10 stars for Tareq!! So, after we caught a guy on camera walking around our home, peeping in windows, trying to open outside doors, I gave AKG a call. This also after a failed attempt by someone to kick in our back door. Scope of work: 2 hardware installs, replacing multiple new knobs and deadbolts and rekeying several locks (bc I missed the matching number system on packages at the my local Home superstore) Michael took my call, listened, and told me he could have someone out same day. Huge relief! Locksmith Tareq, who actually came out a couple years back, was dispatched. Tareq asked questions to understand our situation and how to best meet our needs. He made a few recommendations in addition to the deadbolts, one of which was a security lock thing-a-ma-jig, which I'd never seen or heard of before. We got a couple of those installed for extra reinforcement and all is working great. I feel a whole lot better knowing our locks are in working order and plan to call AKG for my locksmith work. read more

I actually called a different locksmith first because their name popped up first to find they were so rude on the phone and tried to overcharge me as well, so I called Austin Key Guy. They were so nice, came the same day, gave me a key almost identical to my missing one, and charged me a whopping $85 less than their competitor was going to. My replacement key fob did have a faulty battery so I had to call them again two weeks later, however they came the same day again and fixed the key for free, even without me having my receipt. I texted here, which the app said was OK to do, asking for an ignition key for a 2007 BMW. It's a smart key, which his website says they do. BMWs are mentioned specifically on the website, so thought it would be a good fit. I sent him the information about my vehicle and he responded telling me that only a dealer can make these keys, which I know to be completely false because I've had two made it before when my purse was stolen. When I mentioned this, he then proceeded to tell me that if the software hasn't been updated, it was possible, but he told me to call someone else (despite the fact that the website very clearly says he makes BMW transponder keys). He referred me to somebody that I can only assume is a friend and described this person as likely the only person that was going to be a able to get into my car. Again, I know this to be false since I've had keys made before, and I think thanked him for his time and found somebody who is at my vehicle and hour later with a new key made. I didn't like my communications with this person, I'm shocked he has so many great reviews. Why do you have something listed on the website as a service if you don't actually perform that service?? That's false advertising and it makes you a liar. read more

We are over charged for a scheduled residential rekey job! We always use Mr Rekey in the past. I wanted to try a local business during this pandemic time. I called this business on Tuesday, asked if they have the similar deal as Mr Rekey. Michael who answered the phone told me that they would charge $125 for 6 doors and 4 copies instead of $99 by Mr. Rekey. with extra $25 more we can get one more copy of the key. so I scheduled for Friday appt.. Michael came over on time, that we appreciate, finished the job as expected. I couldn't be present so asked our realtor to pay him. Our realtor send the receipt which surprised me since he charged her much higher than $125. I don't know what in his mind when he did that to us. I called and confronted him. He said that he did extra three doors for us. We don't need rekey more than 6 exterior doors we have and our realtor said that he only did 6 doors. I am very upsetting with his mistreating my trust and feel stupid to call this business for our rekey business. Just hope my post is a reminder to people who want to dealing with this business not get tricked by being too trustful to them.. read more

My husband and I were locked out of our very old 2-car garage, which unfortunately had no alternate means of entry. Not an emergency, but we were planning to put away our holiday decorations over the weekend and I was hoping to get in there quickly. I wrote a message to Adam late at night, which he responded to almost immediately (to my surprise!) saying to text him in the morning and we would figure it out. I did exactly that, and Michael, a senior technician, scheduled us for later that day. I was thrilled. We thought we had time to get to IKEA and back before our appointment, which was really quite foolish, and unfortunately we were late to meet him at our house. However, when we got there he was already mostly done with his work! He replaced the locks on both doors, provided us with two extra spare keys, and was well-mannered and polite, despite our own rudeness in being so late. I have gotten several bids when I lost my original and only set of car key. Although this company is not the most cheapest bid, but the fact that it is the only company that offers 2 years warranty makes it all worthwhile. Chris was honest with me from the start, he mentioned most automobile locksmith will not offer warranty, and he was right which is why I went with the him. I paid for two keys, one was defective (not his fault) he was still responsive considering it is now under the warranty. He was willing to come by my workplace make me a copy of key and to replace defective key.I did not have to go through claiming warranty and all the loopholes. This company is also veterans.
