Recently used Mr Rekey to perform service on same residence several years later (rekey 7 doors, 9 locks). Wow. The franchise has grown. The first time it was the owner operator and that was it. He is now retiring and has a massive crew. No worries. Fast and simple scheduling. Able to come within a week. Arrived on time. Courteous and incredibly fast service. Price increased ever so slightly, but after over a decade I would have expected it to be a lot more. Bravo! HIGHLY RECOMMEND read more

Our management company hired Mr. Rekey to come repair some locks on our back door. Our security bolt was coming off and our door handle was sticking, sometimes turning, sometimes not. The employee he sent was terrific. He determined the problems with the pieces and replaced them. He also tightened the other locks on the other external doors. I hadn't realized how some were showing a bit of looseness. I appreciated that he went that extra step. We feel a lot more secure in our home now. I highly recommend Mr. Rekey! read more

Mr ReKey is a HORRIBLE company and I will never use their services again. Ever since they became corporate owned they seem to have zero sensibility (and frankly humanity). I used this company for a few different re-keys and and security measures as required in Austin for rental properties. I have been a customer for almost twenty years (seriously, twenty years). In all fairness I have gone through the leasing company but I have paid every invoice directly to Mr ReKey. I recently locked myself out of my house. So of course, being a long time client of Mr ReKey, I called them for assistance. They insisted I provide a credit card number or they couldn't (and wouldn't) help me. I explained that all of that was inside the house but noted that they have me on file - which he confirmed. So in my hour of desperation they failed me. Remember, almost twenty years and they have my address and telephone number on file ... okay then, can you please recommend another company that might be able to help me. NOPE, "we don't do that". Of course I turned to the internet and found an amazing locally owned company who actually still offers real and decent customer service. I encourage you to do the same. You'll actually get better customer service and some humanity, something that Mr ReKey no longer can provide. **Please note, I really dislike and rarely write negative reviews. But when a company is so egregiously gross I will. And here you have it.** read more

Knobs are scratched, locking is not smooth as used to be, one lock now clicks when locking used to be smooth turn with no effort. The guy said it's not rekey issue although it's rekeying issue! I had to remove the lock myself and it clicks inside the lock which was rekeyed. Awful job. read more

We've used this company many times for rekeying. They are reliable and have a good price. They won't do work without approval so once they give an estimate, if they run into problems where it will cost more, they tell you about it and get approval before doing the work. read more

Our locksmith replaced the locks on our new home and made it so that one key would work for the gate, garage, and front door. She came on time and worked quickly. Additionally (and at no extra cost to us), she leveled our front gate (to make sure that the deadbolt actually went into the hole), and she re-installed longer screws onto our garage door to make it more stable and easier to open/close. read more

Mr Rekey was required by our property management to use. When their technician came by my home with at the end of the window they said they would arrive by, my roommate asked to if there was anyway to reschedule. He informed us there would be a fee, she said nevermind now works. With that information he just left. Charging us eighty dollars. The tech never told us he was leaving, even when he was told we were available now. After explaining this to management they won't relieve us of any of the fees. Sad a small miscommunication with a young man can ruin your view of a whole business. No grace. read more

Super reliable rekey service in the Austin area. Their prices always seem fair as well. I've been using them for years.

Overall I had a great experience with the locksmith that came out. She was on time, actually even early and was patient in waiting for me to arrive at my rental unit. Also provided a call ahead to let me know she was on the way. Very honest and direct, no hassle or any recommends for upcharge. I am definitely going to be a repeat customer! Superb service and professionalism! read more

I needed locks rekeyed in a rental property in Texas. We have previously used general handymen. But Mr Rekey was amazing. Extremely organized and communicative. They rekeyed 3 locks and for the fourth they suggested swapping out the cylinder to match the others. Really great company. We didn't use them to swap smoke alarms as their price per smoke alarm was a too high and there are 6 of them. But for rekeying they are the best, most reliable, and most reasonable. Will definitely use them again! read more

What a great experience! Adam was so knowledgeable and helped me make the smartest decisions (rekeying deadbolts, etc.) for our new home. We feel so much safer after knowing numerous people had access to the previous key while the house was for sale. Adam even sawed off an old, unclaimed lockbox for which nobody knew a code. We are all locked up now and super grateful. Thanks! read more

They have a system in place that is new but awesome when working right. I use them frequently and they give personal service when something goes wrong. I've used them for years and normally would give a five star rating, but their new system is confusing. Mark read more

