I finally decided to try this place. I decided to go with a seasonal drink. I got the pumpkin pie coffee. There is a line that starts outside and I got in line. It goes by quickly. There were menus outside so I can decide what to order once I'm inside. I placed my order with one person and then I went to the other side where I paid. I also ordered a salt bread because it looked good. Overall, would definitely come back to try other drinks. There is parking lot. I was able to find parking in the morning. There's not much seating inside.
Popular coffee spot in OC - went on a Tuesday morning & there was still a line! Parking is easy - big parking lot. The shop is structured as a grab & go coffee spot- no indoor seating. You line up in front & get called to order & pay then wait for your drink outside. Workers were friendly & efficient! less than 5 min wait for my drink despite the growing line. It would be a perk if they had a seating area though (we need more 3rd spaces!!!). I got the coconut water matcha cream & I like how they used pink coconut water (iykyk!!) & the matcha cream was nice & consistent! I liked how refreshing this drink was! I would come back if I'm in the area again!
Saturday morning, 12pm, line is about a 10-15 minute wait but it goes by fast. First visit here, wasn't sure what to order but decided that we will do one coffee and one matcha. Pumpkin Pie Matcha 5/5 - the pumpkin sauce pairs well with the matcha once mixed. Matcha has a great color and taste. I would have added a cream top but forgot. Banana Coffee 3.5/5 - I have had banana coffee in the past at other places but I'm not sure how to feel about this one. I did feel it was bitter and has a weird after taste. My husband liked it and also pointed towards it nuttiest taste with the toffee. Since it's his drink here is his rating - 4.5/5 I think it comes down to your love for bananas lol
You can taste the quality and strength of the coffee and savor the slight sweetness, creaminess, and slight saltiness of the drink. Most people in the line are there for the matcha, so plan to try that next time. I do see them stirring the fresh matcha rigorously. Arrive early, as the line gets longer the later you come in the morning. The line does move pretty fast. Service is quick.
Finally got to try Ayer because the line is usually long when we pass by, but today we had the time to wait. Ordered the mango matcha, matcha two, salted saigon, and salt bread. The matcha two and salt bread were solid, but the salted saigon tasted fantastic. The mango matcha didn't taste as expected, but maybe it's because mango isn't in season. I personally wouldn't get it again. Overall Ayer was good, but will definitely need to come back to try other matcha drinks. The line usually goes out the door so definitely recommend coming early. They will call you when to come in and order, otherwise it'd be way too crowded inside. Ambiance: There is no seating inside the cafe so you just come and pick up your drink/bread and leave. Only salt bread is offered food wise.
I waited 45 min on a Friday afternoon for a drink, which I had anticipated because of the long line. The parking lot is spacious & there are several reminders to not block the entrance of other businesses. The pumpkin matcha was great, but it doesn't justify the wait as it has a similar flavor to other coffee shops. They also give a complimentary tote bag, if you ask! I also got a blueberry matcha, not pictured here, but it was overly sweet. The interior is small & you cannot study inside. It is mainly just grab & go. The music was great! Not sure when I will be back, but I look forward to trying other items!
Always a line here, but it moves pretty fast! Usually only takes about 10-15 minutes. The matcha has a strong, rich flavor, and you can tell it's good matcha just by looking at that beautiful green color. Parking is easy too, and I love the girls working here! They're so sweet. The store is a little small, but super cute and cozy! Definitely worth the wait.
As someone in OC I had to see what the hype was about - 35 min later in 100° weather, I finally found out! Honestly just as good as I expected. The coconut water matcha cream was sooo good. So refreshing with great quality matcha cream. The color was gorgeous and the flavors were perfect together. My partner got the coconut iced blended coffee and it was super tasty and coconutty! Good coffee flavor too. The girls working here are also super sweet and helpful. Would come again, just need to brace myself for the line lol!
Ayer Coffee is constantly touted as one of the best matcha spots in the OC. After a while waiting on the sidelines due to the massive lines I passed by, I finally came at a good time where it wasn't too long of a wait and came away impressed. Ayer Coffee is located in the middle of a Tustin small strip mall plaza. It's a pretty small shop with very limited seating inside and usually a line waiting outside. I came in the middle of the day on a weekday around 1PM where the line wasn't too bad but grew quickly right after I left. You wait outside until you're called in to order with a menu waiting for you at the window. Ayer has a variety of coffee drinks, but I was here for the matcha which they conveniently number in order along with seasonal/special drinks. As always for me, I order the standard iced matcha latte without any syrups. Service was super kind all around. Getting the drink took about 5 minutes. All-around, I can see why people enjoy the matcha, even at the base drink level. The size is a good standard cup for about $7, and the matcha is very noticeable without being too grassy / earthy. It had a well balanced consistency and think it was mixed with solid oat milk that didn't overpower the matcha. Ayer sources their own matcha which they also sell. Overall, came away impressed that it met the hype!
Came here on a Friday afternoon and the line was pretty healthy. Finding a parking spot wasn't bad and we waited about 30 mins. Not much of an ambience since you just order and wait for your drinks. My wife and I ordered the pumpkin pie matcha and salted Saigon. The drinks came out super quick! BELIEVE THE HYPE. Both of these drinks were AMAZING. The pumpkin puree was real and tasted like actual pumpkin, unlike the other coffee spots that sell fake pumpkin sauce. The salted saigon is probably the best Vietnamese coffee I've ever had. No exaggeration.
I wanted to hate this place because how long the wait was but when we finally got to the front we got a matcha 2, and a Saigon drip. I'm so upset the matcha here was so fire cause now I have to wait in the stupid long line again. Coffee was good too very nutty but the matcha was the star so def recommend getting one. Service was also very nice, she brought our drinks out to us.
I was impressed by the variety of coffee and matcha drinks that are here! You could have a range of fruity and tropical drinks to more rich, spice forward drinks. Because it was Summer, I opted for the guava Matcha because it sounded very refreshing. I was surprised with how not too sweet and light it was, but it was still packed with wonderful guava flavor. I was more impressed that they hand whisk every Matcha drink in a bowl, but still, they deliver with speed, efficiency, and quality. My sister got the Matcha with banana and that one was very good. You can tell they use real banana. My only thing is I believe the bananas weren't ripe enough, but I know that it is hard to always have the perfect ripeness for bananas because of demand. This is definitely a grab and go establishment. There is no inside seating or bathrooms. I do advise you to use the bathroom before because all the restaurants nearby will not allow you to use the restroom unless you make a purchase. I definitely want to try the coffee drinks next time because their name has coffee in the title so I should try what they are known for by name!
OVERALL : This was my second time at Ayer. The first time I tried their classic matcha latte w/ matcha foam, mango matcha, and strawberry matcha. The drinks were perfectly creamy esp w/ oat milk, and matcha was strong enough to hold up against all the different flavors. There's always a line out the door on a weekend afternoon, but we only waited about 20 mins and the drinks were well worth the wait. Service was super friendly and helpful w/ reccs. Note that this is more of a take-and-go spot, not for sitting inside. PARKING : There is a parking lot but it is small; might need to make some rounds before you can find a spot. The plaza gets pretty crowded during peak hours! FOOD/DRINKS : Guava Matcha Latte - sweet and refreshing, the guava doesn't overpower the matcha taste and it's a good summer drink! strawberry is prob still my go to though when I want a fruity matcha Pumpkin Matcha Latte - their fall seasonal drink! so surprisingly good - this reminded me of a pumpkin pie esp with the prominent pumpkin taste + the warm fall spices! Would def get again.

