I called about a car they had advertised and went to see and purchase it. They were great showing it to me and telling me why another dealer I was dealing with was bad. I told them I would buy the car for the price advertised. When the sales person showed me the itemized invoice it included an extra $2000 charge for a LoJack and related services. I told them I have no interest in a LoJack but wanted to purchase the car for the advertised price. After discussing it at length I was told I had to buy the LoJack if I wanted to purchase the car. I again reiterated that I had cash and would buy the car for the advertised price plus tax's, license and registration. I was told by one of the sales people that this supposed LoJack is how they make their money and if I wanted to purchase the car I would have to pay $2000 over the purchase price (I.e., the LoJack). If you are going to buy a car from them read the paper work carefully. I am going to check with the BBB and whatever state/city agency monitors used car lots as there advertising seems to be false and misleading. read more

I had done plenty of research prior in what kind of car I wanted and the price I wanted to pay (I kept logical with the market in my research). David made all of that possible without hassle. In addition, he encouraged me to go eat some breakfast with my family and discuss the car I was interested in, so there was no pressure, which made my experience that much better. These people are crooks! After being there for four and half hours I found two charges on my bill totalling $1290. One for a lojack, that I thought was included, and one for a paint protection seal that was never mentioned. I was happy to be buying a car, but ended up wasting a whole day instead. FALSE ADVERTISING AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! My Salesperson provided false information regarding the state of the vehicle I was hoping to buy. After assuring me the vehicle in question was in "excellent" shape with no damage, the Salesperson bought me a Lyft to visit the dealership, because he claimed the dealership could not deliver the vehicle to Los Angeles. Upon arriving at the dealership and inspecting the vehicle I identified 8 different areas of visible damage (small and medium sized dents, scratches, paint chips, red color (nail polish?) in the vehicle interior). None of the damage information had been communicated during our prior +10 phone conversations, all of which occurred during a week long period. Completely dissatisfied with my experience, I politely requested to the Salesperson that the dealership provide me a ride home, however my request was refused. Frustrated with my experience, I explicitly communicated my request to the Finance Manager, and eventually the Branch Manager, letting them know that I would appreciate a ride home given the inconvenience and lack of clear communication from their employee. I'll admit I lost my cool when dealing with the Finance Manager, however I was very upset by the fact their poor communication and customer service would result in my of pocket expense, not to mention a complete waste of my time. Despite the inconvenience and lack of service I'd received, I regained my composure prior to speaking with the Branch Manager. When the Branch Manager refused to provide transportation I told him that I was so dissatisfied with my experience and his lack of assistance, that failure to provide free transportation (as I was originally promised by the Salesperson) would result in a BBB complaint and subsequent negative reviews on social media; ideally I wanted to give the Branch Manager the opportunity to fix the situation. Still, the Branch Manager refused to help. Not wanting to make the matter personal, I thanked the Manager for hearing me out, and offered to shake his hand before leaving. Drove an hour out of my way to find out the car and the salesman were not there. Lied about how far away he was to keep me there an additional 50 minutes. Test drive was fine other than all the bro talk. Their "no haggle" mantra comes with "LoJack" that tacks on an additional $695 to every vehicle. They try to hide interest rates and out the door costs. Wasted four hours of my time because of their shady business practices. I would suggest buying a car elsewhere. read more

I was in a bind and was without a vehicle for over a week. I have three children and not much time to look for a car or deal with the long hassle of a purchase. I went to AR car dealership interested in a specific vehicle I had seen online in the inventory. Within the first five minutes I was approached by Jose Solorzano He was not pushy or rude and was so easy to deal with. He assured me their dealership could get me a lower percentage rate than my credit union. The owner, Mike , introduced himself and allowed me to take my time and go grab my babies from school before making a decision. I got them fed and headed back to the lot where they were waiting with all of my paperwork done and ready to go. This is not my first time buying a car with a pre approval from my credit union and most of the time you can not find a dealership that can give you a better deal........ but they did! I was driving away in my new car in less than 45 minutes with a better deal than I initially had hoped for. Mike and Jose and the whole team was handing out high fives as I got into my new car and drove away. They requested a review, so here it is. My girlfriend and I recently purchased a 2016 Toyota Prius C from Auto Republic. We are happy with the car as a whole, but I'm not reviewing the car- I'm reviewing the dealership. First off, we both have credit scores at ~800 and they gave us a terrible interest rate, but wouldn't tell us the interest rate until after we had driven 400 miles to come get the car, and had already put a deposit down. They were not very informative when we were trying to get questions answered, both over the phone and in the dealership. Did not answer many of the questions we had about the warranty, they just said look at the pamphlet. It very much felt like they actually knew very little if not nothing about the car in general. When they brought us the car it was FILTHY, I feel like if you're selling someone a vehicle, whether you're a dealer or not, you should at least make sure the vehicle is clean. Upon washing the car after driving the car 400 miles back home, we discovered that the dirt was covering a number of blemishes that they did not disclose to us. All in all, good car at an average price with below average customer service. Would not recommend this dealership to a friend. read more

