I'm a simple man. I simply wanted a nice bowl of only steak and rice; I was not prepared for what I received. I received an orgasmic bowl of steak and rice. The steak was absolutely well seasoned and tender. The rice was not bland at all surprisingly. It was very flavorful. I decided to skip the sauce and thought I would regret it because most bowls like this are dry. However everything was on the money, no add-ins necessary and no sauce necessary. I ordered to-go and the wait time was pretty ehhh but with how good the food was, it was a trade off. As far as the restaurant itself, it was pretty nice. I saw a lot of families there and they had a nice kinda sorta outside dining thing. I definitely recommend trying out Avo if you're nearby

Food is always pretty good here. I try my best to order something new each time. The service is always great. The staff is super attentive and helpful if needed. The ambiance is super chill and great for one on one or small groups. Happy hour is worth it because instead of $40 for a pitcher you only pay $28 which can give you anywhere between 5-6 decent drinks.

Pretty good non-traditional taco spot. Menu is pretty extensive and there are a lot of unique taco options. The tacos are also very large. My favorites are probably the carny (pork) and el flaco (chicken). Not the best tacos ever but there aren't a ton of taco options in Bayside so this is a solid choice. The apps are also pretty good, especially the guac. Cocktails options are what you'd expect (margs, mojitos, etc.) They also have bowls, salads, and quesadillas but haven't tried them yet. From dining in and looking around, the portions look substantial. Ambience is lively/colorful and service is consistently attentive.

I went to this location after the movie theater that is around the corner, it had a very welcoming atmosphere and upbeat vibe. The Three Amigos($15)- These was nachos that had a fire roasted salsa, queso and guacamole as dips. It had a good amount of sauce and nachos which the queso was my favorite out of the 3. Chipotle Chicken Bowl($14)- Chicken with onions, corn salsa, avocado and poblano crema. The overall flavor were pretty good but the rice was undercooked and hard so it was inedible which was upsetting. Overall I would give it another shot and try something else since it does have a very nice atmosphere. Parking could be a little tough since it shares a small parking lot with other stores. Delicious bowls! BLACKENED SHRIMP, CALYPSO STEAK BOWL, TUNA MONTEZUMA BOWL*

The waitress brought the drinks and food out pretty efficiently, even during the dinner rush. The bowls and tacos were made with fresh and tasty ingredients. We had steak, shrimp and tuna bowls and each bowl was as tasty as the other. The restaurant has a happy, friendly vibe. They had plants and festive decor. You can sit inside or out on the patio. This is a nice place for a casual meal with friends! Worth another visit!

restaurant is small, but super cute. All of the people working were super friendly and worked quickly. The food came out within 15 minutes of ordering it. The mango salsa was our favorite.

Been here a few times and loved the steak tacos and decided to order a catering box. The steak was great but the proportion wasn't balanced enough - there wasn't enough corn salsa, guacamole and taco shells. We ended up more than half of the steak left over. Would be great if the proportion could be revisited so it's more balanced!

I've been a HUGE fan of the location on Long Island. Haven't had in a while and now I live in the area so tried this place. Have mixed feelings. Ordered chipotle chicken bowl. It's okay I think I'm not a fan of the sweet flavor. It was too sweet for my taste. The chips were really stale but also need to add more chips especially if your charging $7 the ratio chips to queso needs to be right. It was overall okay, next time I'll stick to tacos. Remember those I liked.

I have been meaning to try AVO TACO since the Yelpies and finally made my way over, and it did not disappoint! Started with classic chips and guac. Even without the special toppings that they do, the guac was still flavorful and tasted fresh. Coco Loco (Coconut Shrimp Taco): This was good! I love anything with sweet chili sauce so I enjoyed this. I do wish there was just one more shrimp, but that's okay. The Long Liner (Ahi Tuna Taco): My favorite! The fish tasted fresh and the mango salsa went very well with it. Large pieces of fish and very worth it. FARE/FAIR warning that these tacos are MESSYYY. Be prepared to have sauces dripping from your hands. Or use a fork and knife for your tacos LOL. The churro sundae was a great way to end dinner. It was very very sweet though, but that was expected. The soft serve melted very fast with the churros being so warm, so you have to eat this fast if you don't want to be drinking ice cream soup basically. I imagine this space to be very lively in the summer when they open up the doors and have fresh air flowing through the place.

