It was my First time trying this place , and I had such a great experience. The employees were nice and pleasant. I tried some tacos ( Buffalo shrimp and el Falco) and the yuca fries. 10/10. The bartender/ server Jabari, was so nice and attentive . They also had a very good play list of music. The restaurant was clean and spacious. I highly recommend if you're in the neighborhood. A good place to try before viewing a movie at the nearby AMC theater. read more

Let's start by saying I love AVO Taco , just not this location. Today I arrived with my family of 7 and spend over $160 on food. However, we got our nachos and my young niece had a metal screw in her mouth one her first bite. UNACCEPTABLE AND DISGUSTING!! I notified the manager, showed him the screw. He was apologetic and went to talk to the kitchen. The manager explained he would refund the nachos. At this point , my family didn't even want to finish the rest of their food , neither did I! Right thing to do is refund our entire food!! We wasted 160 on tacos, apps. Which included hazardous metal objects in my food!! How the f*ck does a metal screw get into nachos!!! Wtf Avo Taco -Bayside SUCKS!! I will Never return here read more

Our waitress was very friendly and gave us good recommendations. I went with the chimichurri steak taco and the blackened mahi taco. The food was out super quick. Excellent service! Reasonably priced $6 per taco, 2 tacos each was enough to fill us up. Loved the wings, they make the sauce in house and it was very tasty. Some of the best wings I've had. I had a virgin piña colada that was refreshing as well as the dessert I definitely recommend the tres leches cake! read more

This review is based off one visit with a party of 3. AVO TACO checked all the boxes upon entering. It was clean, people looked like they were having a good time, and the service was quick and friendly. What could go wrong? Short answer: the tacos. Before discussing the tacos, we ordered the Carnitas Nachos for an app and it was great! The meat was juicy and there was plenty for us to split. Then came the tacos... I don't know if your experience might vary with whoever is making/cooking the tortillas, but my tortillas were these perfectly round, doughy disks that reminded me of play-doh. I had ordered 3 different tacos, and they were all underwhelming. My main issues are: the tortillas turned every taco into a doughy soft-shelled taco experience, the proteins of the taco were sometimes overwhelmed by the taco sauces, and I finished every taco with a sweet taste in my mouth. I don't know about most people, but I eat tacos for a deep savory experience. Overall, I had a sad experience in paradise. Sometimes the best tacos are the simplest ones that aren't afraid to show you their quality. I just feel like AVO TACO tries too hard to make the tacos look unique to appeal to your eyes and not your mouth. read more

Avo Taco fan here. I enjoyed their food and flavored margarita when they did a soft opening and were giving away food in the Fall. This time I had the kid sized steak and cheese quesadilla ($4) guacamole and chips with shredded chicken mango salsa upgrade ($10) the steak quesadilla was a sizable portion and delicious as was the guacamole. My niece had the kids' chicken tender and homemade tortilla chips ($5) Everything is made with fresh and homemade ingredients and is a good value. They have a daily food and beverage Happy Hour from 3-6 pm and other specials. I'll be back for more soon read more

Ordered online and it only took 15 minutes. Food was overly flavorful. A bit too much for me so drinking plenty of water. Ordered corn (yummy but had to wipe off the sauces a bit), guacamole and various tacos. Very meaty and saucy. Pickup was efficient and it looked like people were having fun inside. Give it a try and see if you love it or hate it. read more

Food was great. Drinks on point. Ariana was friendly and attentive. She even convinced us to come back for trivia Thursday.

