I went for takeout this eve. Was warmly greeted and offered a free shot cause of a bad day taking my mom to the ER. I was offered a lot of help deciding what to eat. I settled on 3 soft shell tacos, one mahi fish, one tuna and one cauliflower. All outstanding but I think I like the cauliflower the best. Since I didn't eat all day, I didn't think to take a photo. I don't typically leave reviews, but i'm also not one to say "i'm done ordering from here" after multiple attempts of trying to like the food. The guac tastes like unseasoned avocado, the chicken is ALWAYS dry, no matter if it's a taco, bowl, or however other form. I just got some of "the carny" pork tacos and they were absurdly salty, and the "big shrimpin" blackened shrimp tacos were cold. Every thing is also just DOUSED in what they call a poblano crema but really just tastes like a loose sour cream. The elote was once again slathered in the "crema" and was bland - i got it in a to go order and threw it out. I previously got bowls and just tried tacos and asked for a gluten free shell because i have celiac disease and there is no way the shell they gave was gluten free because I'm already feeling unwell. Sure it's a cute place, nice vibe, but the food is just extremely lackluster and has disappointed me time after time. You're better off going to Moho down the road. read more

Was excited to try this new place in the neighborhood. Let's start with the greeters.... there were none. Finally, we found a random server and asked if we could have a table. She disappeared. A few people came in and another random server immediately led them to their table. While still waiting another couple showed up and we said we were here and finally we were seated. And we sat. And sat. We saw a waitress who was wandering and we asked her if we could order drinks, we did.... they never came. She returned twice asking if we were good, we were not. After 10-15 minutes, we left. Can't review food or drinks because the service was ridiculous. Do better! read more

We sat at the bar on Saturday and lucky for us it was happy hour. We had Spicy Margaritas that were great. We had a mix of Nachos and tacos recommend by Charlie our wonderful Bartender/Server. Being a huge taco fan and living walking distance from this place I couldn't wait for the opening, due to the ratings on their other store. My wife and I went and had a terrible experience. First, we entered the store and was approached by a gentleman and he asked us are we taking the food out or eating in. He had to repeat it three times due to the blaring music. We told him we would be eating in, he sat us down at a table and gave us a menu. We waited for about 15 min. and no one came to our table, so my wife thought that maybe you have to go to the counter and order and they will bring it to us. She asked and was told no, so we sat back down and waited another 10 min. and no one approached us. so we decided to leave and go to Applebees. We struck up a conversation with a couple that we saw in Avo Taco, they said the music was unbearable so they left, I guess its for a younger crowd. If you do go there a good pair of shooters muffs will be serve you well. read more

This review is for the Bayside,Queens restaurant. I order from this location frequently as the food is always fresh and satisfying. The location is small but the ambiance is worth the visit. The reason for my 5 star rating,however, is the service provided at this location. All of the employees are wonderful. Nick, the manager, is exceptional. He has the friendliest disposition and goes above and beyond to ensure client satisfaction, a rarity nowadays. I highly recommended stopping by if you are in the Bayside area. My wife I I went this past Monday evening and sat at the bar. We were treated tremendously by our bartender/waiter Amuri. The place is very cute and a great addition to Bayterrace, but the food always comes out luke warm, its never hot, they have you order from a QR code, and serve you on a metal tray with no utensils, or plates to eat. Drinks are good. Food would be great if served hot and not warm. Its great place to stop for a quick drink and snack or app. read more

The service absolutely ruins this place. From the moment you walk in you're confused about where to sit and if there's even a waiter/waitress coming to help you and you resort to ordering through the QR code on the table giving it like a fast food vibe which I didn't enjoy and even more so didn't enjoy it wasn't fast at all. My drinks arrived after my entrée and I was never given water until I had to ask the person who brought the food out. The food is good I can't complain about that but something needs to be changed about the ordering system and service in general because every person I know that's been there has complained about it. So much to say so please stay with me - First off, I'm writing this not to bring down a new restaurant in the neighborhood, but rather to alert the owners to the frustrations that the patrons may feel. If they choose to ignore, well, this place will not last but I hope it does..To start, my party of 4 arrived at 6:30pm. The place was packed with people waiting outside. We put our name on the list and were told of a 35-40 minutes wait. Fine. We went to the bar and the great news is - the bartender and his drinks were stellar! If we come back it will be because everyone in my party agreed that we had some of the best drinks they can remember in a while. Now fast forward to 45 minutes later....I approach the host to follow up on when we may be seated, when he notified me that we were to be seated next. 15 minutes later...There were two empty tables of 4 for the past 10 minutes, so I walk back up to the host and he said "you should have been seated by now." I am going to pause for a second to also address the other people waiting for the other empty tables - why is no one moving people to tables as soon as they're clear?? Once we sit it's all downhill and we realized we should have stayed at the bar. We are told to scan the barcode and order from our phones. Wouldn't I have just stayed home and ordered from grub hub if I wanted to do that? If the owners did any research on the location where they put up shop they'd realize the residents of Bay Terrace due to the age range, will take issue with this. I also need to point out that at this point it's 7:30pm (an hour after we arrived) and a large part of the already limited menu on my phone is not available and reading "out of stock." Thinking this has to be a glitch, i reach out to a staff person asking if this was accurate, and they told me yes. All the bowl dishes weren't available because they ran out of rice. Owners, managers - it's 7:30pm on a Saturday. and rice a major necessity for a Mexican restaurant. After going back to our phones (the very opposite of what a dinner experience should be) we were so annoyed with the ordering process (there's no option to split the bill) we begged for a live person to be able to take our order, which they did accommodate. This created another ordeal of one party having to order first and closing out. Because we were the second party to order, at 8:30pm (2 hours after we arrived) I had to flag someone down to get the simple guac appetizer we ordered. Our few tacos arrived 20+ minutes later. For the tiny amount of lukewarm food we received this is unacceptable. The tacos were tasty, but I am a bit confused why the exact same cole slaw is used on every single taco. For example - I'd think seared tuna and coconut fried shrimp or chicken would adhere to different flavors. Maybe that's a matter of opinion but I can guarantee that service, oh and cutlery and plates along with expecting a guac appetizer in under two hours is not. read more

I'm always looking forward to trying a new establishment in my neighborhood, but after trying avo taco last night I will not be back. The positives about this place was that there was a very friendly bartender named Shay who made amazing drinks and was very understanding. To start we had to sit at the bar because there were no tables available not a big deal since it was a Saturday night and expected. We were given menus and had our order taken by Charlie who was nasty from the start. We put in our drink order and waited about 15 minutes while Charlie told another bartender NOT to make our drinks and proceeded to make the other people sitting at the bar who came after us their drinks and Charlie even made herself a beverage. She then stood there entering tickets into the register completely ignoring us until I mentioned to the lovely shay that we were waiting for our drinks still. She had us repeat the order to her and she made them. Probably the best margarita and mojito I've had in awhile. Now my friend ordered three chicken tacos and I had one chicken and two pork one was called a sizzlin grizzilin everytjint including the sizzling came out ice cold. After debating if I should send it back I decided that I did not want to eat cold pork belly and took the risk. The tacos came back out a little warmer but by this time we were complete turned off.