I stopped by Ayer during my lunch break and was met with a line out the door. One person took orders while another handled payments, which kept things moving fast. I ordered the Matcha Two, a matcha latte topped with matcha foam. My drink was ready in about 5 minutes. As for the taste: it wasn't quite what I expected. The latte wasn't sweet, leaning more on the grassy, earthy side of matcha. That said, you could tell it was high quality and authentic, just probably more enjoyable for those who prefer their matcha traditional. I was hoping the foam might add a touch of sweetness, but it didn't. Overall, it was still good -- I'd definitely come back and try the coffee. read more
Went here on a Tuesday morning around 11:45a during their soft opening. Props to them for serving a bit early bc they actually said they open at noon. THE STAFF ARE SUPER FRIENDLY AND ATTENTIVE, they even bring your order out to you if you wait outside. And they are working hard whisking the matcha by HAND. Service def 10/10. Anyways, i got the matcha two (basically a double matcha) and it tasted rlly similar to Taty's. If you like Tatys double matcha, you'll probably like this one. Its i think a 16oz cup and it was really sweet. Their milk defaults to oat milk which I don't necessarily prefer....especially if this is why their matcha two is $8. Also tried the mango matcha which has a very strong sweet mango taste to it. I can appreciate that, I just wasn't used to a mango matcha being this mango dominant. SALT BREAD IS FIRE THO!!!! Super small place, they only allow ~2-3 parties inside the cafe at a time. Only one bench inside. Line was out the door and they invite people in when they r ready to take your order. 3/5 stars given, because I am rating it against other double matcha establishments in OC. read more

