I finally decided to try this place. I decided to go with a seasonal drink. I got the pumpkin pie coffee. There is a line that starts outside and I got in line. It goes by quickly. There were menus outside so I can decide what to order once I'm inside. I placed my order with one person and then I went to the other side where I paid. I also ordered a salt bread because it looked good. Overall, would definitely come back to try other drinks. There is parking lot. I was able to find parking in the morning. There's not much seating inside.
Popular coffee spot in OC - went on a Tuesday morning & there was still a line! Parking is easy - big parking lot. The shop is structured as a grab & go coffee spot- no indoor seating. You line up in front & get called to order & pay then wait for your drink outside. Workers were friendly & efficient! less than 5 min wait for my drink despite the growing line. It would be a perk if they had a seating area though (we need more 3rd spaces!!!). I got the coconut water matcha cream & I like how they used pink coconut water (iykyk!!) & the matcha cream was nice & consistent! I liked how refreshing this drink was! I would come back if I'm in the area again!
Saturday morning, 12pm, line is about a 10-15 minute wait but it goes by fast. First visit here, wasn't sure what to order but decided that we will do one coffee and one matcha. Pumpkin Pie Matcha 5/5 - the pumpkin sauce pairs well with the matcha once mixed. Matcha has a great color and taste. I would have added a cream top but forgot. Banana Coffee 3.5/5 - I have had banana coffee in the past at other places but I'm not sure how to feel about this one. I did feel it was bitter and has a weird after taste. My husband liked it and also pointed towards it nuttiest taste with the toffee. Since it's his drink here is his rating - 4.5/5 I think it comes down to your love for bananas lol
You can taste the quality and strength of the coffee and savor the slight sweetness, creaminess, and slight saltiness of the drink. Most people in the line are there for the matcha, so plan to try that next time. I do see them stirring the fresh matcha rigorously. Arrive early, as the line gets longer the later you come in the morning. The line does move pretty fast. Service is quick.
Finally got to try Ayer because the line is usually long when we pass by, but today we had the time to wait. Ordered the mango matcha, matcha two, salted saigon, and salt bread. The matcha two and salt bread were solid, but the salted saigon tasted fantastic. The mango matcha didn't taste as expected, but maybe it's because mango isn't in season. I personally wouldn't get it again. Overall Ayer was good, but will definitely need to come back to try other matcha drinks. The line usually goes out the door so definitely recommend coming early. They will call you when to come in and order, otherwise it'd be way too crowded inside. Ambiance: There is no seating inside the cafe so you just come and pick up your drink/bread and leave. Only salt bread is offered food wise.
I waited 45 min on a Friday afternoon for a drink, which I had anticipated because of the long line. The parking lot is spacious & there are several reminders to not block the entrance of other businesses. The pumpkin matcha was great, but it doesn't justify the wait as it has a similar flavor to other coffee shops. They also give a complimentary tote bag, if you ask! I also got a blueberry matcha, not pictured here, but it was overly sweet. The interior is small & you cannot study inside. It is mainly just grab & go. The music was great! Not sure when I will be back, but I look forward to trying other items!
Always a line here, but it moves pretty fast! Usually only takes about 10-15 minutes. The matcha has a strong, rich flavor, and you can tell it's good matcha just by looking at that beautiful green color. Parking is easy too, and I love the girls working here! They're so sweet. The store is a little small, but super cute and cozy! Definitely worth the wait.
As someone in OC I had to see what the hype was about - 35 min later in 100° weather, I finally found out! Honestly just as good as I expected. The coconut water matcha cream was sooo good. So refreshing with great quality matcha cream. The color was gorgeous and the flavors were perfect together. My partner got the coconut iced blended coffee and it was super tasty and coconutty! Good coffee flavor too. The girls working here are also super sweet and helpful. Would come again, just need to brace myself for the line lol!
