Had a very bad experience at their Fullerton branch. I saw a Honda Civic on TrueCar based at Auto Republic, and after reading good Yelp reviews considered it to be a reliable place. I then visited their Fullerton branch a week back. The car seemed to be good deal, the people were flexible and friendly. Just before making up my mind to buy the car, i thought of taking it to my mechanic for a check. I was shocked when the mechanic told me nothing about the car was right. He said that the computer of the car had been reset (typically to hide the history of the car), the tires were worn out and battery drained. The car wouldn't even pass a smog check. The mechanic failed the car and advised me not to go ahead with it. Please get the car checked by a professional before blindly believing these dealers! read more

Had a great experience shopping for a replacement vehicle today. The price was very competitive and the staff are effective at making things as smooth as possible. Even being short staffed, Chris and Eddie were able to move quickly dealing with many customers at once. It was a long night, as these things usually are, but they bought everyone who was waiting pizza. All of the details were taken care of while we were there. Everything was well explained, paperwork went quick and Chris filled the gas tank up a bit because it was low. Overall, I think they did a fantastic job. Definitely take a look here! read more

Chris was a no nonsense guy when it came to purchasing my 2014 Toyota Tacoma. Very straight forward which I like. No sales pressure or demanding pressure. He even went out of his way to personally wash my truck (they don't offer washing services) and used his own cash to put gas in it for me. I would buy from him again read more

Walked in, Chris took really good care of us, was in and out within an hour and a half! Very professional, answered all of our questions without hesitation. You need a car, come here and speak to Chris! read more

TLDR:Quick and relatively painful, however not transparent about small problems, extra prices and fees. Chris helped me out. Overall a good experience. He was strate forward with expected out the door price. I would recommend asking to see what all the costs are after and pick and choose what you don't want/want because they won't show if you don't ask. Once I asked the price of the car went down over $700 just by removing some fees. Would be 5* if they disclosed what those fees were without me having to pry. Also check if your key buttons work before leaving... Mine don't work/no battery. They also didn't notify me of this. read more

Buyer Beware: the cost of the car you're coming in to check out is actually $1,500 MORE than is listed. They AUTOMATICALLY put unnecessary add-ons on EVERY VEHICLE. (Lo-Jack and a "clear coat" - both items you cannot see - so funny! And things you DO NOT NEED!) So that right there eliminates your ability to negotiate a price because you're "already getting these add-ons" - so they say they're going to see if they can get it down to the price you came in for... it's just a racket. I was told by Emilio that is what all dealerships are doing these days and it's right there in fine print on their website.... so it's typical for this industry? I think it's just a shady way of adding $1,500 to the price of the car and leveraging their selling price. AND there's no warranty- it's "as/is" - so what's the benefit of coming here? We ended up leaving. Just didn't feel right - I don't care how nice your car is. Bye! read more

Do not miss out on a great experience and customer service at Auto Republic. I want to give a big thank you to Chris and Argenis for going up and beyond on getting my new vehicle. I strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for a car purchase. Thank you guys, again!! read more

These guys were great to work with. Shout out to Andrew, Eddie and Harold for their hard work. We bought an 04 Honda Element from them a few weeks ago and I have no complaints. These guys work hard to make it as easy as possible to buy a car. They were easy to work with and no high pressure to buy. I gave them 4 stars only because I wish we could have haggled the price down a little bit, not because of customer service. Thanks again guys for all your hard work. Wayland Collins read more