Lovedddd the matcha 2 and mango matcha! They're super refreshing and stronger than a lot of places who do flavored matchas. I would definitely come back when I'm in the area! read more
The overall experience was not the best. The line was out the door and quite long. It was hard to get through with the Cali heat. Luckily it seemed to go by somewhat quickly. The place is a small store, so don't come here expecting to sit and enjoy your drinks. The service was great! The lady who took my order was super nice and friendly. The drinks itself were just okay. Nothing I would come back for. The mango matcha had a really awesome mango flavor, but the matcha did not really come through. The regular matcha 1 was not good at all. It just tasted like oat milk with a slight matcha taste. I would probably come back to try the coffee, but only if the line was short. read more
Ayer was a mixed experience overall. The matcha didn't live up to the hype--I've definitely had better at other places, especially for how popular this spot is. The salt bread was good and probably the highlight, though I wish I had it when it was hot and fresh because it would've made a big difference. The service was fine and efficient, but nothing particularly memorable. The ambiance is clean and modern with a trendy feel, which adds to the appeal, but overall the experience felt a bit overhyped. read more
I loooove this place! Their matcha quality is really good and their drinks aren't overbearingly sweet. When I went, the line was organized so that only 1-2 parties would be in the shop at a time, which I felt made it more convenient when it got to be my turn to order. I do know that this shop gets a decent line/wait time during busier hours, and I feel that waiting outside allows for an easier and less cramped experience. The shop is quite small as well so I think that they manage the long lines well. read more
Drinks here are really good if u dont mind the short wait! Rich, flavorful, and come out fast once u order. Its a super small shop, but the vibe is nice. Salt bread was ok, very mild in flavor, but seemed really popular. I would definitely come again for a vietnamese coffee! read more

I visited Ayer during their soft opening. The owner greeted us and shared an overview of the menu and ordering process. Ayer specializes in all things matcha! Though we didn't try the matcha during our visit, I'll be back to try soon! During our visit we tried the iced Saigon & Vietnamese lattes - both extremely strong and tasty. I highly recommend ordering their salt bread too. They are actively working on installing their roaster and an oven to warm up pastries in the future. The space itself is fairly small - so this may be more of a grab and go coffee spot. + friendly staff + owner + parking available in private lot + variety or drink options + a few outdoor tables offer some seating options read more
My friends and I went to check out this new place in their soft opening and was able to talk to the co-owner who was super nice. Its a very small space that's meant for grab and go and no place to work or hangout. My friend got the Saigon drip which was supposed to be a vietnamese iced coffee but was very watery unlike the thick and creamy ones you typically expect. The matcha two on the other hand was actually quite tasty with oat milk and has a nice Matcha favor to it. We also got the matcha three in which the only difference is the addition of the matcha sorbet. Note that all their drinks are made with oat milk by default unless you ask for whole milk. I loved the matcha taste but probably not worth $8 and a drive from Irvine. read more

I came to this spot after hearing all the hype around it , and let me tell you I almost didn't go in after seeing the long line at the door, but I'm glad I waited ! The matcha is great and I especially loved the coconut matcha it was super refreshing and light. I would just avoid going in on Weekends since it's a long line but other that that it was great ! read more

Since writing my first review, this spot is officially in my matcha spot rotation!!! I'm so stoked to finally have a great matcha spot in Tustin. In my most recent visit, I purchased their matcha tin, and it did not disappoint. Bright vibrant green matcha and taste just as smooth as the drinks from Ayer! Very pleased with my purchase. Can't wait for their full-time opening so I can come back more! read more
Came here right at 12pm on a Thursday and we waited about ~30min Ordered: Salt Bread Matcha 2 Salted Saigon Worth the wait. Typically I'm not a matcha person but the matcha was perfectly sweetened and not grassy at all. Salted Saigon was also so good and not too sweet. Even so, I'm sure you can get it adjusted. I liked that the cream top is different from what I had at other well known coffee shops. Super strongly caffeinated as a heads up The salt bread compared to what I've had in Korea and other shops around was too salty imo. The packaging was very thoughtful though. Not a place where you sit and hang out it's more of a pick up and go, the interior is really small. Great service and very attentive to your needs even when it was super packed. Definitely would come back again but maybe when the hype dies down a bit! read more