Ayer Coffee is constantly touted as one of the best matcha spots in the OC. After a while waiting on the sidelines due to the massive lines I passed by, I finally came at a good time where it wasn't too long of a wait and came away impressed. Ayer Coffee is located in the middle of a Tustin small strip mall plaza. It's a pretty small shop with very limited seating inside and usually a line waiting outside. I came in the middle of the day on a weekday around 1PM where the line wasn't too bad but grew quickly right after I left. You wait outside until you're called in to order with a menu waiting for you at the window. Ayer has a variety of coffee drinks, but I was here for the matcha which they conveniently number in order along with seasonal/special drinks. As always for me, I order the standard iced matcha latte without any syrups. Service was super kind all around. Getting the drink took about 5 minutes. All-around, I can see why people enjoy the matcha, even at the base drink level. The size is a good standard cup for about $7, and the matcha is very noticeable without being too grassy / earthy. It had a well balanced consistency and think it was mixed with solid oat milk that didn't overpower the matcha. Ayer sources their own matcha which they also sell. Overall, came away impressed that it met the hype!
Came here on a Friday afternoon and the line was pretty healthy. Finding a parking spot wasn't bad and we waited about 30 mins. Not much of an ambience since you just order and wait for your drinks. My wife and I ordered the pumpkin pie matcha and salted Saigon. The drinks came out super quick! BELIEVE THE HYPE. Both of these drinks were AMAZING. The pumpkin puree was real and tasted like actual pumpkin, unlike the other coffee spots that sell fake pumpkin sauce. The salted saigon is probably the best Vietnamese coffee I've ever had. No exaggeration.
I wanted to hate this place because how long the wait was but when we finally got to the front we got a matcha 2, and a Saigon drip. I'm so upset the matcha here was so fire cause now I have to wait in the stupid long line again. Coffee was good too very nutty but the matcha was the star so def recommend getting one. Service was also very nice, she brought our drinks out to us.
I was impressed by the variety of coffee and matcha drinks that are here! You could have a range of fruity and tropical drinks to more rich, spice forward drinks. Because it was Summer, I opted for the guava Matcha because it sounded very refreshing. I was surprised with how not too sweet and light it was, but it was still packed with wonderful guava flavor. I was more impressed that they hand whisk every Matcha drink in a bowl, but still, they deliver with speed, efficiency, and quality. My sister got the Matcha with banana and that one was very good. You can tell they use real banana. My only thing is I believe the bananas weren't ripe enough, but I know that it is hard to always have the perfect ripeness for bananas because of demand. This is definitely a grab and go establishment. There is no inside seating or bathrooms. I do advise you to use the bathroom before because all the restaurants nearby will not allow you to use the restroom unless you make a purchase. I definitely want to try the coffee drinks next time because their name has coffee in the title so I should try what they are known for by name!
OVERALL : This was my second time at Ayer. The first time I tried their classic matcha latte w/ matcha foam, mango matcha, and strawberry matcha. The drinks were perfectly creamy esp w/ oat milk, and matcha was strong enough to hold up against all the different flavors. There's always a line out the door on a weekend afternoon, but we only waited about 20 mins and the drinks were well worth the wait. Service was super friendly and helpful w/ reccs. Note that this is more of a take-and-go spot, not for sitting inside. PARKING : There is a parking lot but it is small; might need to make some rounds before you can find a spot. The plaza gets pretty crowded during peak hours! FOOD/DRINKS : Guava Matcha Latte - sweet and refreshing, the guava doesn't overpower the matcha taste and it's a good summer drink! strawberry is prob still my go to though when I want a fruity matcha Pumpkin Matcha Latte - their fall seasonal drink! so surprisingly good - this reminded me of a pumpkin pie esp with the prominent pumpkin taste + the warm fall spices! Would def get again.
Been seeing Ayer Coffee Roasters pop up on my TikTok a lot, and I finally got the chance to visit! I ordered the Banana Matcha and the Matcha Two -- both were delicious. You can definitely taste the quality and care that goes into their drinks. The staff were super friendly and helpful when ordering, which made the experience even better. The line was pretty long when I went, but honestly, I can see why. Totally worth the wait! I'll definitely be coming back to try more. read more
Ayer Coffee in Tustin is a matcha lover's dream! We tried the Matcha 2 and the Coconut Water Matcha, and both were seriously delicious--smooth, flavorful, and refreshing. Parking is pretty manageable, though just a heads-up, there's no seating inside. But the staff made the experience extra fun--they even gave us a cute orange bag for our cupholder, which was such a thoughtful touch! Perfect spot to grab a high-quality matcha to-go and brighten your day. read more

