I have been going to B and B for the last 12 years. They have the best prices on almost every item you cd need for your pool including repair parts. All you have to do is walk in with the broken part and within minutes you'll be walking away with a replacement saving lots. But this week they provided why I'll never go to another pool store. I have been having them repair my Pool Cleaner brand cleaner over the years as parts wear. A new unit is over $400 so getting repairs done for $20-100 makes a lot of sense. I brought my cleaner in to fix a problem with it not wanting to go straight. They replaced some parts the first time at a reasonable price and it did not work right after bringing it home. I brought it back in 2 more times changing out a small part for $20. It still didn't work and I was resigning myself to buy a new cleaner. They wanted to give it one more shot and run it in one of their pools overnight to do some further troubleshooting. Well they found out there was still one bad part that needed to be changed out. And they did not charge me for it. I spent around $100 and about 2weeks to get it right. Needless to say at any point they cd have said I needed to buy a whole new cleaner but they didn't. They were determined to fix my cleaner. I love the commitment! Thanks guys! read more

Last night, I came home from vacation to find my pool pump motor dead. So this morning I considered myself lucky when I found someone who would install a rebuilt motor for $300 and take my dead one in exchange. Then a friend told me about B&B, telling me they will actually fix the motor. I called them up and they said it would run about $80. So I unhooked the motor (just 3 wires held down with screws), and took it over. About 2 hours later, they called to say it was ready. When I got there, I learned that instead of replacing the bearings, they only need to replace a capacitor making the total bill only $25. Unbelievable. Took it home, reattached it to the power and it started right up. Even if they had charged me the $80 I was originally quoted, I'd still be thrilled. These guys know what they're doing, and do it well, quickly, and honestly. Highly recommended. read more

We've suffered through several pool service companies and they were so so. Finally came here and saw this company and its rating. Agree on the high rating! They were excellent! Customer service was outstanding. I assumed I would need a new "variable speed" motor since they stopped selling the standard kind. They said "well, we can rebuild it for $69 and it will work like new". They did just that. The tech contacted me the night before like they said, he was out when he said, explained he would take it back to the shop and be back within 4 hours to reinstall it. Done and done as promised. I was planning a party and my waterfall motor decided to stop working. I happened upon B&B by chance as another place I was trying to go to to buy a new motor at was closed. I told the staff at B&B that I had a party later and was looking for a new motor. They asked to look at my old motor. They stopped what they were doing and tested my motor and fixed it on the spot. It turns out it needed a new capacitor. $24 fix when I thought I was going to have to spend hundreds. What great customer service this store has. Knowing I needed my motor fixed soon, they stopped what they were doing and really came through for me. I will be back for my pool needs. read more

Spent all day at 2 pool stores in mesa trying to replace my older single speed pool pump. Went round and round with one store trying to find a rebuilt motor that would fit with no luck. Went to another mesa store and they had nothing that would fit either, and I wasn't ready to splurge for the 1000 plus dollar variable speed system. B and B had the exact pump I needed, right size, everything and it was new not rebuilt. Cheaper than the Mesa store rebuilds too! I wish I would've gone here first instead of spending 5+ hours at their competitors in Mesa! This will be my go to store in the future! read more

Pool motor was making noice. Asked B & B Pools. They said to drop off the motor and will benchmark and provide the results in 24hrs. I told them specifically not to fix the problem and provide me a quote. They call me back in about 24 hrs with a invoice to pay for the fixes to the motor they did. I told the sales rep that I specifically asked not to fix, but they told me they cannot do anything about this and I need to make the payment. They mentioned that the person who takes the motor and the person who fixes are not the same and there is no communication between the two. Why do I pay for the issues B & B Pools have internally? Buyers beware before you ask for services to be performed by them. read more

Had my first interaction with these guys today and was very impressed! They were very supportive and quickly got me what I needed. Then I had to run back later in the day with what I thought was a bad vacuum. The tech at the counter pulled the vacuum apart and checked it over for me and even gave me a spring that was missing. We tried several pool stores around us when we moved to Tempe. B&B is FAR SUPERIOR to the others. The customer service is excellent, they always have the parts and the information you need. Great integrity. Dropped off a pool pump that was tripping an internal breaker every time I turned it on. When I dropped the pump off at B&B to be fixed, the staff said they would look at it but also said that in almost all cases, this behavior meant that motor would need to be replaced -- nearly $200 but cheaper than a new pump. I did not think that the motor was burned out; but I have had good experience with B&B in the past and would see what they found when they worked on it. Well, when I went to pick up the pump, I was expecting them to say they had to replaced the motor and was prepared to make them prove it was really broken... But instead, the charge was under $25 which covered the O-rings and gaskets that were ready to be replaced since the pump was over 6 years old. Needless to say, I was very happy with this. So I agree with Tony A -- best pool store in the valley and trustworthy. read more