I got the salted saigon and the matcha 2. I would say that both are worth the try, although $8 for matcha is steep. I enjoyed the salted cream on the salted saigon, and the viet coffee is indeed strong as expected. The matcha 2 is a bit milky, but I was still able to taste the matcha. Service is friendly, but it is a small space and only very limited outdoor seating. Wish there was more of a sit down area with vibes. I arrived around 2:25pm on a Thursday and got my drink at around 3pm. I asked when the grand opening would be and it is still tbd, maybe in about a month or so. read more
Not really a matcha drinker but I can see the appeal. The matcha is a good quality and also appreciate the quality of the coffee drinks offered. Big fan of the Salted Saigon just a good balance of bold coffee and sweetness. The Coconut Water Matcha Cream was interesting to try but would definitely stick with the other matcha or coffee drinks if you need caffeine. The location is a corner strip mall and the parking lot can get full during certain evenings because of the other restaurants next to it, but was pretty good in the mornings if you're picking up coffee on the way to work or school. read more

Came by on Tuesday right around 12pm and was helped almost immediately, though a line was forming just minutes after while I was waiting for my drink. The interior is a bit small with one bench area to sit and wait for your drinks, though this clashes into the ordering line when multiple parties are waiting for drinks. I ordered the Matcha One to try their signature matcha with oat milk, less sweet per the staff's personal recommendation. It was still a good amount of sweetness, exactly what I was looking for! The matcha itself was a good balance of the different flavor profiles as well. They have their own matcha tins available for $32 each (40g), including a free Matcha One drink. I definitely would come back to try their other matcha and coffee drinks! They also had salt bread out in the display case, next to the cashier. Bread was nice and buttery, a bit dense, with small salt granules (almost like table salt) sprinkled across the top. Coming right at opening, I was hoping for freshly baked bread, but it seemed like they had already been sitting out. A quick few seconds in the microwave fixed it up though, not sure if they are able to warm the bread upon purchase. 4.5/5 read more

I believe the term "good matcha" is very subjective as everyone enjoys different things when it comes to matcha but this place is a good middle ground for a vast majority to enjoy! Banana hojicha: flavor is stronger than other places but it's not overpowering and it doesn't give off straight milk vibes. The banana top doesn't taste artificial and the nuts on top made the drink 100000000x better TRY ITTT Matcha Two: not too bitter, perfect sweetness, and very creamy! The hint of vanilla was noticeable but very faint in a good way. Solid double matcha The sizes of these cups aren't bad in my opinion as well read more

We found out about this new coffee/matcha shop through TikTok & Instagram and decided to check it out! Upon arriving, there was a small line that moved a little slow, but they are still in their soft opening so be a little patient with them as they are still trying to figure it out! The inside is pretty small with just a little bench to sit on while waiting for your drinks. When we got to the front to order, the guy who seemed like the owner was really friendly and knowledgeable about the menu! We decided to order the matcha 1 with the salted vanilla cream and the matcha 2. The drinks are made with oat milk and in house vanilla syrup. The vanilla cream tasted saltier than the matcha cream, which scared me because I didn't think it would taste good with the matcha since it was so salty. But wow! Both drinks tasted amazing! I would say one of if not the best in the Irvine/tustin area! Would definitely recommend and I would come back for their grand opening! read more
Matcha AND Vietnamese Coffee all under one roof? Say less. Ayer Coffee is a small coffee shop located in a strip mall behind the Arco gas station. It's currently in its soft opening phase. You can see all of the baristas focused and churning out orders in the back as they have an open kitchen, line was out the door on a Friday Afternoon--good for them! Cashier and staff (and i think the owner?) were super friendly and organized. Tried their standard Matcha 1--it's everything a matcha should be, paired with oat milk and their house-made vanilla syrup where it's not too milky--striking the balance of milk to matcha flavor. Their Matcha goes up in "levels", with lvl 2 adding a vanilla salted foam and lvl 3 adding a scoop of matcha ice cream+the foam. Matcha was nice and refreshing, and I'm curious to try their other levels and to see their full menu! Next time I'm getting a mango matcha! Got a Vietnamese Coffee for my brother and he gave it a big thumbs up. So no matter if you're a Matcha or Coffee fan (or both), there's something for everyone here. Honestly, this one of the few places in Tustin that gets a Good matcha latte right (it's hard to get that ratio right but they nailed it!), am super excited to welcome them into the neighborhood! Will definitely be back to try more things! read more
Parking: small parking lot in the plaza. It can get really crowded, there's other lots and street parking available. Drinks: Matcha two ($8): I like that it comes with oat milk as a default. The foam is decadent, and the matcha is strong with nutty notes. I'd recommend asking for light sweetener. Iced coconut blended coffee ($7): This is a great unique drink. Lots of viet cafes have been making this as well so it's nice to see a local option. We didn't see whether it's espresso, but the coffee is nice and strong. Ambiance: there is no indoor seating, this is not a spot to study at. It's primarily take out, or a short hang out spot. They have 3 tables outside, otherwise it can get really crowded. They're in their soft opening phase, so it's a bit disorganized. Prepare to wait a bit, otherwise it's a great spot to check out. read more
Been meaning to try this place when I saw it opening up. There is no inside seating so it's an order and dip type beat. There was a line at 2pm on a Wednesday but went by relatively quick. Vibes are chill it's like 80% barista space 20% order space. But what matters is the coffee and I got the coconut coffee which was. 10/10 experience, felt refreshing. The banana coffee was also a 10/10, but on the dessert side rather than pure coffee but still good. Will come back at some point in my life. read more
Came back here since their soft opening and didn't realize they had so many more drinks. I tried the banana toffee matcha this time and I loved the toffee bits that they had on top. They make the cream from fresh banana and it was so delicious and not too sweet. I still think the matcha 2 is my favorite but I might try to see if I can get that with the toffee bits next time because it was so yummy! read more