Ayer's matcha one which comes sweetened with oat milk. It is very sweet and I don't know if they do customizations but I would do half sweet next time if they did. It was very creamy too! The matcha was high quality. It had quite the line at 2:30pm but I don't think it was more than 10 minute wait to order and get the drink? Staff are very kind and cheerful. There is no seating at all. read more

Staff is very nice, and the ordering process is quick. You go to a barista and let them know what you want, and then you go and pay at the register. I think this is a very smart idea as you don't have to wait as long for your drink, even when there is a long line. The drinks itself are pretty good. They can be a tad pricey, but my matcha was well balanced. The bread was a 7/10. This isn't the shop's fault, but be weary of parking. Parking is very limited and there were multiple "jams" when we arrived. read more

Came an hour before closing and didn't realize they are still in their soft opening! We definitely had to wait in a long line, but once we got to ordering, our drinks came out within 5 minutes with a cute orange tote bag. I tried the Matcha One, Two, and Mango Matcha. The Matcha Two was definitely my favorite because of the matcha cream on top. The mango matcha was the one I was excited to try, but I didn't like the aftertaste of the mango purée. My friend wasn't able to decide which one he liked either because we kept coming back to the mango one to taste it. The drinks were still pretty solid! I think I'll have to give it another chance once everything is finalized. read more
A little late on the review for Ayer, but visited a little bit after the initial traction the cafe was getting when it first opened. I arrived a little bit before noon and the line wasn't too bad. The staff was very sweet, as I only waited about 10-15 mins to order but different staff came out and thanked me for waiting in line although I really didn't wait long. It's a pretty small cafe with no tables, so all you could pretty much do is order and then stand outside and wait till they called you. I ordered the mango matcha and the matcha two, which I absolutely loved the mango matcha as it had both puree and mango juice. The matcha two fell a bit short for me, but it might just be because I was expecting a more deeper matcha flavor. It was lighter despite it seeming otherwise. Would definitely go back for the mango matcha! read more
There was hype about this new shop that's known for their matcha. So, I was excited to check it out. The parking lot has a decent amount of spots. Come on a weekday, since I heard on weekends, it gets crowded! There was a small line when I came on a Wednesday around 11 am. They ask that you wait until you're called in, since the interior space is a bit tight. There's not a lot of seating inside the store, beside a side bench. You can see the workers working hard to make your drinks in the back. The workers were pretty friendly. They apologized for the wait, since the party in front of us had orderd 6 drinks. I decided to wait outside for my drinks. The worker came outside to hand me my drinks, which was appreciated. There are a few tables to sit outside and enjoy your drinks. My friend had ordered a Spanish phin coffee with less sweetness. I had ordered a mango matcha with whole milk. I actually enjoyed my friend's coffee better than my matcha. For me, the matcha was a bit too milky for me. Plus, I couldn't taste the matcha that well, since I felt the mango overpowered the matcha. The coffee was smooth and had the right amount of sweetness. I took a first sip of the coffee, and was craving for more. Well, the coffee shop's name is called Ayer coffee. Note that they're still in their soft opening, so they're still working on some things! I would definitely come back. I just wish there was a better way to line up, since I can see how the long lines can bother the other store fronts. read more

