I finally decided to try this place. I decided to go with a seasonal drink. I got the pumpkin pie coffee. There is a line that starts outside and I got in line. It goes by quickly. There were menus outside so I can decide what to order once I'm inside. I placed my order with one person and then I went to the other side where I paid. I also ordered a salt bread because it looked good. Overall, would definitely come back to try other drinks. There is parking lot. I was able to find parking in the morning. There's not much seating inside.
Popular coffee spot in OC - went on a Tuesday morning & there was still a line! Parking is easy - big parking lot. The shop is structured as a grab & go coffee spot- no indoor seating. You line up in front & get called to order & pay then wait for your drink outside. Workers were friendly & efficient! less than 5 min wait for my drink despite the growing line. It would be a perk if they had a seating area though (we need more 3rd spaces!!!). I got the coconut water matcha cream & I like how they used pink coconut water (iykyk!!) & the matcha cream was nice & consistent! I liked how refreshing this drink was! I would come back if I'm in the area again!
Saturday morning, 12pm, line is about a 10-15 minute wait but it goes by fast. First visit here, wasn't sure what to order but decided that we will do one coffee and one matcha. Pumpkin Pie Matcha 5/5 - the pumpkin sauce pairs well with the matcha once mixed. Matcha has a great color and taste. I would have added a cream top but forgot. Banana Coffee 3.5/5 - I have had banana coffee in the past at other places but I'm not sure how to feel about this one. I did feel it was bitter and has a weird after taste. My husband liked it and also pointed towards it nuttiest taste with the toffee. Since it's his drink here is his rating - 4.5/5 I think it comes down to your love for bananas lol
You can taste the quality and strength of the coffee and savor the slight sweetness, creaminess, and slight saltiness of the drink. Most people in the line are there for the matcha, so plan to try that next time. I do see them stirring the fresh matcha rigorously. Arrive early, as the line gets longer the later you come in the morning. The line does move pretty fast. Service is quick.
Finally got to try Ayer because the line is usually long when we pass by, but today we had the time to wait. Ordered the mango matcha, matcha two, salted saigon, and salt bread. The matcha two and salt bread were solid, but the salted saigon tasted fantastic. The mango matcha didn't taste as expected, but maybe it's because mango isn't in season. I personally wouldn't get it again. Overall Ayer was good, but will definitely need to come back to try other matcha drinks. The line usually goes out the door so definitely recommend coming early. They will call you when to come in and order, otherwise it'd be way too crowded inside. Ambiance: There is no seating inside the cafe so you just come and pick up your drink/bread and leave. Only salt bread is offered food wise.
I waited 45 min on a Friday afternoon for a drink, which I had anticipated because of the long line. The parking lot is spacious & there are several reminders to not block the entrance of other businesses. The pumpkin matcha was great, but it doesn't justify the wait as it has a similar flavor to other coffee shops. They also give a complimentary tote bag, if you ask! I also got a blueberry matcha, not pictured here, but it was overly sweet. The interior is small & you cannot study inside. It is mainly just grab & go. The music was great! Not sure when I will be back, but I look forward to trying other items!
Always a line here, but it moves pretty fast! Usually only takes about 10-15 minutes. The matcha has a strong, rich flavor, and you can tell it's good matcha just by looking at that beautiful green color. Parking is easy too, and I love the girls working here! They're so sweet. The store is a little small, but super cute and cozy! Definitely worth the wait.
As someone in OC I had to see what the hype was about - 35 min later in 100° weather, I finally found out! Honestly just as good as I expected. The coconut water matcha cream was sooo good. So refreshing with great quality matcha cream. The color was gorgeous and the flavors were perfect together. My partner got the coconut iced blended coffee and it was super tasty and coconutty! Good coffee flavor too. The girls working here are also super sweet and helpful. Would come again, just need to brace myself for the line lol!