I called around 7:45AM and they were there at 9. The locksmith was pretty efficient and got the job done, plus provided an extra key that I had lost in the first place. Overall great experience given the situation. read more

The locksmith Raven did an excellent job in rekeying our locks. She had an excellent attitude and was very knowledgeable as a locksmith. I would highly recommend them for any residential locksmith work. She was on time and very efficient. read more

My property manager used Mr. Rekey to have them rekey my doors and add additional padlocks on my house. Raven was very nice, professional, and efficient. She did a great job getting everything done as well as helping replace a broken latch. Thank you Raven! read more

Mr Rekey has always been our go to locksmith. Reasonable, timely and caring at every turn. Highly recommend them.

John was able to quickly and professionally get me back into my home. What a relief!

Mr. Rekey did an excellent job rekeying locks with doors I had keys for an even doors that there wasn't a key for. I highly recommend them.

Mr rekey is the best...it's the most affordable and prompt! As a realtor I need rekey service a LOT...Mr Rekey NEVER disappoints!

Really enjoyed working with Ernie at Mr. Rekey. I was in need of a thoughtful and professional deadbolt job on my new rental home in Austin. Ernie reached out to me before, during, and after the work was done at my place. He provided thoughtful advice on quality hardware, how to make sure I was within code, and the best way to install all equipment. I'm very pleased with the same day work he did on all three doors at my place! I would definitely use this business in the future and am happy to recommend them to anyone needing quality locksmith or rekey work. Oh, and of course... Ask for Ernie! read more

The technician was very professional and friendly and courteous I recommend Mr Rekey to anyone.

Appointment was easy to make, service was great. Locksmith arrived promptly on schedule, replaced and rekeyed two doors all within the hour. Would highly recommend to others looking for similar services. read more

We just moved and wanted a locksmith to rekey everything. Our realtor had recommended Mr Rekey. They came out the same day. Even called to let us know he was on his way. Chris Wenzel changed the locks very quickly. He knew what he was doing and they now all open easier than they did before. We were charged extremely reasonable rates. This is the company to call if you need a locksmith! We highly recommend this company. read more

We had a locksmith hired from this company and they assigned Ernie to us! He was truly amazing and a God send! Earlier that same day we had a not-so-good experience with our moving company which frustrated me SO MUCH! It was great to have someone come in that was so sweet (which totally calmed me down btw). Mr. Ernie was punctual, which I loved, and really nice and professional. I'm usually leery about having people over while my husband isn't home but that wasn't the case this time. I felt safe! He asked me a few questions and got straight to work. He rekeyed all of our doors for us and did excellent work! Mr. Ernie was super down to earth, patient AND worked around me while I was moving things to where they belong. Our dog usually barks at people, guys especially, when he thinks they don't mean well and he never did! They got along pretty well I would say! By the time my husband made it, he was almost done! I'd recommend Mr. Ernie and this company for any locksmith needs with absolutely no regrets! We feel safer with new locks and I'm so grateful that we were able to get someone with a keen sense of customer service and friendliness. It's nice to be around people with a great spirit! Thank you sooooo much, Mr. Ernie!!!!! We truly appreciate you!!!! read more

Mr. Rekey was recommended by our realtor. They provided a quick and efficient re-key service for our locks in our new home at a reasonable cost. They also provided a realtor referral discount. I would recommend them to anyone looking to re-key their locks. read more

Rekey installed a privacy lock but it was sticking a bit. Without even asking Rekey came back to fix my lock. Thank you!

Glenn called half an hour prior to his arrival. He was courteous and had all 3 of our door locks rekeyed and ready to go in half an hour.

Michael did an amazing job! Moved into rental house and needed to have the house brought up to code. He had to drill new deadbolts in three doors and he made sure to clean up really well afterwards. The place feels so much better now and I really appreciate his customer service and answering all of my questions! Will absolutely use them again and hopefully Michael! read more

Didn't call. Didn't show. I even double checked my information to make sure it was accurate. They have a 4 hour window and stillI would not recommend them obviously. Thankfully a fellow Yelp reviewer recommended another local one in the area. read more