I decided to try Ayer after seeing multiple videos on Tik Tok. I got the "Pumpkin Pie Matcha", I thought the drink was okay. Upon reading some of the reviews right now, I didn't know that they used oat milk. I don't care for oat milk & I thought the taste of the matcha was alright. The pumpkin puree was honestly the best part of the drink lol. Service was great & the employees were super friendly. There was a bit of line but it moved decently. Other than that I am a little disappointed & wish the matcha could've tasted better. read more

Ayêr coffee is a brand new coffee shop in tustin serving phin style coffee and specialty (actually ceremonial grade) matcha from japan. the green matcha color doesn't lie. every drink i've tried is amazing but their MATCHA just hits every time. my favorites are the double matcha, mango matcha, and coconut water matcha. i appreciate that they care about the quality of their matcha, and each drink is individually hand-whisked to order. also love that oat milk is the default (they offer whole milk too). my favorite coffee is the spanish phin, their take on the iced spanish latte, and the coffee is STRONG. a cute grab & go spot with super friendly staff. so excited for their grand opening and the full menu of drinks! **note: they are currently in their soft opening phase and hours are 12p-3p, tues-saturday read more
so good!!! my friend went here and brought me back my drink. she said there was a short line even early in the morning. the concept of ordering your drink and then having to let the cashier know what you ordered was something different. the banana hojicha was sooo good, you can definitely tell that they use quality hojicha. it's nutty, creamy, and perfectly banana flavored :) i would get this again and again! the salt bread was also delicious :) i've been on a salt bread kick and when this one's heated up, its the perfect bite read more
this place has been on my bucket list for matcha in OC, and it was really good! i got the matcha two, which comes with a salted vanilla cream top and oat milk, and i enjoyed how the matcha was complimented by the cream top. it wasn't too sweet either, which is exactly how i love my drinks. when i came on a saturday around 10 am, it was already pretty crowded, so beware! the service was pretty fast for how busy it was, and the workers were really kind in explaining the different drinks on the menu for us. the shop itself is very small with no area for sitting and is more like a grab and go place, but that was fine with me. overall, a yummy matcha! read more

Sooooo good!!! Their coconut water is Harmless Harvest and I loveeee their coconut water, mixed with their sea salt matcha foam was such a great touch. by far one of the best cafe experiences i've had in a while (despite the wait! and parking being pretty packed but we did go on new year's day so) i actually messed up ordering process cause it was my first time .. sorry guys D: wait for them to call you inside, order first at the counter (so they can get started) and then tell your order again to person behind register to pay. cashless payments only! we ordered banana and mango matcha, both very good and very fresh flavors! no hint of artificialness at all. love love love that default is oat milk for everything and ice levels are great. sweetness levels are perfect for me without adjusting (not too sweet)! all orders are handwhisked and it's an open bar concept if you like to watch them work lol when i realized i messed up, owner overheard and moved our drinks to front of queue even though it was very much our fault and not theirs T_T and they even added in their coconut matcha for us to try which was super sweet. genuinely best customer service experience i've had in a while! love that it also came in a bagged cupholder without us having to ask :') read more

This matcha spot lives up to the hype! Came on a Saturday around 11:15AM and there was a long line but it moved quickly. Waited 15 minutes to order and less than 5 minutes for the drinks! We got the matcha two and banana matcha. They were both a good amount of sweetness and the matcha was strong which I loveee. The cream tops are yummy and I preferred the banana matcha, although once it got diluted the taste was overpowering. Interior is pretty small inside so a small waiting area, and no indoor seating or restrooms. The girls working are quick and friendly. I would come back if I was in the area, and hopefully try their salt bread next time! read more
