**SCOTT TALLEY - BEWARE** I was recently given a recommendation from B&B Pools for our pool deck repair / surface. They provided Scott Talley. Scott came out to our house and reviewed the job and took all the measurements. We agreed to move forward and have him do the job. He showed up and began painting one of our pool boulders which wasn't even close to being what we originally had (he was using blood red). Shortly after he started doing that, he called me and informed me he was walking off the job, with no legitimate reason for doing so. Not sure how a contractor does something like this but now we are stuck with and incomplete job and a half-painted pool boulder. With that said, beware of Scott Talley and do business with him at your own risk. I have also alerted the B&B staff regarding referring this guy moving forward. read more

I went into B&B Pools a while back looking for a recommendation for someone to come out and replace a few broken tiles in my pool. I was handed a card for "Cactus Valley Products & Services Scott Talley. B& B said he did great work. I called Mr. Talley and he was only too happy to come out the very next day and ended up replacing over a dozen tiles. His fee was very reasonable I thought and included the tiles. He was done in 2 hours and cleaned up very well. I knew I could get a good recommendation from B&B. read more

This place is located on SE corner of Baseline and McClintock. It is located in the corner near a pet boarding place and Little India. I thought it was a pool repair place but they also sell pool supplies and equipment. I called them because my pump was leaking and they told me they were booked for the next 10-14 days. But the guy said take some pictures and come into the store and they will take a look and see if they could tell me what to do and save some money. So I took the pictures and went in. They told me some parts needed to be replaced. They told me it wasn't difficult to take it apart and which bolts to take out. I did watch a YouTube video. I just searched "how to take apart Pentair pool pump." The pump was a little different but key aspects are make sure the power supply is off from the fuse box because you need to detach some wires (see photo). You do need to mark the wires so you reattach them correctly. I used a permanent marker to mark one red (see photo). Then I took it in and they replaced the worn out parts for $32. I dropped it off in the morning and picked it up the same afternoon. It definitely would have cost over $100 if someone came to the house plus would have had to wait at least a week. Another important fact, make sure the filter vent is open when you turn the power supply back on. Because when I switched on the power, the pump started immediately and there was a lot of air in the system. And you need to make sure the air in the system can get out when the water enters otherwise it could explode. Just like when you backwash the filter. Anyway they saved me a lot of time and money. read more

I've been coming to B & B pools since I bought my first house while in college in 1990. Chuck was the owner then and his son and daughter own it now. What I loved about it then, hasn't changed at all. Like some of the other reviews here, I was in a bit of a pickle with a broken pool pump motor. I was seriously contemplating buying a new pump system, and had been told that I needed a variable speed pump which would cost at least $1250 to install (and was off brand). Well, of course, I don't have those kind of funds, so I went to yelp for help, and found B&B pools. The dilemmas on the reviews were the same as mine! Suddenly, I realized my motor could be saved. I called, then sent in a few pictures and a video of my pump system, with my motor noise. The guy on the end said that it sounded like the capacitor may be the problem and he could tell by looking at it...and that I could easily take that off and bring it to him because there were only two screws to take off. I was nebulous but armed with my 12-volt dewalt, I easily got the screws off the top. I sent in another picture of my capacitor and he confirmed the diagnosis, and sent me a picture of what I needed to bring in, so that I would know how to take the wires off the capacitor...such excellent service, I was already impressed! Next he said that he had that capacitor in stock and it would cost $16.99! Well, I rushed over ... on a 2 hour drive from Tucson to Tempe (I had a class in Phoenix, so it was on the way, but now I'd go for a special trip, if needed!). I got the capacitor and was shown the difference in a bad vs good capacitor...very helpful again! I just put in the capacitor and the motor roared back into service with my vacuum and skimmers coming to life again. Needless to say, I couldn't be happier! I feel like I hit the lottery with B&B (after finding that the builders of the pool were no longer in service, I was getting distraught). They are awesome! And to top it off, I got a small bottle of fresh bee honey for $2 at the store, since the cashier has a home colony of bees! I really am impressed by all of the guys I spoke to and met at the store. They were awesome...and saved me a bundle of money, not to mention the mental anguish! I checked out the prices of pumps while I was there, and they are far more reasonable than the local prices that I was quoted. If ever I do need a new pump, I know where to go. I scheduled "pool school" for a home we bought with confusing systems. Dave came over to assist in training us on our "stuff". He was courteous and didn't talk down to us. We knew our last system, so enough to be dangerous with this one, but he was able to navigate what we knew to learn about this unit without making us look like idiots. In our discussion, we learned that we were out of their "zone" but he didn't want to break the appt when he learned the appt location. He referred us to two other providers who are in our area for further repair options if we weren't going to DIY. We are bummed that Dave will not continue to be our "pool guy". My Story The pipe to my pool-vacuum was clogged. My pool was a total wreck the day after a big dirty monsoon storm. I tried to unclog the pipe and made it worse. I scheduled a service call w/ B&B but the first available was in ~5 days. The scheduler advised me there's a tool that goes on the end of your hose to help unclog the pipe. It worked. Pool cleaned. I'm a big fan of B&B pools. I think you will be too. read more