I have been wanting to try ayer for the longest time, and I was so happy to be in the area to finally try it! I came on a weekend afternoon, and the line was out the door, which I was expecting! I waited around 30 minutes, but my drinks came out pretty quickly. The workers were very kind and efficient. I got the Matcha Two ($8) and Matcha One ($7)! The Matcha Two was so cute with their logo design on top of the cream. The matcha was smooth and strong, and paired well with the cream top. read more
Ayer Coffee is currently undergoing their soft opening. The orders are to be placed at the bar straight ahead and checkout at the counter to the right side of the store. No online orders can be placed ahead of time as of right now. Consequently, wait times can be awhile but the friendly service more than makes up for it. By the time I finally got to place an order and a seat became available to wait, there was a long line right behind me. The drink quality definitely made it worthwhile. I ordered Matcha 2, which is one of their most popular items. I usually have to pay extra for oatmilk, which I didn't have to. The matcha latte wasn't too sweet, which I super appreciated. It had a nice milk froth on top and strong uji matcha flavor. What not to love? Lastly, there are plenty of free parking outside and Amex is accepted. Seats are limited inside and there are some sitting areas outside. I would love to revisit again in the future if I'm in the area again. read more
One thing about Ayer is that the staff and owners are genuinely so kind. They always make me feel welcomed, and it makes the whole experience really enjoyable. My go-to order is the Mango Matcha with Salted Vanilla Foam, it's so good. Their matcha is on the pricier side, but honestly, it's worth it. Just a heads up, it's really popular, so the line can get pretty long. read more

Worth the hype! I had originally tried to visit during their first few days of opening, but never wanted to wait in line. I came today around 3pm and waited less than 15 minutes to order! Now I know the line forms out the door since the inside is pretty small, with little seating. I ordered the Matcha One, which is their standard matcha latte. I'm happy to see that oat milk was included! My mom ordered the mango matcha latte. During this time, we waited outside the storefront for our drinks, and workers delivered them to us by calling our time. Despite the busy-ness, all the workers we talked to were super sweet and responsive to my questions! Note: I was told the salt bread typically sells out by 11am on weekends. As for our drinks, I really enjoyed the Matcha One. It was the right amount of creaminess and sweetness that I liked without losing the matcha flavor. I'd definitely get it again. I also liked the amount of matcha that they seemed to use (based off the overall color), but I like that there is an option for an additional matcha shot. I can't wait to be back soon to (hopefully) get my hands on their salt bread and try their other matcha drinks! read more

Been seeing this place pop up in my friends' stories and needed a little beverage after my trip to the farmers market so finally made it out here to give Ayer a try! I came on an early Saturday afternoon. Parking looks simple, but it gets packed with almost every car parked lining up for Ayer. The line was pretty long outside, but overall wait time was not bad at all, probably waited 10 min in line and another 5 min for the drinks. It's a small and cute cafe but no seating so take your drinks to go. The staff were really nice and looked like they enjoyed working there. I got the Matcha One with Salted Vanilla Cold Foam. Matcha One 9/10 - Upon first sip, the cold foam was salty, a bit more salty than I expected but it balanced the sweetness of the vanilla well. I got a sip of the matcha and it was definitely more on the traditional, not as sweet side, but for someone like me who is a casual matcha drinker and prefers sweeter drinks, this was really good for me! Allowed me to appreciate the deep and earthy matcha flavor with a hint of sweetness. Mixing the cream in made the drink light and creamy. I finished this drink in less than 5 minutes. Really impressed with the matcha quality here given that the time it took to make the drink was quick. You can catch a glimpse of them making each matcha fresh which I appreciate! read more

Fantastic place for an unique coffee. Went here for coffee to wake myself up before training in the area. Big & easy finding parking. The place is small since majority of space inside is for preparing coffee and others. There is a line outside that have to wait til the inside (order area) is or are (2 registers, order & pay) available. After ordering you have to wait outside for the orders once it completed, they will bring it out to you by calling your name. It's easy and fast and the menu is simple. The place is clean and organized, the staff are friendly and helpful. The coffee is fantastic and well prepared. You can tasted with care and well make to your liking. Really enjoyed it a lot. There is not really seat for dine in, it's for to go only. read more