Ayer Coffee is constantly touted as one of the best matcha spots in the OC. After a while waiting on the sidelines due to the massive lines I passed by, I finally came at a good time where it wasn't too long of a wait and came away impressed. Ayer Coffee is located in the middle of a Tustin small strip mall plaza. It's a pretty small shop with very limited seating inside and usually a line waiting outside. I came in the middle of the day on a weekday around 1PM where the line wasn't too bad but grew quickly right after I left. You wait outside until you're called in to order with a menu waiting for you at the window. Ayer has a variety of coffee drinks, but I was here for the matcha which they conveniently number in order along with seasonal/special drinks. As always for me, I order the standard iced matcha latte without any syrups. Service was super kind all around. Getting the drink took about 5 minutes. All-around, I can see why people enjoy the matcha, even at the base drink level. The size is a good standard cup for about $7, and the matcha is very noticeable without being too grassy / earthy. It had a well balanced consistency and think it was mixed with solid oat milk that didn't overpower the matcha. Ayer sources their own matcha which they also sell. Overall, came away impressed that it met the hype!
Came here on a Friday afternoon and the line was pretty healthy. Finding a parking spot wasn't bad and we waited about 30 mins. Not much of an ambience since you just order and wait for your drinks. My wife and I ordered the pumpkin pie matcha and salted Saigon. The drinks came out super quick! BELIEVE THE HYPE. Both of these drinks were AMAZING. The pumpkin puree was real and tasted like actual pumpkin, unlike the other coffee spots that sell fake pumpkin sauce. The salted saigon is probably the best Vietnamese coffee I've ever had. No exaggeration.
I wanted to hate this place because how long the wait was but when we finally got to the front we got a matcha 2, and a Saigon drip. I'm so upset the matcha here was so fire cause now I have to wait in the stupid long line again. Coffee was good too very nutty but the matcha was the star so def recommend getting one. Service was also very nice, she brought our drinks out to us.
I was impressed by the variety of coffee and matcha drinks that are here! You could have a range of fruity and tropical drinks to more rich, spice forward drinks. Because it was Summer, I opted for the guava Matcha because it sounded very refreshing. I was surprised with how not too sweet and light it was, but it was still packed with wonderful guava flavor. I was more impressed that they hand whisk every Matcha drink in a bowl, but still, they deliver with speed, efficiency, and quality. My sister got the Matcha with banana and that one was very good. You can tell they use real banana. My only thing is I believe the bananas weren't ripe enough, but I know that it is hard to always have the perfect ripeness for bananas because of demand. This is definitely a grab and go establishment. There is no inside seating or bathrooms. I do advise you to use the bathroom before because all the restaurants nearby will not allow you to use the restroom unless you make a purchase. I definitely want to try the coffee drinks next time because their name has coffee in the title so I should try what they are known for by name!
OVERALL : This was my second time at Ayer. The first time I tried their classic matcha latte w/ matcha foam, mango matcha, and strawberry matcha. The drinks were perfectly creamy esp w/ oat milk, and matcha was strong enough to hold up against all the different flavors. There's always a line out the door on a weekend afternoon, but we only waited about 20 mins and the drinks were well worth the wait. Service was super friendly and helpful w/ reccs. Note that this is more of a take-and-go spot, not for sitting inside. PARKING : There is a parking lot but it is small; might need to make some rounds before you can find a spot. The plaza gets pretty crowded during peak hours! FOOD/DRINKS : Guava Matcha Latte - sweet and refreshing, the guava doesn't overpower the matcha taste and it's a good summer drink! strawberry is prob still my go to though when I want a fruity matcha Pumpkin Matcha Latte - their fall seasonal drink! so surprisingly good - this reminded me of a pumpkin pie esp with the prominent pumpkin taste + the warm fall spices! Would def get again.