I came on a Thursday night for dinner after stumbling upon this place after watching a movie nearby. The place was kind of busy. I liked that you can sit anywhere you like and order directly from the table through a QR code. The cons were that staff wasn't as attentive. We weren't sure if water was self-service near the fountain soda machine towards the back or if we had to ask the staff. We also had to go up to the bar for the Mexican coke we ordered since it was missing from our order. The food was very flavorful and had a large variety to choose from. I liked all the vegetarian options. We ordered the plain guacamole and chips. I felt like the guacamole was missing just a tiny bit something. Next time, I would order the trio to taste different flavors with the guacamole. My tacos were all delicious, although a bit on the salty side. I didn't mind that, but it made me want to order a drink for sure. Out of the three tacos I ordered, the Ami Schroomer was my favorite. I loved the mushrooms and the sauce. The crunchy onions on top made the perfect bite. The Queso Fresco and the Rastaman's was similar so I wasn't sure which one was which. Overall this is a great spot for grabbing a quick bite without having to interact with anyone much. They also have different deals depending on the day of the week. I'd likr to come back for Taco Tuesday's. read more

Ehhhhh.....I get it. Cool, modern space / atmosphere, upbeat young staff, but mediocre food. The amount of oil that was sitting at the bottom of my two tacos made the shells inedible. The meat was good but I could not eat the actual tacos themselves. The chips were 5/10 and the Queso was hard and cold by the time I ate it but I'm sure it's because I took it to go. The corn was solid 7/10. The prickly pear Margherita was 6/10, a bit unbalanced. All in all, I'd recommend coming here for happy hour and taking advantage of the half off cocktails and "select" starters but not my go to any time other than that. read more

Amazing and unique tacos. I've tried maybe 75% of the menu and none of them disappointed. Piggy Smalls is my favorite, but Long Liner, Juanita, and Calypso Steak are amazing as well just to name a few. They also have great guac which you can get with toppings such as corn or onion strings. Very friendly staff as well. Their New Hyde Park location in Long Island is great as well. read more

First time at the Bay Terrace location and had an enjoyable meal! The guacamole and chips were delicious, and the chicken wing appetizer was good - though could have used some more sauce. The drinks were great, and the variety of tacos we had were also tasty, as was the chicken tortilla soup. Staff kept checking in and making sure everything was going well. A solid choice for Mexican in Bayside! read more

Food is great. Service was absolutely terrible. Thought it was a joke. No plates, no forks, no water. Ended up asking for a plate and fork but never got water. Bill was still over a hundred dollars for two so still have to tip for absolutely horrific service. You can't pretend to be a casual place with regular prices. Offering such bad service, knowing you are going get 20 percent no matter what. We paid it but just take the food to go next time. Not worth it. read more

On 10/22 and 10/21 Avo Taco was giving our free tacos & margaritas. Im biased obviously.. but the food actually slapped chicken & pineapple tacos reminded me of my first taco spot love in cali. Tbh they don't really have tacos like this around the area and this was much needed ! Prickly pear margarita was fantastic, & my bf tried the spicy margarita which had a pretty nice kick also the guacamole wi chips was divine, you can tell by the pic that they had just the perfect amount of crunch.. I will be back! Excited for their launch sometime soon! I know they're open for takeout orders starting Wednesday 10/26 read more

I was searching for a place to come for a lunch break and I saw this AvoTaco had recently opened up in my area so I decided to stop in for a quick bite. When I walked in, it was very busy and I almost decided to take my food to go until the server got me seated pretty quickly, so I appreciate the service! I ordered 3 tacos, The Ami Shroomer, The Coco Loco, and the Calypso Steak Tacos. The Ami Shroomer was my least favorite. It barely had any flavor and was very watery for some reason. The only thing that gave it flavor was the truffle, but other than that it was pretty bland. I wouldn't order it again. The Calypso Steak was my second favorite! I absolutely loved the flavor of the marinated steak, which was sweet and savory. I expected it to be slightly spicy and was a bit disappointed that it wasn't at all spicy. Though, I loved the flavor nonetheless and I would definitely order again! The Coco Loco was my FAVORITE out of the three! It was so delicious, perfect ratio of crispy, spicy and sweet and I absolutely LOVED it! I would order this again for sure and it was so enjoyable! The only thing I didn't like was the Ami Shroomer taco and also when I was trying to pay to leave, all the servers disappeared and I couldn't pay so I can leave to go back to work for a good 20 mins until I flagged a different server than the one serving me. Other than that, AvoTaco was a pretty good lunch spot, and I would come back to try more on their menu! read more

