wires underground were the cause of the issue until the electrician dug them out. 3) He offered a $100 discount on a future service, as if we would ever hire them again after this incident. Armando & his brothers arrived before their scheduled time. Since we were ready for them, They got started. We had 5 very large cypress trees and we needed to have - 1 was cut down to a small stump. They trimmed the remaining trees (about 4') down. Since we have a pool, they tarped over our pool to keep all the debris out. I also asked him if he could take down one of the big branches to my bird of paradise, no problem. The whole job took about 2 hours and they cleaned up really well. Today, I had 2 old mimosa trees removed, including stumps. Armando gave me good quote. Not the lowest one, but not the highest one either. For the quality of work performed, and for the expertise, it was worth it. He came in on the second day after I accepted the quote. Took them less than 1 hour (just before rain was forecasted to start). The crew of 3 was working like a clockwork. Cutting, grinding, and cleaning up simultaneously. Pleasure to watch them work. Great teamwork. Before starting, Armando also listened carefully to my explanation that the sprinkler supply lines were installed right next to both trees (I did mark them myself before the job started). At the end, no damage was done, but Armando put me at ease before I accepted the job, saying that if they did happen to damage the sprinkler lines they would fix them on the job before leaving to make sure I am not left with non-working lawn irrigation. At the end I decided to remove one all together and prune the other 3. Armando gave a fair quote to star, and when I asked whether it already included stump removal he confirmed it did! Tree trimming done right!! We've got some talllll pines in the backyard, but not a problem at all for these guys. German scurried up and did his work with all hand saws - no chainsaws used on the pines. Very skilled, quick, safe and tidy.