Really good coffee and matcha from a quaint little cafe. Their banana lattes were delicious, nice strong Vietnamese coffee with a good amount of banana cream on top. + for the slices of banana and toffee they add on top. The matcha blueberry is definitely one of the most unique drinks from here, and it was pretty refreshing, not very sweet and the matcha definitely subdued the blueberry flavor. Definitely worth a try! read more

Came on a Sunday at about 10:30 AM and there was a long line, but it moves quickly! Once the order is made, the drinks are brought out to you with little wait. The banana matcha had a real banana taste. It comes with a banana foam, toffee nut bits and a banana slice on top. I wouldn't say the actual matcha is that sweet but mixing or sipping from the top it was great. They do tell you they can make adjustments if you need them. The mango matcha my boyfriend really likes! It comes with mango puree and mango juice. The other drinks we've tried in the past we remember being great too. Gotta come back and try other things! Salt bread was sold out when we got there :( No real sit down area other than a small bench inside the store. The staff is nice, but one suggestion I'd make is that when you first walk in, a person writes your order on a cup, but the person checking you out doesn't know your order so you do have to repeat it. It'd be nice to make this process more seamless. read more
Currently in their soft opening phase, we decided to check out Ayer Coffee and we weren't disappointed. There was a small line when we arrived around 2:30pm and it took us about 20 - 25 minutes to get through. We decided to get the "Coconut Iced Blender Coffee" ($7) and the "Matcha Two" ($8). The price for the drinks felt a bit on the stiff end, but they were delicious and really refreshing. We ordered them with a bit less sweetness and it was just right. Service was also friendly which added to our experience. Ayer is located in an older strip mall and the parking availability was decent. Just keep in mind the store is a bit on the smaller end so there is no indoor seating available. There are a couple of tables outside however. read more
My new favorite matcha spot close to home! All my other favorite are a bit further in Garden Grove or Westminster, so I'm glad Ayer is close by The first time I went, I got the matcha two It was SO GOOD!! I love how truly matcha-y it tasted, and it had the perfect amount of sweetness- just a touch of it to allow the matcha taste to shine. The second time I went, I got their mango matcha I was a bit indecisive because I loved their matcha two, but this drink was also popular. After trying it, I was so glad I went with it! They did warn me that it would be more of a mango forward drink, and that is true. It tasted heavily of mango, but with a touch of matcha, which was honestly a nice change! It was delicious, and super refreshing. The mango puree they use does not taste artificial or too sweet at all. I really liked it! The staff is so nice! The one taking my order offered to get me a new drink if I didn't like mine- I wasn't going to put them through that trouble but that was so nice of them! The interior is very small, only big enough for a few people to fit in and order. There is a small bench inside. There are some small tables with chairs outside, but it's not much, and there's no other seating around. That's the only downside of this place I'd say. Some people say the wait takes them 30 minutes! I went once after bit after its opening time, and once a bit before closing, and both times the line was somewhat short. I didn't have to wait too long. I'm a bit nervous for their grand opening because it's only going to get so much busier from here but they deserve all the success! I really hope they open a bigger store soon read more

I've been wanting to go here for a while now and luckily i went at a good time, no line at all! The barista at the bar gave us some recommendations! We got the Matcha 2, Mango Matcha, and Coconut Water Matcha. The drinks are really good! The Matcha 2 was a good balance of not too sweet but not bitter. The perfect double matcha. 8.5/10 I was skeptical about Mango Matcha since I've never had this combo and it was good! The mango overpowers the matcha which i don't mind at all. It's clear that the mango purée was made with real fruit! 8/10 The coconut water matcha was pink which was a surprise! The flavor of the coconut water wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad at all. It's good for something refreshing. 7.5/10 read more
Ordered and waited outside. No seating really. The coconut pandan sticky rice drink sounded intriguing, but it was a 2/5 for me. It was incredibly sweet and the blended rice was unfortunately not a pleasant texture. Pandan was weak. The drink reminds me of Vietnamese che but not as good. I threw away my drink after a sip. Matcha 2 was underwhelming. Drink was partially empty when ordered with less ice. It's also overpriced; I've had much better matcha with better value in OC. Overall, cute branding but I wouldn't return or recommend this place. read more