This dealership is simply out to take your money, not conduct a reputable business. I took an Uber ($50) after lengthy conversations and with the assurance the car was ready and in good condition. The vehicle took forever to bring up, was in terrible condition and dirty, had 3 maintenance lights on and was priced at least $2k over market (per kbb, truecar, etc). I was told they provide their own analysis for the market. Apparently they know better than huge companies with teams of analysts. Laughable. They also require you to pay for LoJack even if you don't want it. Theft is your problem Auto Republic, again you sure do know your market...no thank you! I wanted to write a review on AR Fullerton but chose to wait a couple months after i bought my car. In December of 2016, I purchased a 2011 BMW 328i Coupe. I went to the dealership the day before I bought it, to simply look at the car. I have researched the car & have had people tell me the cost of maintenance, problems etc. I was hesitant buying a used BMW from a non BMW lot. Johnny, who was outside assisting customers showed great customer service. I asked for a test drive and he directed someone to help me out. I forgot the name of the salesman who took me on a test drive but he was really of no help. I was asking simple questions that he did not have answers to or even attempt to answer, while he was sitting in the passenger seat on his phone. I pretty much had to start up conversation. We circled around the block and arrived at the dealership. Thats when he started talking to me, trying to get me in the office to buy the car. Thats when i really felt that car dealership "sharky" feeling and it turned me away. The next day, I realized I had forgotten my sunglasses in the BMW I test drove. This day had a better energy as I arrived. Johnny showed that same positive, welcoming and honest personality I seen the other day which made me feel better coming back. The BMW was pulled up to the front of the dealership so that I could grab my sunglasses. Seeing the car from the outside made me want to drive it again. This time, a younger gentleman named Eddie or Eddy greeted me with good vibes and an open mind to anything I have to ask. We went on another test drive and this time was a better experience. The car was very shined and detailed inside. Almost overly. Same with the engine bay. It was very shined and no sign of leakage. He told me that they have had this car for about 2 weeks. Also, he said this one was from an auction. (I liked the honesty) And when they buy used cars from auction, they only buy top quality cars and have them well inspected before they do. I was thinking "hmm we'll have to let the car do the talking." After enjoying my test drive I figured I would go for it. I was 23yrs old, had good credit and was approved in maybe 2 & 1/2 hours after the test drive. I traded in my 05 Subaru Legacy toward my purchase and everything worked out. Price went up maybe 2 or 3k of sticker price after all those unnecessary taxs and fees but I still went for it cause I really wanted the car. I got the car. It felt good driving off the lot. A couple days after taking the car home, I noticed smoke coming from the passenger side of the hood. My heart dropped kind of regretting my decision. After checking it I noticed some oil burning from down below. I did some research based on the location of the spill and it turned out to be a leaking valve cover gasket. I called AR and told them about the smoke and oil leak and we set up an appt. to bring it in. I did tell them to check the valve cover gasket. After waiting for maybe 2 hours, one of the mechanics told me it was fine and he basically just cleaned off the burning oil from the leak. I drove home without any smoke, thinking everything was how it should be. The next day, the smoke from the leak was back! I was pretty upset. I wanted some honesty so I went to get it checked out at Irvine BMW. Being upset about having to spend money just a week after buying my car, I am now having my car is inspected by BMW. Just an inspection was around $175 but I didn't have to pay until after. After the inspection, I was more than relieved to hear that yes my valve cover gasket was leaking, but it actually was replaced for no cost because of a recall along with another part! I actually didn't have to pay a thing! Thank God! Since having the valve cover gasket replaced and an oil change, honestly the car hasn't had any problems or issues. I am glad I had waited to give a review a couple months later after buying my car instead of writing a 5 star review right away, based on my excitement of my new car. With my car story being told, I can say that I did get a good car. Yes, Auto Republic is a used car lot. You cannot expect to buy a perfect car from any used car lot. Make sure you do your research before buying any car and be smart. I gave AR 3 stars for the good and the bad but I am happy with my car. It takes reviews to know what to work on as a dealership and to give any buyer a better experience. After 6 months of having my car I want to say thank you Auto Republic Fullerton. I am happy with my car. I gave my honest review and I hope this was helpful. read more

I was directed to AR through my School's First Credit Union and found exactly what I was looking for. I was extremely excited as they had exactly what I was looking for within my price parameters and were recommended through my credit union for easy shopping. However, the advertised price did not match the out the door price (excluding normal sales tax and registration fees which are to be expected) because they added on a total of $2500.00 in "options" to the vehicle that are not optional nor included in the listing price. It falsely advertises at "great price" or "great value" when listed at the incorrect price. Considering this car has been on the lot for over 11 months I tried negotiating with them regarding the features they added on and they refused to remove them and told me they would rather the car sit there then meet my reasonable offer and lower their out the door price by less than $1700.00. If you are ok with being baited at a lower price and willing to pay their bogus "add-on" fees despite it not adding any real value to the vehicle, this may be the place for you as I will never shop there again. read more