Make sure you don't go at peak hours if you hate waiting (lunchtime). I got the Banana coffee and the Salted Saigon Drip. I loved the almonds and toffee combo of topping on the banana coffee I'd rate my coffee a solid (8/10) I do wish it had more banana in it. The Saigon was about a (7/10) it had lots of different notes but I would say it tastes like coffee and chocolate. read more
So glad a new matcha spot opened up! I got the matcha 1 with salted vanilla cream and loved how the matcha was strong while the drink itself was the perfect level of sweetness for me. I don't like super sweet drinks so it was just perfect! The matcha was very prominent and exactly what I look for when getting matcha. The salted cream was a nice touch on top as well. I hope they'll offer a matcha einspanner soon! I also was able to get a salted butter bread as I had arrived right at their opening time. The bread was perfectly salted and it was nice and fluffy inside. The line went by pretty quickly and the service was very nice as well. The inside of the shop itself is pretty small but it's very clean looking. Overall, I will be coming back here again for the matcha latte! read more
I tried this spot this past weekend after seeing it on Instagram and overall thought it was a good spot. The line was about a dozen people long outside the door and it took me about 10 minutes to get my order in, but it's notable that the line starts from the door. The drinks were ready another 5 minutes after ordering. The two owners were working up front were incredibly nice. For the drinks themselves, the Matcha two was my favorite of the drinks. The drink is a bit milkier than most other places, somewhat dampening the flavor of the matcha compared to the oat milk and vanilla, but it's good if you don't like your matcha drinks bitter at all. The mango matcha was ok - however the mango flavor felt like it overtook the matcha flavor too much to me. Finally I also tried the Salted Saigon which was pretty decent but not any different than a lot of other Vietnamese coffees in OC. Overall would definitely come back for the matcha two and would like to try the matcha three next time! read more

My second time stopping into Ayer was even better than the first! I tried their mango matcha. I've never had anything like it. Perfectly sweet, but not overpowering. Mango flavor balanced so well with the matcha. I can't wait to come back to try their other matcha offerings! read more

I was here at 8 am on a Friday, and I waited in line for 20 minutes to get my drink. It was worth it though. I never had mango matcha before so this is a new experience for me. Mango Matcha (10/10) - Whatever oat milk they use, it hits. It goes so well with the matcha. I also asked for less mango puree because I still want to taste more matcha flavor. It didn't disappoint. It is the perfect balance between mango and matcha. The full starts with the refreshing sweet mango flavor, and end with the nutty and slightly bitter matcha taste. I would come back again to try their other drink such as the guava matcha. read more

I was excited to finally come try their drinks specifically the mango matcha! I got mine with whole milk instead of oat and im not sure if i am a big fan. The mango overpowers the matcha almost completely so i can't really taste the quality of the matcha. Their service was amazing and i got my drink pretty quick. I definitely want to come back and try their matcha 2 so i can try their matcha by itself and see if i would have a better rating read more
Stopped by Ayer Coffee on my way to see my parents. When I arrived there was a line outside the shop. I stood in line for about 30 minutes, but let me tell you the coffee was worth the wait. When I walked in to place my order the barista was so friendly. She asked me if this was my first time here, it was. She explained to me that if my drink was too strong, they would make any adjustments to it. I ordered the Salted Saigon, a Vietnamese coffee with salted cream, it was perfection. The shop itself is small, it's located in a small strip mall off of McFadden. Parking is challenging but the coffee is worth it. Coffee 5/5 Service 5/5 *be prepared for a line and wait Ambiance 4/5 read more