This review is specifically for the Coconut Pandan Green rice since I'm not too into matcha. Came here with friends since they wanted to check it out. Line was long but moved quickly. My order didn't take too long after to be out but definitely there can be a wait time for your drink - especially matchas. The coconut pandan green rice drink was refreshing and I liked the rice bits. But I don't think it's any different than other panda drinks at other places. And at $7.50 it's pretty pricey compared to others. There's nothing wrong with the drink itself but I didn't find anything that really stood out that would entice me to buy this over another places Pandan drink. Parking is rough - don't expect to find parking fast on a weekend. Highly recommend to carpool with friends and have them wait in line for you as you park. Not sure how it is on weekdays though. read more
ORDER matcha 2 (4.5/5) matcha mango (3.5/5) everyone was raving about this place, so i had to try!! im very picky about my matchas, but ayer met my expectations! the matcha 2 had a strong matcha taste, but i didn't like the salted matcha cream. it was super salty, which threw me off guard. regardless, the drink was very balanced once mixed it. next time, i'd get the matcha 1. im not the biggest fan of mango matcha, so the rating is a bit lower. the mango milk portion was good and didn't taste artificial. this was also a balanced drink. overall, this is definitely one of my top matcha places! it is on the pricier side tho :') SERVICE the wait was sooo long, almost 40 minutes on a wednesday afternoon. the staff were all super friendly and welcoming. they're very efficient and the drinks come out fast once you order. both drinks were definitely on the sweeter side. AMBIANCE very small inside, but there is a bench. more of a grab and go typa spot. plenty of parking, but can be hard to find a spot since they're super busy. read more
Drink: Matcha 1 | Coconut Water Matcha Creme Price: $7.00 Overall: 7/25/2025: Upon arriving on Friday, an hour before closing; the line was so long. They were in their soft opening during this time. The line moved not as fast but once we ordered, our drinks came quickly. The coconut water matcha creme appearance was pretty and the taste had a slight nutty taste but I never thought that it would taste good! The matcha 1 was really solid and yummy. read more
Can't believe this place is still only in their soft opening! Ayêr coffee has made its rounds on social media, and unfortunately for those who are impatient, it is Very much worth the wait. The inside of the cafe has minimal seating; it's pretty much a grab and go place. There's a counter you go to for your drinks order, then you go to the worker by the salt bread to reiterate your order and pay. The workers are super nice, and I think it was the owner (?) who was telling customers that they can remake their drinks for free if they weren't satisfied with them. All in all, Ayêr was worth the hype for me. The matcha two was the right amount of matcha and creaminess for me, and my dad enjoyed the salted saigon. We also got the salt bread, which had a nice crunchy bottom and crust, while the inside was nice and fluffy! Your best bet is to get there right as it opens if you want to avoid the line. Good luck! read more

Located in a small strip mall. parking was a bit difficult mostly cause it's just so busy and parking isn't huge. Came here on a Sunday afternoon about 2pm. Line was a ways out the door, about a couple businesses down. It was not a fast moving so I was hoping this place was worth the hype. From wait time to actually getting our order, it was about 45 mins! So, verdict...? 1. Coconut Pandan Green rice- 4 stars -not overly sweet, you taste the pandan, mellow coconut and surprisingly, rice bits. It was a blended drink that was refreshing but not sure if it'd be something would could drink fully. But overall nice surprise, felt like a light dessert. 2. Salted Saigon - 5 stars - if I were to come here again, this would be my go to. I loved the rich creaminess of it that balanced the coffee. 3. Banana coffee- 3 stars - I'm I huge banana coffee lover but this was a bit of a miss for me. You taste a nice fresh banana flavor, it just felt a bit heavy than refreshing. Overall my expectations were probably a bit higher considering the wait time and no online ordering option. I'm a matcha lover also but with the bountiful options of matcha places around Tustin / Irvine /costa Mesa, I'd choose another than waiting that long again. Drinks overall I'd give 4 stars but that wait is where I'd dock a star. Not worth it. read more

The matcha here is GOOD! I tried the banana matcha and the matcha itself wasn't too sweet and paired so nicely with the banana cream top. The only thing I wish was different was having a larger hole in the lid to be able to sip the drink through the lid instead of using a straw. Parking is easy but the actual store is very small. You line up outside the store and only enter when it's your turn to order. They bring the drinks outside to you when they are ready. Overall, a solid matcha spot that I would definitely come back to! read more