Was introduced to Avo Taco from a Yelp Elite event. Wanted to come back for their Tuesday Taco Special and their Happy Hour. The Tacos were delicious. Ordered the Calypso Steak, Floridian, Carny and friend ordered the Bandito, the Cowboy and Floridian. Service was off. The waitress took us to where my friend wanted to sit in the back with the booths. She came to take the order, staff who brought the drinks asked if we needed anything else as well as other staff who brought out the food asked if we needed anything else. The next time I saw waitress, which she was in the front and we had to flag her down twice. I wanted another Virgin Pina Colada and box for the food. We were not finished nor ready to leave. She came back with the check and box for food. Was she overwhelmed? She was the only waitress when we came in. Then there was also an error on the check. We had given waitress a coupon before placing order and informed her we using it. She never took out the difference. So she had to come back with another check. Restaurant and ambiance is warm and inviting. Only one bathroom was working so be prepared to wait. Then hour later other bathroom is working too. Check sign on the door.

This restaurant is a bit disorganized. We had about 3 different servers rotating to serve us. The first server didn't inform us that someone will take our order when we were given the menus. We assumed that the order takes place online because they had qr codes on all the tables and it took them awhile to get back to us. My boyfriend even tipped them before buying the food and drinks online which was odd. We informed the second server that we purchased the food online. When the food and the drinks came out different servers brought it to us. I had to inform them that they forgot my coke. Instead of checking the online order, she brought me a fountain coke when I ordered the mexican coca cola. We let it go. Now for the food review. I would say it is a bit on the saltier side, but my boyfriend and I really enjoyed the yuca fries and the truffle steak quesadilla. I also liked the street corn. Also, ask for the hot sauce because it is so good. It hits the spot!

DLDR: I would order few of the Coco Loco Tacos, Chimichurri Steak Tacos, Hawaiian Chicken Quesadilla, and end it with Tres Leche. Came here for lunch with my gf and her parents on a late Sunday morning. There's no parking in front of the restaurant, as it's a narrow one way street, but there's a massive parking lot behind the plaza and limited parking to the left of the plaza. They happened to have happy hour specials where select appetizers and drinks were half off. Don't remember how often they planned on having this deal. Service is pretty decent for the most part. At times, you do need to go flag someone down if you need something. Otherwise, the staff members, from our assigned waiter, the bartender, and manager, were all very friendly and gave good recommendations. For drinks, we ordered the Passion Fruit Pina Colada ($12) and the Mango Mojito ($12). Both drinks were good, but liked the Mango Mojito better. The rum in the Pina Colada stood out from the rest of the ingredients, making it less enjoyable. For appetizers, we tried the Chicken Tortilla Soup ($5). I believe this is new to the menu and for starters, this was pretty good. For entrees, we ordered a bunch of stuff to try a variety of items: Quesa Birria ($17) - This has been super trendy over the past few years and I haven't been a fan of the places I've tried them. This was recommended by the staff as the beef has been slow cooked for three hours. At this point, I think it's just me where I'm not a fan of the Birria craze due to the amount of cheese and the messiness of dipping it in a cup of oil. Hawaiian Chicken Quesadilla ($14) - I've had chicken quesadilla all my life and this is the first time I'm having it with pineapple. A simple additional topping and it's a game changer. Coco Loco ($6) - This was my absolute favorite taco I had here. The breaded shrimp with sweet chili made this taste phenomenal along with the cole slaw and sprinkled coconut flakes or enhanced taste. The Carny ($5.50) - This is a braised pork shoulder topped with pickled cabbage, poblano creama and cotija cheese. I have to say this was okay, but not my favorite. Chimichurri Steak ($6.50) - This consisted of flank steak marinated in pineapple soy topped with chimichurri sauce, crispy onions, and scallion. The steak was well made and flavored. I did enjoyed the added flavoring of the chimichurri and the crispy onion topping. We ended our meal with the Tres Leche ($6), which is made fresh in house. One of the best desserts I've had in a while. Super fluffy and delicate fresh out of their oven. Wouldn't have wanted this any other way.

Service is terrible! We walked in and sat down for 10-15 minutes, no waitress. We ordered food through QR code then a waitress asked if we needed help. It would be helpful if there was a sign explaining if you need to be seated or just grab a seat and scan the barcode. I do not think it's fair of the restaurant to request tip to just bring out food. The water is self serve in the back. It's like a fast food place that requires tipping!!!! read more

Friends had eaten here a few months ago, so we decided to try it. Everything was quite delicious and reasonably priced. Guacamole: Very fresh and creamy. Street corn: Good, but for my taste less topping so more corn flavor comes out. And could use a little char as well. Shrimp taco: Fabulous! Sweet shrimp, crisp and bright slaw, great pico. Pork belly taco: Wonderful! Avo steak bowl: Wow! Lots of fresh greens, flavorful grains, succulent steak and mushrooms. Two tasty dressings, too! Huge meal for one person. Black beans and rice: Nice 'n' smoky. We were there during happy hour, so drinks were half price and refreshing. It's pretty loud, but definitely worth a return trip. And let's not forget the pleasant and attentive service! read more