First off, the place is pretty accommodating, didn't expect for it to have that much space inside. I had a prickly pear margarita with a Tajin rim, expected not to like it as much as I did since sometimes that flavor can be too sweet. For tacos I got one shrimp, one chicken and one pork. My favorite was the shrimp, both the pork and chicken were too dry in my opinion. I also got a side of mango guacamole which was pretty good just really small portion. read more

I went there during my break between my two jobs to have to quick bite, I have to admit it, I love this place. Their decorations and ambiance made me felt so relax like I am on my vacation. I felt refreshing just to sit in there. I order 3 different style of Taco to find out which one is better since I never try any of them. I ordered CHIMICHURRI STEAK TACO, COCO LOCO TACO, EL FLACO TACO. OMG! All of them are soooo good. All staffs are very friendly, and attentive. Even though most people will just scan the QR code on the table and ordered though the phone. I saw that the staff walked around to help the elderly couple who didn't know how to do it in a very friendly manner. The best part is you can pay it on the phone after ordering the food, it is good so we don't need to call and wait to pay at the end especially if you are in a rush. Payment was very seamless and efficient. Overall, I love everything about this restaurant, looking forward to go back soon. read more

Was excited to try this, very disappointed at the result. My first warning is that you are not seated by a host; you seat yourself wherever you find an available table. My second warning: you do not have have a server; you are expected to know how to use the tablet for ordering (which was not exactly user friendly). They give you plastic silverware and the food isn't really presented the best. I thought the food itself would be redeeming but myself and the person I was with had some digestion issues afterwards which doesn't typically happen. Also, it was loud lol. I would've liked to have something positive to say but the only thing was the specialty margarita was good. read more

Stars are for visual presentation of food. Walked in yesterday. Lighting above each table is like flood lighting in your eyes. Was welcomed by a wet puddle on my chair that I felt one I sat in it so my pants were wet. Server asked what we would like to order without having given us the menu yet. Felt like air condition was on on a cold winter night- could not take off coat and scarf- too cold. Fast forward to today I'm sick and throwing up from food poisoning. Only things I ate that other guests didn't were mushroom taco and shrimp taco. Guessing it was the shrimp. Now reading health info on yelp- showing many food temp and cleanliness violations including pests. i wish i read that sooner. it's gross- it should be shut down. read more

Avo Taco is a MUCH welcomed fast casual Mexican restaurant to the Bayside neighborhood! I had previously popped in for happy hour so I was happy to see this event in my inbox to give them another go. First and foremost, the vibe is casual and lively with the bright colors, décor and music in the background. Great for decompressing after work or a chill night out. The staff is incredibly sociable and welcoming as they're constantly walking around to check on patrons. Big fan of the ordering process as its super simple via your phone. Food wise we decided to try a smattering of the menu - a bowl, 3 tacos, yuca fries and a few of their drinks. The carnitas bowl was delicious and the portion was solid for the cost. Tacos wise, each taco delivered a distinctly different taste and flavor profile which lends to the idea that there's something for everyone. The sauce for the yuca fries was a welcome addition to the crispy yet moist yuca itself. Last but not least, the drinks - well balanced and well-conceived. Will definitely be back! read more

Light airy vibe, fresh food and good service. I had the blackened shrimp bowl which came with a mix of greens and brown rice. The greens had a lovely champagne dressing which complimented the other flavors of the dish. Good amount of shrimp and avocado too. Also noticed the well stocked bar and menu of extensive cocktails but didn't get to try this time. Great for a quick lunch or casual sit down dinner with friends. Will definitely be coming back here. read more

We ordered take out and I just tried the Truffle Steak Quesadilla. Great choice! Steak was tender, mushrooms and onions were grilled nicely. I can't say much for the truffles because to be perfectly honest, I didn't taste it all. I've always felt that most "Truffle" dishes only come with super thin shavings of it that most people wouldn't even notice. I also tried the Yucca fries and they were very good too. Loaded with some white, pungent cheese that I've never had before. I would definitely order again. read more