Auto Republic Fullerton - Car Dealers Near Me - Fullerton, California

After searching for a Jeep Grand Cherokee with 4wd, I was discouraged because so many at other dealerships had undisclosed issues such as rust and damage from road salt. It seemed like I wouldn't be able to find what I was looking for. And then I saw the listing. 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo X -4x4. The pictures looked great but ya never know... I called Auto Republic and spoke with Marco Bernal. Marco confirmed the car was on the lot and set an appointment. When I arrived the Jeep was as advertised- great condition inside and out. Marco was with another client so the wait was a lot longer than I expected. I wanted a test drive but a couple people in my party needed to be elsewhere, we had waited a bit longer but had to leave. Saturday seems heavy day at Auto Republic, so be prepared to wait. I left and came back. Marco was available and helped with a test drive right away. He offered a sincere apology for being busy earlier. I told him it was no problem. As a customer, taking time matters to me. I found Marco to be open and personable. He was knowledgeable about the Jeep and pointed out all of the awesome features while I drove. Test drive went great! I went back and decided to buy the Jeep. It had everything I was looking for and then some. Marco walked me through all the paperwork and helped me get a fair price for my trade. He was upfront about costs and at no point did I feel like I was being pushed into something I was uncomfortable with. Auto Republic is a no haggle dealership so what you see what you get. I think it's great because the sales staff doesn't give off any slimy vibes. It's a no pressure approach. Finance was able to work through my unique situation and completing the paperwork with David was a breeze. He took his time and showed me the Carfax as well as a couple of other disclosures. No surprises during signing. It was the most painless car purchase I've ever had. I would recommend the Fullerton location and Marco in particular. Erica also helped get things started so thanks to her as well. Great experience and I love my Jeep! read more

Chris was our sales person and I can't say enough positive things about him. He walked us through the whole buying process. Chris gave us his card if we had any questions and he was a man of his word. read more

Dont waste your time. The prices online aren't actual prices when you get down there. Auto Republic marks up all their cars when you get there and add on sleazy car salesman stuff like "LoJack" and "Paint Protection". You don't want it but you gotta pay for it, scum car salesman tactics. LoJack could be removed and what they charge is actually double the price from purchasing from LoJack installed. You don't need LoJack, that's 10 year old tech and gps trackers nowadays are $30-50 with same or even better services. Paint protection is a coup@3 strips of ppf on door edges, your grandparents could install those but it cost $500 from Auto Republic. Wish I read reviews first to stay away, their low prices are honestly to bait customers and switch them up in these scummy add on items to rip off customers. read more

UNETHICAL, ZERO TACT! TONS OF ADDED FEES!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!! NOT WORTH YOUR TIME!!!! My husband and I loved the car, the sales customer service was great. Everything seemed too good to be true - BECAUSE IT WAS!! Once we started getting into the paperwork we realized they added over $1k in add-ons that aren't required AND we were not asked if we wanted (GAP coverage, extra theft insurance). Because we read everything we stopped them and made them remove this from our contract (it's cheaper elsewhere). LESS THAN 24 HOURS LATER - the dealership called us to tell us our APR increased 1.4% and we needed to drive back and sign a new contract or return the car with zero restocking fee. Then a couple hours later (bc we're working) they tell us we have to pay the $500 restock fee (for a car we drove home, less than 25miles and had for less than 24hrs). How can someone charge $500 for a contract that is NOW VOID DUE TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE - AS THEY WERE THE ONES THAT JUMPED THE GUN AND TYPED UP THE APR INCORRECTLY (per our credit union who confirmed with the dealership that the dealership made the error on their end). And the Sales Manager has the audacity to say if we didn't like it we can bring back the car and they'll sell it to someone else (as he chuckled about it). I REPEAT - DO NOT GO HERE!!!! The sales rep Chris was okay but NOT WORTH THE UNPROFESSIONALISM AND DECEIT!!! 9/16/20: Hi Ella, Thank you for the reply, and thank you for proving our first point about having no tact. We are well aware of our own credit and understand how APR tiers work. Thank you for that reminder, however you missed the point.  Unfortunately, your guys decided to approve a contract for a vehicle claiming our bank approved everything. This was deceit #1. Then your guys tried to add unnecessary charges as if they were all normal. This was deceit #2. Then your guys allowed us to walk out the door with one of your vehicles and a completed contract.  Then, THE NEXT DAY, your guys claimed the bank made the error, and we had to come back to redo paperwork or we could "part our separate ways." This was deceit #3, since parting our separate ways came with a $500 restock fee due to "wear and tear" and "millage"...off of your lot for less than 24 hours, the car went 30 total miles, and sat in our garage over night. It was really nice of you to settle on $250 so that this would be over. Now you guys can almost afford another LowJack at cost.  Finally, promote Junior. Although he oversaw the failed deal, he is the only real human being we encountered. He tried to save the deal, and went above and beyond to do so. He seemed to understand our frustrations, and he showed actual empathy. However, Auto Republic's suspect business practices surrounding our purchase were something we couldn't overlook, and ultimately we took our business elsewhere read more