A while back I was in a pinch between a rock and a hard place waiting for the other shoe to drop. I kept envisioning a crazy person busting into my house and starting mess because even though he'd given me the keys back, he is, as previously stated, crazy. While I would've loved to put the frying-pan-to-face move into play, I went the route of changing my house locks instead, just to be sure. Gerald did an awesome job. 6 locks changed for the $60 flat fee, ensuring little chance in hell that my home would be intruded upon. And his title is Locksmith Tech. How cool-sounding is that? I am a locksmith tech. I will unlock the door to your every (safety) fantasy (that involves securing your home from crazy people). Woah. If you've moved into a new place or have any need to get 'em locks changed, give these guys a shout. Super professional, attentive, and eager to please. read more

We had our service done by Ernie today and he was amazing! The amount of professionalism was so refreshing. He followed all safey protocol with such respect and accuracy. 10/10 would recommend this company! ERNIE IS THE MAN! read more

Great re-keying! However, I now understand why it's relatively cheap. They try to upsell you on a security system. They tried to upsell my elderly mother a security system. I don't appreciate trying to sell my mother on stuff that's unnecessary. If I wanted a security system, I'll call a security specialist. Just rekey the property, thanks. read more

Highly recommended. Resolved three different problems for us for far less than we were expecting to pay. Modified our garage door latch to close properly, re-installed a botched DIY job on our sliding glass patio door, and replaced a mechanism on our front door. Fast, inexpensive, and professional. Would 100% call them again. read more

The guy arrived nearly 2 hours late. I drove from out of town to sit at my new place during the 2 hour window that was given. Drug dirt and debris into the house. Generally unfriendly, which I normally wouldn't list on here, but for someone who arrived extremely late without a courtesy call (I had to call twice to get any information as to where this person was) I feel some apology was necessary. Very unsatisfied. read more

It was a cold winter day in December and we needed help rekey ing the locks of our property. We contacted several locksmiths and all of them were charging a visit fee and a per lock rekeying charge. Rekey locksmiths were very friendly, professional, helpful and provided that same day service. Their quote was by far the best and they were also running a promotion which we could take advantage of. Ronnie was on time and exactly knew what he was doing. He rekeyed seven locks in no time for us and charged us only for 6 and gave us 4 keys. The price was very reasonable. They were already clear about the promotion they were running unlike other locksmiths who who would quote lower price, come down to the property and then hand you a much larger bill. I would definitely hire them again for any kind of auto or residents locking issues. read more

Ernie did fantastic work installing locks, smoke detectors, and CO2 alarms in our house. He was very punctual, thorough, and friendly!

Ernie of Mr Rekey was not only prompt and courteous but guided me as to the code/regs required for investment properties. Though I had only ordered deadbolts as per my realtor, Ernie realized that since this was an investment property for renting, I also needed door viewers and carbon monoxide for bedrooms that share a wall with a bedroom! Ernie did an excellent job, matching the color and style with the existing hardware. I was not even in town, but he coordinated it with me on the telephone and did an excellent job. Thank you Ernie!!! read more

Cordell took care of us. Some of the best service I have ever received in any industry. Our front door deadbolt locked up. It wouldn't turn. There was a day's delay for them to get out here--most likely because I called on a Monday. The service time was 9-2. He was here by 9:30. He took the lock apart and examined each bit. After thoughtfully working through a variety of issues, he determined a piece of wood had made it into the lock. He saved us $25 on a new lock. We were only charged the service fee. Great service guy. I completely recommend. read more

I had the pleasure of getting a visit from Mike and Ernie of Mr. Rekey, and I received exceptional service. I'm leasing a property, and my property manager hired Mr. Rekey to fix the locks on the sliding glass door in the condo. This is very important because this is the main door that we use to get in and out of the condo. A previous locksmith from a different company came over twice and finally fixed the lock, but left it in somewhat shoddy condition -- the sliding glass door handle was very loose, and susceptible to breaking in my opinion. Ernie installed a door brace within 5 minutes and it now works properly, without any jiggle. They also completely removed the faulty charlie bar on the door and installed a pin lock for added security. In addition, they did a check on the front door, which was completely above and beyond what we hired them for, and made sure it was working correctly. Mike and Ernie completed the job within approximately twenty minutes, where a different company took around an hour over two days, and didn't even completely finish the job. Lastly, Ernie did a quick repair on our bathroom door lock, which again, was completely above and beyond what I was expecting. It now functions a bit better than before. Mike and Ernie seem to be locksmiths who truly value providing quality service. They completed the job efficiently and confidently. I want to thank them for a job well done. read more