First, people working there were nice people. I give them that. They will not negotiate on price period. After few days, I decided to buy the car for their listed price. I asked them for the OTD price including license, taxes and fees. The fees alone were $1500 not including tax. I asked them several times what the details the fees are. $900 license fee and $377 safe guard fee. Asked them what safe guard fee is since I have never seen that before. They would not answer. Ended up buying the same car from Acura dealer certified preowned for less than than this dealership with 100k miles warranty. Acura dealer's license and fees were less than $500 not including taxes. read more

I submitted an inquiry on a 2012 Lexus RX450H that I had found online and was fairly quickly put into contact with Cesar Pina. I had responded to his automated reply to my inquiry by requesting some casual detailed information on the car such as; what it was they replaced and repaired upon them taking the vehicle in and to get it ready to sell (they said they could not find any of that paperwork), I asked for information on the Carfax and was quickly provided a link to the Auto Republic of Fullerton website.. (uh ok). I also asked Cesar to pencil me a deal based off of some figures I discussed and got no reply at all, I understand it's the car industry and you want to get your leads in through the door but when somebody tells you they want to make it a quick and easy CASH deal, you should be able to provide them the information they need to purchase the car. Whatever, I was need of a car very badly due to having listed my car for sale and it selling much faster than I anticipated, I was left without a car and READY to buy! Cesar set me up an appointment at 5pm. When I got there and walked over to the car, we were greeted and helped by somebody who was not Cesar. Apparently he had already left for the day and had no plans of returning as he was off shift.. weird but okay. Andrew became our salesperson and returned with the key only to discover the battery in the vehicle was completely DEAD. He had to hop in and crawl through the back seats to manually open the rear trunk door, from there it was a call to a service advisor to let us know where to jump start the battery from without affecting the hybrid battery. We took the car on a test drive through the city and freeway with the battery being charged the whole time, in hopes that it would eventually hold a bit of the charge.**It didn't** When we got back to the lot the car shut off IMMEDIATELY after we disconnected the battery charger, the car wasn't even in Park. Meaning, if the battery was to have become disconnected during the test drive or while we were on the freeway the car would have shut down in the exact same manner. DANGEROUS! Foolishly, I really really liked the car and wanted to give them the benefit of every doubt possible. Apparently the car had already been sitting on the lot over 100+ days when I went to go see it back in early March, Andrew said he didn't think anybody had moved it or even started it in a while as the battery was as dry as bone. Upon further inspection of the vehicle we noticed that out of the 4 tires on the car, only two were the same (back tires) and the front two were both different AND one tire was completely leaking and letting out air almost as if it were flat, we also noticed that one of the lower rear brake light bulbs was out. Andrew stepped up and assured us that all of these issues would and could be fixed at no cost to us if we purchased the vehicle, I realllly wanted to drive away that night and stop my search for my Lexus hybrid but after so many little things going wrong within such a short time frame (No paperwork, No service records, Dead Battery & Alternator, Flat Tire, 3 Different Tires, Burnt Bulb, etc.) and on top of that they wanted to charge for LoJack lol... an anti-theft system that typically smaller used car lots install on all of their vehicles and aim to target at lower income buyers or credit qualifiers for sketchy & repo-ready deals. I appreciate all of Andrews work and him being an honest, and easy going sales person to work with. I deal with sales people all day and Andrew was the kind I would recommend, Cesar is the exact opposite. Fortunately, my roommate who came with me persuaded me to wait until Monday when they could fix everything that was wrong with the car before I'd drive it home. By the time Monday afternoon came around I had still not received any confirmation on if they had started working on the vehicle or if it would be ready for pick up after I got off of work that day. I was getting anxious and nervous about having to do all the following up myself and while waiting for their responses, I decided to not go through with the purchase. I can only imagine what would have happened if I tried making it home that night... be careful of the cars you look at, inspect them thoroughly for any previous body work or frame damage, look at the paint jobs on most of the cars (the cars are parked all super close to each other and I saw some sales people hitting the doors of other cars while opening vehicles for their customers), and have EVERY car you are THINKING of buying from here mechanically inspected BEFORE YOU BUY!! read more

Don't ever ever ever pay more than apx 10% over the price of the car in taxes and fees. Meaning if a you negotiate a price ultimately of $20k your final paperwork should state apx $22k 'total price.' They had a nice explorer listed just under $17k. When I made an offer and sat down with the rep what was written down was apx $19.5k reflecting over 14% all in based on the list price. Not to mention no offer to take in trade my old but well cared for 03 Navigator (probably at auction would fetch $2k). So no discount off the list, no trade in and apx $1k in unknown fees. I've bought a dozen cars over the years and you young unsuspecting buyers this review is really for you. Also, the sales rep new nothing of the car, features, rating, motor, etc. All that said, they have great product and a very cool dealerships (I also went to the Santa Ana store). I suspect they drive traffic by aggressively pricing vehicles on the web then charge extra fees. I never went far enough to discuss financing but I suspect the same shenanigans would occur. If you do - please break out your phone when signing and pull up one of the many 'car loan calculator' and literally calculate your payment on the spot to make sure the rate is as stated.