I'm surprised that they didn't kick us out for being so difficult haha. So we spent like two days looking for a car because I'm so picky and couldn't decide. Tito was awesome! Didn't pressure me into something I didn't want. Ended up with a 2012 Infiniti G25 and couldn't be happier. read more

Just purchased a vehicle the other day, went on a trip to New Mexico a couple days later and 2 hours into the drive I find out oil has been gushing from a tampered bolt and the entire rear of the car is doused in oil. The car was burning without oil at this point. The smell was terrible. The entire car was freaking out, dashboard beeping loudly. I was stranded on the 40 in the middle of the desert with no way to get home. A tow cost $700 and the repair is still underway for atleast $500 to repair a stripped hole which was why a cover was not sealed properly. There was no way they didn't know this car had issues. It had been cleaned prior to me buying. I had to book a bus home, it was a nightmare. I still have to book a bus back to retrieve the car. Nobody should ever go through this. An entire trip ruined, scary experience, and now I'm down a load of money. Never trust these guys. read more

UPDATE: 4/22- wow their response was amazing. Thank you to Ella, Saloman, jonathan. They took care of the car issues in a timely manner. I'm super pleased and touched that they cared to make it right. I feel confident that they truly care for the customer. 4/20- ok I'm defeated, there is a loud clunking noise when I turn right. Loud, like something cracks. I should of bought a new car. I'm so sad hop so after owning the car for a couple of weeks we figured out that the speedometer lights weren't working. So guess what, they were disconnected. Lo and be hold, the check engine light was on when they got connected. Ran the code and it turns out 3 sensors are not working. Wow! I wanted to trust them so much. The dealer had paperwork that stated they did their full inspection. Well how did they miss that. We did notice because during the day no one turns on their head lights. Wow. I'm so sad. I wish I would of known to check. I am knocking them two stars because I feel that someone dropped the ball during their inspections. Will email the company and I hope and pray they will help me. We put down all the money we had to buy this car. I don't currently have money to fix things that should of been fixed before they sold the car. Sad just sa Let's start with Chris the salesman. He's patient, kind and a pleasure to work with. He went above and beyond to make us feel happy with our purchase. Andrew the finance gentlemen was super nice, talkative and friendly. We recently bought a car there. We are loving our car so far. The only thing I wish that the company it's self would be more upfront with is LoJack. It's added to all their vehicles in their lot and it's not optional, it's included and they don't take it off. So it's an additional $895 from the sticker price of the car. It's noted on the fine print on their website. We ended up purchasing the car because the low milage for the year and because my daughter loved it. I'm happy overall but couldn't rate 5 stars because the business. But I give five stars to Chris and Andrew. Will up read more

Their advertised "great deal" price on Guru forgets the fine print which requires almost $1,300 in mandatory, unnecessary BS purchases (Lo-Jack and undercoating). So this review is for their shady practices even before I set foot on the place. I was interested in one of their vehicles and was in the process of filling out their prequalification application online. About 80% into it, I had to stop and tend to other matters. I DID NOT press 'Submit Application' and in fact when I opened up my laptop the application page was still there incomplete. Lo and behold I get a voicemail from one of their salesperson requesting for me to call him back. Then I get an alert on my credit monitoring service notifying me that 'Auto Republic Fka Sw C' submitted a hard inquiry on my credit report. I was disturbed that a company whom I did not give my consent to ran my report. Then I started wondering whether they were keylogging my entries in their application. So I started a new private browser, entered in a fake alias and my google voice number on the application and did nothing else but leave it up on my screen. Then five minutes later, 'Eduardo' from Auto Republic Fullerton called my Google Voice number asking for me to return his call to answer any questions I may have on my interest on a vehicle. I contacted Eduardo and confronted him with these shady business practice. He basically put it on the finance office. He stated he will have his finance director give me a call. Needless to say, no one called me back. I've filled out prequalification applications before and this shady company was the first to even log my key presses. I will be contacting the BBB and leave reviews where I can. STAY AWAY! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Upated 09/23/2020 Cool. Thanks, Ella. Glad you admitted to keylogging, which is creepy and unethical. I'm 100% sure I did not click 'agree' nor 'submit' the application like I was 100% sure you were keylogging. I feel sorry for anyone that has to go through a dealership like this. Very shady place... My car was totaled and i had 5 days to buy another car before I had to give my rental back. I saw a truck that caught my eye and the mileage and price seemed pretty fair. After negotiating getting the broken antenna fixed and trying to get a new set of tires put on (30% left) Which is legal...That's how I was told...But they couldn't put a set on this day and I was told to come and do it 2 days from then. Nothing in writing, was told to trust them...I wasn't comfortable with that and it being a non-warrantied truck, so I purchased a 2 day insurance on the truck for $250. Why I didn't walk away after these red flags,I don't know...The stress of the accident and having to buy another car within a certain time frame (5 days) so I'd have it for work. The price of the truck, with pretty low mileage and the hope that the nightmare stories I've heard weren't true. The truck was a lemon and had multiple things wrong with it, including engine issues which started to show as truck warmed up. How do you not know after an all points check that the car you are selling has the problems it had? I paid a hefty price ($500) for my negligence and my willing to not listen to my gut about shops like this. They are there to move cars at whatever cost. The $500 was a restocking fee...Why not offer some of the $500 back as a sign of good faith? You guys are trash and Karma will catch up. read more