I'm a new pool owner and on a strong recommendation from a friend, I've been to B&B half a dozen times before and after my pool was finished (to ask equipment questions before and chemical questions after) and each and every time they've given me helpful, thorough information. I've even called and been given advice over the phone. Very helpful, matter of fact and professional. I've been to Leslie's and feel like I'm on a car lot - do yourself a favor and go to B&B. Questionable business practices. I went in there looking at automatic cleaners for my pool. I was shown one, and was told it was the *last one* they had in stock and that if I wanted it, I better get it. I purchased it. I then went back after a half hour because I forgot to get shock. There they were telling the same story, for the same cleaner, of *Last one* in stock, to some guy, so you better buy it! I hung around to see if he bought it. (He did) Needless to say, I doubt I'll be going back there again, since I can't trust what they say. read more

Been buying chemicals off and on here for awhile, the prices aren't great and the staff can be hit or miss. The parking situation is awful but they are very nice about wheeling your chemicals out to the curb. We recently had some service done by B&B and this is where they are truly awful. The technician was not friendly at all and didn't want to answer any of our questions. This is after we paid $75 just for him to come out and the repair took only 5 minutes (this after they convinced us on the phone that it was a complicated repair that we should have them do.) I don't trust this company and wouldn't recommend them to a friend. They are okay for buying chemicals but definitely don't use them for service or parts. read more

I used B & B's pool service today. The technician was unable to free the clog from my pool lines without the added expense of a high powered nitrogen compressor. He did tighten the band that attaches the pump to the unit by replacing a nut. The owner of B & B offered to refund me the $75 service charge since I didn't get my pool clog cleared. read more

We've been going exclusively to B & B Pools since we moved to Tempe over 15 years ago. The friendliness and professionalism, not to mention incredible knowledge, of all of their staff is incredible and most appreciated. As a shining example, this past weekend I went in to ask questions about our cartridge pool filter which had sprung a massive leak at the center clamp. Not being that handy myself, I clumsily asked a few questions and was given some possible solutions, ending up trying a new large o-ring gasket. When I arrived home to install, I was unable to reclose the filter tight enough to screw down the clamp. Tried every possibility. Went back to B & B, who gave me a couple other ideas for solutions. Tried those too, to no avail. Went back one more time to B & B at wit's end. Elliot (my new B & B hero), was at a loss as well, along with two other techs who were there at the time. They all agreed that Elliot should drive over to our house and take a look. After the two of us messed with it for a while, we ended up putting the old o-ring back on and resealing the clamp. It worked and (for now) no leaks. What kind of corporate-owned business would have a tech go out to a customer's home, at no charge, and help them fix a problem?! B & B, you're the best! read more

I am writing this review based on my mother's own experience at this pool store. So for context my mom is an amateur when it comes to managing her pool (for simplification, she does not know everything about the ins and outs of a pool), so she comes to the store to buy their supplies and to ask questions and advice. Lately my mom has encountered rude staff and even the owners who make rude comments and degrade my mom for not knowing as much information about pools and equipment as they do. It went as so far as the female owner, Brenda, to make an inappropriate comment to my mom when asking her which is the best brush handle and stick to use -- a simple question that was received by the owner with such harsh criticism. I had the opportunity to go in the store with my mom and ask the male owner Brent why my mom has been treated this way -- whether it was because of their ageism or whatever -- and he had no response or apology. My mom's experience at this store is really sad to hear considering she has been going to this store for over the twenty years since we have been living at the Lakes. We hope they will treat their customers better. read more

I can't say enough about this place. I was having a rough time for the last month trying to get rid of the algae in my pool. They were super helpful through the whole thing, going through each step to get it cleared up. I was told by one of the big name stores that it was probably my sand and that I needed to change it out, which was not the case, the sand is still in good shape. The woman I talked to at B and B told me I had an algae that was resistant to chlorine and that I needed a different algaecide than I used the last 3 weeks ago and the pool cleared by the next day! I will always get my pool products, and advice from B and B!! read more

I've lived in Tempe for about 41 years and been using B&B for about as long. Chuck used to own it and then he retired and his daughter took over. She didn't miss a step. Same down home attitude from the "old days" and the prices and knowledge are great. If you need to empty your pool, check out the price and then call home depot or any rental outfit. Please see all of the other comments above about knowledge, experience, & customer service. I did what someone else above did. I tried a couple Leslie's locations, and received varying recommendations that were ineffective ( and actually fairly expensive ). B&B's advice remedied my issue for about 10-20 bucks, and I had it "fixed" that afternoon. I have been going there for years now. Great staff. Great advice. It is like dealing with family.