I'm typically a DIY kinda guy so I always hesitate to hire service for anything. But there is a time in your life that 24 hours a day is simply not enough, then your pool filter starts to leak. I yelped "Pool Service" near Chandler and B & B has pretty good reviews. I called them and everything was pleasant from there on out.. I got the call when they said they were going to call. I had the pleasure of working with John who quickly diagnosed the issue and said that he will be back the next day with the right part. I told him that I prefer a morning appointment so that I can still go to work. He shifted his day around came in at 6AM. Initially he estimated the work will be around 1.5 hours of labor, but he finished quickly saving me some cash. The best pool service! I will keep this company in my phonebook, I highly recommend them. I rate them a 5 star because Yelp doesn't have a 6th. read more

Had them install all new equipment on a 12,000 gallon in-ground pool. Got all the latest: variable-speed pump, salt chlorination, Wifi automation, cartridge filter, colored lights. After calling three different pool contractors who specialize in remodels, and not hearing back from a single one, I decided to ask at B&B, which I've used for years for pool supplies and parts. They got Dave out within a day for an estimate, the price was reasonable, and he could get out in a week to do it (and this was right around Thanksgiving). Man, did it go well! Dave did beautiful work, communicated everything so clearly, listened to everything I said, cleaned up meticulously, and was on time and on quote. And when the new LED light wasn't available on installation day, he got the Hayward rep to drop one off at his home that day and installed it the next morning (props to Hayward!). I understand the review is quite long, so I will give a brief summary of the review. Extremely poor customer service, and as a repeat customer I will never use B & B again. Future customers beware. First let's talk about the positives: I had a new pump installed for my pool this week because the old one was not running well. The process was straight-forward, the technician came on time, wore a mask and was friendly. The process took about 1 hour to complete, and he showed me how to use the pump before leaving. Over all no complaints about the new pump. Now let's talk about why this is a one-star review: I have a Pentair IntelliChlor system for my in-ground pool, and the electricity was routed through the pump originally. I don't know why it was set up that way when we bought the house, but perhaps to allow the salt cell to be on only when the pump was on, in order to protect the salt cell. The technician must not have been familiar with the setup and did not hook up the wires for the Intellichlor through the pump after he was finished installing the new pump. I was busy that day and didn't pay attention to my salt system before the technician left. A couple of days later I noticed my salt system was not turning on any more. I called B & B asking someone to come out to take a look at the system. I got a straight no from B & B, stating the Intellichlor system has nothing to do with the pump and therefore they would not help me. I bought the IntelliChlor system from B & B 3 years ago, so I wonder why they tried to push away all responsibility; clearly they knew how it worked 3 years ago. I politely asked someone to come out to take a look because I know the Intellichlor system is related to the pump in my pool. B & B agreed but said it would be a regular service visit and it would cost me $95 or more, and they probably couldn't fix it anyway. I was very frustrated because I just paid $1200 for B & B to install a pump 2 days ago, and they wouldn't even consider taking a look make sure everything was hooked up properly. I ended up spending a day trouble-shooting myself, figured out what was wrong, rewired the system, and everything worked again. read more

Earlier this year I decided I had had enough of the big chain pool store. Knowing I was going to be updating my pool equipment, I set out to find a new store that could also handle the job. I read the reviews for B&B and decided to give them a try. I'm sure glad I did. When you talk to the people at B&B you can tell you're dealing with honest people. I really appreciate all the pool equipment pricing clearly marked even the install fees both of which are quite a bit lower than the national chain. I had Kyle come out and give me a quote and there were no surprises or any attempt to sell something I did not need. What was a surprise was when I agreed to the install Kyle never asked for me to sign anything. Bear in mind I was not a long established customer. I think I had bought 2 cases of acid up until that point. A handshake was our contract. When Kyle arrived to do the install everything was perfect and he set up a program to get me started since I was new to a variable speed pump. He answered all my questions and the work was expertly done. Recently I brought my pool cleaner in for repair and had the same type of experience. All fixed at a very reasonable price. Honest. Had an outstanding experience here today. Brought my pump motor in as it was giving error codes. Dave P immediately took it and bench tested it in front of me, and told me the motor is running fine, and I should check the power to my house. Sure enough, I had an electrician come over and he was dead right. He easily could've sold me a new pump that day, but instead he solved my problem for $0. Not only have they had the true Jedi Knight of pools Chuck Naverson, but when I was with them they had over 115 years of experience working at the store on a daily basis. I worked for Chuck from 2000-2002 and moved on and left the state, but on return I decided to move back into the industry, and with the experience I gained from B&B I've got a new future. I live in Goodyear, but if I lived the east valley I'd beg for my job back. To this day I've never met anyone who knows as much about pools and how to maintain, fix and work them like the staff of B&B Pools. When Chuck flew me out to Las Vegas for the national pool and spa convention at the Hilton Hotel I knew Chuck was a pool God by the amount of respect he got from everyone who knew and everyone seemed to know him. Our experience with B&B Pools was excellent. With the stresses of something going wrong with our first pool and the urgency to get it fixed in a timely and affordable manner, it was a breath of fresh air to do business with them. With several quotes from a couple other companies, B&B pools was the most affordable for the same products we needed replaced, and were actually able to get it done the quickest. Not only did they come out to inspect quickly, but they repaired everything just a day later. Tom was friendly, communicative and knowledgeable with any questions we had.