I Do Not Recommend Auto Republic Car Sold to me with Problems: In December 2021 I purchased a car from Auto Republic, Fullerton and a month later the handle cover fell off the car while I was driving it. Another week later, a major hose broke while I was driving and I incurred over a $500 repair bill. Auto Republic sells cars that have not been properly inspected. Although I communicated with the manager Harold several times about the handle cover falling off, he never followed through to help me. If I have any other major problems with this car, I will consult an attorney to see if they can help me recuperate the costs. Problem with Purchase: Auto Republic screwed up my car purchase by sending the car title to the wrong bank. I was under pressure from my bank that they would have to pull my credit again because it took so long to straighten out the mess. Purchase Experience: I traveled to Auto Republic, Fullerton from San Diego because I was interested in the Volvo that was advertised for $16,500. They very sneakily add $2000 in fees for powder coated wheels and Lojack that they don't include in the listed purchase price of the car online. I got the price down a bit but apparently not enough. In addition, when I was leaving the car dealership they knew I was traveling back to San Diego, and although they told me that had filled up the gas tank, I realized after I left that they only filled the tank up half-way. That was a really low thing to do but not surprising to me now. I know it is a tough time to purchase a vehicle, but you would do better elsewhere. read more

Let me start by saying DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM CHRIS OR TITO!! I got my car from this place and it was a NIGHTMARE! Chris is beyond typical slimball car salesman trying to impress you with a FAKE diamond watch and a Coach belt! The two things DON'T even match! He will lie and waste time playing all the typical sales games. Constantly telling you that he sells more cars than anyone there. Which isn't hard to do since he's the ONLY person selling cars when you arrive. Tito, is equally a slimball, but will hook you to get you there then pretend that he's off for the day while ear hustling your conversations and reporting back to Chris. I had issues with my car a day after purchase and they overcharged for things that you Don't want and for sure don't need. If I had to do it all over again, I t would be a HARD NO for me!! And I say this with ALL certainty and conviction! BTW, I had my own financing and they acted as if they had to do extra work to get me financing DON'T DO IT!! read more

I visited them recently to look at a used Sprinter van (advertised for $38900). The sales person who assisted me (Chris) was friendly and didn't waste too much of my time. However, the out-the-door price included about $1800 worth of extra stuff (such as Lojack and some security feature) that were not included in the list price but I was told that I had no choice but to get them. I pretty much offered to purchase the van for the list price plus taxes and necessary fees but their final out-the-door number was about $1800 higher -- coincidence? My disappointment wasn't so much that they tried to include the features I didn't ask for but the fact that they had not included them in the list price. I walked away. read more

I called about a car they had advertised and went to see and purchase it. They were great showing it to me and telling me why another dealer I was dealing with was bad. I told them I would buy the car for the price advertised. When the sales person showed me the itemized invoice it included an extra $2000 charge for a LoJack and related services. I told them I have no interest in a LoJack but wanted to purchase the car for the advertised price. After discussing it at length I was told I had to buy the LoJack if I wanted to purchase the car. I again reiterated that I had cash and would buy the car for the advertised price plus tax's, license and registration. I was told by one of the sales people that this supposed LoJack is how they make their money and if I wanted to purchase the car I would have to pay $2000 over the purchase price (I.e., the LoJack). If you are going to buy a car from them read the paper work carefully.