You can tell that this place is new so maybe that's the reason my experience here was what it was. They were very friendly and the staff did their best I think but the quality of the food overall leaves something to be desired. My friend and I ordered 6 different tacos. They mistakenly brought me the wrong taco but left it with me which was the right thing to do. Out of the total 7 tacos, that were ordered, all were served at room temp at best and The flavors were just off. Neither of us ate all Of every taco because of that. The serving is too small For the size of the tortilla they give you and they made multiple mistakes with what was brought to us and what was charged on the bill. If the portion size given to you during happy hour is the same during other times, the prices are really high. I'm sure that this is all about being a new business but rule of thumb, hot food should be served hot. read more

My girlfriend and I had an awesome first time at Avo Taco! We arrived just in time for happy hour. Delicious margaritas and piña colada. We ordered the pork belly bites and street corn for starters. We also ordered the Calypso Taco, Big Shrimpin', and Chipotle Chicken Bowl. Everything was delicious and fresh! But the highlight to our experience at AvoTaco was our waiter Ty! Please give him a raise! He treated us with such kindness and personal able service. Nice looking addition to bay terrace. Kinda crazy they had no rice or beans on a Saturday night. It was about 70 percent full when we got there. Not a ton of help as they were answering phone orders. Will give them another chance when they staff up and have more items to chose from. Food was similar to Chipotle but with a bigger bar. read more

My family came out for dinner and certainly will not go back. The idea behind the place seems to be Mexican food while cutting the costs in every possible way. You order with a QT code in which you have to enter your credit card info. before even placing your order. Someone brings out your food and the portions are NOTHING like the images posted on Yelp. We ordered guac and chips as an appetizer and I must say the guac was not bad. Good flavor but certainly not enough of it. I ordered the tuna bowl with brown rice and quinoa mix and it lacked flavor but also ingredients. Two tablespoons of guac and a sprinkle of diced mango is ridiculous. Also, the guac is not the same as the one they give with the guac and chip appetizer. The guac in the bowl was bland and did not look the same. My husband had the steak bowl and he is also okay with never returning. My kids both wanted chicken tenders and neither ate them. It came with tortilla chips as they do not have fries. Nonetheless, I did not think the chicken was bad. I requested 2 to-go containers for the food my kids didn't eat. The staff said one container would be okay and it wasn't. I just left the food that didn't fit. I won't be returning. read more

We dropped by for the first time after hearing it opened recently. Took us a minute to figure out the QR code menu concept and how to work it for the table. Pretty cool. We ordered an assortment of bowls and tacos along with the green chili queso and chips. First the good... The tacos we got were really good (shrimp remoulade, long liner, carny). The queso was flavorful - just wish there was more of it. We should have stayed with tacos. The bowls were disappointing. We got the chicken, steak and tuna bowls. The tuna was the best one. Overall the rice/quinoa lacked flavor - some lime and cilantro probably would have helped. Not sure what but something was missing. The chipotle chicken was strangely not well seasoned. The steak was decent but didn't have much steak. There was more mushroom than steak. All in - not a bad place but this is a very competitive market for tacos and bowls. read more

The food is great I got the truffle steak quesadillas which I recommend, the portion is good and i was full just from that alone! The service is self done with a QR code you scan. So if your not technologically savvy then i would ask for assistance. You place your order on there and even pay there too. The only interaction you have is when you get your meal/drinks. Ago Taco is a new dining spot that recently opened in Bay Terrace. Unfortunately they only had a limited menu when I visited but assured me that they will have an expanded menu soon. I had the good fortune of visiting on Taco Tuesday where you can choose any 3 tacos for $12. There is a full variety of tacos including seafood, pork, steak, chicken and vegetarian options. All of the tacos that I tried were delicious. The small vanilla soft serve cone at the end of the meal was a pleasant surprise. Happy Hour specials include discounted prices on some menu items and pitchers of margaritas. I will be back. read more