I absolutely love their Banana Matcha tastes really good. Their service is very good every time I go they are super friendly! Came here for their soft opening last weekend! Located in a plaza with a spacious parking lot. Easy to find spot on a Saturday morning! The coffee shop itself is a smaller space so they don't have any seating/table arrangements at the moment. This wouldn't be a place to sit down and study/work, but more of a grab-and-go situation. As for the drink itself, I opted for the Salted Saigon and it was phenomenal! I'm not usually a viet coffee person, but it was recommended by the barista and glad to say I was not disappointed. The salted vanilla cream hit so hard with the sweetness of the coffee, it was such a perfect blend! Depending on the time of day you might be waiting in a line, but it moves fast! It took about 15 minutes in total from waiting in line to getting the drink. I'll be back for more, especially since I heard they're bringing banana cream(?) matcha to their official menu once it's grand opening! read more
Totally worth the hype. My friends and I stopped by today just after 1pm. There was a small line to enter the shop but it went by relatively quick. Since the cafe is small, you place your order with a worker who would mark your cups and then head over to the cashier to pay. Then go outside and wait for another worker to hand you your drinks. Everyone who worked there was so polite and hospitable to each customer. The drinks were delicious -- we ordered the Matcha 2, Mango Matcha, and Coconut Pandan green rice. The Matcha 2 was rich and not too sweet, it became an instant favorite. My friend really loved her mango matcha. I personally loved the coconut pandan green rice; as a texture girly, I liked chewing the rice in my drink and it was perfect for a hot summer day. 10/10 coming again! read more
Got the matcha 2 which is their matcha latte with salted matcha foam on top and it was delicious. The matcha was a smooth blend not too sweet not too bitter and not too watery or too foamy. Literally perfect blend of matcha. Even though it has "salted matcha foam" it doesn't make the drink salty or anything it actually adds a perfect blend and aftertaste to the matcha. Came on a Saturday morning, got here 15 minutes before opening and there was already a line out the door. This place is more of a to-go place rather than sit-down since there's no tables inside and the shop is pretty small. The bread came in a cute little packaging and was pretty good! read more

If you came across this shop on tiktok, let me tell you it's worth the hype! Kind of far out and does typically have a line so quick heads up about that but overall, really good! I got the banana coffee that was perfect! I have a sweet tooth but this coffee was a good in between. I liked how you can still taste the coffee and the banana wasn't too overpowering. My brother got the saigon drip which was good as well. Coffee is reasonably priced IMO. I will definitely be coming back. read more
I've been obsessed with this place since my first sip and have gone almost daily this past week (5th visit and counting). Literally every single drink has been incredible. Their matcha menu is perfection. The Mango Matcha is so addictive - so refreshing and tastes like you're eating a whole fresh mango while sipping premium matcha. I've tried mango matcha at other spots, but this is hands down the best I've ever had. For other matcha drinks: Matcha One is your classic matcha latte done right, Matcha Two has that rich, sweet matcha cream that adds that richness if you're looking for something more creamy, and Matcha Three is a such a nice sweet treat with the matcha sorbet added. The Coconut Pandan Green Rice is perfect when you want something dessert-like without caffeine - reminds me of Vietnamese Che but in drinkable form. The texture and flavor combo is *chef's kiss*. Staff is incredibly friendly and efficient. Despite the lines (which move quickly!), drinks come out fast. I finally got to meet the owners and they're genuinely the sweetest people - you can tell they truly care about what they're doing. They sell their own matcha tins and coffee beans, but get there early because they sell out fast due to limited supply! Also tried their salt bread - the perfect buttery balance that pairs amazingly with the drinks. Already planning my weekly visits and have been dragging all my friends here. Cannot wait for their grand opening next month - this place deserves all the success! If you're a matcha lover (or even if you're not), you NEED to check this spot out. read more

I came across this place here on Yelp so I decided to try it while I was in the area. It's a tiny coffee shop with no seating area other than a bench they have inside. Most people wait for their coffee outside. The girls there are pretty friendly and they have a ton of area where they can prepare coffee, which is awesome for them. I wasn't able to try any of their Korean salt bread since it was sold out, but I ended up grabbing a banana coffee. I asked for it less sweet. It's strong coffee! I will say that. The flavor is great and I like that they make their banana cream in House. I would definitely come back but maybe next time I would try their banana Matcha. read more

I went around 11:30 and there was no line. Unfortunately there was no more salt bread, so I will have to try that next time! The staff was super nice and helpful when ordering and recommending choices. I ordered the mango matcha and matcha two. The mango flavor was really strong with a hint of matcha. There was mango fibers in the drink if you're wary of textures in your drink. I didn't mind it. Made it taste more like real mango~ the matcha two was just right. Not too sweet, but on the milkier side. I'd like to try the matcha three next time! There's no indoor seating only a bench for waiting, so more of a grab and go cafe~ read more