As a first timer for this location but not to avo taco following gps to this location could be a little tricky so keep your eyes pealed. There is a private parking lot. Upon walking in, I noticed a register to the immediate left, and directly in front of you is a full bar with chairs along the sides and booths in the back. My mother, daughter, and I decided to grab a high top. We were then greeted by someone with a brown apron as she described everyone that would be assisting us would have a brown apron on . She told us to scan the QR code that is on the table, and from here you would put in a credit card and the able to place your order. Now I have been to have avo taco twice. However, I haven't done this ordering method initially I thought I would not like it. However, it's easy fast and has its perks. To start we ordered the guacamole flight which comes with three choices of guacamole and chips. Now this is what I mean when I say there were some inconsistency with this location and the other location that I went to prior. The taste of the shrimp, chicken I mean the food overall is not the same. What I will say is this is my or may be my first time having happy hour I did have the street corn which was great. We all order tacos I tried the mahi-mahi for the first time it was just OK. I had the shrimp which was good However, my mother did eat the chicken and noticed a difference immediately. I did want to order the yuca fries however, they were sold out and at the end of our meal I did ask about the complementary ice cream and they told me the machine was broken which I think this may have been one of the reasons my daughter wanted to come here. read more

Service good and def come for happy hour!! 1/2 off for drinks and apps!! Love the cocktail options

Someone recommended for us to try this place. It was tasty, but is it rave worthy? I personally wasn't wowed here... this place is more of the fusion type of tacos with an overload of sweet and savory flavors. Maybe I am California biased, but I love my basic street tacos the most. So the tacos here I can eat once in awhile, but I can soon get sick of it. We came during opening hours, so it was empty during our visit. I can imagine it being more of a vibe later in the day. I tried the Californian, Chimichurri Steak, and the Carny. Loved the Carny the most and could do without the Californian next time as I didn't like the way it was fried (Prefer my fish to be beer battered). Would be a good place to catch up with a friend over simple drinks! read more

I ordered twice from Uber eats for Avotaco and on the 2 occasions I never received the Pina Colada that I paid 7.00 plus tax and they had the nerve to give me 5.00 as credit like if they were doing me a favor. When I complained they took away the $5.00 and left me with 1.00. Once I can understand but twice is by unforgivable. Don't purchase from Avotaco I heard they are going out of business. They have a limited menu as of nov 12. Green chili queso is awesome! love that they put toppings on the guacamole here. I've tried the mango and pulled pork. Both are solid. Their chips are hit or miss. Sometimes, fresh and crisp. The 2nd time was a bit soggy and overly salty. The tacos are meh. I've had better. Don't expect authentic tacos. I did enjoy their Sizzlin Grizzlin, floridian and shrimp tacos. Make sure you order ahead, place gets busy especially on the weekend! read more

Ok, so maybe I'm a cranky old man, but I thought the music was too loud and the QR code menu was a bit confusing. The food was alright, I got the tuna montezuma bowl. A bit soggy, but the tuna was pretty good. The service was quick though, which we appreciated. We were there for a few hours and no one bothered us to leave (which we have experienced in the past by other restaurants). 3 stars for the mediocre food, loud music, and confusing menu. But it was nice new spot in bay terrace. read more

I was meeting with some friends and decided to eat at this place since we were in the mood for tacos. We sat outside and used the QR code to order which was convenient- they bring out the food to you after you order. We ordered the quesa birria which came with 3 birria tacos and a small cup of consommé as well as the piggy smalls and floridian tacos, total came out to $29.50 before tip & tax. The amount of meat in the tacos was disappointing... the piece of fish in the Floridian taco looked like a French fry, the middle part of the piece of pork was extremely thin, and there was a sad amount of meat in the birria tacos as well. My friends ordered a quesadilla which was about half-filled with cheese and meat, while the other half was empty. The food tastes pretty good, but the amount of food you get isn't worth it. I definitely won't be coming back here. read more