Unfortunately, this place is so overhyped. It is not worth the wait in line. I got the Double Matcha and the Mango Matcha. Double Matcha - this had an overwhelming taste of artificial vanilla, to the point where I could barely taste the matcha. It was also just super sweet and creamy, too much. Mango Matcha - why was it sooo chunky? It wasn't like it was the bits and strings of fresh mango, but rather like literal chunks of hard mango pieces. It made the drink really unpleasant to drink. With so many new matcha cafes opening all over SoCal, there are plenty of other options that you don't have to wait so long in line for. read more
I tried something a little different at Ayer Coffee Roasters and it ended up being one of the best drink decisions I've made in a while. I ordered the Strawberry Coffee and added the Salted Matcha Cream Top. The staff actually told me no one had ever ordered this combination before, which made it even more fun. Let me just say, it worked. It was perfectly balanced. Not too sweet. Not too salty. Just smooth. The strawberry and coffee blended beautifully, and the salted matcha cream on top tied everything together in a way that felt intentional. Nothing overpowered anything else. It just flowed. I loved it so much I went back two days in a row. Beyond the drink, the staff really stood out. They were welcoming, fun, and genuinely kind. Everyone looked like genuinely enjoyed being there. Seeing a team smiling and sending out positive energy that early in the morning made my day! Great drinks are one thing. Great people are another. Ayer has both. I'll definitely be back. read more
Despite the shop being small, my friend and I didn't have to wait long at all for our drinks and the prices were reasonable for the economy! I got a salted saigon which I would have to rate 3.5/5. The coffee taste was strong which I loved, and would say it's not very sweet. The after taste is a bit interesting and it might be due to the salted cream top so I would love to try their regular Vietnamese coffee. My friend got their matcha one, and also rated it 3.5/5. The girls taking my order and at the register were super sweet, so I'd love to come back! read more
My friend and I came on a Tuesday afternoon and the service was so quick! There was one person in front of us but we waited about 5 minutes from lining up to getting our drink which was super fast. The workers were also all super sweet so 10/10 service. My friend got the Salty Saigon which is a viet coffee with a salty cream top and I got the Matcha One. The Salty Saigon was super cute but my friend said the drink itself was okay--on the unsweetened side and she wasn't a huge fan of the salty cream top. The Matcha One was also just okay. There are definitely better matchas out there but it comes with oat milk default. The matcha taste wasn't super strong and it was slightly underwhisked as there were still a few chunks at the bottom of the cup. Overall, I wouldn't line up or go out of my way to get a matcha here but it was good to try at least once! Ratings Matcha One: 3.5/5 Salty Saigon: 3.5/5 read more

Pretty solid matcha, doesn't taste watered down at all! However, there is a really long line and no seating. It's more of a grab and go place! I personally like a more sweeter vanilla cold foam rather than sea salt, but I still think it was a great matcha! There is parking but sometimes can get full. I waited around 45 min on a Friday afternoon, would definitely come back to try their coffees! read more
I would give the matcha latter an overall 3.5 out of 5. I asked for unsweetened, so it was strong and bold (which I prefer). The umami taste was great, but it was not smooth. The matcha is whisked for each order, but the powder is not nutty and smooth enough. There was a small line when I went on a Sunday afternoon. There's a lot of staff and they were all very friendly. The store is small and very simple. There's not much seating, so it's grand and go. There's parking lot is small and pretty packed as well. read more
Why did it take me so long to come here!! The banana latte was good!! Love the toffee bits on the top. The banana flavor isn't overpowering the coffee taste which I like. Some people may want more banana flavor. Blueberry matcha was yummy too. Balance was perfect. Don't love the parking lot or the line but it went by fairly quick. Have to wait outside until your drink is ready but they bring it to you. The five star rating is mainly for their service. Next time I might ask to adjust the sweetness level though. read more

When I say this is the best matcha drink I've ever drank, there is no lie in my statement! I've tried different matcha drinks around OC and none of them compare to Ayer's. I can see why there's usually a line, but the wait is so worth it! There's plenty of parking in this plaza. All of the baristas are very efficient, kind, and accommodating to the customer's order. read more