Where do I begin? This place is dope as hell! They have outdoor and indoor seating options and the indoor is like a perfect size. The inside gives like a mini Tulum kinda vibe how they set up the bar. And omg the seats are big butt friendly!! The most comfortablist bar stools I ever sat on!! And get this they living in the future over at Avo taco! U scan the barcode order whatever u want and u have the option to open a tab or close out the Tab right then and there. No waiters in your face, no chasing down waiters when u wanna order extra food. All the waiters do is bring out the food and drinks to you when they're done. But the staff is very nice tho! The vibe of the place is dope and the place is spotless. The drinks are strong and delicious. Me and bae had about three rounds of their spicy margarita. Bomb Bomb! I had the yucca fries, wings and guac with shrimp and bae had their chicken bowl everything was fresh and delicious! This is our new spot so if y'all see me there with bae just wave lol. The food was great, our server was okay, the only issue I had was towards the end of the night. Me and a couple of friends came at around 8:15 to eat, and later on another friend joined us. We left the restaurant at around 9:50 which I guess was such an inconvenience to the workers tonight. They were very rude upon us leaving, and it was just disgusting. Me and my pregnant friend were constantly apologizing as we left because we've worked in the restaurant industry before, and we know how it feels. Their response was just gross. They rolled their eyes and right as the doors closed they yelled loud enough for us to hear "YAY PARTYY" which is incredibly rude and disrespectful. These little girls need to get a grip and grow up. They didn't officially close till 10 and they were setting up chairs and pushing tables away at 8:30...?? It disrupted the whole mood and it was messy. Not professional at all and was unacceptable behavior. Won't be coming here again. read more

Surprisingly, it is a dish that is hard to find in the Flushing/Fresh Meadows area especially in a sit down, comfortable restaurant. The Chilaquiles was a nice little plate of deliciousness - I loved the tangy green salsa soaked bed of tortilla with nicely fried over easy eggs (they way I ordered it). A fan of avocado, tomato and onions top the dish as well - it comes with a side of rice and beans. I recently returned when I was in the mood for enchiladas - they have combo option with beef, chicken and cheese. I ordered them divorced style with both red and green salsa. It comes blanketed with a shredded lettuce salad with tomato, onions and avocado. Rice and beans round out the dish. A couple of other dishes I tasted were the eggs with chorizo and the chimichanga - both were very good. I love their house salsas both a dark red and green one. They bring out tortilla chips with a thick salsa that is tomato-ey sweet. They have a full bar if you are so inclined and the service is very good here.

Not fluent in English, but very friendly service. They have an extensive menu! They give complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is a sweet tomato-y salsa and the chips are crisp. The Chimichanga with Cecina (Salted Beef) was stuffed! Crisp fried exterior, covered in flavorful red (tomato-y) and green (herb-y) sauces. The cecina is perfectly salted. I enjoyed the guac and chips (same as the complimentary chips) and pico on the side added freshness. They also have a house red and green sauce, which have a good kick and flavor to them. The Pineapple Juice is the right amount of sweetness and tart. I like that there's no ice so it's a full glass of juice! Overall a neat local spot to hit up for good food and friendly service (and a full bar!).

And that's not all... Let me share the added benefits of this place, so I've been to CHIPOTLE and GUACTIME, and those places don't even stand a chance in comparison to this place. There is absolutely NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR GUACAMOLE NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR YOUR CHOICE OF MEAT/PROTEIN TYPE. They have a standard price of $14.95 for your meal and you can add as many toppings and sauces as you like! They also have a vast array of VEGAN/VEGETARIAN options like roasted cauliflower/beans/tofu for all those non meat eating or health conscious people out there Nothing has been sitting out for the day or is nasty looking like the other places I mentioned. Everything is made super fresh on the spot. Including the fries. Don't even get me started on the caramel filled Churros-you're gonna die n go to heaven they're soo crispy and delicious! One of the biggest kickers for me though is this-I absolutely had no stomach/gut issues (bloating/pain etc) after eating this food. I felt so good. That is the game Changer for me because I'm sure we all know about the downside of eating Mexican fast food usually. Tap and pay is available so you don't have to pay only Cash here but that's an option too. The owner Ali is from Pakistan and shared with me about his family and daughter and how he prides himself on his passion for quality food and excellent customer service and I will say, without him even mentioning it, it shows in his business, service and food. I recently visited this place and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious--I tried the tacos, the bowl, and the smash burger, and every single dish was really yummy. Each bite was bursting with flavor and made with high-quality ingredients. The staff were incredibly attentive and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our meal, which really elevated the dining experience. Another standout was their extensive tequila selection--perfect for anyone who enjoys a good drink to pair with their meal. Overall, this restaurant offers fantastic food, great service, and a welcoming ambiance. Whether you're a fan of Mexican cuisine or just looking for a great spot to dine, I highly recommend checking it out. I'll definitely be returning! read more

Avo Taco was pretty underwhelming, especially considering how overpriced everything was. For the cost, I expected something much more flavorful and well-balanced, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. To be fair, I might be a bit biased since I'm not a huge fan of americanized Mexican food , but even beyond that, the flavors just felt flat. The tacos were incredibly bland, lacking any real seasoning or punch, which made them forgettable. The quesadillas were probably the best thing on the menu, but even those were just okay--decent, but nothing that would make me want to go out of my way to return. For the price and the overall experience, I'd say there are much better options out there. Definitely not a place I'd rush back to. read more