Had this place on my list for a while and finally went. It was soooo good! The matcha is amazing and such a strong flavor. They have quite a few options to choose from. I loved the entire drink and was so filling - I will say the salted top wasn't my favorite but could definitely change that. It does start to get busy around noon so keep an eye out. Went during soft opening on a Sunday around noon and it was fairly busy. The inside only allows for 2 customer parties at a time where they take your order inside then you step outside and wait for your order. I got the matcha 1 which is a matcha latte with oat milk and sea salt vanilla syrup. The matcha taste was prominent but could've been stronger because the vanilla was really overpowering the matcha. A little too sweet and too strong of vanilla for my Liking but I'm optimistic and will try this place again for diff drinks read more
this place is solid & very nice customer service some things to mention: no indoor seating more like a togo counter only oatmilk & whole milk offered no bathroom parking can be hit or miss i got the blueberry matcha w no added sweetener (just the puree) it was still pretty sweet but overall its v yummy! it's definitely worth checking out since they use good quality matcha also the line moves pretty quick, i think it just looks crazy bc there really isn't space for any indoor line but can definitely be a down side if you don't want to wait. read more

We came around 2PM and lucky enough to be the first few in line since crowds came in waves. Staff was really nice and you first tell the baristas the drink you'd like and the pay for it with another person at the register. It is a very small shop that's more so for pickup since there's a bench to wait for your drink and two tables outside. I ordered the matcha 2 which had the matcha vanilla cream. At first I thought the drink was a tad sweet for my liking with a good amount of bitterness, but as I started to drink more it felt like it was getting more bitter which allowed the cream to level it out. I'd definitely come back and hope they expand their hours ! read more

Ayer coffee lived up to its hype for me. Owners. Super nice. Everyone here was friendly. Salted viet coffee. Not too sweet not too thick like some places. Really enjoyed this drink Matcha. Was also excellent. Comes with oat milk. But next time I might ask for whole milk. Good quality matcha you can taste. Not too sweet. Excellent drink Gets pretty busy. New hours starting this Friday. Finally opening up earlier at 10am. Plenty of parking. Might be tougher during peak lunch hour. But overall great experience here read more

This place is very hyped on social media But honestly, the drinks are just mediocre. They aren't that good, but they're pretty good. They have a pretty wide selection, and I'd say it's a pretty fun selection too. The staff are usually very welcoming and friendly, but the drinks honestly just aren't worth the line and aren't really worth the price because there's so many other better cafes in this area. I've been here on multiple occasions and I got the mango matcha and recently I got the blueberry matcha and they were just okay. You can taste the matcha quality and it's pretty good, but honestly the purees is just don't hit for me read more
I liked the coconut matcha, but not as big of a fan of the hojicha, even though it was recommended by the staff there. The line was a bit long and there isn't any real seating inside. I'd only go if there wasn't a line, otherwise I'm not sure it's worth the trek to try their drinks. read more

I ordered the matcha three, and it was so good I wish I didn't finish it so quickly. My favorite parts were the salted vanilla matcha cream and matcha sorbet. Because it was a soft opening and this place blew up on social media, the line was busy. I thought the order was interesting because they took my order first at the front counter then had to pay at the right counter. I don't know if it's easier for flow to just order and pay at the same place. And they hand delivered the drinks to you while you wait outside. However, the staff were really nice. It's the soft opening right now. I came on a Saturday at 12 (so right when they open) and there was a line. It took us about 20 minutes to get our drink, but this was expected. I'm usually a coffee girl but I was craving something light and strong. I got a Matcha 1 and a salt bread. I ate the salt bread while waiting. Nice salty-ness but kind of doughy and not in an airy way. Not the best I've had but satisfied a craving. The bag was super cute though. The Matcha 1 comes with oat milk which is great. Drinking from the top = just oat milk taste. Please use straw to get nice matcha flavor. It's not the best best I've had, but it's a solid spot. My sister had the Matcha 2 and hers tasted less sweet than mine. I didn't really taste the saltyness of the foam (it's supposed to be a salted matcha foam). The service was really nice of course. read more

A lovely popular place! The matcha is very simple with fresh flavors mixed in. I would say if you're craving something not too sweet, something simple, and something fresh, this is the place for you!
