Our management company hired Mr. Rekey to come repair some locks on our back door. Our security bolt was coming off and our door handle was sticking, sometimes turning, sometimes not. The employee he sent was terrific. He determined the problems with the pieces and replaced them. He also tightened the other locks on the other external doors. I hadn't realized how some were showing a bit of looseness. I appreciated that he went that extra step. We feel a lot more secure in our home now. I highly recommend Mr. Rekey! read more

Mr ReKey is a HORRIBLE company and I will never use their services again. Ever since they became corporate owned they seem to have zero sensibility (and frankly humanity). I used this company for a few different re-keys and and security measures as required in Austin for rental properties. I have been a customer for almost twenty years (seriously, twenty years). In all fairness I have gone through the leasing company but I have paid every invoice directly to Mr ReKey. I recently locked myself out of my house. So of course, being a long time client of Mr ReKey, I called them for assistance. They insisted I provide a credit card number or they couldn't (and wouldn't) help me. I explained that all of that was inside the house but noted that they have me on file - which he confirmed. So in my hour of desperation they failed me. Remember, almost twenty years and they have my address and telephone number on file ... okay then, can you please recommend another company that might be able to help me. NOPE, "we don't do that". Of course I turned to the internet and found an amazing locally owned company who actually still offers real and decent customer service. I encourage you to do the same. You'll actually get better customer service and some humanity, something that Mr ReKey no longer can provide. **Please note, I really dislike and rarely write negative reviews. Knobs are scratched, locking is not smooth as used to be, one lock now clicks when locking used to be smooth turn with no effort. The guy said it's not rekey issue although it's rekeying issue! I had to remove the lock myself and it clicks inside the lock which was rekeyed. Awful job. read more

We've used this company many times for rekeying. They are reliable and have a good price. They won't do work without approval so once they give an estimate, if they run into problems where it will cost more, they tell you about it and get approval before doing the work. read more

Our locksmith replaced the locks on our new home and made it so that one key would work for the gate, garage, and front door. She came on time and worked quickly. Additionally (and at no extra cost to us), she leveled our front gate (to make sure that the deadbolt actually went into the hole), and she re-installed longer screws onto our garage door to make it more stable and easier to open/close. read more

Mr Rekey was required by our property management to use. When their technician came by my home with at the end of the window they said they would arrive by, my roommate asked to if there was anyway to reschedule. He informed us there would be a fee, she said nevermind now works. With that information he just left. Charging us eighty dollars. The tech never told us he was leaving, even when he was told we were available now. After explaining this to management they won't relieve us of any of the fees. Sad a small miscommunication with a young man can ruin your view of a whole business. No grace. read more

I needed locks rekeyed in a rental property in Texas. We have previously used general handymen. But Mr Rekey was amazing. Extremely organized and communicative. They rekeyed 3 locks and for the fourth they suggested swapping out the cylinder to match the others. Really great company. We didn't use them to swap smoke alarms as their price per smoke alarm was a too high and there are 6 of them. But for rekeying they are the best, most reliable, and most reasonable. Earlier that same day we had a not-so-good experience with our moving company which frustrated me SO MUCH! It was great to have someone come in that was so sweet (which totally calmed me down btw). I kept envisioning a crazy person busting into my house and starting mess because even though he'd given me the keys back, he is, as previously stated, crazy. Great re-keying! However, I now understand why it's relatively cheap. They try to upsell you on a security system. They tried to upsell my elderly mother a security system. I don't appreciate trying to sell my mother on stuff that's unnecessary. If I wanted a security system, I'll call a security specialist. Just rekey the property, thanks. read more

The guy arrived nearly 2 hours late. I drove from out of town to sit at my new place during the 2 hour window that was given. Drug dirt and debris into the house. Generally unfriendly, which I normally wouldn't list on here, but for someone who arrived extremely late without a courtesy call (I had to call twice to get any information as to where this person was) I feel some apology was necessary. I have used Mr. Rekey for the past 4 years for my rental properties. I have wasted so much time today on hold on the phone trying to schedule an appointment for a rekey that I am giving up on them. I was on hold 10 minutes the first time I called and then just hung up when they asked to put me on hold again to look up the address. I tried later and quit after 4 minutes on hold without speaking to anyone. Waste of time. read more
